The whole experience was top draw. The food was perfect, the only chef in Billingham that knows what a black and blue steak is. The staff were attentive but not rushing us. I would definitely be returning SOON.

Once again another fabulous meal. Husband had tandoori chicken skewer and I had pork tenderloin. Cooked and presented to perfection and tasted really good.

First time visit for me after my wife suggested having lunch out and it did not disappoint To start goats cheese and chicken meatballs and what a great surprise as neither dish was the usual plonked in the centre of the plates with a few leaves around see picture great presentation for great starters Then fish of the day and pork with black pudding this dish was amazing everything on the plate deserved its place and brought something to the dish both perfectly cooked Pork was succulent and very well cooked as was the fish dish Desert course Eton Mess Cheese cake which my wife fully enjoyed again presentation outstanding, I had the syrup and sponge pudding with custard and on the same plate Brandy basket with rum and raisin ice cream quite possibly the best ice cream I have every tasted that also goes for the sponge The only thing I found confusing was both deserts good enough in their own right Compliments To The Chef Overall a fantastic meal only very slight issue was we had to ask for drinks other than this a great experience

Had a beautiful meal at the peppermill billingham how the staff manage to serve the restaurant with a kitchen as small as that is beyond me. Food top notch service top notch everything top notch. Great place the chef is just outstanding what a place we will be back

Beautiful food, really good menu with lots of choice. The food is beautifully presented. The service is fantastic, very friendly helpful staff. We have been coming to the peppermil for years and it never disappoints. Our last visit was for a birthday celebration. There were 8 of us dining and every dish looked amazing. It was clean plates all round. There is a fantastic early birds menu available and I highly recommend the tapas nights.

Usually pretty busy so always book. Food very nice but on this night pork was a bit tough. Think it depends what you choose.

Good food good beer and wine in pleasant surroundings, service by the two young chaps was also very good , prices reflect the quality of the food, first time visit but will definitely return

Gorgeous little family owned restaurant. Service is always super friendly and helpful - even anticipating bowls on the side for picky kids. Food is fresh and full of flavour and always lot of choice. I had the lamb, which was delicious, especially the creamy dauphinoise potatoes, and the kids enjoyed the parmos.

Been here multiple times and it never disappoints, everything is excellent but the star of the show is the food, world class everytime

Unsure why there’s a recent bad review for this place, after looking at the posters profile they have a habit for rating restaurants low so can only assume this is why? I would advise you ignore this. Food was delicious, high quality and love that the menu changes seasonally! Service was on the ball, couldn’t fault it. Would absolutely return to the Peppermill in a heartbeat!

Been a while since I had chance to visit but as always when visiting the area popped in for dinner with family. This place never fails to deliver. Excellent service incredible food and what they manage to achieve with flavours and ingredients in that kitchen makes Gordon Ramsey look like a beginner. Thank you once again PS please make smaller portions as I couldn’t fit in desert as much as I wanted to…..

Following a recommendation by a friend, we decided to visit and have to say it was brilliant and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. All the dishes were very tasty and presented very well. I enjoyed the Spring Rolls, the Fish of the day (Coley) and an affogato. Staff were very accommodating and my affogato was made with a non vegan ice cream. Highly recommend a visit and it was busy while we were there.

I’ve been to alot of restaurants in the north east but none as bad as this, from the start the establishment is sketchy, old and dated but not one to judge a book by its cover gave it the benefit of the doubt. All dishes recieved were either gone off or undercooked. My partner could hear the female chef insulting us. We sent steak back because it was over cooked - ordered medium rare served medium well. I then proceeded to tell them we would leave due to their attitude towards my genuine complaints, for the staff to then enter an argument, taking zero accountability for ruining our evening and serving us sub standard food. I have never known anything like it, embarrassing in the middle of the restaurant and highly unprofessional. I would never recommend anyone to ever step foot in this restaurant ever. 0/10.

The staff were impeccable as was the food, I had to resist the urge to lick the plate clean. I'd never heard of the place until last night, now I'll make sure everyone knows about it.

Myself and my husband had lunch here today 2 courses for £22 food amazing as are the staff, what a little gem of a restaurant. It was our first visit but definitely not our last.

We heard of this place so thought we give it a try and wow everything there brought out was fantastic I got the fillet stake OMG was amazing.....parmo and so on so definitely 5☆☆☆☆☆

First visit to this lovely restaurant and won't be the last. Food was lovely and very well presented. The lady who served us was so nice and cheerful. I was with my daughter and mother-in-law and we all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch out. We will be back.

Fabulous as always, best bistro/restaurant in the local area for various food dishes worthy of any 5star establishment but very reasonably priced.

Not our first time here and will be certainly going back again soon. Food was delicious and service excellent. My wife and I both chose off the early bird menu with 2 courses for £22, could have 3 courses for £27 but we both couldn't fit in a dessert as the first two courses were very filling. As others have said previously, this place is a hidden gem and you do need to book in advance.Can't wait for our next visit.

Superb food. I had 3 courses for £27 and my husband had a starter and main off the general menu. Our bill with a couple of drinks was £69 The goats cheese starter was absolutely amazing. It's probably the best starter I've ever had. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the restaurant itself was warm, inviting, and a had a lovely atmosphere. .... Absolute hidden gem and will definitely be going back.

Food was absolutely amazing. Lovely Roasted herb chicken and my wife's beef was melt in the mouth. Sauces etc really complemented the food and dessert was great too apart from being stuffed. Friendly, friendly and helpful staff. Only thing is we reserved a table and got sat near the door so was a bit cold when people going in and out.

As a Coeliac, it is so difficult to find a restaurant who can deliver food that tastes good, looks good, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg! The Peppermill Bistro definitely checks all of those boxes. The food was amazing. They didn't have the meat that I wanted, but they were so accommodating and switched out for a different meat at no extra cost. The staff were friendly and the service wasn't rushed. It was a lovely and relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely be going back!! Very impressed.

We had the Christmas menu 2/3 courses the goats cheese and seafood starters were delicious. The mains we had were turkey and coley. The fish was cooked to perfection as was the turkey and veg plenty of sauce and gravy too. Can highly recommend

The Peppermill Bistro is a very special place for me. I have celebrated so many birthdays and milestones here. It is now time for me to move back to the USA and I genuinely wish this restaurant would still be around the corner. I’ve never, ever had a bad meal from here and everything is always spot on and delicious. In a region where the same stuff dominates every menu, this place has been a haven for me! My mom who visited from America has also said this is some of the very best food she’s ever had. Looking forward to visiting in the future.

Visited the Peppermill for the first time again since before the pandemic for a tapas night. I was really looking forward to it but left disappointed sadly. On arriving the service wasn't friendly and the waiting staff never smiled but they pushed us to order quite quickly once the rest of the party arrived. Asked if certain items on the menu could come without sauces etc. The waiting staff said they would enquire but never came back with an answer so we kept having to ask which delayed ordering. Once ordered and our dishes arrived they looked splendid and beautifully presented but sadly they all didn't taste as good as they looked. The best item was the roast potato's with cheese. Batter on the fish was soggy at the bottom, the ratatouille tasted like picked cucumber and not courgette, chicken parmo was tough, but the rest was edible. It was quite costly for 4 dishes at £28 which used to be £20 pre pandemic, so a big price hike. They were surprised we left a lot of the food and to which we explained why to which no one replied. They tried to push the dessert menu but we declined and was happy to finish our drinks before leaving. Sadly they kept asking if we could have the bill as they wanted us out in 10 mins since we weren't having dessert. On getting the bill we were overcharged for the drinks which was rectified quickly. Very disappointed and not the experience I used to enjoy there. Sadly it doesn't fill me with enthusiasm to book again but as its a popular restaurant they wont miss our business.

Lovely small , friendly place . Once discovered it’s difficult to go elsewhere. An absolute gem . Great prices for such delicious food .

Wow! Visited with large family group. ALL of us went away having had a truly amazing experience. The early bird is great value but even without this, Peppermill is super value considering the quality of the food. Lovely staff rounded off a great evening, not to mention the fantastic desserts! Highly recommended.

We have eaten here many times and the food has always been lovely and presented really nicely. On visiting last night we were really disappointed the starter was really dry with a soft boiled egg on the top of a black pudding and potato stack, the egg was hard boiled. The main coarse looked like it had just been plonked on the plate with no thought and swimming in a very vinegary jus. I left most of mine. As for the cheese board four tiny crackers and not enough cheese to fill a mouse trap but a mound of lettuce which does not belong on a cheese board unless I wanted it as a salad. The only thing I can think is it’s a new chef. I will give it another chance when they start the new menu but if it hasn’t improved I won’t be going back, which is a real shame as it was one of our favourite restaurants.

First timers wanting a nice meal out , thought we'd try it. Found it really strange the drinks menu in chalk is across the room , ( cocktails had no explanation of what's actually in them ) just the names . So obviously I guessed and chose at random. My wife's ' ordinary ' drink arrives , I sat. Then a waitress asked if we ready to order , I stated I hadn't had my drink yet, she snapped ' its a cocktail' and walked away. After sitting , I then pulled a second waitress asking where my drink was and if there's a problem? She assured me nicer than the first it was coming. It arrived and well, the tiniest glass I'd ever seen , half full , and fir £8 meant it was £1 a tablespoons worth by the amount that was in the glass. Not worth the wait. We felt at this point that we wanted to go , but in for a penny we stayed. After starters and a main which was cooked nice, we left still hungry as the portions are so small. Overall disappointed.

This place is fantastic, the quality and presentation of the food makes you feel special. The portions are good and it feels like effort has gone in to everything from the flavours and cooking. I enjoyed every mouthful of my meal and am still dreaming about it. This is my idea of a really great restaurant. It’s probably my favourite place to eat now.

Reviews did not lie. Food was excellent and service great. I particularly enjoyed the “Taste of Beef” which was beef prepared three very different ways.

Turned up on spec but was able to get a table for both of us. We ordered from the early bird menu which was £21 for 2 courses (£26 for 3) and was genuinely impressed by the food which was really nice. Drinks are a little expensive (£3 for a can of coke) but otherwise great value. Pictures inc steak which is a £5 supplement.

What can I say, superb! Absolutely loved it, honestly could not fault it. It's a little quirky hidden gem in Billingham. Fantastic service, attentive to their customers needs, friendly and they made the evening feel special. The food was simply mouth watering and the presentation was first class. Scallops and Black Pudding to start, for main we had Duck and braised beef, dessert, baileys cheesecake and treacle tart. Of course a beautiful bottle of Malbec to compliment. This is my new go to place at home. Thoroughly recommend.

First time at the Peppermill Bistro and can I say wow, food was absolutely delicious. One of the best veggie meals out I've had. Cauliflower steak was amazing, so many flavours, so fresh and well cooked. My friend had the coley and absolutely loved it, said the flavours were amazing. Would definitely visit again, only one thing was it was a little bit cold, should have worn a jumper 🤭☺️

What a great find! A hidden gem which you could easily drive past without spotting but it really is a great restaurant. Its warm and cozy and the staff very friendly and attentive. The food is amazing and very reasonably priced. You can tell its all fresh, seasonal produce and the attention to detail in the presentation was unexpected and it all tasted amazing. The really hard bit was choosing what to order as there was so much on the menu. We will definitely be back.

Small family meal. A good selection of meals available. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Didn't have room for a desert. Plenty of drinks to chose from. Well worth the visit but don't forget to book.
