I have used it for work meetings as it's calm enough to have a conversation. There is a full selection of tea and coffee with friendly baristas and they have cakes and sandwiches too. Not too pricey! 1 Daniel Spalding Local Guide·14 reviews·1 photo 5 years ago A great local coffee shop. Not much in the way of food except for a few coffee shop type snacks and what look like some decent sandwiches, but the coffee tastes great made by experts. Although not an extreme regular I have been using Cable maybe once a month for about 7 years as I live nearby. Today when I went in the shop was empty, there were two guys behind the cash register, one very tall, about 6'5"and one shorter, unshaven with a baseball cap. They continue their conversation while I stand waiting to place my order. After about maybe 30 seconds the tall guy acknowledged me and took my order for a flat white. The other guy went and started stacking kilo bags of coffee on the shelf behind the coffee machine. I stood there for a little while thinking maybe the guy in the baseball cap didn't make coffees. Another customer came in and the tall guy took her order. The baseball cap was still very slowly stacking the shelf. Perhaps two or three minutes had passed by now, no one had started to make my coffee. I decided to sit down and wait. The tall guy tells baseball cap that he needs two coffees and baseball cap at last starts to make them. I have now been in the shop at least 5-6 minutes. I hear the brewing process going on and baseball cap is heating the milk. At this point they continue their conversation and baseball cap is standing with the milk jug in his hand. After a few more seconds of waiting I lose patience, get up, go to the counter and ask if they are going to make my coffee or continue their conversation. Baseball cap says that if I don't have time to wait for a good coffee to be made it is not his problem, (his actual words). I take the coffee, and say that I have been coming to Cable for a number of years and I will never be back. Baseball cap says "Ciao". I leave, boiling with rage. That Ciao eh! The coffee was good though. My wife can't understand what took me so long.

I met a friend in Kensal Rise and came here as they do the best quality coffee. It isn't maybe as comfortable as other cafes. I had a large batch brew which was absolutely delicious and great value at £3 for 3 cupfuls. The macchiato was also really well made.

For the first time we came in here for food. I had a toastie with cheese and beans which was retro and delicious and my wife had avocado on toast with feta which was nice but at £6 for one small slice of bread was rather a small portion. Coffee was excellent though.

Staff always welcome you here and the coffee is great - addicted to soya flat whites and recommend also buying the baron beans here and enjoying at home too. Food also good but this is primarily a coffee shop and deserves to wipe the floor with costa a few doors down.

The filter coffee here is fabulous and definitely worth a try. Have it black even if you usually take milk as the beans are not at all bitter and you lose the floral and citrus notes by adding cow juice.

I've dropped in for a perfect small cappuccino daily since it opened. It's hard to find coffee shops this dedicated to excellence and so we're lucky to have one in Kensal Rise. Sometimes it's busy so you get to wait as you can't rush quality. It's locally run not a chain and has great local made cakes. Does a good line in healthy smoothies too for the yoga people.

I visited this place on a one off even though I've lived around the corner for over a year. It was a very welcoming environment with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Although very small (only about 14-15 seats), what it lacks in size it makes up with character. The decor is mostly wooden giving it a very Nordic vibe, and the coffee is Climpson & Sons made on a La Marzocco. A definite gem in the otherwise limited Kensal Rise coffee scene!

Usually the default attitude of your average Barista is to barely acknowledge your existence (though maybe that's just a central london thing). The reception I got here was quite the opposite, inquiring how my day was going, very friendly. On top of that a very fine cup of coffee

I came in here again with my Father who had his usual hot chocolate which looked very dark and rich. My flat white was very good indeed and certainly better than the coffee shop directly opposite which have always been a little disappointed with. I could see the coffee was made with care. The bakewell slice was excellent. Two drinks and a small slice of cake came to nearly £8 so rather expensive.

Today I was mocked by an obnoxious barista at Cables. I asked to pay for 2 coffees, when he replied to me, with undermining contempt, "people don't usually say 'coffee', they would say the name of the coffee! I then overheard him speak to another barista to further ridicule me. When I challenged him, he denied ever saying anything!I'm all for supporting independent coffee houses, however if you're disrespected and treated like a moron, then why bother!A disappointing experience, extremely poor/rude customer service.

There has been an upmarket cafe in Kensal Rise for more than 10 years but the coffee was always a little disappointing. These guys do very good coffee. I have been in here a few times. The decor is 'minimalist industrial' so not as comfortable as it could be but fine for a coffee and/or cake. The staff are attentive and friendly. The first serious coffee shop in Kensal Rise?

“The customer is ALWAYS right”. Have you never heard of this saying considering you operate a coffee shop?! We rocked up for a quick drink prior to a gig in Wembley Stadium on June 29. I asked my husband to hold our chosen table while I nipped to the loo. Immediately I was accosted by the extremely rude and aggressive security guy working the door on June 29 (tall, white, British, unpleasant looking) who told me I couldn’t use the loos until I bought a drink. How dare he assume I wasn’t going to buy a drink?! Would you rather have your customers pee while purchasing a drink?! I explained that my husband was holding the table while I used to loos. He aggressively insisted I should buy a drink prior to sitting down or using the facilities. Is this how your cafe chooses to treat PAYING customers?! I understand you’re right by a big stadium so have a lot of passing traffic but if you’re going to suspiciously assume every patron is solely there to use your dirty toilets and not buy anything, you should NOT be operating next to Wembley stadium as this attitude will lose you genuine customers who you should be trying very hard to hold on to in these economic times! You should be grateful we bought a drink (because we were parched and hot!) despite your rude door security! I hope you go out of business! To slightly prolong your longevity in a market that’s saturated with coffee shops (that serve better coffee!), I suggest you teach your door security guys some basic manners. And most importantly fire that rude guy on a power trip who was “manning” the doors on June 29. I will be making a formal complaint against him to your head office.

Ox & Gate is a great spot to watch any sports available on the television. The seat where I sat looked like it's seen better days. I sampled the margherita pizza and it's fair to say absolutely nothing to write home about.

We went in for a coffee. Staff were friendly. However there was a spillage and the staff member used the blue cloth to clean the tables, and then the floor. As far as I cooked see she did not change the cloth and proceeded to clean the counter tops. I know costa employees don't need hygiene training as they don't technically touch the food but this was gross.
