Casa Manolo, Clapham Junction in Wandsworth

I’ve been meaning to write a review for Casa Manolo Clapham. I first found it by chance looking for lunch with my daughter. We enjoyed lovely Tapas and lovely Spanish waiting staff. I’ve since been back on separate occasions with my son, daughter in law, and lunch with two close friends. It’s quite charming in its casual approach, and warm welcome. We have a friends special birthday coming up very soon, and it’s under consideration to have it at Casa Manolo. If you think about going, do!

Unfortunately have to give this place 2 stars, even the staff were really nice. I was lied to how many grams of Jamon I am buying. I bought jamon iberico de bellota, 5J, the most expensive product they offer. They state that in the pack it is 100 grams however when I arrived back home I decided to check out of interest if it’s really 100 grams. And guess what it was 80 grams and 20 grams missing. I paid £29 and the %20 of the products were missing. I don’t believe it’s a coincidence, most likely this is how people get lied to. Make sure you check what’s in the package even it states it is what they tell you it is.

Not worth the calories or the price. The special antipasto were olives from a can that I often buy in the supermarket, the croquettes were quite nice (slightly burnt) but pretty sure they had been bought from the supermarket freezer section, and the paella had pre-prepared supermarket veg in it, basically something you would make at home for a mid-week dinner 🤣 Whilst it all tasted pleasant, definitely not worth the price. The wine was nice though.... An amusing experience if you have a sense of humour, but wouldn't recommend for a special night out, just a desperate 'there's no space anywhere else and I'm really hungry option.'

Menu is extensive and the food is incredible!! Wine to pair with your Meal, also try the sherry! Service is friendly and easy. Love love love this place!

Great staff, fantastic food and the draft beer is to die for. If your not sure what to order just ask Maria and she will talk you through the menu.

The best tapas and draught beer in the zone

Hi, I’m want to start off by saying that I truly love your restaurant – I love the food, the events, the people, the atmosphere. I’ve even found myself buying gift baskets from you guys for valentines, anniversaries and Father’s Day. Which makes this note harder to write. I don’t like leaving bad reviews but after the events last night, I feel I have to. Four weeks ago, I made a reservation to book a table for 2 for the Flamenco show on November 16th at the Clapham location at 8pm as advertised online. I even spoke to two different people yesterday (November 16th) during the day who confirmed my reservation. To my surprise, I arrived at the restaurant last night 10mins before my reservation was due to start and your staff found it amusing when I said that I had a reservation. They told me that more people had shown up than they had anticipated so they decided not to honour reservations, especially because they didn’t want to feel bad for telling people not to sit at tables because they were reserved. They even said I should have come earlier, even though my reservation was not till 8pm. For a second, I thought they were joking but sadly they weren’t. I was told that I could just stand in the packed restaurant and watch the show. This to me showed lack of seriousness as a restaurant and from the staff. I didn’t book a table just to watch the show. I booked a table to have dinner. And for the issue to be dismissed just like that is incredibly frustrating, as a long-standing customer, especially when I did exactly what I was told through your ad - make a reservation weeks ago. In the restaurant industry, priority is always be given to those who actually took the time to make reservations and planned on attending weeks in advance, not to those who just turn up last minute. In the future, please don’t advertise to book a table and then decide not to honour the reservations. This is called bait and switch and it’s considered not good business practice. You are a restaurant, so it shouldn’t be unusual to put “reserved” signs on tables. People are used to that. Last night was supposed to be a fun night for my mom who was visiting from the States. But instead, we felt pretty dismissed and were left scrambling trying to find a restaurant to have dinner last minute on a Thursday night.

Very dissapointed. Booked for a special ocassion, called to confirmed, however no table even chairs at the bar on arrival. Manager ignoring while awaiting for available table, we had to leave after an hour standing. Not recommended poor service and manager atitude.

We came for the tapas taster night, and it did not disappoint. Great wine with friendly waiters, and every 10 minutes they brought out a different taster. So delicious, and we also decided to order a few plates which again did not disappoint. Fresh, good quality ingredients, that they are proud of and great value. Definitely would recommend.

Always walked past this place and it looked intriguing, finally went, staff ok and seating ok but seriously not good value £22 for a tiny plate of cheese and ham . Seriously be warned. They even tried to charge us more for bread which was noted on the menu under the dish. Ham and cheese ok but nothing special to even consider charging £22 for hardly anything. Whilst we were there a lady also got her prada bag stolen, hardly anyone in but someone still managed to steal her bag. Be warned, better value and experience elsewhere.

Foind this place by chance whilst waiting for a train. Everything was absolutely spot on. Food was sensational and authentic, service friendly and quick - really was a great experience, Well done!

I was really disappointed by this place, my original thought was 'ahh cool little Spanish Tapas bar in the high street. Reality is not really Tapas at all and staff couldn't wait to push us out of the door. I will say the signature Truffle cheese and the Jamon was very good, but overall, two glasses of wine and four 'tapas' setting me back just shy of £100? That was a WOW moment. I won't be rushing back.

My cheese and jamón bellota was a little stale. After living in Spain for many years it didn't quite relive my memory. £18 for extremely thin pieces of cheese, jamón I can understand as expensive 😳🤷🏽‍♀️

A gem of a tapas place. Seems thousands walk by it each day as is not crowded. Do step in and try it though. Food is terrific

I'm not in the habit of writing critical restaurant reviews. I usually just let bad experiences pass but this one was so poor and so overpriced that I have decided to leave this one. I should have realised the pricing when I was told that a piece of pork loin I wanted to buy cost £40. But I was with one of my sons and one of my grandchildren and I wasn't paying enough attention. The cost of the potatoes bravas I bought for my three year old grandson says it all. £10 for a plate of diced potatoes no larger than a normal side dish elsewhere. Silly price for such an average dish.The rest of the food was just about okay but nothing special. I came away feeling ripped off even though I know about rising food prices and costs as I regularly eat out all over London.

We are a Spanish couple who have been living in London for several years. It has always been a place where we have enjoyed going to eat a “bocadillo de jamon” with a beer. However, this last time we ordered delivery and the quality was pretty bad. The sandwich was wet because the juice from the olives had spilled. It was also broken, and as you can see, the bread with tomato is not very good. The is tomato only on one side and not that much. Same about olive oil… can’t barely see it. The olives were not very good either... for £7 I would expect at least the best quality olives, and even then it would seem expensive. I think in general, the price of everything is very high, even compared to restaurants in London. The quality of the ham is good, though.

Veryyy nice croquetas. I tried the jamón and cheese croquetas (4 with jamón, 4 with cheese) and the cheese was toooo strong for my liking, if you like strong cheese you would be a bigger fan than me of the cheese croquetas. The jamón ones were my favourites and they seemed freshly made which we love. In addition, Tania gave us some “pata negra” jamón and it was delicious. Moreover, I was a bit disappointed when we were asked if we wanted some food to try while we waited for the croquettes and then we were charged 22€ for a plate of cheese. The truffle cheese was really good tho but I just wasn’t expecting to be charged when they offered to give us it while we waited. I really liked the environment and the vibes, I’ll be coming back to try more things on the menu. The staff was very nice!

The food was obviously Spanish as it should be but on the main menu there was nothing I would eat ie pigs trotters, cheeks, oxtail.... But I did have a fantastic paella. Seafood was lovely. Be careful with the wine, make sure you know what it will cost as they suggested a white wine, which was nice but it cost us £51.00!! The whole meal was £115.00 so should have asked for the price of the wine. Hey ho, a nice lunch out.....

Authentic Spanish lunch, cosy atmosphere, great service ..

Went in for lunch and drinks. The food was sensational. So good we went back again in the evening on the same day. Great hard working staff too.

Great little tapas bar, quiet when we went in, food was good quality but a little overpriced even with today's expenses for the hospitality industry.

My husband found this restaurant by chance when meeting up with some friends in Clapham. Fantastic tapas and great service.

Absolute perfection! My partner and I happened to be in the area and popped in for lunch randomly and we’re so glad we did. The pork cheeks were incredible, as were the patatas bravas and chorizo. Honestly, the food was out of this world. Delicious wine, too. I can’t leave a review for Casa Manolo without mentioning the wonderful staff, who were so kind and knowledgeable. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. We’ll be back!

Great little Spanish tapas bar. Walked past many times but glad I popped in for a drink and a bite to eat. Definitely be back.

The team here is super friendly and very knowledgeable. Feel like at home, it tastes like home. Always a great choice. The selection of ham and wines are amazing.

I'd question if this is a real tapas restaurant. Whatever it was it wasn't cheap and the food quite unremarkable. The following weekend we went to a great Tapas bar in Soho, paid less and the food was outstanding. That said, the restaurant staff were pleasant enough. Just need to fix the food.

Nice food. Good wine. Disappointing service- after spending over £100 for 2, we've been chased down the street being asked to come back and prove we paid for our dinner. We came back, our waitress confirmed that we've paid and the manager didn't even apologise. Quite disappointing.

He venido de turismo a Londres y lo primero que he hecho ha sido comer la comida española en Casa Manolo, recomendable 100 x 100, ya tendré tiempo de probar la autóctona, de momento me quedo con los jamones y todos los productos de Casa Manolo.

Food quality it's average, the wine list is very limited and a super small glass is for £9 if you pick "the best one" well the stuff always pushes you to pick that one without really recommending a wine based on what you really fancy taste wise. 0 vibes and staff always talk in Spanish which it could be nice if they were more friendly and engaging with costumers.

Always great to have a drink and tapas here.

Popped in to buy Christmas ham for boyfriend, so friendly really helpful

I found this place by chance, at first I was thinking of buying some cheese and quince, but then I realized that they also served tapas inside, so I couldn't resist trying what they served. As a Spaniard, it is difficult to find a place in London where they serve you a good beer (Estrella Galicia on barrel and 1925) and good food. I ate the Galician octopus and the oxtail, honestly, the octopus was delicious, and the oxtail was good but I expected something more. The service is exquisite, exactly what you look for when you want to enjoy a good meal. Overall, a very good experience and I'll be back soon for sure, I still have dishes to try and a good time to share :)

I had my birthday meal here last night with a big group booking of about 18 people. I just wanted to write here and say a big thank you for such a special night. The food was delicious and the service was brilliant. You were extremely tolerant of me and my very loud friends! I would recommend to anyone looking to somewhere to celebrate with friends. Will be back in a quieter setting!!

Absolutely hands down the worse tapas that I have ever eaten. The best part although underwhelming was a cold plate (very small) with 4 triangular slices of cheese with a small amount of cured meat. No bread included so we ordered some. The meatballs came in an unpleasant stewed looking gravey with carrots, cauliflower and another soggy looking vegetable not the usual tomato based sauce. I did try them but found there was something strange and crunchy inside, not good and honestly it put me off an already very disappointing lunch. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are just going for a drink.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING HYGIENE STANDARDS. My dad and I thought we'd pop in for a nice meal even though it was EMPTY. They were playing blarring music not even Spanish music. The toilet HAND WASH BASIN TAP WAS NOT WORKING SO COULD NOT WASH MY HANDS!!! ILLEGAL!!! I asked for a glass of water and they bought out a plastic food container from the kitchen (so obviously a FOOD CONTAINER). I again asked for a GLASS of water but got a wine cooler instead. Whilst the waiter was getting the water I popped my head into the kitchen. IT WAS DIMMLEY LIT so no proper lighting for safely preparing food or keeping rodents or BACTERIA AWAY. We paid for the wine and left before eating. RANCID PLACE.

This place is a hidden gem in Clapham Junction. Absolutely my favourite place for a quick drink after work if I don't have time for dinner. They give you a small free appetiser with every drink you order just like in Spain and it's super friendly too the staff are lovely. Have also had dinner here on a few occasions the garlic prawns are a must have always so delicious.

Definitely my favourite local Spanish restaurant. Highly recommend pan con tomate, I had it with jamón on top and it was excellent. The croquettes were also fab. My boyfriend loves the anchovies, and, even as someone who isn’t usually a fan, I enjoyed a few. It’s not the cheapest place around but you pay for what you get!

Fantastic meal tonight. Hard to beat Spanish tapas, especially with such top quality ingredients. The delicatessen looked absolutely amazing. First class service with tapas between 3 including Chorizo sausages, spicy patatas, veal, pork cheeks and Spanish omelette. All 1st class and would highly recommend.

we ordered a sandwich with serrano ham and machego cheese the sandwich was dry and with a small slice of cheese and ham,the bread is a french baguette that you cans buy in supermarket!!!they keep the sandwiches out of the fridge and under the sun light in the window display imagine what you can eat….buy a baguette and some Spanish ham and cheese at LIDL and you won’t be disappointed!!!

Simply delicious and pleasant place!

They scam you on the weight of the Iberian ham packages you buy. I have bought packs of expensive high end Iberian ham from this shop/restaurant on two occasions separated by a year. The price is around £22.5 per 100 grams, and the packs are sold as 100 gram net weight packs. Par for the course, it is expensive stuff. However every single pack I have purchased from Casa Manolo Clapham, when I weigh the contents at home comes to between 80g and 85g. That was the case last year, and again a few days ago when I tried again hoping that a change of staff might have "repaired" their faulty scales. Nope, it seems their scales are still short changing customers to the tune of 20%-15%. For the avoidance of doubt, my own scales at home read 100g when I put a 100g package of pine nuts on them, i.e., there's no problem with my own scales. Is this happening at the Clapham store only? Or is it institutionalised across all Casa Manolos? I'd be interested to hear other people's experiences.

Food is average. Service is slow. Took 2hour for the paella. Not cheap as well. Not worth it. Padron peppers didn’t had salt. Potatos looked like were there for a while. Not recommended

Amaizing Spanish place! One of my favorite! As usual very good wine, croquetas and of course jamon 🇪🇸 very friendly staff, definitely will come back! They have live Spanish Flamenco💃 thank you guys for your warm hospitality 😉

I went to Casa Manolo in Clapham Junction on Saturday 12 March 2022 to buy a jamon bocadillo. I had a loyalty card with all 10 stamps so should have been entitled to a free sandwich. Instead, I was told I would get a free sandwich next time, and I also didn't get a stamp when I bought my sandwich today. Am I missing something? Disappointed as I regularly buy items from this Casa Manolo branch... Unless they don't do loyalty cards anymore.

Definitley to much expensive for the portions !!!! We had a sharing plate of cured meat and cheese for 22£ for a few little slice of meat and 5 little slice of cheese each ( we were 5ppl). The guys were super nice e friendly but unfortuntley the service has been not the greatest !!! Confusional menu for who is not spanish , no raccomandation at all from servers that's why we order something not matching with our expectation. I m expect to be recomended for the chose of the dishes to be ordered considering also how many people are sitting at the table. Btw pulpo 5stars.

Excellent Sangria and ham to die for!

Absolutely love their jamón sandwiches. Always get one when I'm in London. I like them simple - jamón and baguette only (no cheese, tomato or olive oil). One of my favourite snacks / lunches.

What an amazing evening complete with flamenco which we weren't expecting! Great food and wine too, lovely atmosphere, super friendly staff, authentic hams and cheese.

Perfect solo date at Casa Manolo, the food and wine was delicious. I had the Pulpo a la Gallega (Octopus with creamy mash potatoes, paprika and olive oil)- it was delightful, well seasoned and perfect portion size, also went well with the recommended white wine. I will definitely be back! The service was also great and I would certainly recommend.

Overpriced food, with the worst possible quality, ask for the chef..... there isn't, everything is frozen!!! The waiter told that they have to live in one of their accomodations in other to work there, then they take a portion of their salary.... OMG this is horrible!!! Zero starsssssss

Always friendly, very genuine Spanish feel and experience (according to my Spanish partner!). Never had a bad meal, and perfect to drop in for a Caña or two of Alhambra!

Went here for long lunch on a Saturday. Kevin was incredibly helpful, friendly, and added to the amazing experience we had there. Food is gorgeous. Highly recommended.

Excellent (if slightly pricy) tapas dishes. Good, Spanish service. Very good Casa Manolo branded white wine. Have to take away some 'Cinco Jotas' jamon, too...

Delicious selection of cheeses, meats and wines

This place doesn’t make me miss ‘Jamon’ anymore leaving in London. I just took A Bocadillo of Jamon and a pint of Mohou beer and it made me go back in time when I used to live in Madrid! Go here if you want to taste a ham that is quite above the average of Spanish standard ham! See you soon! Claudio

Spanish place with really good ham, we had dinner and the best dishes were the toasts, croquetas were dried, padron peppers and bravas were good enough. Boquerones were a bit dried as well and very expensive for the portion we ordered. Service was good and they served the food very quick. My recommendation will be to visit this place to eat something quick and choose the best items!
