Burleydam Brewers Fayre in Cheshire West and Chester

Food was OK.. nothing special, just ok!

I have breakfast here when staying at the Premier Inn next door. For the price, there’s plenty of choice but I always have to check half if the mugs by the coffee machine until I find a properly clean one. Does anyone check them before stacking them for public use? I understand one every now and then but just today I removed 4 until I got a clean one

Never had a more dissapointing meal. Eaten in Brewers Fayres before and they have never been great but this one has hit an all time low. We had a meal deal and then got charged £21 for 'additions'. Had floppy Nachos but no Gucomole! (Not mentioned on the menu). A salad (4oz steak and bacon extra). Since when is fried bread a crouton???? Would anyone really just have that salad on it's own!!!! The Chipotle beef chips were the soggiest ever, and they should have put mash in a bowl instead. Never never never going to eat in a Brewers Fayre again.

Absolutely filthy , sticky tables,the knives and forks were disgusting, all food on them and smears, my husband had food i did with out, his food was cold so sent it back, we will never return here.

Went there for a family meal for a special occasion, couldn't bring myself to eat whilst looking at the food trod into the floor and the grubby sticky tables. I thought my elbows were going to have to be surgically removed from the table to be honest. I entered the pub 32 years of age, ordered a pint, and by the time it was poured I had a notification that I was eligible for my bus pass. The place is ran by kids who clearly have no regard for basic hygiene and cleanliness, I didn't eat in the end and I'm glad I didnt. I Will not go there again.

Booked a table for 14, saturday lunch, place seemed nice and clean,and as it was obviously a busy time, was disappointed to find just one person serving. Food arrived quite quickly, which wasn't surprising when we tasted it, as at least half our party found the food to be cold, as were the coffees and teas from the machine. Ironically, the ice machine next to the coffee machine was broke, so the cold drinks were warm 🤦‍♂️. Staff were generally pleasant when you could find them....

£4 for a cup of coffee you have to make yourself.

Took my mum out for lunch, where to start the service was great lady who served us very attentive and helpful. Atmosphere pub was quiet at one point we had the play area for my son to ourselves. Only let down was the food! Which in the past has always been nice in their everything was barely warm. I had smotherd chicken more like cold microwave chicken (was cooked, but im presuming reheated in the microwave) my husband had a burger and parts of it looked burnt again wasn't hot so not freshly cooked an my mum had fish an chips she said was ok my son had cold pasta an two hard pieces of garlic bread

Brewers fayre franchise so food was ok, same as ones local to me. The issue I had with this restaurant was the table we were sat on, a table for two, squoze in between 2 other tables so very restricted room to move. Also pushed right against a solid wall so not able to eat properly with right arm? When the food came out there was a single piece macaroni on my partner's plate, when she ordered a gammon, so not sure what's happening in the kitchen but makes you question their contamination process... Also, when watching a waitress clean a table behind us, we watched her take the cutlery that has been used, but left the others in place, then sprayed the table and set the other places. This meant that not only could someone have touched the cutlery it then also ended up with the cleaning spray on it too, which not knowing what's in it, could cause issues with someone using them next! Best to clear the entire table and start again in my opinion

Nice place to eat, had to wait for food as it was busy. very noisy, lots of children running round outside of the kidzone play area.

Absolutely disgusting . Tables sticky. Chairs all stained. Spend most of your visit in a queue for either food or drink. Only 1 person serving. Managers attitude is if you dont like it leave.

We stopped by on a Sunday morning for breakfast. The food was alright, nothing exceptional. Unfortunately, we encountered some cleanliness issues - the cutlery was dirty when we were seated, and the toilets needed attention as well.

Good place to get breakfast. All you can eat buffet style, pay in advance. Plenty of parking available.

Awful had to wait for ages at the front of the Restaurant we were at the front when I looked back the queue was out the door. Restaurant was cold no atmosphere. The food was cold when it arrived we had to wait ages for it. My son got a pint it was flat and smelt overall it was awful. Won't be going there again

We were there with family but we're left alone didn't pick up dirty plates. Also ordered child's brownie but it didn't arrive before we had to leave.

Nice food particularly the carvery but had to chase our puddings. Some of the came and some didn't to the point where those that did arrive had been finished.

Went mid week expecting a buffet style breakfast, no wait to be told we're to sit, OK, order off the menu, which clearly isn't buffet, help yourself juice coffees ect, only coffee on offer nescafe sachets, clearly not what menu stated, no fresh orange available, tbf waitress wasn't really bothered about missing items, 10.99 each expensive breakfast for supposedly buffet

Had Mother’s Day meal there today, will never set foot in there again. Staff and management weren’t bothered my nieces were being attacked by feral kids. My 3 yr old niece being kicked in the mouth trying to play, then water balloons being allowed in the play area to be thrown at the children in there. Awful experience. 3yr old and 6 yr old nieces were so upset, all we got was oh it’s ok we’ll deal with it! But they didn’t. Be aware if you go, this is the type of place it is.

The till in the restaurant has been closed, so everyone has to que in the bar area. One staff member on in the bar, she tries her best but is run off her feet.

Was a bit dubious about coming here for a family meal as some Brewer's Fayres are awful. This wasn't though. Nice and clean place inside a huge building. Service and food were good for really low prices and the kids were able to go in the soft play area to give us a break

We got 2 meals for £11.50 it was cheap and cheerful. We went originally to take our daughter to the soft play area in there which she loved food was just an extra.

It was alright. The ordering process took about 30mins. A queue of about 20 people ordering formed, and as you have to order at the bar with only 2 staff members. It took a while. The food though came quite quick. It was as expected. Had to send the Loaded nachos back though as they just didn't have any cheese in it at all. Fresh ones arrived soon after. Staff really nice, and the food tasty when we got it. Some of it could have been a bit hotter and a jacket spud came without any butter etc. Went there as my friends took their kids and they had a ball in the play area. For me though, it was just all a bit manic and unorganized if I'm honest. I'd go back as it was alright but I wouldn't make a beeline for it.

Best place to go for food staff are always brilliant they are all very welcoming and friendly and always happy to help food is always spot on me and my partner wont eat anywhere else now since coming here cant fault any of the of the food or staff keep up the great work your all an asset to burleydam brewers fayre.

We visited the burleydam as a party of 20 once again it did not disappoint, food was served all at the same time and was hot and delicious compliments to the chef, a big thank you to Jack our waiter who was a polite and friendly young man and nothing was too much trouble for him.

The Burleydam stands out as a spacious restaurant with an affordable lunchtime menu and the perk of unlimited tea and coffee. The food provides good value, making it a worthwhile choice for those seeking a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.

Went Sunday morning for the buffet breakfast, kids eat free. Which is a great deal, as my two ate their fill. Plenty of options for cooked food, cereal, toasted things, fruit and drinks. Food was okay, had to wait for things to be re-filled on the cooked counter, heard people having to ask for coffee cups and things to be re-filled. Gross downside was that the glass canopy over the fruit and juice counter was super dusty and didn't look like it has been cleaned for a number of weeks. If something that literally in your face doesn't get cleaned, what else aren't they cleaning!

Not been for a long time, so was looking forward to seeing how the old place was. Let's start at the waiting time to be seated. Pre booked and arrived in plenty of time, good really, because we waiting till after 4pm to be seated. We we're told a couple of times, "somebody will be there in a min!". Once seated, not bad. Cleanliness✅️. Ambiance✅️. Manager✅️. Decor✅️. Bar service: requested a Guinness and paid, only to be told that they had none! 😩. OK, not the end of the world. 1 member of staff on the bar meant long waiting time to order so, I played a top trump and called the family on my phone who were sat at the table to get food order and get it done in one fowl swoop! Food: smothered platters x3 and 1 x carvery. Smothered platters were not very smothered with much food? 😬 and the carvery is going to take some explaining 🤔😳🙄😅. The portions of meat I know are measured? Weight or whatever??? But the tiny plate and tiny portions of meat did fit on my plate. Even though I thought the plates were for kids 😂. The potatoes? 🤔 Well, I think that's what they were trying to be? Might of been betteer if they weren't frozen? Also they did resemble parsnips 😳 or in some cases, chestnuts 🌰. Service overall : 1st lady who served me at the bar was stressed as she had told another staff member to stop selling Guinness as there wasn't any 😂. Gin glasses ran out so another receptacle was used? Don't suppose it matters what the glass is however professionalism is all about preparation and presentation 👍😉. We had a lovely meal and was served by a lovely young man called Jack who was friendly and polite , we will definately be back . 😁

Stayed her for 7 nights, food was inconsistant everynight. Started better than as the nights past the quality differed.

We went as a party of 20 for my granddaughters birthday we booked for 5pm but the first meal was served at 6.30 without the chips and every meal served after that was freezing cold they even served my 7 year old grandson a raw sausage i had a word with i think was the bar manager who was very helpful but really embarrassed by what they had served us she also told me that the man doing the cooking wasn't even a cook but he was the manager of the pub i sent my food back as it was as cold as if it was kept in the fridge this was a 7.30 they said they would make me another meal but i would have to wait another half hour. we were eventually given the money back by the lovely girl bar manager. never again

Service abysmal. Stood waiting at the bar for at least 15 minutes waiting for staff to arrive left before anyone came. Would not recommend.

Could do with a good deep clean, dirty cutlery, tables and menus sticky. Shame parents let their children run wild. Should be a separate area for 'retired people' to chill out

Went for food with my daughter and grandkids. We sat down at the table and I was looking around, and the place looked run down and needed a makeover. We ordered food, and when it came it looked like it had been thrown on the plate. The burger bun was hard and inedible. The curry was watery and tasteless. Its such a shame because it used to be lovely. We will not be going again.

Slow service with sloppy cooked fish. Needs more staff and a better menu where food is actually cooked and not bought in frozen. Proper home made food is needed!

A wonderful family get together in a friendly comfortable place. We all had a lovely time catching up before the Christmas rush.

As it was a mid week visit it was very quiet and the self service was not available for breakfast but we did find the food was a lot nicer as it was cooked fresh. The car parking is free with a few disabled places. It cost £9.99 per person and the kids ate free

We had an amazing two days here for our sons wedding in the area the staff was great very helpful the reception staff wonderful in the Premier Inn The staff in restaurant was great Jade manager.chris barmaid. waitresses Freya.tegan.lynn.

Pretty terrible all round. Queued for waaaaay too long to order food and drinks. Our table of 11 got served food sporadically over an hour, with some people finishing their main before others had received theirs. Some mains turned up cold. And so on.

Avoid at all costs the service is absolutely appalling. We ordered main and we were still waiting 40 mins later for dessert which never arrived or the finished plates removed.We had enough of waiting and we decided to leave without even though we had paid. . At no point during meal were we asked if we were ok. The food was awful. The service was the worst I have encountered, We will not return.

Had a table of 10 booked, we all ordered separately as families but one after another, yet the food came out very staggered. We had to wait for over an hour for our mains which at this point, everyone else had finished their 3 courses. The staff were very friendly and helpful but it was severely understaffed. 3 members of staff for what appeared to be a fully booked restaurant, which resulted in a lengthy wait to order food and an unattended bar for 20 minutes. By no means was this a knock on the staff, you could clearly see they were working tirelessly, but a terrible decision from the management. Food arrived cold, Mac and cheese balls were just battered pieces of pasta with no cheese in sight. Play area is good for younger children but was mostly unusable due to what appeared to be a 10 year old hitting all the children that entered it. Again, nothing the staff could do about that but added extra stress on top of the whole ordeal. Definitely won’t be returning here again and would advise looking at other nearby establishments as to at least save the sanity of the poor staff being worked to the bone.

We have been going here for years since my kids were little, and now they have kids of their own. This place has so much potential, but it is being wasted. We went last weekend for the buffet breakfast, and we were so disappointed. We had booked a table for 10:30, when we arrived we waited for someone to seat us and once we checked in were told to sit where we wanted, which is fine. We then went to get our breakfast at the buffet, there were no plates, no cups and half of the food looked like it had been sitting there a while, more bacon was brought out but when my husband went up for more, after standing there for 5 minutes was told that no more food gets brought out after 10:45, that server then proceeded to take away the bacon. There was no bread for toast, there were no waffles, muffins or pancakes which is all the two younger members of our party wanted. I ha e worked in catering and know that it can be a thankless job, which is why we are only ever thankful and polite to the wait staff, but I can't say it was reciprocated. We will continue to go to Burleydam because the kids love it, and they don't really care that they have had to wait over an hour for food in the past. They just love the play area.

Customer service was terrible.food had been warned up in the microwave.latte machine wasn't working.payed for a latte but ended up with a glass of fanta so disappointing.they even got our food order wrong.

Quite liked it here. We've visited a few brewers fayres recently, this is one of the good ones. Due to our previous experience at the twirl of hay, we were worried about receiving sub standard food as per the others, it was not the case. The kitchen staff here seem to take a bit of pride with the food they're serving, which which was a refreshing change. The kids loved the soft play whist waiting for dinner, I enjoyed a game of pool in the bar.

I went here because i was stopping at the Premier Inn. I Ordered a starter, of natcho and burger . With a pint of beer. Everything was cold. Except for the beer. I sent the burger back, it came back with fresh chips and still cold. Staff were poor. To get served was like walking in glue. May I suggest you sack the manager.

Food was decent but not very hot. Service was poor. Maybe they were understaffed but they made no effort to clear away plates after main course and we had to chase up drinks orders.

Worst dining experience of my entire life. Refused to serve my 1 year olds dinner with starters but told us it was 45 min wait. We ordered at 5.30 and people were still waiting at 8pm. It was honestly ridiculous the entire night was ruined by late, freezing cold food and some members of our party left without ever receiving their dinner because it was over 2.5 hours late.

1 star is too good. Avoid the place at all cost. Waited an hour for main course that didn’t turn up. Several other customers said they had waited 90 minutes and when cold food was served it was sent back. I got a refund for the 2 main courses that I didn’t receive. Manager can’t manage and is extremely rude. Yes it is your job to manage. Your feeble excuses are of no interest to me and I care even less that you started at 5am.

Stayed next door and ate here last year for wife's birthday and was good so brought whole family this dear me it was terrible. When in the queue people were queuing for refunds not to order. we waited for our drinks and they never came. Went to the bar and the lady said she had no wine glasses. I said what are those she said they are for champagne but you can't have them. What about gin glasses no you can't have them either! Eventually she let us have champagne glasses. The soft drinks bar was not serviced and drip trays overflowing so you could not place your glass without getting it wet and dirty. The gas had gone on the drinks so we're flat and syrupy. After an hour the food came. It was stone plonk cold. Sent it back, came back straight away with hot coleslaw. I actually told the waitress to ask the person to come out and explain how they could let such poor food out of the kitchen and she went in but he wouldn't come out. If I was him I would be embarrassed too. There was lots and lots of unhappy customers and some were aggressive which is wrong. The poor waiting staff were taking all the flak for the terrible food being sent out from the kitchen. I've never seen anything like it. Finally the very nice and pleasant jade agreed to sort out refund but I really felt for her as she was just fire fighting. The waiting staff were bringing out food and the tables had been abandoned and refunds already given . The place has gone down hill, it's very dirty and unkempt and sticky. The toilets are discussing and really smell. Don't eat here . Don't bring family here .

Only went because of the kids' play area, Sunday carvery was good but the service for drinks is shocking

We used to come here alot we came here today for a festive lunch which was very disappointing. we waited over an hour for lunch it wasn't very warm when it did arrive very dry and not very nice also we have allergies and two items were on the plate that shouldn't have been there. we will not be coming here again. Very disappointed and the restaurant seems very understaffed

Oh dear, took advantage of the 50% deal on mains, surely if you are going to offer a deal to increase the amount of people visiting the venue it would make sense to staff the pub. Queued to order, was told 40min wait, luckily our meals arrived within 30mins, food was adequate although temperature was just about acceptable, I hate cold food, finished our meal but had to enquire when we would be served our desert. All in all we won't return even with 50% off, management need to sort out staffing and get the place cleaned.

Great breakfast and children under 16 eat for free staff helpful and friendly as much tea and coffee as you like latte was very nice you can also eat as much as you can for £9.99 well worth a visit

Terrible, been here a couple of times visiting a local attraction and staying at the attached premier inn. Both were disappointing. The breakfast was barely warm, definitely below safe holding temperature for foods to be kept at a buffet breakfast service. Poorly staffed at the bar aswell on an evening and service was too slow. Won't be back.

Where do I start....... booked online.... didn't work, called up and booked, turned up no booking...... went to bar whilst table getting ready, barmaid did nothing but complain and huff and puff everything was a chore and she was coughing over everything. Table ready so shown to table by a nice lady in the children's area to have the lady from the playarea complaining to all the customers about how bad the day had been. Food eventually arrived, cold and so greasy :( certainly won't be returning. Couldn't understand the que at the door for guests arriving, felt quite sorry for them but hope they had a more pleasant experience than we did

Similar to the other reviews, understaffed seems to be key. Waited 25 mins for a drink as no staff at the bar, then a further 20 mins in the queue for food to be told ther is a 40 min wait on food 🙈 if it wasnt for the play area this place would be getting swerved.

Fantastic enjoyed every minute of it shame life was out of order but we enjoyed being in the bar good atmosphere.

I have been three times and every time the service is a shambles. The last time we were there we waited over an hour for desserts. I got a refund, packed up all our stuff to leave with our kids and on the way out or deserts turned up. The food is ok and the place is nice. It's a shame about the service. The staff member at the play area was first class though. She did everything she could to help.

Awful place waited 2 hours for our meal. Like a child's playground kids running around everywhere. Definitely won't be back.

Waited ages to be seated even tho it was booked in advance, Food took ages to come out, when it did it was all cold kids pizza was rock hard, potions were small, Dr Pepper was empty in the refills, when telling the staff they laght it off complaining about there job and saying there bar staff not kitchen staff, we orderd desserts and was asked to move before it came to the table, kids play area closed at 7pm so we where forced to sit with people who wanted nothing more than to have a quiet meal while we had to lively children waiting for there puddings, I felt this spoiled the other diners expirance not wanting to eat around two bouncy kids, this made us feel right out of place and apologising to the diners for having been forced into this predicament, I will not be going again and will not be recomending the burleydam to anyone. On leaving the place my childed fell in the poorly lit uneven carpark

90 mins for a luke warm dinner !!! If the kids are off why set up a discount days cheaper deal when theres no staff in the kitchen ? The place needs management review and a clean , its mouldy & dated. Its usually empty but being busy it needs staff to cope with it.

Terrible service full of Irish travellers when I arrived manger not Interested as they were spending money food awful, no buffet for breakfast take your order for breakfast and waited half hour for food which was wrong no orange juice available at breakfast just a empty jug never again will I step foot in this place again avoid like the plague

A bit run down with no proper ales, but the food is okay for the price, the staff are helpful and friendly and the buffet breakfast is great.
