Caf Balti in Havering

Got a take away menu through the door from a restaurant called Spice Club, it used to be Cafe Balti before the previous owner retired. The menu had some really nice sounding dishes which I have never noticed on other menus. My friend ordered too many onion bhajis which I’m not too crazy about but these ones where so nice and so different to any I’ve had before. I like to try anything new that I have never had before and I am so glad I did because the rest of the dishes that I had were also very tasty. They do not use any artificial colouring or flavouring which is always an added bonus for me. So if you fancy trying some new curry dishes give Spice Club a visit, they still do the old favourites but the first time I go there for a meal I know I’ll be having something new because most other menus have the same old stuff.

Food was so late that the sundries were inedible - poppadoms were wet like paper (before turning to rubber) and the bhajis were cold and damp. Called to complain and the owner refused any refund because we'd bought through Just Eat, just offering £20 off next time we order - but why would we do that? Meat and breads were very nice, but weren't hot at all. That isn't why you get a takeaway. For the price paid it wasn't anywhere near worth it.

We have eaten here quite a few time,I don't know what happened today but our food wasn't very nice.the korma curry was missing the pistachio nuts,the sauce was like water,we had to drain it.the lamb masala was very dry and tough,taisted like a old kebab and again the sauce was like water. Not nice,won't be back.

First time using this restaurant and the food and service was excellent. Food was competitively priced and was clearly freshly cooked and extremely tasty

Onion thali was pretty ok, plenty of onions. These guy's sure love their onions. 2 bhunas in a thali was weird but I thought it was ok.... Ok... Just ok... Onion's

It's an 'ok' curry and nothing special. Serves a purpose if you're hungry. Don't expect any freebies.

Would sell my kidneys for their onion bhajis. Unbelievabley good. Delivery guy was so nice too.

This was always my local Indian restaurant, I moved over a year ago and have just seen they deliver to my new address, I’m absolutely thrilled!!! Best Indian meal you will ever eat and the service is amazing

Madras was far too hot and spicy. It just took away any flavour Also the cauliflower dish was really soggy and full or mostly onion with little flavour

The madras sauce was delicious but that's all it was - sauce. Was meant to be king prawn, and there were no more than 5 very small prawns and nothing else in it. Very disappointing

The food was lovely but huge portions, enough for 2. I will be eating the same meal again today. It would be great if they offered half portions. Food arrived 45 mins early which was annoying as I was in the shower.

Sauce to tikka very salty. One nann bread had the bottom ripped off and half the filling missing, the other was hard. Not light and fluffy. Rice had very stodgy texture. Same taste in different dishes

Awful recooked food. Bread was stale and the curry was just bad. The onion bhaji was obviously sitting for hours and reheated when we ordered. Terrible food.

Ordered chicken vindaloo and it was more like a madras also some pieces of chicken was hard and not soft and normally from other takeaways they put in free pompadoms but didn’t get nothing which shows to me bad customer service not that I’m looking for free food I see it as a way to say thank you for your custom.

The food here is always amazing and at a very reasonable price. The staff / owner are very kind and welcoming. Couldn’t be happier with my experience here.

Pleased to see reopening when lock down eased. We waited a couple of weeks and booked. There are reduced numbers of tables and social distancing was obvious. Hand sanitiser was available. Food was excellent we began with a mixed kebab and onion Bhaji followed by lamb naga and brinjal. Service was excellent and we felt safe visiting.

This is my favourite Indian restaurant by far. My friend hadn't tried Cafe Balti before, and is now converted - he said it's the best curry he's had in a long time!

Cannot fault this restaurant. All of the food was so fresh and tasty. I highly recommend it!

I would have given five stars as the good is always lovely however in my king prawn dish which cost almost £10, there were only three prawns in tons of sauce! Luckily I wasn't sharing with anyone as it wasn't even enough for me.

Really pleased cafe balti are back. It is a fantastic, friendly restaurant with excellent staff. You should visit when it is safe. In the meantime the takeaways are brilliant. Are order today arrived piping hot, well spiced and delicious. Contactless delivery was maintained. Cannot rate them highly enough.

Love a curry and always our first choice for a takeaway. Started using Cafe Balti regularly a few months ago and had no complaints. In fact, have been recommending. Last night, we ordered and was told it would take 40 to 45 mins, which is standard. However, after an hour and twenty mins, there was still no sign of it, so called them. Was left hanging on the line. Called again and was told it would be with us in 5 to 10 mins, which it was. Unforthnately, the naan bread and the onion bhajis (2 per serving on this occasion) were stone cold. I called them and all they could offer was an apology blaming the fact they were busy, but if we ordered again, we could get the naan and bhajis free! With so much competition in the area, I would have expected more and definitely will not be using them again.
