It is a real shame that this restaurant has closed down, it is not common to find good alternative style restaurants as opposed to your usual Italian and American style food. I hope this is just a relocation as opposed to it being closed down.

Went to Doukan in Wandsworth town last night and was blown away by how appalling the service was. Everyone at the table had their food accept me, waited over 20 minutes with no word of apology after chasing them several times about it. In the end told them not to bother and they still tried to charge me for the food that never arrived and a lager they never delivered. The toilets were flooded too, I could go on but just too much to mention wrong with this place.

This was an average meal, service a little slow, mains ok. Starters poor. Prawn and muscles starter comprised of 3 butterflied prawns and 2 eatable muscles (some shells closed). Glad ordered two starters ... The Harisa chicken was too hot and the minty yogurt provided wasn't a great quality one. My partner enjoyed her meal so one of us was happy. Service slow we paid on way out as couldn't wait any longer for service. Then they had the audacity to charge service automatically at 12.5% I would not have tipped this meal. Atmosphere good shame food didn't match.

Doukan is an absolute gem. I am a (very) regular visitor to Doukan as I work around the corner, all of my colleagues go there on a regular basis too. The food is amazing. We always usually go for the wraps (chargrilled chicken) or the salad boxes to take out, its amazing to have such a fresh and tasty restaurant that serves take out lunch. I must disagree with the negative post below as 'the lady' is the most helpful and friendly person you will ever meet, and I am surprised that anyone has a bad word to say about her. She is very generous with her servings so much so that the filling always over spills the wraps. All of the staff are lovely and very helpful and also give you the same portion size.

I work around the corner from the restaurant and visit around once a week. The food is so delicious and the lunch box portions are very large as well as the 2 course set menu offer for £10 often being too much to finish! Our office is round the corner from Doukan, and it's become an absolute lunchtime favourite! The salads are always fresh, and change each day, so there's a great variety of different choices, as well as flatbreads and wraps. Portions are always really generous, especially on the salads, and the staff are friendly, smiley and chatty - always a pleasure to go in there at lunchtime! I often visit Doukan as I work just round the corner and have encouraged my work colleagues to visit too (which they have). We have a takeaway lunch box for £7. The taste of the food is very good BUT the portion size varies lot depending on who serves you and the heat of the food also varies. The gentlemen serving in Doukan are lovely and fair with choice and quantity. Definitely not over sized portions but just right :-) The lady, however, is very stingy and is deceiving which how much she puts in. Chatting quickly at us will not obstruct our observations and comparisons. Take a leaf out of the guys books and don't just see the £££'s with greed because your flavors are excellent and I don't want to stop using your establishment!

We stopped by one mid week evening for dinner. The place is much larger than it looks from the outside. I didn't think much about the decor in the front room but the dining room was very pretty. I would definitely recommend this place for a dinner date. The restaurant serves fresh juice and the food exceeded our expectations! The staff were also incredibly helpful and friendly. We ordered an aubergine dip, lamb couscous and the grilled sausage with salad. I would happily re-order our selection but my favourite was the aubergine dip - very flavourful. The chef came by towards the end to ask whether we enjoyed the food - a very nice gesture. After dinner, we also had some shisha (real charcoal - not magic coal!) and the bill totalled under £60 without alcohol. Good value for the quality meal we had.

Had a lovely birthday meal here, food was as good as anticipated, except the fruit in the lamb tagine was horribly cold. And have to disagree on the dessert I tried after the recommendation below - chocolate cigars were very disappointing, could hardly get though them with a spoon (staff joked they should've given me a knife?) and didn't taste that nice at all. Was a bit annoyed with the compulsory service charge that was added for the 2 of us when we were the the only ones in the restaurant most of the time and we had to eventually go to the bar to pay so we could carry on elsewhere. Also narked to later notice a special offer on the menu which included exactly what we'd ordered but we were still charged full price? Bit mean for newcomers we thought. So, a few gripes but starter & mains were very good and cocktails were fab in happy hour.

I visited Doukan with high hopes, if it's good enough for Gordan Ramsey then it's more than good enough for me I though! The restaurant has a really nice feel, a little bit dark but definitely cosy with an open fire at one end. Service was prompt an the staff very helpful and polite. Food is good, not mind blowing but nice enough. The problem though, where was the rest of it?? I opted for the 2 courses for £20 deal as the waiter suggested which may have meant I received smaller than usual portions but there needed to be about 50% more on my plate. I can't recall a time where I've left a restaurant after 3 courses and still been hungry, so much so that I went straight across the road into the supermarket and brought a huge bag of crisps.

Having just moved into the area, we went searching for somewhere to eat with a difference. The Moroccan Doukan restaurant looked very inviting so we asked for a table for 2. The staff were highly proficient and polite and explained the menu options available. Being Sunday, a buffet was one of the choices which we decided to try. We were not disappointed. The quality of the food was amazing and there was such a huge choice. For only £19.95, there was unlimited visits to the buffet for starter main and desert and a free glass of Prosceco. The ambience of the venue was first class with a roaring fire and tasteful music. A highly recommended restaurant which we will certainly be visiting on a regular basis.

Went to Doukan on Sunday for lunch. The buffet looked amazing - eat as much as you want for £15. We were very tempted and then the menu arrived and I chose the meatball tagine and my friend chose the chicken - it was outstanding as usual. The atmosphere was lovely - the place was packed and there was a roaring open fire in the back room which made it feel lovely and cosy on the cold afternoon. The prices are very reasonable though they do add a service charge - which was pointed out to me when I went to pay and wanted to add a tip - pity as I wanted to give them double what the service charge was! This unassuming restaurant on a small high street by Wandsworth town train station is an absolute find. Seriously if you live in the area (or can travel to the area) it's a must visit sort of place. The food is divine. Moroccan dishes bursting with flavours. Nothing overpowering - nothing artificial. Just beautiful fresh well cooked food. The decor is very chic and the ambience is chilled and informal. I've been a number of times and the best dish they ever made was a Moroccan twist on a lamb Sunday roast where the lamb fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. Yum!!!Service can be a little slow and inattentive - the waiting staff are not of the same high calibre as the manager and kitchen staff. Something I forgive them of but maybe some customers wouldn't - a point for improvement. As I say if you are after a great restaurant in Wandsworth or a Moroccan in south west London the this is the first place you should visit. I'll be back as I have been a number of times.

We had a beautiful Moroccan buffet with family and friends at Doukan's last Sunday to celebrate my daughter’s Holy Communion. I know that i like Moroccan food however i was a bit nervous about that as i was taking about 20 people of all ages and most of them had never experienced that sort of food. The venue is modern Moorish ( i was told that it had just been renovated) with a homely feeling at the same time. Khalil, the owner, prepared for us from slowly cooked lamb to aubergines marinated in olive oil, pomegranate, mint and vinegar; lentil and and roasted pumpkin dip; broccoli fritters; fried courgettes and roasted peppers in cumin and coriander and more....The food was just divine, plenty of different flavours well combined together and beautiful colours reminiscent of the Mediterranean and the service matched it by being professional, friendly but not intrusive. Everyone felt very relaxed and just loved the food. I will definitely go back there "en tete a tete" with my wife or just for a drink with friends although i don't think i will resist the temptation of a few Moroccan tapas!! I visited this restaurant in March with my partner. My first impressions were that the decor was good quality and genuinely Moroccan. I had a good feeling about the restaurant. The service was ok, we waited a bit long for our food order to be taken but that was no biggie. The main issue here is the food. Firstly the food for me was a tad expensive. This is relative of course but I would advise checking the menu online before you go to see whether you are ok with the prices. Secondly I was a little disappointed with the food quality which was definitely good but not outstanding. Also the portions were small with small or no complimentary sides. Overall a mixed bag really, good venue, above average service but average food particularly the cost.

I’d read good things about Doukan and hadn’t eaten Moroccan food for quite some time. We were welcomed by the owner Khalil, the larger than life host who offered us a warm welcome and was hospitable and accommodating throughout. Our entourage went on a Saturday evening and included in the deal was half a bottle of wine (or two bottles of beer) per person (had we known this we wouldn’t have spent as much at the bar before our meal!). Starters were terrific; thankfully the waiter brought platters so we could get stuck in to each, I’d advise you ask for the same as each of them are delicious (crispy broccoli and lamb sausages in particular). As for the main dishes, again these were first rate. I had a Djaj Mechoui; a wonderful marinated, chargrilled chicken. Beautifully prepared and with a wonderful more-ish (or should I say Moorish) taste. I should add that service throughout was brilliant with the staff very helpful and the charming Khalil ensuring sure that our needs were met.On the whole we had an excellent evening. The bar on its own is a stylish affair so you get the best of both worlds. We were really pleased to find that our receipt included 50% off our next dish provided we book within 28 days; that, we are more than happy to do and will return even without a discount.Fully worth a visit.

This is a genuine and unpretentious restaurant, I have been there quite a few times but finally decided to write a review as I think it really deserves it. The food is simply delicious. Although the service had been frustratingly slow in the past, it is currently very good: friendly and efficient. The decoration is typical Moroccan, with a very elegant touch, and the place is warm and spacious. The owners, Moroccan and French, are very welcoming and the price is right. Everything tastes very natural and home-made. Excellent Buffet-Brunch on Sundays!

This place looks great - like a proper Moroccan restaurant. The food they have on the menu seems authentic - tagine and the like.Unfortunately, despite a comfortable table, and lovely atmosphere, the food was pretty average and nothing to write home about. Most depressing was that the authentic Moroccan dishes that *should* have been good just weren't.We had the mixed platter for starters which was pretty nice. Lovely battered vegetables, lamb sausages and little stuffed pastry things. Good so far.For my main course I had a tagine. I'm no expert on tagines, but when I've had them before the 'wizards hat' top is lifted off to reveal a delicious mix of cous cous, vegetables and meat. With Doukan's tagine I got meat balls and a poached egg floating in a tomatoey sauce. Cous cous I have to order as a side.Sure- I expected all of that - what I didn't expect was just how tasteless the different elements of the dish were. The meat wasn't seasoned at all, and the tomato jus was very watery. The cous cous also was tasteless and not really worth ordering. So - all in all really disappointing. On the plus side, we were treated very well, and service was quick and efficient.

Another wonderful evening spent enjoying the warmth and opulence of Doukan, which was much appreciated, as the rain of an English autumn evening torrented down outside. The ambience is cosy and warm, bathed in candlelight and the comfort of the banquet seating added to the pleasure. My companion and I chose the three course menu, which included a glass of Prosecco and half a bottle of wine each, as well as canapés and then full choice from the menu at each of the three courses - exceptionally good value at £30 per head. The food was delicious; we shared the mixed platter of starters, which contained a taste of virtually every starter on the menu - homemade humous, lamb parcels wrapped in wafer thin pastry, accompanied by a date sauce, hot merguez sausages, as well as many others. My companied then enjoyed the slow cooked lamb with spicy couscous and tomato jam, whilst I tucked into my lamb tagine with prunes and apricots, which was succulent, tender and beautifully spiced. Although there is a wide choice of desserts, we were both feeling very well fed by this point and opted for the selection of Moroccan pastries, stuffed with dates and walnuts, mint tea and Moroccan coffee - the perfect way to end our sumptuous meal! A lovely memorable evening at which we were made to feel very welcome, not least because the owner and chef is very much in evidence and is involved in every detail, thus maintaining the high standards already set. He also seems to know all his clients and greets them all individually. Doukan also offers a wonderful Sunday lunch of mouth-watering, falling off the bone, slow cooked lamb, with raison gravy, which I have enjoyed on several occasions and would thoroughly recommend.

I have now been here several times as I am here on business for a few months. I'm working my way through the menu and haven't a bad word to say. The food is outstanding, service excellent and the atmosphere great. I have also brought my wife here and for one who doesn't eat meat very much she demolished the lamb (very tender) very readily. I've also tried the vegetarian dishes and been very impressed. The £19.95 for two courses is great value.

We had caught doukan down on the south bank and been wowed by the freshness and quantity, a friend recommended going to resturant and we were pleased with the same flavours and tastes there. The 19.95 taste menu with the glass of prosecco to clear your palate is such good value. The rice was cooked perfectly and the flavours worked perfectly. And then it got better, we went to the Chili festival at Bennington Lordship and they had a pop up resturant there, I can throughly recommend the chicken wrap and my wife had the cheese and seasoned meat flat bread, not much left there!! Flavours were so good that we bought some of their Harrisa paste, we had seen theirs sauces before, at the reatueant, but not sure what to do with them but the owner took time to talk us through the marinade options, but it was the tastes that made us buy it overall. Enjoy!!

hunting out these gems is great fun around sw london, the other being the new lebanese on queenstown rd sw8. this is an authentic morroccan style interior (no carpet sellers, fortunately fyi) in a pleasant road of independent shops (except costas!). the key here, i think, is that the owner manages the place. delicious looking baklava on the front counter greeted us. i have noted the most recent post about the "woeful food". we went 12 days ago and enjoyed the well cooked food that we ordered from a menu that we could have chosen many dishes from. needless to say this is not a restaurant with a particularly interesting wine list, but the Meantime pale ale beer was excellent. nice ambiance and wholeheartedly recommended!

I'm afraid I didn't enjoy the food here at all. The atmosphere is nice and the crowd is good but the food - for starters we ordered the mixed meat and veg platter. It was greasy and the flavours were all over the place, not in a nice way. For mains we had the cumin kebab and the lamb was overcooked, tough and flavourless. The rice was still a bit raw. All in all a horrible meal. A shame as like I said the ambience and atmosphere is good.

This is a great restaurant with really good service. The food was fabulous too. I was a bit disappointed that the Lamb Tagine was not available as I had been looking forward to having that all day!! However, the chicken tagine was lovely. We had the mixed platter between three for a starter which was plenty. The restaurant was quiet as it was Wednesday , but the atmosphere was still really nice and relaxed. All in all a very nice evening and I would definitely go back

This is an atmospheric local on our doorstep. We had visited once before one evening when the focus seemed to be more on the bar where the emphasis was on creating a funky vibe in a slightly dark atmosphere. However at lunchtime it was a bright space with a very welcoming French waitress. There was an extensive choice of food ranging from wraps to tagines. I sampled the set lunch menu enjoying a tuna and potato salad which was exquisite lay presented and very tasty. This was followed by a seafood paella. My wife enjoyed a chicken tagine; my daughter some spicy morgues sausages with a side order of chips. I noticed some enticing breakfast pastries on the way out. Clearly a restaurant which caters chameleon-like to different diners at different times of day.

I was looking for shrimp but due to the lunchtime rush i couldnt find a seat in a quiet place and by happy accident i found this establishment. Excellent burgers, each one a little unique and flavoured with interesting ingredients which compliment the patty. Friendly english speaking service and an english menu. Clean, modern and big screen soccer!

Starters probably decanted from pots of hummous and Tara from somerfield next door followed by and............... Great if you like it! Cremated sea bass with the flesh welded to the bone served with minimum interest from staff with a similar warmth to that of the food. Once was enough.

I visited here for the first time with my Aunt. It is a small, quaint place that could be hard to miss. Despite this, I absolutely enjoyed my experience here. The staff were so friendly, warm and polite. They went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our evening and the food. The menu is not extensive, but there is something there for everyone. My Aunt and I had the fishcake main, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It tasted fresh along with the sides. The best part was the Baileys cheesecake... to die for... to top it off it was reasonably priced. You do have the option of doing a 2- or 3-course meal for £15-£19.50 or A La Carte menu. Either way, this is highly recommended and I will visit again.
