The food was delicious and healthy. I had the salad option and it was packed with variety, colour and great taste. My son had soup and fresh bread and a sausage roll. We plan to return because the food was great at a really affordable price.

The 12/31 Cafe is a hidden gem in the heart of historic Lewes. Fantastic, tasty food and delicious drinks in a wonderfully relaxing, comfortable and convivial atmosphere, with the warmest and friendliest staff you could ever hope to find. It's very easy to feel right at home here and the cafe merits regular and repeat visits. It has disabled access and is great for all age groups from babies to older people. Everyone is made to feel very welcome. Opening Hours Tuesday 10am - 4pm Wednesday 10am - 4pm Thursday 10am - 4pm Friday 10am - 5pm - Dog's welcome / Four Legged Friday Saturday 9am - 1pm - Drinks and cakes only

18 Place LaneWe call this our 'Hiker's Retreat'. When we are down from London and heading over the South Downs, this is our starting point. Such a friendly & twee place. Nothing is too much trouble, any changes accepted with a smile and a kind word. The owner seems very interested in hiking routes, lovely to chat with. P.s. the "Secret" Vegan menu is amazing!

North Quay RoadLooked up cafes for breakfast near the port and found this gem. Nothing to look at as its a porta cabin but inside its clean and the food is excellent. Thick bread and butter, great breakfasts and very reasonable prices. Love the dog but not sure everyone would appreciate the staff stroking the dog and then continuing to serve food but we love dogs and doesn't bother us. The tea and coffee were best tasted, not fancy just proper tea and coffee. Would definately recommend, parking at the rear too. Easy to walk from port or premier inn, and great value. Staff very friendly and will definitely return next trip to Newhaven.
