We have used this pub off and on for some years, through the tenure of a few landlords and landladies. Gary and Rachel that have it now are by far the best thing to have happened to this pub ... ever. The place is cleaner than it has ever been, they are more welcoming than any of the previous owners and their food is by far the best ever served here. Their barmaid Becky is also a family member and, like the owners, is very efficient and friendly. Please ignore the old reviews that show the pub in a bad light. Under the previous owners the pub did have some real problems, but since Gary and Rachel took over, all those issues were ironed out. I suppose this reads like a paid-for reference, but please don't think that. I give credit where it's due and, now, this pub deserves the accolades it could have had long ago. One last thing; no, I was not friends with Gary and Rachel before they moved into the Burns Head. I am just really glad they did.

I have read alot of negative reviews, before writing this. Can I say the majority of them seem to relate to a previous landlord/landlady. Also, people say it is a 'regulars pub'. Well it is off the main route, and you wouldn't know it was here. So these pubs survive, by the custom of the regulars. About the pub. The landlady is what I would call an 'old style' landlady. She made my wife and I, my sister and brother-in-law, instantly welcome. I drink 'real ale', and they have a regularly changed, guest beer. The usual electric pump selection of beer and lagers. My wife like Coors on draught, which pleased her. We sometimes stay at a local caravan park, and when we are there, we tend to use the Burns on 'Fish Friday'. They do a lovely home made Fish and Chips. However, you really need to book in advance, to avoid disappointment. So, I would recommend this pub, it is what it is, a village pub off the beaten track. And of course the locals know each other, don't let that put you off. Finally, they have Sky Sports. David

Myself, my husband and my parents called in here for food, sadly they didn't serve food all week.. so we stayed for drinks. The landlady was direct but lovely all the same. We went into what I presume was the tap room and played a few games of pool. The regulars seemed to enjoy the entertainment. Although I'm sure one or two probably wanted to just watch the TV. Anyway we enjoyed ourselves.

4 of us (adults) prepared to spend a decent amount of money on drinks and we were turned away because we aren’t “regulars”. Very strange and unwelcoming vibe, seemed like they could use the money on renovation but clearly not!

Camped in the local area and stumbled across what looks to be a charming country pub. We stayed for drinks which was a real eye opener. A small group of what looked to be regulars were loud, crude and had far too much to drink, I could not believe that the bar staff were still serving them. We sat through appalling karaoke from the same people, watching them standing on chairs and spilling drinks all over. We left very disappointed and will never return. It is a great shame as this place has all the makings of a lovely country pub, much improvement is needed.

AVOID - Very unsatisfied with the whole experience, there was about 10-15 flys all around our table where we was eating, they was even landing on my family whilst they was eating and fighting them away from our food absolutely vile.. my daughter couldn’t even finish her meal because a fly actually landed on her burger bun whilst she had it in her hand eating it, all the staff were totally aware of the flys yet nothing was done. It was actually embarrassing, I would never eat here again if you paid me.. avoid at all cost absolute dump

Well where to start... the menu states homemade and fresh, reality- half frozen microwave food and blackened chips. Not good at all. Reading previous reviews we decided to go here expecting lovely food all we got was cold/lukewarm food surrounded by flies! Definitely will not be returning.

went in on a Thursday evening about 6 o'clock a few locals in but not busy orders drinks and a menu was told everything was on the menu so order chicken and leak pie and mash potato and a burger and chips ,10 minutes later was told that we do not have any mash potato so ordered a prawn cocktail in stead ,After 40 minutes wate the food came the burger was very crisp on one side and the chips were very very dark brown and grease the prawn cocktail had white bread with it even after asking for brown bread and the lettuce was very limp ,when we complained we were told that the chips were triple cooked and the lettuce was fresh ,we will not be going in here again

We stay on the Patrington Haven Park many times and we find the site guys restaurant expensive, and the food portions are small, so we tried out the Burns Head for Sunday lunch, it was a lovely meal. Nothing fancy but great home style cooking. The beef and the vegetables was excellently cooked, great value at £7 each and the beer is decently priced at 2:95 a pint of Worthington. This place is a must.

You'll not get better chips in the area thats a fact. Sirloin steak is very good although needs a bit of colour to the meat on the outside but i asked for rare and thats what came. At 12 quid its good value. Definitely worth a try. Polite bar staff too.

After many of months not seeing Gill, 18 In fact. It was an absolute pleasure to spend a couple of hours at the Burns Head to which she now owns and runs. Gill made us feel extremely welcome and made our little boy Harry feel very comfortable and all round a genuinely superb host/landlady. Would recommend this pub and this couple to anybody anywhere. The lady behind the bar/bar staff was very polite and engaging with us. An absolute delight.. will definitely be calling in again soon all the best Darren, Annie and Harry Hodgson x

Brilliant to find this gem of a pub. A very warm welcome and my steak melted in my mouth. Good honest food, which I suspect was all locally sourced, home made chips and very reasonably priced. Perfect watering hole after a walk along Spurn Point.

Poor quality food served on cold plates. The meat pie had been kept warm in a cabinet on the bar, the pastry was tough and the filling contained little meat. It was served on a cold plate with chips and plastic peas. This pub does not accept credit or debit cards.

My wife and I were spending a week in a holiday rental home (separate review on Tripadvisor), about a 2 minute walk from the pub, and we really enjoyed our (almost nightly) visits. On the night we arrived we unpacked the suitcases and headed for the pub deciding to dine out away from the house.

Visited 13th June.Everyone in the pub was friendly enough but that's about it. The landlady pulled my 2nd pint of John Smiths Cask and made a complete hash of it meaning it had a head like washing up water.No-one else eating at 7pm on a Saturday night should have been a warning but we'd just arrived at the holiday cottage and wanted food at a place where we could take our dog. They had sold out of steak and ale pudding so we ordered jumbo cod £6 and chicken, ham & leek pie £5.50. The menu boasts "all our chips are homemade" equally suggesting the rest of the food is bought in and reheated. Talking of chips, one of the plates was chipped - only 2 people eating yet they could not find a couple of plates without chips in? The place mats and the condiment containers were filthy. The food prices are cheap yet barely offer value for money so give it a miss especially with there being a much better place less than 1½ miles away. Before posting this I read all the other glowing reviews and cannot belive they relate to the same Burns Head, Patrington Haven that we visited. Perhaps someone can enlighten us as to where the other one is!

We have been here a few times for food and it is always welcoming, there's plenty of character and the food is delicious and cheaply priced. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Patrington and in nice weather you can sit in the beer garden next to a little pond.

Have recently discovered this place, while staying with a good friend at the nearby Country Club. What i liked about it ,is that it has a timeless character which is rare in which most pubs now sadly lack. The Burns has a great atmosphere & we were made very welcome by Marlene & Dennis who have run the place for nearly thirty years, they have a good choice of quality beers at very reasonable prices,They serve meals during the day,we have not personally tried any yet,but we have only heard good reviews from the many new people we have met.

This pub does some lovely home cooked food with fresh vegetables. Sunday lunch cost £5 for adults & £3.95 for under 12's. You have to book for sunday lunch as they only serve this 12 - 2pm and it does get full. The have a ordinary menu for during the week with 2 meals for £10 and good children's meals. My personal favourite is the steak & ale pudding which comes with fresh home cooked chips or mash with vegetables. This is a old fashioned pub which has a bar and then another room for either drinking & eating meals. It has lots of old fashioned charm. The pub is at Patrington Haven situated opposite a lovely fish pond. The pub has an outdoor seating area and a car park. This pub is suitable for all ages & is full of old fashioned nicknaks. The owners are Marlene & Dennis (he does the cooking as well as serving behind the bar when he's not cooking)

Nipped in for a beer whilst out shopping in Beverly. It's a little difficult to find as it's on the next street back from the market. It's a bit like Dr Who's Tardis, looks small from the outside, but it's not, its massive inside. Lots of the usual spoons drinks on offer, plus lots of real ales on the bear festival menu. Toilets were of course, upstairs!

Stopped here forca quick drink while out in the town. Love a mocha from here and husband loves the Americano with milk. Nice shop, usually very clean but was very busy so tables were not being cleared as quick as usual. We ended up clearing our own! Staff friendly and polite and drinks good value for money.

first few times the super steps breakfast was really good. Friendly staff good prices. Within the last few days went again but although the breakfast was the same size the addition of a 6" piece of human hair on the plate was off putting to say the least. Not going again
