Good ice cream right in the heart of Cardiff bay. Service was prompt despite being busy and there is a god selection of flavours and cones

Visited Mermaid Quay in Cardiff Bay and stopped for coffee and had an amazing pancake and ice cream stack! Sat overlooking Cardiff Bay, which was super. Smashing little place, great, friendly service and good ice cream menu. Also does light lunch including pizza, jackets, toasties etc. Full accessibility but no toilets ( it’s on a pier type structure) so use the public loos on mermaid quay by the Glee Club (. Couple of minutes walk).

Today my partner and I had waffles, his a crunchie, mine banana and caramel sauce with cinnamon, except I asked could I exchange the sauce for strawberry and no cinnamon, they were very accommodating, we thoroughly enjoyed our delights, and will certainly be back, thankyou. Andrea Price

Rec cherry sorbet is unbelievably good.

We had a snack here yesterday lunch time. Scone and fresh cream with jam and a tea each. The staff were very pleasant, and the price was very good, I think it was around a tenner for everything. Or, and or course the views looking out over the marina were great. Would definetly recommend.

Great selection of ice creams and choices of cones. Great to sit and lick whilst sitting on the deck looking out to the barrage and Norwegian church. We had a great chilled morning with our ice creams before we returned home today.

Dishwasher was broken when we went, so the already overpriced food was served on plastic plates. Not great. Good luck if your kids need the loo as well, as the nearest one involves a trek over the road.

Great ice cream and smoothies, good service and friendly. Not too busy so we got a table over looking the water outside, was beautiful sights while we stuffed our face of yummy food!

The ice cream was delicious, and we loved the flavour we got. It was creamy and very tasty. The service was great, and the lad who served us was very helpful. Will definitely come back.....

I spent at least half an hour wandering around Cardiff city centre trying to find a place that would do me a nice tuna sandwich, and couldn't seem to find one for love nor money. Admittedly, this was probably down to Google thinking burger restaurants sell tuna sandwiches, but I digress. Eventually, I gave up, and decided to go down to the Bay in hope of finding somewhere that could provide me a nice tuna sandwich. I found this place on Google and went down to the quayside. I walked in, looked at the menu, and lo and behold - fresh tuna sandwiches on white or brown bread, with a small side salad and balsamic vinegar. After all that walking around, I can honestly say it's one of the best tuna sandwiches I've ever had. After that, I also sampled an ice cream cone, which was equally satisfying. The premises were clean and the staff were very friendly, and even got me some extra mayonnaise packets for my sandwich on request. Recommended if you're in the area and looking for a nice, unpretentious bite for lunch, and the ice cream is also a must in decent weather. The café is also very decently located, a short walk from Roald Dahl Plass, the Senedd and the Wales Millennium Centre. And it overlooks the water. Recommended for solo travellers, couples and families alike.

My daughter and I had a quick drink before our boat trip... then went back for lunch.. the food was absolutely lovely.... best BLT I've had and the ice cream shake I had (raspberry ripple) was just wow.... I will be back before we head home, staff was attentive, friendly and a pleasant 😊

It was lovely to sit outside to eat our vegan margarita pizza, just a shame the crust was burnt.

Customer service is at zero level. Don’t go here . You will regret it while there are many better options around.

Waiting in the queue I could see the ice creams, I’m a fan of pistachio and noticed it was bright green which is usually not a good sign. Nevertheless I still ordered it, which i immediately regretted because as soon as I tasted it I was disappointed. Pistachio this definitely was not! It tasted like a mixture of bubblegum, banana and chemicals. My mum who also loves pistachio had one too and she said exactly the same thing. It was that bad I actually ended up binning it. I can’t speak for the rest of the flavours but the pistachio was as artificial as it comes and for that I won’t be coming back.

We tried their ice cream and it was great, especially the bueno flavour was amazing with nuts.

Let someone help the guy serving the ice-cream especially when it gets busy. The poor guy was doing his best with so many customers waiting while other staff seemed free. Great ice-cream and location though and very reasonable prices.

A busy day at the Bay - graduation day. Despite its busyness Cadwaladers staff were friendly & food yummy & prompt enough to our table for my grandson. Situated in a great area to spot boats coming in to the bay.

Was here just for the ice cream. Service was good and there were plenty of places to sit (lunchtime on a Monday). I had a 3 scoop ice cream, vanilla, strawberry and salted caramel. Reasonably priced. I'll be back.

Tasty ice-cream and by far the best americano I had recently. The staff is extremely kind.

When purchasing an ice-cream today my husband thought it would be nice to sit outside. He tripped on the decking and sustained a nasty injury to his arm. The staff came out to check he was ok and said they would put it in the book but didn't even take his name. Please be careful this is so dangerous

I like this place .. the view is so relaxing

i mean the ice cream was good. one word to describe the place: dirty. tables are obviously never cleaned after guests. my marshmallows were dirty 😭 i didn't eat them. as far as i could see it's the only ice cream place close by the water so i guess if there's no competition they don't need to put in the effort. also a quite expensive, 3 of us got 1 scoop each and it cost £10. there's a sainsburry's down the road save your money and get a tub of ice cream there

This is a beautiful spot. But more than that, we were extremely impressed by the attention to detail for my Mum who is Ceoliac. There were choices (even a cone) and she felt the waitress took great care in delivering items safely.

We had milkshakes which were lovely, unfortunately I’m not sure why anyone would think it’s ok to let their dog on the table and why staff did nothing about it even though it was right in front of them.

We just had some ice cream which was really nice. On a nice sunny day, it could get really busy bit I think it's worth the wait.

Nice cafe by the sea side, all ice cream flavours were good except for the pistachio. We also enjoyed an excellent teatime there.

Absolutely delightful experience at Cadwaladers! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The tea and coffee are just as exceptional—perfectly brewed and a great complement to the delicious desserts. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, helping me choose the perfect scoops to suit my taste. An ice cream parlour which also serves light meals. I was impressed with the choices which included several plant based ice-creams. We sat outside enjoying the view of Cardiff Bay towards Penarth Head.

Went to Cadwaladers for some ice cream after lunch. It was a nice parlour with the usual ice cream flavours. We had the raspberry ripple ice cream which was quite nice.

Been coming here for lunch since April last year. Staff are always friendly. Service is great. Food and icecream is fab.

Always have lunch here whenever we go to a show in the Millennium Centre, only drawback is the nearest public conveniences are a distance away.

This was recommended to us on a self-guided walking tour from Pandemic Tours. We have to say, we completely agree with the glowing review from the tour. Amazing food, and what a view?!!

The excellence of its Cricieth origins is upheld and even exceeded here! It was every bit as good as I remember, and further enhanced by exceptionally welcoming and pleasant staff. The ice-cream portion was generous, and a nut topping was provided without obstruction, as had been experienced in the past. A lovely setting and atmosphere - not to be missed!

In the summer of 2021, we visited Cadwaladers in Cardiff Bay, with the intention of purchasing ice cream, whilst on a ride around Cardiff Bay on our bikes. As local residents, Cadwaladers was the place that sprung to mind, when considering options for ice cream in Mermaid Quay; not least for its vast choice of ice cream flavours. Having ridden to the café, with the bikes locked-up and our mouths watering, we approached the premises, considering which of the, many, flavours we would each like to have. Once at the front of the queue, we were greeted by the anticlimax that cash was not accepted. That was that; no ice cream for us - and no business for Cadwaladers! Having returned in 2022 - with a card - the eight months of suspense had come to an end; that was the day that we'd discover what we had missed out on. A cone of strawberry ice cream had been obtained - by card transaction, no less - and it tasted as pleasant as it had looked. The bottom line, is that Cadwaladers serve fine ice cream, however, it is only available for purchase if one is able to pay by card. It is understandable that card transactions would not be accepted if cards weren't accepted, however it seems ludicrous to me, why cash cannot be accepted; for heavens sake no such equipment as a card-machine is even required for a cash transaction! The message I would like to leave for Cadwaladers, is that they are losing out on business. I, for one, wouldn't think that this is a logical business model, however they evidently have the confidence required, as to have would-be customers walking right away from them, empty handed!

The food here was gorgeous and well presented! Ordered one of their sundaes and it was the nicest ice cream I have had. Would definitely recommend people to come here to eat on a day out and will be returning here for a treat very soon!

Visited this Ice Cream and Cafe place in Cardiff. They have lots of varieties of flavours. Most of their Ice creams are eggless and suitable for Vegetarians . They have vegan ice creams too. I just wish we had more days in Cardiff just to experience and explore all the different varieties. We had , Coffee Ice cream, Raspberry Ripple, Strawberry and Cream ice cream, and Jaffa Ice cream. All of them were extremely delicious. There usually is a massive queue for these ice cream's whatever the time. What I was most impressed about, was their excellent customer services and that they are very clear on their Allergy policies. They do ask of the allergies and they cater for allergies. They strictly adhere to their guidelines and policies. If anyone has any particular allergies, they will not serve you from the main counter, just in case there has been Cross-Contamination of any allergens. We were served from their storage area. I have never come across such level of service anywhere in UK and moreover, the quality of their ice creams is just superb. We could not resist the temptation and had to revisit the next day. The product and service is par-excellence .

The service was pretty good, friendly staff. We just ordered a simple lunch of toasted cheese and tomato sandwich and icecream. There was hardly any tomato and far too much cheese that was dreadful quality, tasteless and chewy. Miniscule salad on the side. Had the Greek yoghurt and strawberry icecream, which was painfully sweet with no sense of anything to do with yoghurt. Great views, but need to up their game.

Always used to love this place . However for £4.00 for a double scoop in a waffle cone this was the smallest waffle & smallest scoop of ice cream. It was literally a cup couple of mouth fulls. It was a joke. Will not be going again

Stopped here for some ice creams and coffee. Prices are ok, not too expensive. A bit disappointing that place which serves food doesn't have toilets on site. Other then that, ice cream is delicious and it's a nice place to stop for a cuppa with a sea front view.

Superb location overlooking the harbour. Sat outside in the sunshine with an ice cream and iced latte, which was glorious. Lots of different flavours offered for ice cream and not too expensive which was nice

What a loooovely bunch working here!! I love praising great service and great quality, and Cadwaladers has both! I’ve been a customer for years but it had been quite some time since my last visit. Everyone was so super friendly, helpful and also very funny there. The desserts were huge and indulgent which is exactly what we went for, and don’t regret any calories consumed that day! I had a Twix sundae number with ba-nay-nay and salted caramel ice cream… YUM!!! It was super hot and bless the staff having to work in the heat surrounded by freezers and fridges kicking out heat too, but that didn’t compromise their happy disposition or service. I told the manager in person that it was a joy to experience being there too as I couldn’t not! Of all the times I have been there, this visit was particularly memorable for the great service so deserved of a review for sure!! Thanks again to everyone working on the 19th as you were all sublime!!

Delicious ice cream :) I went for the vanilla and mint choc chip, it did not disappoint. They offer a GF cone too. The staff were super friendly :)

We decided to visit here to have a cuppa with a view - and to have a rest from walking around Cardiff. Another reason was to have a toilet break but they didn’t have any! Oh well at least the coffee and tea was good.

Great place, amazing views. Oatmilk coffees and yummy vegan cakes! Friendly staff- the sea gulls provide a private circus if you sit outside. I’ll be coming back!

Walked in just before they closed (didn’t realise) but they were happy to serve us. Toasted cheese sandwiches, cake and hot drinks, food was lovely, hot chocolate best I have had in ages. Service wonderful. Would definitely go back.

Purchased a couple of ice cream cones and sat at a table while we enjoyed them. Quality of ice cream was fine and quantities good. However, as we got towards the end of the cone we both noticed ice cream running out of a hole...

There is a lovely view across the bay. The staff were friendly and efficient. The pot of tea was made with tea leaves. The sandwiches and toasties were good with plenty of filling.

Service was nice from most. Meals were really a joke tho the presentation ect. Waited ages , went to find out how long our toastie would be only to find it waiting on the side for god knows how long ! The lady pointed and said it’s there - no apologies for how long it took.

Nice ice cream but service was poor. Went in 5.15 when they were open until 6. Were only told when we went to order that they were not doing sundaes, waffles or hot food. Then had to wait 25 minutes for a scoop of ice cream and then at 5.50 were told they were shut and asked to leave before we had finished eating

Very welcoming and friendly staff who were very efficient. But the coffee was lukewarm and the cafe was cold due to the door being open the whole time on a rather cold day. This is completely unnecessary. There was nowhere comfortable to sit that wasn't in a draught. The coffee which wasn't hot went cold very quickly. Disappointing.

Despite a small hiccup with a delay in our order the staff could not have done more to show genuinely they cared about customer experience. The desserts were top notch and very tasty.
