A great proper old style traditional no frills cafe. Staff really helpful, pleasant and polite. Food is excellent, great value, plenty of it and extremely well priced. Two coffee, toast and marmalade £9.40, can't beat it. We don't live in that area but will be back to visit this cafe if we are local. Thank you

Probably the worst food I've had for many years. Asked for a well done bacon roll with onion. What I got was an undercooked bacon, no onion and a soggy baguette. I also asked for the fat to be cut off, that was a waste of breath. Won't ever go again

Had a stop by after a delivery down to Cardiff today and fancied a breakfast to settle me. The Imperial cafe did not disappoint! Great service and prompt delivery of the food. Great staff on attendance and more than happy to ensure my stay was pleasant. Thank you for your hospitality, I will most definitely be dropping by on my future visits to the city 👌

I've been there loads of times over the years and the breakfasts I've had have been lush. When myself and my friend meet up for breakfast, this is where we go

Paid for extra sausage and extra egg only got extra sausage. Egg was cold. The rest of the breakfast was not cold. Only found out when I got home. Don't mind spending the money on food but I expect better. I will not return.

Hi there, my name is Omo and am black right. So I came with a friend who is Welsh to eat at the imperial cafe and the person who attended to me was being down right racist. Worst customer service I have ever had in my life at a cafe. Terrible service, super terrible service to blacks. Outright discrimination, unacceptable. Worst cafe I have ever been to in Wales!

A regular breakfast stop for drug dealers after a night of selling drugs. This café also clearly allow smoking weed right outside. The smell is horrendous & nearby businesses close their doors to lock out the smell. Obviously management couldn't care less!! Void completely!

Quick service, very nice breakfast. Unfortunately i will not be using this café anymore. They allow low life to to smoke weed outside which means you can smell it inside. Shops alongside close their doors often to stop the smell entering their businesses. It is also used in the mornings by drug dealers who have been selling drugs through the night. I have seen them being served wearing balaclavas. Totally unacceptable!! Sort it out! It is disgusting!!!

Always love coming here. The food portions are always amazing so you always get your moneys worth! The staff are lovely and it's clean. The only downside is people smoking right outside (sometimes weed) and it wafts in which makes eating uncomfortable for people like me (pregnant) I wish there were signs to not smoke directly outside due to this! Quite difficult to get a whleechair in as there is a big lip outside and also parking is on-street, limited and a bit if a nightmare Otherwise, lovely.

Great little community café! Good and plentiful food, friendly service, and very efficient. The menu has enough choice that you can get what you want, and it's all real food. I find it frustrating when I read a menu and it seems they've spent more time thinking up some elaborate wording than it takes to actually cook the food, but you won't have that problem here. Being on Splott Road, parking isn't great if you want to park outside the café, but there are plenty of side streets less than a minutes walk away. This café is one of those little gems you accidentally stumble upon and would happily go out of your way to visit again. I would seriously consider their American breakfast, very nicely done 😉👍😋

By far one of the best breakfast Cafe in Cardiff!! All the girls are hardworking and friendly, nice to go somewhere you can still chat to the staff( if they get a minute that is).Always busy but so efficient that you barely wait for food, they 're on it. Massive selection of food and drink to eat in and take away. Very clean and tidy, Highly recommended for anyone.

Asked for curry and rice to take away and was given chilli and rice so had to return to get order changed! Normally this wouldn’t be a problem but for someone like myself with an eating disorder I have a small window of time each day that I’m comfortable eating and unfortunately because of the mess up I was waiting to eat my food a whole half hour! More so once I got my food home I found it had only been warmed on the outside and the inside was still freezing cold! Won’t be eating at this cafe again 🦠🦠🦠🦠🦠

As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed. Friendly staff make sure you’re looked after. Food is delivered quickly and portions are very generous. The cheese and mushroom omelette, with salad and chips, was absolutely beautiful. Restaurant chains and fast food shops cannot compare to the service and quality at the Imperial. Always worth a visit.

tough one this place... half was perfect half was wrong lol came out with no bacon but was corrected when mentioned. bacon wasnt very nice. black pudding was raw and inedible. hash brown was crunchy and delicous. and the sausages were great. and eggs cooked perfectly.

Best cooked breakfast I’ve had in an age. Café was really busy but our breakfasts were hot, tasty and served really quickly by friendly, efficient staff. We’ll definitely be back.

thank you sadly on today's visit standards have slipped costs very expensive £2 for tea with a bag in it food was fair but expensive. The cafe was nearly empty with only 6 customer sadly we won't use again. £18 for breakfast not reasonable

Fantastic veggie breakfast, decent coffee, really quick service.

AVOID - met with ignorance and ableism. Came here supporting a disabled individual and one of the staff members was telling us get out, to never come back, that we should not be allowed there among many horrible comments. Our individual has just as much right to this community and custom as anyone else and did nothing to warrant the reaction we got. NEVER had this kind of service or attitude toward the people we support, quite disgusted. Never had a problem with any other staff either and have previously taken people in we support. Today we will no longer be customers, cannot give money to somewhere that employs someone who appears to think disabled people should be shut away for the 'convenience' of people who already have so many more privileges.

If a quality full English breakfast is what you're looking for, then look no further. Many visits later and not a single bad meal! Staff are fab and all the meals are great value! Photo is of their 'brunch' and I have to admit it defeated me 😂 plate and as huge but it was soooo good! Haha

Lovely Sunday morning breakfast at splott Rd Cafe

Loved Joes café growing up. Years ago you could enjoy a quiet breakfast without hearing the loud Splott Road and rude, tacky people screaming in there. The customers they let in, im suprised by. The cooked breakfasts are lovely but had better from myself if i'm honest. The previous owner Joe, not sure if he still owns this place, really is lovely and has a lovely family. Some of the Staff are rude also. The breakfasts are so expensive now and you hardly get any on your plate.

First time coming here for a bite, decided to have an omlette with cheese, sausage and onion. Which can come with a side salad AND chips. Was very surprised by the large portion I received, it was worth the price for the quality, speed and great taste. Would highly recommend a visit if you fancy a homemade breakfast.

As you request average price of 6£ for set breakfast But and its always a put off for me.. *set breakfast* doesn't include a drink an extra £2 for a cup of tea really? Good traditional cafe. Food was nicely cooked and I didn't have to wait long for it to be served. I had the large breakfast .Portion size was good. The breakfast with a cup of tea was £9 which I thought was a little bit too pricy.

My daughter Melanie got my first breakfast roll after I stayed over for the rugby. It was total heaven. Although takeaway it was still warm Fresh fresh fresh. Full of flavour not a hint of grease and tasty as. I will be using you whenever I am in the area. Best ever. Thanks 👍 x

Lovely food an very friendly staff

£9 for a mega breakfast and 2 bottles of water. Maybe I just live in the past but I don't think any full English breakfast mega or not should come over £5 or £6. But it was delicious and I enjoyed the outdoor seating.

Very busy cafe with lots of regulars. Staff were friendly and service quick. Our small and large breakfasts were very good with coffee and toast and parking is generally not an issue nearby. On this experience, would certainly recommend

My manager went to pick up an order that we'd phoned through, when he questioned why he was being charged £10.60 for 2 items, (one being £7 the other being £1.30) the woman serving went mad at him being incredibly rude and going WAY over the top about it. She then repeatedly got the calculations wrong. Be careful how much you are charged when you go there. When he brought the food back to the office, I rang to check why, the menu we have shows as being £5.50 for bacon, 2 eggs and chips and I only had 1 egg, plus I was charged £6.50. Before I really had a chance to speak she started shouting about my manager and mouthing right off. Never heard anything like it. Disgusting service, pathetic attitude, overpriced and the food is basic. Not worth the price or the trouble with the mouthy horror that works there. I ended up putting the phone down, because I only rang about the egg and she ranted and raved. Never seen anything like it.

Staff is very friendly. But food ain't that good. Had a burnt toast today. Ordered an avocado panini once before and some of them were on the verge of being rotten. Definitely not fresh.

My wife and I had breakfast at the Imperial Café  on the morning of June 21. Wonderful cafe, nice interior, beautiful paintings, beautifully painted walls, clean floors and toilet, excellent value for money. Delicious breakfast, a compliment to the cook. But we don't have a very good staff impression. Staff don't smile! Sullen faces spoil the cafe. The employee forgot to put the beans in our breakfast. When we told the employee about this, she did not apologize, pretended to know about it and said "Okay, now I'll bring the beans" with the appearance of doing us a favor. I would advise the manager of this good cafe to conduct a training with customer service staff. Employees should be more friendly, smile at customers and be able to apologize if necessary. I will visit your wonderful cafe as often as possible. Thank you.
