Really nice cakes and milkshakes and friendly service. Lovely decor and fairly priced. Great addition to Oakham. Highly recommend.

I had high hopes for Butterwicks - the display looked lovely, with lots of choice. But the cakes were stale and the caramel of the millionaires brownie hid a thick burnt layer which entirely ruined the taste. Such a shame, as they had the potential to be amazing.

On both visits I’ve found the cakes to be stale! But the icing on the cake (literally) was my old school cake had a thick curly black hair in the icing!!!! Disgusting!

Stale cakes, taste like they were made a week ago. For the price you expect the bakes to be fresh like they make out on their socials

Best doughnut I’ve ever had in my life. Wide variety of cakes and other snacks, staff were happy to serve.

I visited the store today and was impressed with the selection of cakes, doughnuts, cookies, and other baked goods. I tried a Viennese Swirl, which was delicious. The filling was rich and creamy. I also enjoyed a large freshly made milkshake, which was thick and flavourful. The staff at the store were friendly and helpful. They were happy to answer my questions about the different products and make recommendations. I think Butterwick is a great addition to Oakham. It's a great place to go for a sweet treat or a coffee break. In addition to the tempting range of cakes, doughnuts, and cookies, Butterwick also sells coffee made from freshly ground coffee beans. I highly recommend Butterwick to anyone looking for a delicious treat. The store is located at 41 High Street, Oakham.

Pleasant pub in a pleasant location. It's always seems to be a place that exceeds expectations.. There were six of us on a Saturday night. It was quite busy. There is an old part to the pub which is very cosy and then there are two newer extensions. We were put into the one of those which was just fine but full of hard surfaces and we found ourselves next to a big table of very lively people and the noise was really just a little bit too much. So we asked the staff if we could be moved and in only a few minutes they found us a table a little way away which actually had a lovely ambience so full marks for service there. In fact the service altogether was pleasant. My starter was Morcilla Black Pudding Sausage Roll with Romesco Sauce and Turnip Remoulade. This was the best sausage roll you've had, a quite hearty start to the meal. For main course I went with Roast Pork Belly with Potato Terrine, Red Cabbage, Parsnip Puree, Black Pudding, Pickled Apple, Calvados and Sage Jus. I can't actually confirm that all of those things were present on the plate but it was certainly cooked well. There was big rectangular cube of pork with proper crackling on the top. With it was a matching sized block of a potato thing and that was just fine and the whole thing actually went together. It was even better because we chose to have some chunky chips. It wasn't a big portion I have to say but it was enough for everybody and they were really good - soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The price was an amazing £106.00 per couple including tip. I think that was because we shared a few courses and didn't drink a lot of wine but whatever that's quite astonishing for this quality of food and the fact that we had three courses. As I said the food was better than expectations so full marks to everybody yet again and if you're thinking of going I I would say you've got a good chance of having a good time.

Five friends and four guide dogs enjoy there night out. It is so nice to be welcome into a restaurant that doesn’t make you feel a Burden because of the dogs and sit you hidden away. Made to feel welcome by all the restaurant staff that look after us. Meal and evening excellent
