Busy Bees Fish Bar in East Riding of Yorkshire

We have been going to all the Bridlington restaurants for many years and the quality and value are always great. They also allow dogs inside which is good on a cold winter afternoon.

Came here to get fish and chips for 3 of us after swimming at the leisure centre across the road to take back to the caravan…….wish we’d not bothered. Worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. The chips were greasy and the fish was dry. When you’re at the seaside you at least expect them to get the fish right but it tasted frozen, the meat was dry and the fish was very thin. If you want nice big chunks of glistening white fresh fish do not go here! The chips were greasy and the portion was stingy. The mushy peas weren’t mushy but were like pellets! £33 for fish, chips and mushy peas - wouldn’t have minded if they tasted good but were awful.

Overpriced for portions recieved. Overcooked fish.. really thin portion cooked to the point it was hard. Chikd's fish was fine, but still £8 for a tiny portion. Also plagued by flies in the restaurant (can't be helped but still off putting).

26 minutes for two portions of chips! Popped in for a quick tea after taking my little girl swimming and had to wait 26 minutes for a portion of chips and gravy and a portion of chips and mushy peas. There were two people ahead of us in the queue and then we ordered…then a large online order came in and this took priority rather than the people in the queue in front of them. The food was fresh and tasty but way too long a wait for essentially a takeaway.

We orded a delivery , 3 x fish n chips , but we enjoyed the chips , the fish wasn’t good , only the worst fish we have had since ordering takeaways over the years at my mums when we visit . Disappointed

I have been going to Busy Bees since I was a kid. Before they had BB’s 2 & 3. We went to BB’s 2 near the Yacht Club today. The fish was tiny and no option for sizing. The chips were ok once doused with salt and vinegar and curry sauce. The fish had that smell where you know it would have been its last day that it could be served. It was just awful. Absolute waste of money. Really annoyed me that i chose to go there as the last time wasn’t any better. Plenty of other to choose from and I will be voting with my feet. £18.95 for fish and chips, fish, curry sauce and a bread bun.

My family and I came in for lunch today and we're very disappointed with the quality of the food presented to us. The battered sausage was grainy and unpleasant. £1.50 for a slice of bread & butter. Is ridiculous! Haddock & Chips we're tasteless no matter how much tartar sauce was on them. The curry sauce was probably the best bit. Service was fast and the restaurant was clean. The food was a massive let down.

This was our first visit to this restaurant. Tasteless & Greasy fish. Tasteless chips & mushy peas. Also the toilets were dirty & disgusting. Tables were not clean. Cheap cutlery. The food we had was expensive compared to other fish & chip restaurants. The only good thing was the service was quick, but that was because the place was empty. Would definitely avoid going here ever again.

We attended busy bees fish and chips Chapel street bridlungton as a family of 5 and because we had a big order wrote it all on notes in my husband's phone. My husband went to the cash desk and handed his phone over with the full order on it, after 5 minut3s they came with 2 plate. 15 minutes later thebother 3 hadn't arrived so I approached the assistant to be told we only placed those 2. I then commented that they neglected to read the entire order and she said I was Iver dramatic and basically called me a liar. I wrote an honest review on their page and was met with a message on messenger from busy bees stating I needed to get a life, they promptly blocked me so I couldn't respond. AVOID THiS COMPANY

Lovely fish and chips cooked fresh to order. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Restaurant is always kept clean and tidy. Well done.

Went with my friends on a school trip and needed lunch. Went here and it was a lovely environment. The service was great and loved the food - very filling. The only critisism i have is my friends pie didnt have enough filling in it. Thanks for the meal, would definitely recommend.

The wait was well worth it, you order what you want get a ticket number and when all is ready they shout out your number and WOW, I would travel from Doncaster again just for the fish and chips, this place was so nice and take some beating.5 * all the way. Thanks a lot.

Popped in for some lunch, Fish & Chips plus Spam fritter and chips. Arrived reasonably quickly. Food hot on arrival and obviously just cooked. Very enjoyable. Clean and tidy place to grab a bite. Staff friendly and helpful.

Without doubt these are the worst fish& chips I have had the chips where so dry and bland sausages where cheap tasteless fish and chips sausage and chips tea &cofee cost £25 overpriced for poor quality food must do better

We both yesterday visited the chip shop opposite the harbour, walked into the take away section and was told it was cooked to order. Great I thought..fresh. After 10 mins we were given 2 medium fish and chips and one peas... Within mins of walking towards the harbour we discovered both of the fish was sour and yellow..absolutely disgusting. My wife actually boaked on the street. I'm 60 years of age and visited Withernsea, Brid, scared Whitby I know what fresh fish is and what it looks like..and what it should taste like. I complained to the guy who was very quick to offer refund...he knew...it was inedible. He also said it was fresh...OMG..how he thought he could convince it was ill never know. He gave us a full refund in cash even though we paid on card. Before leaving this feedback I emailed the company yesterday but they failed to respond. I'll never visit this or either other two premised they have. You failed miserably on a massive scale. Oh and chips are bought in frozen.

Poor quality fish and chips Batter undercooked. Poor sized fish for the price. Was not haddock. Sausage undercooked. Even the dog wouldn’t eat it. Would not return.

Came here on 03/09/22 with my wife for lunch got to say the food was lovely also the service from a young girl with glasses was fantastic BUT the price you charge for a 330ml bottle of pop at £2.55 is extortionate obviously you need a drink with a meal but them drinks prices are not justified this has put me off returning .

Just had Fish Chips and peas from this place - paid £9.60. This fish was small, chips not cooked enough and peas minuscule ! The customers service non existent. Was told to wait outside in case it got busy. This was 7.50pm - they close at 8pm - 3 other customers waiting outside - not happy ! I won’t be going back in a hurry I can tell you!

Spotless chip shop but very slow service waited for 20mins to be served with only one person in front of me After waiting which seemed a life time my chips were undercooked so I got a refund

The food was excellent. The fish was very well cooked and really tender and the chips were just perfect. Overall the hygiene was good and the staff friendly. Definitely recommend them.

Very small portions £2:70 for frozen chips and only only got 28 chips 10p a chip lol and to top it off not wearing face masks very poor would not recommend

Drove just under 300 miles to come to this fish and chip shop. Been a customer since the 60's and it's only got better! Now live on west coast of Scotland and when we get homesick and want the best fish and chips ever then we will drive 600 miles round trip because they are the best ever!!!! Staying in Bridlington over the August ban holiday we wanted to eat fish and chips. Busy Bee?s was a great choice. Good seating inside to eat our good. The Haddock and Chips were freshly cooked and a delight to eat.

Came here with my daughter on a recent visit to Bridlington. Just ordered two lots of chips and curry, with some scraps on mine. Ate them on the seafront and they were good, not the best chips we have ever had, but by no means the worst.

Watched them dump a bag of frozen chips into the fryer. Charged 2.80 for it. Not crispy or greasy just limp and tasteless.

Went here yesterday eight my family after a trip to the coast. I have to say there were two young kids playing shop, took forever to order, then watched them bimble about like laurel and hardy before receiving the wettest, soggy fish. I could have rung out the fish. There was a slushy mesh underneath it which put me off entirely. Shame they had just closed or I’d of taken them back

We got fish and chips here twice while on our hols. It was far better than other chippies we had been too previous years in Bridlington. Just around the corner from the Premier inn and a short walk from the centre of Bridlington. Our orders were cooked fresh to order, but we didn't have to wait long.Good value.You can also sit in if you wish. Friendly staff.

Cod and chips, sausage and chips, 2 sausages, fishcakes and chips and two small tubs of mushy peas came to roughly £20.. Thought the pease were a bit expensive at 95p for a small pot but the fishcake was the best I have had in a long time. The family enjoyed there food as well and only a few chips were left.They were cooked whilst i waited and the staff service was much improved since my last visit. I noticed they now have an eat in cafe, which was not there when I last visited and it looked nice enough but it was empty.service and food was poor on my last visit but this was quite some time ago. Camping locally and fancied fish and chips for supper. We visited the Busy Bees for a take away and were delighted with the meal and service. Food was freshly cooked and probably the best fish and chips we’ve had for a long time. Fish was lightly battered and good tasting mushy peas. Plates were all empty by the end of the meal, even the granddaughter munched through the chicken nuggets. Will certainly visit again next time we are in Brid!

Ideal fish and chips for Seniors. Good taste and value. Although the two young members of staff were under-staffed, they both did a good job. The girl was friendly and helpful. Senior proportions were perfect - not too much and pot of tea good too.

Myself and wife came to Bridlington for the first time and after walking around the area for a while we decided to try this fish shop as everyone we saw was eating fish and chips around the town. Upon entering it looks ok and clean. We decided to have there fish and chip special which is fish, chips, mushy peas( or beans, curry or gravy) a slice of bread and butter and a cup of tea. The cost is £10.20 each which i suppose isn't too bad really. We got our tea in a little pot and wasn't very hot and didn't really fill the 2 cups but let's not worry too much. We drank the tea before our food came which took roughly around 15 mins which is a little disappointing considering it's a chip shop and there was only one other table being used. Let's hope they don't have a rush. To be honest the fish was nice but chips a little hard and peas had no flavour. At least the boy who served us was pleasant though. All in all I would probably give this shop a miss and try another but it's up To you.5/10

Visited early one Saturday lunchtime and was not disappointed. Lovely fresh cod, crispy batter, perfectly cooked and served with chips, peas, bread and butter and a lovely cup of tea. Served by a pleasant young man too. Very clean and an amazing spotless toilet. 5 stars for the loo!

You can't visit the seaside without having fish and chips, and if you prefer sitting down to eat this is as good as anywhere in Bridlington.

It’s been a while since we have been to Bridlington. But when we do, the fish and chips have to come from Busy Bees.

As ever the fish and chips were wonderful, the fish was thick and very white, it flaked and wasn't greasy at all, the shop is always clean and the staff are very nice,

We were here on a very cold day in October and sat with our dog on the promenade. Unfortunately this was not a good decision as it was so cold we both were shaking with he cold. However, the service was very good and the meal well worth surviving the cold wind! The young man who served us was personable and friendly. Recommend the fish and chips! Next time we will know that we could have eaten in the Bistro as dogs were welcome!

We called in tonight for some chips. We told the staff member that we were vegan and asked if the gravy or curry was suitable. He said gravy wasn't but unsure about gravy. They had ran out of both anyway so we just ordered chips. Wanted a bap but they were all already buttered.

I’ve been here a few times and it’s been hit and miss but after last night I feel I have to write a review. I even got the fryers name (Lewis). Got fish and chips and they were cooked to absolute perfection. The most tasty supper I’ve ever had and I don’t say that lightly. With fish and chips it is never the same twice in a row but this time it was pure heaven. Recommend a visit. My order came out fresh so I would recommend you to ask for a fresh batch of chips and fish.

So I am currently sat here having attempted to eat my meal which can only be described as disgusting. I can honestly go at far as saying the worst fish and chips I've ever tasted; chips dry yet the fish was mushy from the amount of oil!!! Would not recommend to anyone!! Extremely disappointed

On the 2nd of November at approx' 3pm myself and 4 other people entered your cafe to have tea and coffee and possibly eat. we approached the counter where we were asked by a girl behind the counter, 'CAN I HELP YOU?', we made our order, whereupon the girl behind the counter said very rudely 'THERE IS A QUEUE!'.......one person stood at the counter was the queue, it appeared he had been served and was waiting. Your company needs to ensure that your employees are correctly trained in 'CUSTOMER SERVICE' or you will be loosing custom frequently. As can be imagined we did not stop in this establishment, but thank you for one thing, WE WOULD NOT HAVE FOUND THE VICTORIA SAILOR WMC, WHAT A LOVELY PLACE AND SO FRIENDLY PLACE

We asked to did and they said they did not have any. We then for to then end of our meal and we geared a lady ask for cod and chips and she got her order. It seemed like they were only giving the locals cod.

Myself and partner have just been here for lunch this afternoon! Not sure how to describe the young chap that was waitering today in the restaurant!? not all there!? Useless!? Or maybe just didn't give a dam!!? The fish and chips I must say was excellent but 30 or so mins it took for dessert to come after and try putting the dessert dishes on top of the already crowded table from the mains was remarkable... not! That's after he had already been to ask if we wanted cream or custard with that! And still left the plates behind him!!? We did ask if we could just pay the bill but was told the desserts had already been added to the bill!!? Not sure how that is because we hadn't even had them yet!!!? And the desserts we both had were terrible... microwave central!! Overall not a a good experience! My advice use the takeout and avoid the restaurant and desserts!!

Was out in Bridlington and the main 'chipy's were all packed, walking along the beach front, Busy Bees was just spotted, set back from the prom.

We found Busy Bees by accident and decided to have fish and chips as they had a sitting area. They were delicious and very good value. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

It was our first night in Bridlington and just wanted something quick to take away. We got fishcake and chips and fish and chips. The fish and fishcake were a fair size and were not too greasy like some you get. All in all a nice supper.

Had a lovely meal with a group of 10 including 2 babies. Very family friendly and welcoming. We sat in the restaurant, food came quickly considering our group size. They heated up our food brought in from outside for our babies which was great. Good sized tasty portions. Great value for money. Would highly recommend.

Whilst there was a significant drawback for this venue in that it is under refurbishment involving heavy scaffolding, ones inside the premises are spacious and clean. Service was good and the fish and chip meal was excellent although a bet more expensive than I expected. I will still visit again

Thought we'd finish the holiday off with some good old fish and chips and weren't disappointed, you could have big portions or small portions, and very reasonably priced too.

Don't bother with the rest, just go to this Top Chippy. All our family have be going there for years. Never been let down. It's the equivalent to going to the Harbour Bar in Scarborough.

Called for chips on the way home. Watched others having the fish and it looked the part.so had the fish as well. Very tasty and well cooked. Whilst it is a takeaway, there was plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. Would I visit again? Yes

If you love fish and chips this is the place to have them. You get a decent plate full and wonderful tea or coffee or even cold drink with your meal love this place see you next year guys :D

Quite a decent meal - have often travelled from Hull here for an evening out and f&C on the sea front
