Myself and my partner visited this little gem on a Friday evening, we booked in advance. We had never visited this pub before however we had been to the sister Butchers Block pub in Rochester and it was brilliant, so my expectations were high! When we arrived we were taken to our table which was clean and well presented and the menu selection was just about right. Considering it is a “butchers block” there is plenty of options which are not to do with steak or grills as such which is good. We had the three starters for £19 and they were lovely and well presented. The mains also came and these were just perfect with no issues at all. The service is quick, from us sitting down to getting our starters within 15 minutes and then the mains very shortly after, however we didn’t feel rushed as such. The prices for both alcohol and also the food isn’t that steep and i felt for the service we received, it was very good and reasonable. The staff were very friendly, often checking if everything was okay and whether anything was needed. At the back of the pub is a very large garden with an inside seating area and also a “garden bar”. As we were there on a Friday, there was live music going on outside and this was really good and added that extra touch to our evening. I would highly recommend a visit here, we definitely will be going again!

WOW - recently moved to the area and found a gem of a restaurant in the Butchers Block. The food was outstanding. Went for the steak option as heard others around me raving about them and it did not disappoint. The wine selection is excellent - plenty of choice for the table who all have different favourites and a vast wine list that suited everyone. Owner knew his wines and his meat and spent time chatting with us welcoming us to the restaurant. Cannot wait to go back. Highly recommend.

Such a disappointment. We went for a birthday meal, and was expecting a properly cooked steak at the prices involved. Four of us went, after waiting for about 45 minutes three steaks were completely overdone. We asked for the chef to redo, they came back completely purple inside. It was left to the waitress to explain, nothing from the management. By that stage, the evening was ruined. We were not offered any sort of compensation, just a refund for the awfully cooked steaks. A real shame, as it seemed a nice place. Definitely do NOT recommend and would avoid. Live locally, will not go back and will tell others the same.

The steak was outstanding, cooked to perfection. We both had chateaubriand - would highly recommend. The staff were friendly and attentive. The Bell is beautifully decorated and offers plenty of parking. Needless to say but we’ll be back. Looking forward to trying a pie next time!

Second visit this evening for Sunday Roast this time - wow. Probably the best pub roast I’ve had. Lots of veg (far more than on my plate in the pic!) including leek gratin which was divine. Huge Yorkshire puddings (even with the lamb - I hate it when places only serve them with the beef!). There were some items unavailable but alternatives offered and our table was 5.15pm so that’s to be expected in a small family run restaurant to avoid lots of waste, so no complaints from us. If that’s an issue for you, go earlier. Previous visit was a Friday evening and had an amazing Chateaubriand - cooked to perfection. Daughter had a fillet steak and hasn’t stopped raving about how good it was. Desserts are mouth-wateringly good - sticky toffee pudding is a hit. I eat out in London a lot with work, this place is far better than most and beats anywhere local to Maidstone hands down. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I had the loin of cod and my partner had the sirloin. Both meals came with triple cooked chips, they were light and crispy and the best we've ever had! My cod was light and flaky and the batter wasn't greasy at all. My partner's steak was cooked to perfection. Can't wait to book up again! Attentive staff and friendly.

Absolutely lovely Sunday roast, everything cooked well including the meat which was served perfectly pink, great service too. Also terrific selection of English wines & good to see lots of the Balfour wines. We would highly recommend the roast platter, plenty for two.

Decided to try the new addition to the Butchers Block chain at the bell in Bearsted as we enjoy going to their other restaurant in Burham which is excellent . On arrival plenty of space to park , then a pre dinner drink at the bar with some cocktails , before being welcomed by our host Chloe, who escorted us to our table , and then preceded to take us through the menu and any specials . We all had a mixture of starters , which were delicious , followed by mains of steaks , lamb and monk fish . Mains were superb , my steak was cooked to perfection and my wife’s monk fish looked almost too good to eat , the presentation was as good as a London restaurant. Our waitress Chloe, was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble and checked in with us several times . We were actually so full up after mains that we could only mange the cheese board washed down with a lovley port and Irish coffees . All in all another enjoyable dining experience at the Butchers Block , looking forward to our next visit for Sunday lunch in a few weeks Mr and Mrs Turtle and friends

Lovely ambience and friendly staff, but food overrated and over priced. Maybe the kitchen was not running smoothly but we won’t be returning any time soon.

We visited The Butchers Block for the second time on Saturday evening. our first visit was a complete disaster resulting in us leaving without having a meal. The second visit on Saturday was no better. The manager Sean was aware that we had a bad experience on our previous visit so it would have been a nice gesture if he had greeted us on our arrival but nothing of the kind. In fact he only acknowledged me when I had cause to complain. I am not a meat eater so I was limited on choice but I was aware of this. I ordered the mushroom donut as a starter only to be told that this was no longer available. I explained that there was no other starter that I could choose, so the waitress went to the kitchen to speak to the chef. She came back and offered me the gnocchi dish which was on the lunch menu and I said that would be ok. My husband and our two friends chose the Scotch Egg for their starters. All three Scotch eggs arrived but no sign of my starter. My husband and friends finished their starters and still no sign of mine by which time I advised the waitress that there was no point in her bringing my starter as I would be eating it alone. I ordered the Soy Glazed Celeriac Breast for my main course, and my friend ordered the trio of lamb. When my friend’s lamb arrived it was well under cooked. She was not made aware it was going to be rare otherwise she would not have ordered it. My celeriac breast arrived but this also looked and tasted unappetising. We asked for both meals to be returned and credited to our bill. Our partners both had the sirloin steak which was fine but far from exceptional considering the price asked. The final straw was when I went to the ladies toilet before leaving and found that there was no toilet tissue. We left with me not having anything to eat and feeling extremely uncomfortable following my experience in the ladies toilet, and my friend only having the Scotch Egg. Unfortunately this whole saga makes it impossible for me to recommend this establishment to anyone and I or my friends will not be visiting the Butcher’s Block in the future.

Fabulous food, service and atmosphere. Eaten at the Burham restaurant before and the new Butchers at the Bell carries across the same quality of food and service that the Butchers Block is known for. The steaks were superb as was the pumpkin risotto. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait to go back.

We were warmly greeted by a gentleman behind the bar and a lady showed us to a tall table. I had asked for a lower down table but as i had only booked it a few hours ago, i was ok with that. However, they very kindly moved us almost straight away and we were seated in the main restaurant. We were served by a lovely waitress who took our order and advised us on dishes. We were a table of 3 (2 adults and a growing 15 year old!), so shared the Cote de boef. I was more than enough for us all. The food was excellent quality, the meat particularly cooked to our liking. We will def be back.

Just had a fantastic meal at the new Butchers Block Bearsted. Great service - the waiter Will could not have been more helpful. Steaks were out of this world - best we have eaten in years. Lovely ambience - feels like a smart place to eat - not the spit & sawdust atmosphere which preceded it. Highly recommend it!

Excellent personable service that was attentive without being rushed. All the food was well presented and clearly the cook knew his or her business. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch in an ambience where conversation was easy. The upstairs toilet were well kept with an accessible option a ground level. The sweets and coffees were just right.

Pizza was delicious, but we get wrong order. We asked for Home alone offer, there should be pizza, chicken wings, garlic breads and 1,5 l bottle od soft driknk (we chosen diet coke). The driver brought us pizza, garclic bread, three kinds of cakes, coleslaw salad and 1,25 litre bottle of normal coke. Later he came back for this, we gave him the cakes and coleslaw, but we didn't get chicken wings, because he said it wasn't on the receipt. So we don't recommend.

Centrally located in town centre. Nice server, helpful too when ingredients queried. Service quite slow but the fayre is fresh and beautifully presented. Prices are quite steep imho.
