That's one tasty burger. First time for me but wow packed with flavour (the Dirty Burger). Prices good and the Root Beer v interesting 🤔

Lovely food, fast service, pleasant staff. Room was a little cold but the curtain in front of the door helped, and was about as much as could be asked. Definitely a nice restaurant for a meal.

Our waiter was friendly and approachable. He went the extra mile to ensure I had a pleasant meal (after explaining dietary restrictions) and that my food was free from allergens and was positive and helpful throughout. Really made a huge difference to the entire experience. Food was great. Would definitely return!

23.00 bill for 2 x cokes 2 x 7.95 smash burger & fries. Turned out expensive for what it was and would of worked out cheaper for meals at mcdonalds. Restaurant was cold sat near the window area.

As a bit of a burger enthusiast, I've been trying different burger bars across the spectrum of choices in the UK. Seeing there was a lunchtime meal deal to buy a burger and chips for £7.99 it seemed like a great chance to finally try Byron. We waited in a dark entrance for nearly ten minutes until we were shown to our seats. The layout is really basic and decorated with discarded old furniture which despite trying to look retro just gave a more derelict and dirty feel to the place. Our waiter was pleasent although slightly over bearing who explained the deal on offer was half the size of a normal burger almost dismissing it as something not to bother with. My wife wasn't that hungry so opted for it anyway whilst I chose the standard burger, additional fries and we got 2 ciders which were brought to us within a few minutes. Unfortunately the cider was a small can which for over a five seemed very overpriced. The burgers took 20 minutes to arrive and were very disappointing too. My burger wasn't much bigger than the tiny meal deal burger. Our over all experience was that we will never be going to another Byron establishment ever again.

The fried chicken is so crisp and fresh here, absolutely delicious. The dirty fries (or potato tots) are also excellent, and the service is good. Definitely worth trying

The burger options and quality of the food were very good. We waited a little while longer than you may expect for the food for a mid week early'ish sitting.. around 6 pm, but the flow of delivery collections was impressive to watch. They were constant. The staff were very friendly, nice and polite.

Been a few times now, always had a great meal and service. Last night however was a big let down. Food was nowhere near as good as usual. Our main waitress was really nice but the rest of the staff let the whole team down.

Absolutely loved the food but there was no reason why we had to wait 40 mins after placing our order. This was a massive disappointment but otherwise the food was great!

Wow, York never sleeps. Even in November. We popped into a few places and were laughed out. "No booking? Please leave.". We felt very lucky to snap up a table here as a walk in. For low-carbers like me, you can swap the bun for a salad. Very tasty burgers and we left full and happy. Great service too!

Food was cold, bit bland, the fried chicken burger was soggy and poorly put together. Premium prices for a sub-par product. Busy so gives the illusion of good, so nice atmosphere, but terrible food. Service was mediocre with different servers and people using it. Would not go again.

best burger and wonderful service, little expensive but worth it

We popped in on the off chance they might have a table for 2 and the lovely staff got us seated in seconds! Food was divine, I just wish they were slightly bigger 🤣 One of the best burgers I've had for a long time! Milkshakes were divine aswell (highly recommend the Oreo one!). If we are ever back in York, will definitely pop in again!

I’ll never complain about size of McDonald’s burgers every again as bigger than them here plus it’s £8 for a meal it’s £15 here just for burger chips are extra, slow service and simply not worth the money, place is a rip off

I went around 3.30pm on a Wednesday and we waited 15 mins for our order to be taken and another 25 for it to arrive. I think they were understaffed as the burger especially the fried chicken one was delicious when it arrived.

Byron does proper good burgers would recommend coming

Really good food. It's slightly overpriced for the quality, but it is always consistently good. Burgers are done exactly how you like it and they actually get it right. I hate the style of the place, what with the worn and tired on purpose aesthetic forced in all areas. I feel like I'm both in Granddad's shed and Grandma's wardrobe at the same time. It's a style that is very common nowadays and its just not done well here. The staff are great, friendly and welcoming. Service is almost always fast and you do feel well looked after.

Very tasty cheeseburgers with fries. High quality and very good. Atmosphere friendly, inviting. I took it with me, but had to wait a few minutes. But that was pleasantly bridged with a delicious Pilsener... gladly again!

Buy one get one free on Mondays and Tuesdays. The staff are very friendly. It tasted pretty good. Recommended.

Popped in a Monday evening by pure coincidence, was so pleased with service and food that we chose to go back Tuesday as well. Service was excellent, Toby should get a raise, he was the main reason we got back. Excellent service. If we ever visit York again we will be back :) Louise and Patrick

Fantastic for families. Visited around 18:30 with 3 children, and they loved it. Wonderful staff and extremely tasty food

Lovely meal to celebrate my Son's birthday, only one problem, I specifically asked for grilled chicken tenders but they came deep fried but the girl asked for them to be redone without a problem. Everything else was good.

Popped in here at lunchtime and we were going to do the lunch menu but the main burger menu was 2 for 1 so couldn't resist. The 4 of us ordered burgers, fries, milkshakes and other drinks and the food was fresh, hot, tasty and good value for money. The milkshakes were particularly nice as well. Our waiter was very attentive, confident, assertive and made it a very pleasing experience. We were really impressed with the friendly welcome and service and the excellent food. A great lunchtime stop.

Quiteish lunchtime. The order app worked seamlessly and the option for a side salad instead of the bun on my burger is brilliant as I always leave at least half the bun behind when having a burger. First time here but staff member was very helpful and the food spot on. Our grandchild also seemed to like her time there.

Lovely burger which came with cold fries - this was rectified, but it's not rocket science to make sure fries are even slightly warm before serving them to a customer. You order and pay via a QR code at each table, yet they still have the cheek to add on a discretionary service charge, when all they do is literally bring the food 10 feet from the kitchen area to your table - isn't this what the price is meant to include?

Brilliant service, great food and ‘buy-one-get-one-free’ on a Monday! Cant complain at all! Five stars!

I ordered from byron burgers on a online delivery app. Everything l received was well packed. The cheesy fries and home made coleslaw, was delicious but the cheeseburger patties were very thin, over cooked, too crunchy round the edges and so dry. The bun, sauces and fresh vegetables were very tasty I'd been wanting to try B B for a while but l'm housebound. Really disappointed

I was seated promptly and given plenty of time to have a look at the menu. The server was very friendly and professional, my food arrived within 10 minutes. I ordered a Cheese burger, house fries, house slow with a strawberry milkshake. Every bite was absolutely delicious and when I'm in York again I certainly will be calling by. I really appreciate that your staff allowed me to use disabled toilet as my disability isn't that obvious and she was very discreet and didn't draw attention to my sunflower lanyard I wish more places were like this with their customers.

The establishment was a delightful discovery, albeit we encountered a minor inconvenience with our reservation. Despite this, the staff promptly resolved the issue and accommodated our group of ten without any further complications. Regrettably, chicken was not available on the menu during our visit, but the alternative dishes we selected were exceptionally delectable. Even the vegetarian option proved to be a resounding success. Whilst I was looking forward to trying their chicken option, it simply gives me a reason to return! Who even needs a reason, when food is this nice?

My glass for drink was served very dirty with some leftovers. Something like this put your appetite off straight away. Waiting for food was more than half an hour.

Managed to fit in our party of 7 without a booking after we had a cancellation nearby. Food was amazing and disappoint!!! And all of the staff were amazing with my gluten allergy. Thankyou for making our evening so enjoyable!!!

Staff very friendly. Service was good. The food was very tasty. I asked where the toilets were and was told upstairs. No disabled toilet was mentioned. The toilet area wasn't very attractive and below the toilet bowl waterline it was very black which was unpleasant to see. It needs a serious clean

This is a good burger place. A bit like fast food, but good food.

Other Byron's have been great, this one was ok but mediocre. Plus everywhere was sticky, floors, tables etc.

Nice venue but dirty in the high ceiling areas. Very annoying not to have the option of conventional table service. QR codes are fine as an option, but annoying if compulsory.

Very nice casual dinner, easy ordering via the QR code on the table, host was helpful with allergies, not the cheapest meal but the food was delicious so no complaints!

Overall nice experience, just not very good value. Five guys pays off a lot more. Loved the fact you can add a shot to your milkshake tho. Burger was okay but like I said, five guys is probably better. Chips for £3.95 and a tiny portion. Won’t be coming back but don’t regret trying it out. Edit.: Just noticed the service charge as default - charged for only being served drinks after 15 minutes of waiting and pulling out our own water bottle to give them a hint? Everyone was really nice but online menus, no water, drinks served pretty much at the same time as food and that was the only time we actually dealt with the staff?

Nice burgers. Not the biggest but tasty. Sweet potato fries very good. Order using QR code to get a menu and pay online. Some don't like this but I'm fine with it. Makes it easy to split the bill and there is free WiFi.

Sadly the only option is to place your order via a QR code on the table. Takes away the service element but the high service charge still stands - not sure what I am paying for? My burger was fine but could have been a McPlant at 3x the cost. Shame. Take away, in the past, has been fine. Cutlery also wasn't clean.

I was craving burgers- and this didn't fail to satisfy me. So delicious and a perfect amount of everything squished between two buns.

Unusual way of ordering: scan QR code and order from online menu but even for an old geezer like me it was so quick and easy. Food was cooked in view of diners so you know it's cooked freshly. Really friendly staff and burger was great - I can recommend the Clucky!

We had a great experience at Byron, York. We've been to other Byron Restaurants in the past, but this was our first visit to Byron, York. Our food was delishious and arrived in a reasonable amount of time. There were some technical issues with the ordering system, but the staff handled it very well and everything ran smoothly and in good time. The customer service was brilliant, every person that we spoke to was friendly and attentive. We'd definitely return.

I usually love coming here and often give out tips they’re that good! but being charged a £5 service charge before we’ve even received any service or drinks (which took them around 15 minutes to bring over) was not ok. Food came out a little slow but not too bad. I hate the new system of no table service and QR codes. They were also swarming with deliveroo orders which made the place feel too busy for its actual customers. Honestly felt like a cheap fast food chain which isn’t the dining experience we were after or used to having here. Unfortunately won’t be going back despite the food always being top notch! (will probably just order online as that seems to be priority!)

I had a double grilled chicken breast with cheese and bacon on a salad instead of a bun and some sweet potato fries. It was really delicious, although a little steep at £24.

40 + minutes for our food to arrive after ordering. It was not peak time...only 2 other customers in restaurant. Also, had to pay before receiving our food. Avoid, avoid,avoid.

Was told to scan a QR Code, and the waitress walked off. After a few tries of getting this code to scan we had to find the waitress for a menu. Then had to order at the till. For the price of the burger (which you have to pay nearly £4 for a small portion of fries) on top. A very cold atmosphere from the staff lacking communication skills. Was watching the chefs. One scratched his nose whilst cooking and the other one coughed too. They had no hygiene skills whatsoever. I don’t think it was quality for money. Looked greasy to the touch.

Didn't expect there to be such a massive amount of vegetarian options. It was great!

Such friendly staff who want to make sure you’re happy with your food. Had both a chicken and beef burger from here before and had to be the best burgers I’ve had.

An exceptionally bad experience. We are three people and ordered three burgers. Interestingly they served only two burgers and forgot to serve the third one and later informed the chicken is not available. Disappointed

Visited 3rd March for lunch, though I liked everything, a check back during the meal could have been nicer considering the service charge on the bill. Will Recommend for a quick meal in this tourist place.

If it possible i will put 0 star, classic burger doesn’t contain any sauces , classic chicken doesn’t cooked well. I won’t try this restaurant again.

Came to york with my family for the Jorvik festival and got recommended to come to Byron by Alicia who was handing out flyers! The food was lovely and so was the service also by Alicia :) She made us laugh a lot, she is a credit to your team!

Great burgers and good choice of gluten free options. Disappointed they ran out of cheesecake. Deducted a star as we felt a little rushed out- bill brought without asking for it and the card machine presented while still enjoying our drinks. Plus adding a service charge to the bill for a burger place is a little keen! I'm happy to tip but it shouldn't be a given. Overall would come again.

Great quality food. Didn’t book but was seated and served pretty quickly and the food arrived pretty quick as well. Our server was great I can’t remember her name but she was blonde with a European accent and accommodated to our needs and was really friendly.

I was horrified today at the treatment of my waitress who was made to cry by a fellow waitress. The woman in question was dressed in a shirt and had blonde hair and took it upon herself to be so awful to our waitress that she cried. Our waitress returned to the table after crying and acted completely professionally when asked whether she was ok she said she was but clearly wasn’t and I overheard her discussing with a colleague how apologetic she was for having to take a moment to cry. The blonde woman who made our waitress cry needs a stern talking to and this can’t continue. Will not be returning.

Really tasty. Anything on the menu can be made vegan, so, for once i had a huge selection... the pictures show what I chose... cluck burger and chikn wings... really delish! Not horrifically expensive, good selection of drinks and sauces etc too... the place was busy, but we were served really quickly. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely, staff friendly and approachable, and the restaurant is right in the centre of town, so easy to get to anything you want to see. Will look out for Byron again, as there's unfortunately not one near my home!
