Buttery Cafe in Camden

We love visiting Burgh House. Its a pleasure to sit and enjoy the garden and its so relaxing. We have been many times over the years and its always a soothing place. The reason for writing is that we have also eaten in the cafe many times over the years and its usually fine. But our last visit was so disappointing that I did want to request more attention being paid to the cooking and the menu. We ordered one portion of soup and salad and when it came the soup was tasteless and there was hardly any salad with it, just a couple of pieces of rocket We also ordered one goats cheese salad. This consisted of a plate of dry rocket, a handful of walnuts, a few bits of chicory and a piece of goats cheese. There was no dressing with the salad and nor were we offered any. Along with two coffees the lunch cost £29 and was so disappointing. So please have another think about what you are offering as it is not difficult to improve on that and we have not had cause to complain before. (Maybe the chef was sick that weekend and it was a recent one-off but it has put us off going there for a meal for the time being).

Coffee was disappointing. Carrot cake was dry and tasteless. Chocolate brownie was rich and stodgy - difficult to swallow. The outdoor setting was nice but the umbrella over the table was broken. We won't be back.

Lovely place .staff friendly. Deffo recommend. Will be back soon ..ample parking .. seating outside and in lovely views

Dear Sirs Though I enjoyed my coffee and the chap who served me my coffee... During my visit to the cafe I found the cafe staff (both young females) where not maintaining a pleasant environment. I'm a partially sighted individual who needs others to help me build and help maintain a pleasant environment around me.

We had lunch here on a cold Sunday afternoon,I had the soup with a savoury scone and hubby had a cream tea,all delicious!

The manager coughed with no mask on peoples cakes. They charge me for £10 for a dish that was £9 saying they couldn’t find the dish I ordered on the til but cannot refund either! My husbands drink never arrived despite being paid for and my curry was cold! My plates were chipped and dirty the server said many are chipped and others needed washing! Cobwebs all over the window inside and tables not cleaned.. filthy all around and service appalling.

We decided to have lunch on the final day of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme and the Buttery had room for us. The surroundings are lovely but the food was grim. We had the Hampstead Hash and Vegetarian Hash which were delivered pretty well cold. They were taken back to be reheated in some way then returned very hot and more overdone and didn't taste good. My daughter had scrambled egg on sourdough and the bread was over toasted and it also wasn't good. If I had served up food like this at home I would have apologised.

I’ve been to the cafe a couple of times now and I absolutely love the service specially the new system! The food is amazing and I always have a great time. Really recommend for family and couples!

I went the with my partner on Sunday the 27th of October for lunch. A friend of mine told me about this place before and l was long planning to go there. We had the roast and it was just superb! I was very pleased with the portion and flavours. Certainly a good value for money. The deco is welcoming and cosy. It has that classic/modern cafe atmosphere. The garden outside is gorgeous and the colours inside well chosen. The place was clearly busy and the staff worked hard to make sure that everything went well. They were very friendly, despite of absolutely rushed - which l obviously understood. We also want to that the manager who kindly apologised for not being able to give us better attention. Honestly, we do understand and we can only thank you and your staff for looking after us with such care and professionalism. We hope to go back very soon and try more of those gorgeous scones (words cannot describe!). Once again, thanks to the staff who suggested it. Definitely will be back.

I love this place . Beautiful garden . Very clean restaurante nice place to spend time with friends and family . Great customer service. From kitchen nice food . Had a great time with my wife here the food was excellent and the staff very friendly one in particular his name was Carlos and he served us with a smile all the time if you want good food & drink at reasonable prices then this is your place

Overcharged on three items no apology and still decided not to give the right change. The service was muddled and obviously didn't understand what we ordered. What we did order was uninspiring and costly.

Went here on 21/9. Clearly says wait 4 table service. Wait staff wander about but not given a menu till we ask and then reluctantly. Told only cakes left. Good to know. Wait 20 mins for someone to take order. Others arrive after us + order. Finally get to order, waitress says the cakes we want are gone, but can't tell us what's left. Says go inside to see. Went inside + it's really dark in there, We tried to work out which cake was which but staff would not answer. Still thought we might get tea but when waitress failed to return to us, we just walked out. Really dreadful. Went to #TaniasofHampstead instead. Friendly, fast service, told exactly what he could prepare, the wrap he made for us was so good, we immediate ordered another one.

I went to the Buttery Cafe on 19/09 and I can definitely say one of the best cafes in London.The food is very tasty and the staff are very attentive and friendly.

Este es un pequeño café increíble, un ambiente increíble y la comida es para morirse! Servicio increíble, todo llegó rápidamente y el personal es muy amable. !Se lo recomendaría a cualquiera que quiera buena comida y vibraciones relajadas. ¡Nada mejor que un asado y champán en el jardín!

El año pasado vine aquí, esperé más de una hora y nunca recibí la comida que pedí. Pero como es un entorno encantador que decidí el jueves pasado 19 de septiembre, decidí intentarlo de nuevo. Nivel de servicio tan pobre como siempre. Después de 15 minutos, una joven me preguntó si me gustaría un menú. Pero después de otros 15 minutos no había aparecido. Luego le pregunté a un camarero que trajo un menú pero nunca regresó. Después de 40 minutos en total, pensé que esto no tenía remedio y me fui. solía ser un lugar maravilloso para visitar, pero la forma en que cuenta con personal ahora simplemente no vale la pena ir. No estaba particularmente ocupado. No tengo idea de lo que hacen abajo, pero esta no es la forma de dirigir un café. Muy decepcionante. Falta de cortesía básica y mal servicio.

Me encantaba venir a almorzar aquí, pero realmente ha ido cuesta abajo. Visité con mi madre a la hora del almuerzo un día de la semana, el restaurante de abajo tenía otra pareja adentro, afuera estaba bastante ocupado pero había tres empleados allí más el personal de la cocina. Les llevó 25 minutos venir y tomar nuestro pedido y luego otros 25 minutos más para que nos trajeran el té. Uno de los camareros, un caballero mayor, fue bastante grosero cuando pedí algo extra con mi comida y me dijeron que preguntara a alguien más. Por el precio, el servicio y la comida no se reflejan. Lento es quedarse corto y la comida es mediocre, la ensalada se desnudó y un tomate cherry se redujo a la mitad. 7 para un licuado de frutas, no estoy seguro de quién paga estos precios, pero ciertamente no lo volveremos a hacer.

Después de un agradable paseo por Hampstead Heath, el café Buttery es el destino perfecto para el té de la tarde. Maravillosos pasteles y bollos frescos junto con un servicio amable y eficiente del personal acogedor, especialmente del encantador gerente Carlos, que siempre está listo con una sonrisa, ¡y puedes llevarte al perro!

I was there friday 26st july, best time in london so far! Really good experience, nice food and nice location. The staff really polite, especially the manager, Carlos, so lovely and very helpful. I would definitely recommend it.

We got married in this venue 13 years ago. We often come to celebrate our anniversary and the catering has often been a bit pedestrian.It was a dream come true to find that new caterers had taken over and there was lobster tail salad nicoise, Prosecco and strawberry tart on the specials menu, And it was all as delicious as it sounded. The staff were extremely helpful as I am a bit disabled and nothing was too much trouble. The venue is very disabled friendly.The setting is idyllic surrounded by an English garden at its most voluptuous, And there are allsorts of delightful nooks and crannies in the garden where one can sit. with the strains of beautiful classical music coming through the windows from the live concert taking place at Burgh House, It was like we had died and gone to heaven.

I usually do not write reviews, but I am usually not treated like this as well. We were sitting waiting for a very long time. After a while we went to ask if someone could come and the waiters did not even answer, pretending I was not there.

After a lovely long walk around Hampstead Heath we went to the Buttery Cafe in the Burgh Manor. Lovely food and staff. Had a look around the Manor as well which was also lovely and free!

We decided to stop off at the Buttery Cafe for brunch before heading to walk around Hampstead Heath. The gardens were beautiful on the sunny day. I was disappointed however, because I am gluten free and on the menu it was marked gluten free next to the Hamptead Hash dish. I proceeded to read and the dish contained sausages which are usually compacted with flour. I asked the waiter about it as I was quite sure that the dish was not gluten free. After the waiter asked the chef it was confirmed that indeed the quote " the sausages and the chorizo are not gluten free". I was shocked that the chef was aware of this but their menu stated differently. It was lucky that I was aware of the ingredients in sausages otherwise I could have been very ill. I am hoping that they now change the menu and have a gluten free option as this is not acceptable and other people could be extremely ill if they are unaware or trust that the dish if gluten free. I thought this was very poor and they must change their menu.

No puedo decir nada sobre la comida porque nunca nos sirvieron. Esperamos más de 45 minutos para obtener dos sándwiches y una copa de vino, en vano. Se pidió a tres camareros diferentes (pero aparentemente no) verificar el estado de nuestro pedido. Finalmente nos levantamos y nos fuimos.

Mi hermana y yo reservamos un té sorpresa de cumpleaños por la tarde para nuestra madre. Tuvimos un hermoso día en Hampstead y llegamos aquí al hecho de que alguien no había registrado que habíamos reservado el té de la tarde. El camarero fue muy poco servicial y nos habría dejado ir porque él dijo que no tenían las cosas para el té de la tarde. Sugerimos hacer el té con lo que tenían por el mismo precio que mi madre estaba tratando de sacar lo mejor de la situación. La comida llegó pero no estaba dispuesta como el té de la tarde, nuestra mesa estaba abarrotada de platos. Había un perro maloliente que paseaba por la cafetería y el personal lo estaba acariciando mientras servía la comida, nadie les pidió a los dueños que mantuvieran al perro alejado, aunque estuviera debajo de las mesas de otras personas. Le pregunté a un miembro del personal dónde estaba el inodoro y ella se mostró brusca, no me miró y simplemente dijo arriba y se marchó. Cuando llegó la cuenta, nos estaban cobrando por 4 personas aunque solo éramos 3. Habíamos esperado que, como habían cometido un error en primer lugar, al menos pudieran intentar corregir el problema de alguna manera con el proyecto de ley. Cuando le preguntamos al mesero acerca de la cuenta, él insistió en que era el precio correcto, pero le mostramos en el menú que nos habían cobrado 2 tés completos por la tarde para dos personas, uno con Prosecco y otro sin. Él continuó discutiendo con nosotros, lo cual fue muy embarazoso ya que todos nos miraban. Mi hermana dijo que no estábamos pagando el precio incorrecto y que solo pagaríamos por 3 personas según lo acordado antes de comer. Tuve que pedir 3 veces que la comida fuera empacada para que la tomáramos ya que estábamos tan molestos que ni siquiera queríamos quedarnos y terminarla. La sorpresa de cumpleaños de mi madre se arruinó, mi hermana y yo estábamos muy molestos y enojados, así como avergonzados. No lo recomendaría y definitivamente no volveré. Nos pusimos en contacto con el gerente, que no estaba presente en ese momento, ¡y la respuesta fue impactante! Claramente, la reputación, la limpieza y la satisfacción del cliente no son importantes para este establecimiento.

We've used this place for years on and off. Its tiny and busy. Good home made cakes and pastries . Good coffee and tea. Nice for afternoon tea.

Hermoso jardín en un día soleado. Té bien Pastel agradable pero caro. Servicio más allá de abismal. Tomó nuestro pedido tres veces en veinte minutos (un café, un té, un pedazo de pastel) '¿Todavía está esperando su pedido? "Aparte de una chica joven y agradable (a la que se responsabilizaba por el mal servicio), los camareros mayores eran caprichosos y hoscos. No se ofreció disculpa. Por el lado positivo, claramente no estábamos solos en nuestra experiencia y surgió una entretenida camaradería entre los clientes. La tarde terminó con una serie de palomas volando bajo que sorprendieron a un cliente de su silla desvencijada y en los arbustos. Con la muy mala calificación de higiene, dudo que regresemos apurados.

Metimos en para un almuerzo como habíamos oído este era un buen lugar para visitar. Tardaron bastante tiempo para atraer la atención del camarero para obtener un menú al principio y un tiempo para que alguien tome nuestro pedido, una vez que habíamos decidido. Sin embargo, la comida estaba muy buena. Casera y sabrosa. Buena selección de comidas ligeras de comer, así que teníamos una sopa del día y algunas tortitas de estilo americano, fresas, crema fraiche y jarabe de arce. Ñam ñam! Después, fue bastante para que la factura y entonces ella necesitaba recordarle de nuevo, porque se había olvidado la primera vez de preguntar! Aparte del servicio, la comida era muy buena y para un buen almuerzo relajante en un agradable entorno de jardín.

We found a lovely table in a bower around back where we enjoyed good tea and savory scones. Service was a bit haphazard, but the setting made up for a lot.

Very beautiful place, with a very nice garden. Homemade cakes, scones and pancakes. Highly recommended!

Así que se les acabaron los bollos que están incluidos en el menú de té del Día de la Madre. La elección de infusiones de hierbas se limitó a la manzanilla y otra. No verde, menta o menta. Pésimo, olvidadizo servicio. Pastel de zanahoria con una extraña crema agria / salada. Más de 26 para tres personas por té y pasteles mediocres.

El lugar es muy agradable, nos sentamos en el jardín, que es muy tranquilo y silencioso.

Hearty , and it was, soup with a beautifully made scone and cheese. Kitchen today clearly overwhelmed but the wait was worth it. The quality is best I've seen and I'm a foodie and been to pretty much all the known eateries in London.

Aparecimos aquí para un café y un bollo, se encuentra en un entorno muy agradable, el personal es muy amable y creo que los bollos son horneados frescos porque era uno de los mejores que he probado! Sin duda consideraríamos viniendo aquí el asado los domingos.

Sat outside in the lovely garden for coffee and lunch. The lunch was well cooked and presented and not overly priced. We can thoroughly recommend eating here. Also visited the gallery and museum.

Yo estaba cerca de la casa y de Burgh sabía que la mantequilla café tenía una zona para sentarse al aire libre, así que decidimos parar por un bollo. El bollo fue perfecto, y fue un día precioso para sentarse fuera y relajarse en el patio. El servicio también fue excelente!

Un restaurante discreto escondido debajo Burgh House. Una buena variedad de casero comida a precios moderados. abierto en temporada y queso casero de Scone sopa deliciosa la izquierda poco espacio para cualquier otra cosa, aunque nos las arreglamos para compartir un Brownie. Café también fue de muy buena calidad. Un agradable ambiente y un buen servicio. Recomendado

Nos detuvimos aquí para un bocado rápido entre visitar 2 National Trust propiedades cercanas. Nos sentamos en el patio y capricho de limonada, sopa y bollos casera. Todo lo cual era extremadamente deliciosa. El servicio y las instalaciones eran excelentes. Sin duda volveremos a visitar si está en la zona.

Yo soy exigente con la comida, y la comida es buena. Ingredietns fresca, menú sencillo, sabrosa y muy buena ubicación. Sin duda merece la pena una visita.

I shared a slice of blueberry and polenta cake with a friend and was blown away! As someone who can't eat wheat, I rarely buy cake out as they are invariably dry and tasteless but this cake was delicious - the best wheat free cake I've ever tasted. I was already delighted at the calm, leafy setting for our coffee break, but this was an unexpected delight.

This café is attached to the Burgh Museum, which was closed for a wedding when we visited. However we really enjoyed watching the guests arriving and listening to the pianist playing inside while we drank tea. People sitting nearby were eating delicious-looking cakes. Will visit again when hopefully the Museum is open.

My husband and I love to bring the children to the buttery. What a lovely place to have breakfast, lunch or just a cup of tea. It is a great place to invite friends to. It has a lovely and peaceful garden. The service is quite good, but it gets very busy at times. We often have a Sunday roast, which we recommend and especially the choice of cakes. Very cosy and friendly atmosphere. We highly recommend. Ps.: There is a lovely art gallery upstairs.

I can't imagine anywhere nicer have breakfast, lunch or tea. I loved The Buttery. Tables and chairs dotted around the garden so that you can pick a quiet, secluded spot to sit.I only had coffee and cake, what I like is that they have interesting cakes on offer, beetroot and seed cake, polenta, almond and rasberriy cake I wish this charming cafe was close to where I live. I'll certainly go again and next time for lunch.

We booked two tables for ten people with two months in advance. The day before I went personally there to remember them, my husband went on the day to choose the tables (family event that was important to us, we wanted to make a good impression so booked two of the lovely tables outside).We admittedly arrived twenty minutes later. But they didn't even bother to call us (yes we left tel no), they simply gave our tables to other people.When we arrived they proposed to put us in the basement.We hadn't any other choice than to go there (old grandparents couldn't walk to find another restaurant).Food not impressive.Service awful.Overall, not to try.

Came on one of the sunniest days in April and sat in garden with tea and scone, listening to birds. Relaxed service, didn't want to leave!

I brought my mother here for a weekday lunch, and we had a very enjoyable time. Fortunately we arrived quite early and could get a table. We were made to feel very welcome, and the service was excellent.We both had the lentil soup, which was clearly homemade and tasted lovely. We also had the cheese scone and cheese. I did feel that the cheese portion was on the small side, for the price charged, and that is why I give a "very good" rather than "excellent" rating overall. There was plenty of choice for dessert and we shared a lemon curd tart which we both liked very much.I'd be happy to make a return visit, either for lunch or tea.

We came here last week and we're very disappointed but decided to give them the benefit and revisit today. oh my god, what a total turn around it was such a joy we only came for coffee and cake but ended up staying for lunch and polishing off a bottle of Prosecco in the sunshine in their glorious gardens. The food was amazing and so is the cake the staff have really got their at together and made this one special place to dine in the sunshine :) roll on summer we will definitely be back.

The first sunny weekend of the year - nothing nicer than enjoying tea outdoors in a pleasant location like The Buttery Cafe but ...We waited for 20 mins before our order was taken. The table was never cleared from the last diners. We observed that service staff were disorganised and had no method for who should be taking orders, clearing tables, dealing with payment.After another 20 mins some beverages arrived but the order was incorrect so we had to send it back. The waiter looked bemused. The correct order never arrived, table was never cleared - so after another 10 mins we left!

We live locally and visit Burgh House regularly. Never used the cafe for lunch time until today, as it was a sunny day and everywhere else was full. The menu looked good, prices were similar to the pubs around here (£10.50 for a burger for example), so we gave it a shot. The burger was minuscule and uninspiring, fish cakes tasted old, and one of the cakes wasn't fresh either. Service was erratic and slow, as they struggled with the added business from the sunny day. Very bad value for money, and food that should not be more than half the price given the quality.

I have eaten the delicious cakes at the Buttery cafe, Burgh House many times but my partner and I decided to go there for their home cooked sundaynroastlast week and were not disappointed. It is exceptional value for money including a glassmofmwine wine. The beef was full of flavour and perfectly cooked and the super crispy roast potatoes were amazing! This is top quality food at a very reasonable price. I still had room for their amazing carrot cake afterwards too!

We have eaten her twice in the last three weeks, both for Sunday lunch with family. Our two visits show that we like the food - the "special" Sunday roast is excellent but beware the ice cream, it is bought in, in small tubs; like the cinema! The cakes are good though. The issues I have are with the service. On the first visit, three of us ordered the roast. It came but there was no mustard or horse radish, so we asked. "What's horseradish?", asked the waitress - try descrbing it. Anyway, she came back with a tiny dish, enough for one; so we had to ask for more. Sch is life. This weekend, still we had to ask for horseradish! However, that was not the worst of it. We had booked, in person, the day before but, on arrival, the manager (not the person who wrote down our booking in the "Bookings" book) looked at us in amazement and, without checking the Bookings book, laughed and said "No, you haven't!" in a tone that indicated, very clearly, that he thought we were trying it on. How uterly rude. We insisted so he decided to check the book - there was our booking. But no apology. "Oh dear, we are a bit full. Can you come back in 10 minutes?" We looked around. They were full. What choice did we have? We never did get an apology. They did not get any "service" charge. So, good food, strange service.
