You are greeted and made to feel welcome by real Italian momma! Excellent and efficient service with the food priced extremely affordable. But then, my main gripe. The restaurant has zero to none acoustics which makes conversation and enjoying yourself impossible. The food was also not the best Italian I have tasted in Clapham.

Another delicious meal here with friends. It’s authentically Italian with wonderful food, friendly service and good value for money. 5⭐️

Without doubt one of the most friendly & welcoming restaurant around, the whole team create a great engaged customer service. Food is always excellent with a changing selection of specials to choose from. Highly recommend whatever the occasion from a casual dinning to celebration.

The unbearable noise in this restaurant makes any conversation impossible, unless you shout into a neighbour's ear. The natural acoustic is already loud, and it astonishes me that they feel that very loud music is in any way helpful. That was bad enough, but my food was really really poor. I chose one of the specials - monkfish - which was just awful; overcooked, in a distasteful white sauce with raisins......'nestling' on a couple of small, thin slices of potato. Certainly the pastas looked better, but my fiends' verdict was very luke warm.I have been there for lunch - in the quieter conservatory, which was preferable, but, honestly, I will NEVER go again......just pop across the road to a more authentic HOSTERIA BOLOGNA.

Great food. Was intimidated into paying the service charge on the card machine and it was a horrible end to a tasty meal..

My girlfriend and I came here for dinner and were really pleased we had. Service throughout was perfect (especially from Elton) and what we ate and drank were all great. I’m not in Clapham often but whenever I am in the future, I’ll head back here.

Had lunch with friends. We had the garlic bread (actually is a pizza, thin crust, good for sharing), the lasagna, gnocchis and the spaghetti with meatballs. Everything tasty, prices around 9-10£ per main. Nice and friendly service

My TRANCIO DI MERLUZZO was amazing! It was pan-fried cod wrapped in pancetta bacon, with a warm salad of cauliflower, sun dried tomatoes and olives. My wife is vegeterian and ahd plenty of options available. We felt as though we were in Italy as the waiting staff and many customers were Italian which is obviously a good sign.

Good tasty pasta and meatballs, lots of Parmesan, glass of white wine and chocolate fondant for dessert - what's not to love on a cold and wet November lunchtime? The restaurant is large and wasn't busy at all, the food was nice, our waiter polite and attentive - wasn't overly wowed but certainly wasn't disappointed, especially when chocolate pud arrived and silenced us all. All good value too.

Hit or miss depending on the day and on what you order, I think. The chicken shawarma wrap is delicious and juicy! The halloumi one - not so much. The chips/fries are terrible, probably the cheapest/worst brand of frozen ones out there. Cleanliness wise, well, best not to look.. 😅

I lived across the street at 6 University Mansions from June through September of 1974 and after 50 years I’m finally returning this time with my wife and daughter! I simply can’t travel to London without returning to the Iconic Star and Garter…for lunch, drinks and sharing so many fond memories spent with new friends and my UK family…late night walks along the river and through Bishops Park…I cannot return to London without returning to the beloved Star and Garter…to reminisce…well of course…but also to discover and appreciate the changes that I know 50 years has surely brought…I have wonderful memories and great expectations…can hardly wait to walk through the doors and like MacArthur in the Philippines announce to the World …well actually more modestly to my family “I Have Returned”…🇺🇸•🏴•🇬🇧 ❤️🤍💙!!!

Food- I will upload photos to understand the ‘expectation vs reality’ for their parcels without any words. Secondly, majority of food I would have wanted- sold out in a daylight. Clean food is clean food but if you are only offered burgers - it just gets a bit out of hand. Service- the front of house was empty when we entered. The whole place was actually empty so it looked like it was closed. No welcome whatsoever. We really doubted it from second one. The serving girl turned out to be there, hanging out in the kitchen since there were no orders to gand out. Secondly, chef was wearing wireless earphones while in action. Imagine they fell into your food… gross. Atmosphere- as mentioned. No welcoming whatsoever, awkward. Chairs by the entrance around round tables are light and in a non-washable material, full of food stains, spillages and god knows what else. It really is putting off, and suggests to rather leave faster than seat in to eat.

We've been here before, maybe a year ago and the experience was good, however on this occasion it was poor. We selected what we wanted from the website menu however when we arrived it was apparent that the website menu was out of date; some of our selections were not on the table menu. Two of our party selected Sausages and mash but there were no sausages so had to select something else. Three of us ordered fish & chips but bizarrely there was no vinegar available. It's the first establishment I've ever been to where you couldn't get vinegar with fish and chips. One of our party ordered a burger which was supposed to have two patties but was more like one and a half. He went to complain about it but nobody came back to us. When paying at the bar I mentioned the burger issue and the guy I was talking to went off to check with the server and he knocked this meal off the bill. I also pointed out that they had missed £60 worth of wine off the bill. He added it on to the bill but I didn't get any thanks for this. Wish I hadn't bothered now. I feel that the main issue however was the demeanour of the staff. Instead of "I'm awfully sorry we've ran out of vinegar" and maybe an explanation of why, it was "we haven't got any vinegar". It wasn't " I'm really sorry, we've had a run on the sausages and there aren't any left" or something like that, it was "we haven't got any sausages", It wasn't "we're really sorry the burger meal wasn't up to our usual standard" or something like that, it was "I've knocked it off the bill". It wasn't "oh, that's really good of you to let us know we'd missed the wine off the bill" or something like that. It was, well nothing really, it just got added to the bill. It was if having customers there was an inconvenience to the staff. There was minimal eye contact, no smiles and avoiding contact with customers as much as possible appeared evident. Wish we had gone somewhere else. We certainly won't be going again. I'm writing this in response to an email from the Nine Elms Tavern saying that my option matters. It will be interesting to see what, if any, response I get to this.
