Absolutely brilliant. The fudge is to die for. It was so good we went back for some more before we left Port Isaac. The owner was lovely and chatted about his shop, the village and the area being filmed for the TV series Doc Martin. He actually made our day more enjoyable in what was already an amazing day.

I understand that not all shops allow dogs in ....but the attitude of the person in the shop was shocking ....rude, and no I am sorry but dogs are not allowed, its a wonder more people don't complain about bad manners, in shop's ...but this was a really bad experience, no excuses, and they lost a lot of money because this person was in a group of 10 ......shame .....well if they can afford to lose the business ......

The ice cream and fudge is absolutely delicious. Run and raisin that you can actually taste the rum. Vanilla that was probably the nicest ice cream I’ve ever had.

Extremely welcoming staff who are serving without a doubt the best ice cream in Cornwall. Reasonably priced and very generous portion! Loved that we were warned a number of times to be careful of the seagulls, VERY TRUE! You have been warned. We were safe but did see some unhappy people losing their ice cream to seagulls who clearly think its the best ice cream too!!!!

I love clotted cream fudge and I believe that they had five different kinds, including some freshly made at their kitchen. If you can't find it when you come, they may have changed the exterior to the pharmacy of the Doc Martin set. Worth seeking out!

Visited Port Isaac mid July whilst recording of Doc Martin was taking place ... this place had the name of "Portwenn Chemist" over the windows and really interesting window display. Manager was attentive and checked suitability for special dietry needs. The ice cream was delightful, two scoops overfilled the pots, flavours real and tasty, took some fudge to the office and was enjoyed by all!

On a weekend in Port Isaac we paid a visit to “the chemist” aka Buttermilk. The friendliest of welcomes from Dave who let us peruse his shop with our little dog in tow. If you love Fudge you’ll love this shop. No hard sell just genuinely lovely people. We spoke at length to Dave and his lovely wife about Port Isaac the Doc Martin programme They loved our little pooch too - Dave get a cavachon you won’t regret it. A lovely shop with lovely people running it and the fudge is AMAZING.

As others have mentioned-I went in simply because this is the pharmacy in Doc Martin. But then chatted with the most lovely folks who completely understand the connection, and are not pushing you to buy something. Which I, of course, did. Lovely Cornish products and fudge. And was glad I’d bought here when I got back to where I was staying (up the coast) and the tea I had bought was 2 pounds more in my town! So-prices in Buttermilk are reasonable. I don’t usually review a place I visited briefly- this store, and the lovely staff, were that memorable. Thanks ladies!! (I should add, everyone in Port Isaac was friendly-such a fun visit that makes me want to return and stay.)

This pleasant little shop sells delicious fudge. I prefer the 'crumbly' type and this manufacturer takes the unusual step of labelling their various fudge lines as 'crumbly' or 'soft' which is very helpful - there's nothing so disappointing than hopefully biting into a cube of fudge only to have it squish between your teeth!
