A tad disappointed we had heard great things first of all great service and they accommodate our dog so thank you. The food was at best average the dhal and rice was poor however the aloo and dhal kachori was very nice as was a cabbage dish the puri were excellent and very reasonably priced…would we visit again? Unlikely as there was no wow that’s great factor.

We've eaten at Bundobust Leeds several times and have always enjoyed the food. The staff are very cheerful and more than happy to help. On Sunday my partner commented on the Okra fries being over cooked just as feedback for the chef. No sooner had it been said our server said he would refund us. He came back very apologetic saying the till wasn't working properly. We said not to worry. He went away and came back with 2 beer vouchers for next time. We always recommend Bundobust to people if we're asked for good places to eat. In Leeds. We'll be back sooner rather than later.

We left London with the first glimmer of sunlight in almost five days streaming through a misted up window. We arrived in Leeds with temperatures hovering above freezing, but feeling as if our train had just stopped in the Arctic. To make matters more interesting, the weather forecast predicted sleet and snow in the evening. Welcome to the grim north! I muttered under my vapour-exhaling breath, as one of my fellow cycling instructors, based in Manchester, usually quips. We hurried to our Airbnb, checked our temporary, weekend-only digs, and dashed out to have something to eat. It had been more than two and a half years since I had last been to Leeds. Interestingly, I had never eaten out here. My ex-partner moved to this Yorkshire city from her native London in her late teens, went to uni here, made a lot of friends, bought a house, built a life, and eventually decided to leave it all behind and go back to the Big Smoke, which was where we had met. During our relationship we came back up a couple of times, stayed near the Peak District, and on a few occasions drove to Leeds to visit her friends and eat at theirs. All that had always happened in summer, including the year when London hit forty degrees Celsius for the first time ever. In Yorkshire we got thirty five. That’s when you know climate change is real. Back to our long-planned Valentine’s weekend and my current girlfriend and I were starving by now. At the same time I was checking Accuweather constantly. I’d heard so much about the unpredictable winter weather in northern cities that I feared it as much as I normally fear getting caught up in a football crowd leaving the stadium. Especially when the home team has lost. Not that the weather had deterred people from dressing as if those thirty five degrees were still doing the rounds. Open-toed sandals (women) and bicep-flashing, short-sleeved T-shirts (men) were a common sight. Luckily we found the restaurant we’d set eyes on before leaving the Airbnb pretty quickly. Bundobust looked just like the kind of place that would feed us properly. Located on Mill Hill, a stone’s throw from Briggate, Leeds’ main shopping hub, this rustic-looking restaurant felt like home instantly. It was the sort of eatery that wouldn’t have looked out of place in hipster-magnet Shoreditch. Even though we were seated outside (and by now it was sleeting a bit) I felt part of the community straight away. It didn’t take us long to choose. The Vegan Combo for two promised enough food to fill our bellies. Made up of a cobis nu shack (a spiced up side dish consisting of cabbage, green peas, and potatoes), okra fries (which I didn’t know existed, let alone that they were a “thing”), sprout bhajis (the best bhajis I’ve ever had in my life. They were thick and filling), and bhel puri (popular Mumbai street food, where crispy, puffed rice is mixed with sweet tamarind chutney, spicy green chutney, garlic chutney, onions, tomatoes, sev and chaat masala) this was the sort of welcome we didn’t know we needed. Lastly, the whole combination was then garnished with coriander leaves, sev, and crushed papdis. All this was washed down with one of the better mango lassis I’ve ever had.just the right amount of sweetness and thickness. It had stopped drizzling by the time we headed back to our Airbnb. With the smell of so many aromatic spices and the taste of so many wonderful flavours still invading our senses (in a positive way, of course), my partner and I slowed our pace down. In fact, we even stopped every now and again to look at the Friday night revellers in their open-toed sandals and short-sleeved T-shirts, defying logic, and the elements.

Came in on a Thursday night and it was a very lively in Bundobust, with loads of people, chatter and great background music. This is not my first time here and it has always been a great experience with food, service, atmosphere and the value for money! This time especially wanted to shout out our server Dylan and the man who I assume was the manager/senior staff tonight for being so helpful, accommodating and careful when handling my mother as a guest with non-celiac gluten sensitivity! The menu already is all plant based and gluten free options, but the extra step and attention means a lot :) If you're after good veggie/vegan/gluten free options, great Indian cuisine with lively atmosphere and great service, look no further than this! This is a tried and true staple in Leeds city centre for a great meal.

Our daughter recently moved to Leeds and immediately went on the hunt for good vegetarian restaurants. She couldn’t stop singing the praises of this place and insisted the next time we visited that we ate here. A table was booked for 7:30 because this place is very popular. We were greeted and seated quickly and the waitress was very polite and professional. We ordered the combo for four with a few extras. This place also serves a wonderful selection of craft beers which compliment the food beautifully. Our food arrived in good time and was absolutely delicious. I must say, being a carnivore, on this night I did not miss the meat. I can see why my daughter raves about this place and today it has won two more fans. This place is a must visit and I will definitely be coming back.

At first hesitant. vegetarian Indian street food sounds bland and boring. On arrival you met with an unmatched atmosphere and kind service. Delicious food and great selection of drinks. Would really recommended.Indian street food - cooked to restaurant quality - and then served in cardboard bowls may have created a niche market, but it is a far cry from any street food I have eaten in India. There is a good atmosphere, and the story of the company is well told on menus and on the tables. There was enough food on the combo for 4, but it was like a small taster menu rather a meal for 4. It was tapas, Indian style.

Since moving to Leeds 18 months ago, I have eaten lunch at a different venue in Leeds once pretty much every week, meaning I have tried most of the best/recommended restaurants and cafes. Bundobust is my absolute favourite - the best place to eat in Leeds, and I keep finding myself coming back here rather than trying other joints. The food is all vegetarian (I am a meat eater but this doesn't bother me at all), served in small portions suitable for 1 or sharing between 2 or 3. They suggest 2-3 dishes per person and I think 2 is normally ample, and 3 definitely enough. that doesn’t stop us ordering 8 dishes between the 2 of us though, as the flavours of each are completely unique, and they are happy to give you a doggy bag if needed. It's not just the food that is great though, the atmosphere is superb with a warm, friendly welcoming feel, cool music and great vibe. The beer selection is superb, rotating regularly, with the staff happy to make recommendations and give tasters. Bundobust is the best way to start an evening out, a great spot for lunch, and brilliant whether eating solo, as a couple, or in a big group (do book in advance for big groups though - it is a popular spot). They also do regular seasonal menus on top of their usual selection - I recently tried their Christmassy "Brussel Sprout Bhajis" and they were tremendous. If you want a pointer on menu selections the staff are always happy to help, and I would suggest always getting a Bundo Chat, the Okra fries are fantastic, and nothing I have ever tried has disappointed. If you've not been then you MUST give this place a go

The setup isn’t the most inviting; bench seating you share with strangers is cramped and not all that comfortable. Add to that the Wetherspoons-style ordering system where you have to queue at the bar—hardly a special dining experience. The food didn’t save it either. The gobi manchurian was particularly disappointing, with mushy cauliflower that lost all texture, smothered in a thick, gloopy sauce that lacked flavor. Beer’s pricey too, which added to the underwhelming vibe. Some potential here, but it left me wanting more.

Enjoyed here a lot got the combo for 2 to try a few different things and enjoyed every dish. The portions weren’t huge but I left full. Added on the bread and also tried the ice cream at the end. Would have given 5 starts but we had plenty of time left on our allotted time and the staff were trying to rush us out just cause we had finished eating. So beware once they’ve got your money you become a problem.

Can't stop thinking about the bundo chaat. Ordered the combo for 4. It came faster than the ordering drinks. A good range of food. Very different from the usual Indian food I'm used to but loved it. Will be back

Fantastic array of Indian street food that you won't often see at other Indian restaurants! Worth getting at least 2/3 different options which pair well with the delicious house chai

20 of us came for a wedding celebration meal, The staff were attentive, friendly and very helpful, especially when an older member of the family wanted a regular cup of tea. we had the full menu x3 as well as lots of extras. the food was delicious and very obviously freshly prepared. Great cocktails and great beer options. Really cannot recommend this place highly enough. Thank you for helping to make my daughter and son in laws' wedding such a memorable occassion

I just want to start by saying I’ve been here plenty of times and always loved the food ♥️ However last year I was diagnosed with coeliac disease meaning I can’t have any gluten at all 😫 (trust me I’m not happy about it either) 😂 The first time I went here after being diagnosed I was told they had gluten free bread and given it, it was only after eating the best gluten free bread I’d ever tasted I realised it wasn’t gluten free 😫 So I tried again an a few times I was fine. However after ordering gluten free items Saturday evening ive been super super poorly since. There is no possible way of getting “glutened” at home and I haven’t eaten anywhere else. So if you’re not an annoying dietary person go ahead but if you are pleaseeeeee don’t risk it. Love Natasha One glutened poorly person 😫😂

Takeaway meal really disappointing and not cheap. I ate in the restaurant a few weeks ago and the food was so much better. Real shame.

Are here early on a Friday night, pretty quiet to start with but soon got busy. Nicely decorated inside but it was a little chilly on a March evening. Prawn starter was disappointing and I wouldn't choose it again but the chicken chom chom main was very good and the naan was excellent. Plenty of options on the menu and a choice of a couple of draft beers. Service was good and staff friendly.
