A friend recommended this Café and I wasn't disappointed. Staff were chatty and friendly The food took a while to cook but on a match day what do you expect Amazing eggs benedict and reasonably priced.

Another visit to this Cafe and again had a meal from the specials board. Food freshly cooked to order. During busy times you may have to wait to be served but in my opinion well worth the wait.

Have visited this in the past but was called Whites. We used to go to Peter's Restaurant in Great Ayton and enjoyed both the restaurant and his company, plus waitress Val. We then started to visit the cafe but must admit we preferred Goodbodys, which is just around the corner. We visit friends every couple of months, so it was a nice surprise to go back to what is now known as Cafe 21. Very nice welcome from a waitress who remembered us and very nice snacks. Would recommend a visit.

Where do I start? I visited with my wife today, we had been plenty of times before (under the previous name of Whites)and thoroughly enjoyed them. However today our experience was both shocking and disgusting! I ordered a glass of cold milk which was served at room temperature. My wife ordered a cold glass of orange, which was cold. We then waited 20 minutes for our food, whilst waiting we were horrified by the waitress picking and nibbling her pink painted fingernails. It's a good job she spat the remnants towards the dumb waiter where the food arrived. When our food arrived, she had the courtesy to wipe her finger with a paper napkin, how decent of her!!! One portion of the fries that arrived with the food had been reheated, when it was pointed out she said she will get some fresh ones, losing patience and tolerance at this time, we asked not to be charged for them. She responded by stating it was a fixed price meal. Eventually the cost was taken from the bill. Why did we stay after seeing the fingernail episode? Don't know, but I do know we won't be back. Disgusting, filthy dirty individual, shame you on you and your employers. Give it a miss and let the business fold!

Café 21 (formerly White's) is well located in Middlesbrough town centre. Good value from tea cakes to interesting lunches. Staff very friendly. Nice to sit upstairs and people watch onto the precinct below

Was on a weekend visit to the area and rather than the hotel breakfast I decided to go for a wander and found this gem... Very airy and a people watchers dream.Service was good and I upgraded to the large breakfast that included a pot of tea...My first reaction was it was too much but trust me it was so tasty I ate the lot!! 5* worth a visit..
