We used to use it weekly, now they are very regularly, running out of Jacket potatoes, and Paninis, before 12 30, they always say, they are waiting for deliveries, why wouldn't you order more stock each time ? [ if you are going to reply, you haven't got the storage space ?, then start using the Morrisons supermarket 100 yards away to restock, until your delivery arrives ?, as I have suggested numerous times ], the last time we visited, there was a lady doing the cooking, and the food was not good, there was a tiniest slither of Brie, on our Cobb, [ we wanted a panini, but they had run out again ] hardy any cranberry, and the bacon not well done, as we had asked for, the place needs a refurb, the staff are always nice. we will try it again, I am hopeful, that after they read our review, things might change.

Arrived in Newark when the sun came out which highlighted the exterior of this building well, the old timbers standing out against the white walls. Inside is a modern café with good range on the menu. Quick turn around with seating and not to long to wait for order.

Appalling customer service. I used to teach hospitality and no idea how people like this run a business. No smiles or friendliness. Asked if there was anywhere to hang my wet coat due to the rain, just got a no. I was out for birthday lunch and I explained this, again no response, so smile. The one thing I wanted to order they didn't have the brie in stock. We decided that with such poor customer service we would rather spend out money elsewhere.

Ordered a full english breakfast and sat in the window to watch the world go by. I had only just got halfway through the supplied news paper than my meal arrived. Toast was hot. Tea was in a big enough pot for two cups. Breakfast was fantastic. Beans were volcano hot and i enjoyed every bit of my choice. I am already planning another visit. An amazingly good breakfast. The menu has no less than ten (10) different breakfast options, from Full English to Vegetarian, Light Bite and cereals. I called in last week, and was served a Full English Breakfast - the best I have had in months, if not years. Very poor service,it was busy granted. We took a table that had been used and waited for 20 minutes before our order arrived which was prior to the table being cleared.....so you have to question the hygiene levels. Food was good but it has put us off. What I mean by poor hygiene is that even though I informed the young lady who took our order that the table needed clearing, we sat for 20 minutes at a table laden with dirty plates and cups and leftover food. Our food was served to the table which was still in its original state. Help the dirty plates etc. were then removed leaving us to eat at a table still half laden with dirty utensils, a table which was covered in crumbs etc. and not wiped over and therefore unclean and not hygienic!

Three people behind the counter having a natter amongst themselves and ignoring us for a good two minutes. When they eventually deigned to ask what we wanted we were told as it was exactly 12 the offer was finished, with some attitude. Apologies for the late review - we visited 1st week in December, using a Groupon voucher. Received a warm welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Sandwiches were served first and presented with a nice salad with dressing and a small bowl of crisps - perfect. Then the traditional cake-stand arrived - yummy! The scones were wonderful (2 each) and there was a great selection of cakes/pastries. The chocolate cake was divine (and enormous). Everything was fresh and appeared to be homemade. We were offered more hot tea, which was a nice touch and we were pleased to be able to take home the pieces we could not manage to eat. We have eaten afternoon teas in many luxury establishments/hotels and this has to be one of the best for quality and value for money. Just as well we don't live locally, or we would be visiting very frequently and piling on the pounds!

I've visited Newark lots of times in the past, but don't often venture further from the immediate market square or castle. My husband and I were looking for somewhere for a nice lunchtime snack, and ventured towards the end of Middle Gate. We nearly walked past this cafe as it looked more like a general coffee shop, but I'm so pleased we went in. This small cafe was welcoming, with a menu offering tasty, quality food at a very reasonable price. Hubby ordered the tuna & onion salad, and I opted for the burger. Hubby had a separate portion of chips but we needn't have bothered, as there were more than enough on my plate for us to share. The portion sizes were generous, well presented, and very tasty. Before we left I made a point of letting the staff know how much we enjoyed our meal. I'll definitely be visiting again.

Even though I've walked past this cafe on numerous occasions, I've never been in until today. Looked on tripadvisor for somewhere different to have brunch and this came up. So glad my friend and I tried it. Great breakfast menu, staff very helpful and good prices. The food was excellent, I had poached eggs on a bagel with smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce, it's was great. We will definitely be returning.

My friend and I visited Cafe Amore for tea and cake, we had Lemon and Ginger cake, it could not have been nicer. A good portion. Tea was of good quality. Staff were very polite and friendly. Will be going again.

I needed a quick coffee and my favourite place in Newark was packed. Luckily I spotted Cafe Amore, which was new to me. The cappucino could not have been better, the large selection of freshly baked cakes looked tempting, and several people were eating brunch with obvious relish. The staff were friendly and efficient, and there was plenty of comfortable seating. I'll definitely go back.

Popped in for coffee/breakfast early(ish) Sunday morning. A good selection of breakfast food. The salmon and scrambled eggs was good and excellent vale. Coffee and tea selection good. Staff friendly. Plenty of room. Toilets upstairs, only one - quite clean. Paintwork needs reviewing. Good convenient location for river, castle and shops.

The small menu looked good. However my "Ultimate" burger was anything but. The burger was smashed up into pieces with a very wet and sloppy mixture of relish and salad. With the very chewy ciabatta bread it was almost impossible to eat. I left a lot.

Really needs to review standard of hygiene and customer service. Dirty napkins, grubby tables and rude staff. Shame because food itself was well prepared and tasty.

Really enjoyed our cakes and sandwich platter with coffee in this delightful coffee shop. Staff were lovely, and the place is right near all the shops so idea for shopping afterwards! As a Groupon offer we thought it was very good value.Would recommend this to anyone wishing to have a light snack in Newark ( we couldn't eat all the cakes so took some home there was so many of them! )

Fairly typical chain type cafe, interior is interesting with exposed beams but the whole place could do with a deep clean as it looks and feels a bit grubby. Seating was limited as a number of seats had been reserved for people coming in to have afternoon tea. Coffee and food reasonable. We didn't have one ourselves but the afternoon teas were so large people needed doggy bags to take the extra with them. Overall OK but wouldn't rush back.

We were introduced to this first class venue via Groupon and are so glad we've found this absolute treasure not only for afternoon tea but any occasion that warrants a perfect ambiance whilst savouring home made savoury and sweet delights. We've enjoyed afternoon tea all over the country but without doubt Cafe Amore comes out on top for quality, customer service and value for money. Very well done and keep up the good work.

One of the best afternoon teas I have had and a very reasonable price. There were so many choices of cake we were unable to eat everything so the staff kindly wrapped them up for us to take home. We were offered top ups of our drinks several times. The staff were lovely and attentive. I would thoroughly recommend afternoon tea here.

I was looking forward to dining here as a coeliac but the service I had wasn’t exactly accompanied with a smile. The gluten free pancakes that I ordered were delicious but unfortunately they clearly were not gluten free due to the terrible reaction I had later on that day.. very disappointing. Even though I confirmed with the waitress that the pancakes were gluten free!

Tucked away within an antiques emporium this little jewel. From entering the shop you’ll be greeted by a lovely gentleman. The food was exquisite made to order not mass produced. The taste out of this world. Skill, time and quality ingredients. We were blown away. Will definitely visit again! Worth seeking out!
