Cafe 81 in Stockton-on-Tees

This is under now ownership, tloved the previous owner so was bit bit worried when she sold up. The new owner has worked very hard on a revamp of the cafe, menu and staff. It is still very friendly and budget friendly too, they do all the cafe food you would expect but they specialise in home made cheese cake. Lots of different flavours, most days will have 2 different ones, if they are not to your taste come back the next day for 2 different flavours. My fave is still the vegetarian breakfast

Firstly I have been looking for somewhere to have breakfast and Cafe 81 is the second on the list "Google search" for great breakfasts in Stockton on Tees, my first impression was clear a small cafe the Staff are very friendly, and I ordered the extra large breakfast and a tea for just over £8 the breakfast is very good however extra large I would not consider it to be it really needed more items i.e 2 hash browns or something to make it extra large. But I cannot argue with the price. The breakfast was very slightly oiled (I know some of you like it completely without.) My opinion is it is worth a visit and the price is fair.

Friendly staff, cosy place and reasonably priced, great food. I had scrambled eggs on toast - good plateful, cooked well and colleague had panini and we shared her chips. which were good!

I went with my with who is gluten free. She has wanted to try it for ages and was looking forward to going. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food we ordered was delicious, with such a wide choice of lovely food and drinks. Highly recommended :)

Proper honest and traditional cafe, very clean and bright, owner and staff are very friendly, good home made food with a daily special , try the Vegetarian breakfast, I am not a vege but I love this, all food is budget friendly, customers friendly and chatty too, across the road is a car wash I leave my car to get washed and go in here for an hours rest and good food

Highly recommend this small business. Great prompt messages and quality products . Will definitely be back when I'm next visiting family. Well organised, friendly, clean and fresh.

Popped in for a light lunch of cheese toastie and chips. The cafe stank of frying so sat outside. The poor boy serving me had no idea what he was doing. I was the only customer but had to wait for my toastie which was dry, burnt and inedible. Frozen chips were OK but it does not take a genious to cook them.

Reasonably priced and yummy afternoon tea 4x ‘normal’ and 2 gluten free. Great selection for everyone. Scones and sausage rolls were still warm. Food intolerances taken seriously yet treated the same as the rest of the group; very inclusive! Can you spot the gluten free afternoon tea in the photo?

Came in on the off chance to try somewhere new! One full large English breakfast and a luxury eggs Benedict all cooked to fresh and it was bloody beautiful! Washed down with a nice cup of coffee , best cafe in the area and the staff are lovely so friendly and welcoming nothing was an issue ( I’m a fussy bugger) will 100% be back! Well done ladies

Couldn't follow simple instructions for order leaving food tainted and unedible for members of family with allergies.

Came here for a breakfast and was very happy with the food. They also serve vegetarian and vegan food which is also really tasty. Will be returning 😁

I have been a fan of this place for some time, they recently during lock down have been doing Sunday Lunch, as usual the owner will only use high quality ingredients and it shows, always cooked just right. They often do hot puddings to go with the lunch too. I can not recommend this place too highly and now we are able to eat inside or on the tables outside

Just been here for soup and a bun. Have to say the soup was really good but half a coffee cup. Come on girls.......

In these lockdown times it is always worth keeping as many things normal as possible. At the moment Marie and her helpers are only allowed to offer takeaways, which they do during the week. And on Sundays if you fancy a special treat and don’t want to cook, you should check out Cafe 81’s superb Sunday lunch. I had the large size - succulent roast beef, abundant vegetables, and two Yorkshire puddings. Chicken is also available. You do need to book in advance. Delicious!
