We were looking for somewhere last minute that was still serving breakfast and we stumbled upon this place that we’d never visited before. The welcome was very friendly and we were sat outside amongst flowers in the peace and quiet which was lovely. Ordered a full English and a sausage sandwich and have to say both were delicious, especially the sausages! We were allowed an item change on the English breakfast which is unheard of these days and no trouble for them, and also a drink off menu, so that was greatly appreciated. All the staff we encountered were really friendly and polite and we’d definitely return!

Expensive but worth it for the peace, Yes I can see that people complain about it being expensive but when you sit here in the sun and it’s quiet it’s worth every penny

Dreadful. Drinks came out fairly quickly. Then toast which was cold. The meat breakfast came out after some time & then i waited & waited. Partner had nearly finished & my Veggie breakfast came out. I pointed out it had been rather a long wait before I got an apology. I then asked for a free coffee & the waitress said she had to ask but I did get one. Felt so fed up by then & partner had finished. Toast all very cold by that stage still on my plate. Most went in a doggy bag which I took home for the seagulls. An expensive waste of time!

Took some friends here for afternoon tea, the setting was lovely and the service was very good, but the food was only average. The sandwiches looked messy and you couldn't tell which was which. The cakes and the scones were not that fresh, a little bit hard. I have paid allot less and had better at other places. I would certainly come again for a snack as its a lovely place, but I wouldn't recommend afternoon tea.

Nothing but good freshly made food and it's CAKES (mmm), service can be a slow but they manage and the staff are friendly, visited a few times this year (2022) always the same re service, inside and out seating, sometimes a bit slow to clear tables but the food makes up for it, and the garden centre itself isn't large but it's good. Worth a visit if your in the area it's not that hard to find but it's definitely ticked out of the way.

We had a lunchtime snack of toasted sandwiches and coffees. The food is good, freshly prepared and tasty. Nice setting. Compared to other similar garden centre restaurants in the area we felt it was on the expensive side. (The garden centre itself is small, and while many of the plants looked fine, some were "past their sell by date")

Great stop. We were on a Thursday country cycle ride and popped in for cake and tea but this quickly changed to bangers and mash for me and a generously filled bacon sandwich for my mate. If I were a local I’d definitely make this a regular get away. The fire and cooking smells added to the very comfortable ambience and it was difficult to go back out into the cold and continue the ride. Lovely staff as well .

Arrived for late lunch 24th July, having checked 4.00pm closure on website, and at 2.40pm, confident of being in time for 'last orders' for hot food. Double gates closed, but not locked and no notice on them. Drove round corner to see if alternative entrance, but no. Went in to enquire. Staff member met me to say closed early because hot weather. That was the day before hottest July day, so guess same thing happened 25 July. With increasing global temperatures, I'd always check they're open before visiting. Disappointing and unreliable.

Visited today for the third time for lunch. Little chilly despite the sun, so really lovely to see the fire burning in the grate on arrival. I love this tea room - the styling is much to my liking and the food is excellent. Must admit I have only stuck to the Welsh Rarebit as I enjoy it so much, but my companions have had something different on each occasion and not been disappointed. Have only tried the Bakewell Tart cake, which is delicious, but all the other cakes look just as tasty and are all hand-made. Will definitely return and recommend. Well done for getting it just right.

Have visited here before about a year ago and wanted to find somewhere mid-afternoon to take my son for a sandwich for a late lunch. The staff were friendly and it's a nice environment, but sadly on this occasion we were disappointed with an unannounced 43 minute wait for 2 x toasted sandwiches. My son had a chocolate milkshake which was £3 and served in quite a small glass... It clearly had ice cream blended in, which is always good for a thick milkshake, but very little evidence of chocolate flavouring.. It was a light beige. My chorizo, mozzarella and tomato toasted sandwich was £7.95... That's pretty expensive in my view, though it was served with a very small bowl of salad leaves and some plain crisps. This is a nice little cafe, but I wouldn't return. Maybe they were having an off day, but had plenty of staff and wasn't packed... So not sure why such a long wait for the toasted sandwiches.

We both had the full English breakfast which was of good quality but quite pricey. A breakfast for £7.95 consists of a sausage, a slice of bacon a tomato, a egg, a flat mushroom and baked beans plus two slices of toast. Tea and coffee is not included that's an extra £2.50 for a pot. That said it is a nice cosy place to dine. The garden centre itself is very sparse it maybe just because it's winter, it was the first time I have visited so cannot comment further.

On arrival we were met with a very cheery staff and there plenty of them. It is a small restaurant and it was very busy. There were five of us but we managed to squeeze in and proceeded to enjoy a very pleasant breakfast. The food arrived and was of a generous portion. Three of us had the "Full English" the others scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. We re ordered coffee and all the time there was a steady flow of customers. At no time were we rushed and there was a steady flow of friendly banter. The bill was just under £62 for everything which is pretty reasonable in todays marketplace. A very good way to spend a couple of hours. Look forward to returning when we re visit Essex. There was a full menu so I guess it is good for lunch as well. Have no idea when it closes!

Popped in here Monday (3rd) after a recommendation from a friend. To say the service, and food were mediocre is being kind. I hope the owner reads this and takes action, the brassy puffy faced blonde serving looked like she had been on a bender the night before, and it reflected in the disinterested service. It would also have been nice to warm the ice cold plate before shovelling the food onto it. It's a real shame, as I went out of my way to visit, but should have gone to M'cdonalds instead. Been here on many occasions as it is local and APARENTLEY child friendly. Always been with friends. Today I went alone as I was near by, baby was hungry as was I. It was very busy, only one table free so I asked if it was ok to sit there, was told no problem, order sandwich and drink ok as alway, nothing outstanding but nice sandwich, I finished my sandwich but my little baby still breast feeding, had a car seat, nappy bag and feeding baby, got asked to move as someone in a wheel chair wanted my table, obviously I'd finished eating and new business was more important to them, then letting my baby feed. This table was not the only wheel chair accessible table, but I was the only single somewhat vulnerable person in there. No one else was asked to move! And they quite easily sat the man in the wheel chair at another table as a kind gentleman offered to move. Breast feeding in public is not always the easiest thing, the least a cafe can do is treat you with respect and give you the space and time to feed! Terrible behaviour never going back!

This place is one of my favourites! The food is amazing, and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is great, and I fell completely in love with the little ginger cat that was only a few weeks old when I first met him! The outside area is perfect for those warmer days and the inside great for those not so warm days. The only problem is the service is exceptionally slow when busy. We visited recently and waited ages between different courses. There was absolutely no order to which they worked, we watched people go up after us and receive theirs before us on a number of occasions. When people went to the till they were served immediately which only back logged the rest of the orders. Surely orders that have already been placed should be prioritised? They're keen to take the money but not so keen on delivering what you've ordered. We waited an hour for deserts. These deserts were all ready and in the containers at the side, it would've taken seconds to pop them on a plate and bring them out but instead we waited ridiculous amounts of time. We did raise the issue at the time but were simply told that it was on its way. It's such a shame because I love this place, but having such slow unorganised service makes us go elsewhere as we simply don't have the time to wait around.

Beth is the general manager at Butts Green who for £100 attended out home address to see see what flowers and shrubs would be most suitable for our garden. We then attended the garden centre where Beth helped us choose colour schemes and designed a plan bespoke for us. The garden centre itself is small but well equipped which also sells gardener furniture and nik -naks with a lovely cafe on site...Whilst as the garden centre we stayed we stayed for lunch and what a hidden gem that is. There is a choice of fresh homemade cakes and scones, sandwiches, toasties and breakfasts as well as lovely tea and coffee... well worth a stop.

The cake was good but we waited 40 mins for sandwiches and that was before the power cut. They had 4 staff on but only one making food. Given the out of the way nature of its location, I didn't like it enough to go back.

On arrival had a very warming welcome from a member of staff, who showed us to a quiet table for two. brought the menu within seconds and took order for drinks. Gave us a few minutes before asking if ready to order. Varied menu, so it was hard to choose. I settled for a Ploughmans which came with different types of cheese, ham, pickled onions rough cut home made bread, and a 'hot' pear chutney (tasting is believing). My wife chose a fish platter, which included salmon and crayfish, as well as the rough cut bread. All was prepared as it was ordered, so a little extra time to wait was acceptable. All in all a very nice meal in excellent surroundings.

A great place to visit at any time of year - cosy with the wood burner in winter (shame the armchairs are no longer in front of the fire!) and glorious in the summer, sitting on the terrace listening to the birds and water features. Perfect setting, tucked away enough to still be 'a secret'. Good home cooked food and changing 'specials' menu. Great for special occasions or just for popping in for a coffee. Has the added bonus of the garden centre and a variety of unusual gifts at reasonable prices (not forgetting the donkeys at Easter!) The majority of staff are friendly (a couple could be more welcoming) and tables could be cleared and cleaned quicker but overall a lovely, friendly and relaxed tearoom. I visit regularly and have recommended to lots of people.

Thoroughly enjoyed a late breakfast here on Saturday. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating even though we were over the time for full English breakfast. Food was tasty and home made, served quickly and by excellent staff. Would definitely recommend it especially as "garden centre time" is upon us gardeners. Will definitely be returning..

I'm writing this review from Weatherspoons feeling very let down, trying to smile and enjoy Mother's Day with my wife and daughter. We should be in your cafe.I booked a small family breakfast for mother's day. We arrived and sat at our reserved table, so far, so good. The cafe was busy as you would expect for mother's day. We were sitting happily for 10minutes until another family arrived and there was a problem with their table. There was some shuffling of tables but there was still a problem. We were asked by the patron 'can you move tables'. There was no please, sorry or excuse me. We were given the impression that we were in the way.We didn't have a problem moving tables. It would be a minor annoyance and wouldn't put us out. Unfortunately this is where the problem began. As we left the table I had booked it became clear that the new table wasn't inside the warm cafe but outside on a bracing March morning. This left me torn between staying and making the best of it and walking away. As none of the staff could be bothered to assist us or apologise we had little option but to walk away. Before we left my wife spoke to a member of staff to complain. Again there was no apology and no understanding. She left, on her day, in tears. I left gutted. The whole point of today was to surprise my wife and, after breakfast, for her and my daughter to choose a rose together. Maybe create a memory. Thanks for ruining this. That's why I find myself, not out of choice, in Weatherspoons. Everywhere else was full. It is mothers day after all.

This little cafe is a gem - a treasure for so many reasons. The food is presented with so much care, the ingredients are thoughtfully chosen to be first class and local. The owner and the main chef are talented beyond words, and they produce top class food. This is why we have made this our haunt for so many months now, and this review is by way of thanks for such wonderful service. Being vegetarian we have so many menu options here that are unique and healthy!Inside in the winter you can enjoy a roaring fire, and outside in the summer months, the scent of flowers from gorgeous cushioned seats and beautiful mosaic tables. This is a very special place to enjoy, and is a reflection of so much attention to detail, both in the food and the service which is second to none. There is nowhere in the area to compare with this little treasure, nowhere.

I came across this tea room by accident and have been back many times since. Ideal for hot home made soups in front of a woodburning stove in winter and delicious salads outside on the veranda in summer. Good food, varied menu and nice helpful staff. Well worth a visit. JG

Located in the sticks so you need to know where you are goingSmall garden centre. Met friends for a coffee. Arrived and found a nice little cafe. Would have helped if those serving gave a friendly hello and they would be over soon. Instead totally ignored us for an extended period. Once the waitress arrived she was friendly enough. The couple of drinks took an age to arrive. Shame really as I was not encouraged to return due to slow service.

Food OK, service poor. Our order - even the drinks - took forever to emerge and was incomplete when it finally arrived. We still ended up having to pay for their mistake though.

Wonderful little place, well tucked away. Amazing food, helpful and friendly staff, well priced. Doesn't look much from the outside but when you walk through the door is like walking into a comfortable dining room in someone's home. Warning: lots of beautiful eclectic knick-knacks and art pieces about, you may well go home with more than you planned!

This Garden Centre is only 5 mins from our home and a firm favourite. The outside decking is a very pleasant place to sit and looks over the flowers. The cakes are all freshly baked and the staff very helpful and polite. The coffee is good and there is a range of leaf teas available served in a large teapot (no dunking tea bags here). In the winter there is a log burner inside to create a warming atmosphere. Having tried most of the cafes in the local area this one is the best.
