Bukhara in South Ribble

We paid a quick return visit to Bukhara.It was an extended family meal. It was quiet when we arrived. The staff were friendly and courteous.We ordered a wide variety of dishes. Everyone of us liked the meal, the restaurant started to fill up as we started our meal.Good meal and good desserts.

Amazing the word comes to mind, The customer service was second to none and we were treated with respect and curtesy, from the waiters to the management. All our needs were catered for within the guidelines of COVID-19. The food was exceptional and mouthwateringly tasty. Bukhara has left a wonderful lasting memory on this special occasion. Thank-you so much Bukhara.

This leg of lamb as usual was perfectly juicy in the center, with a fantastic crust. Full of flavour and very tender throughout accompanied with a spectacular gravy sauce and Roasted potatoes that just melted in the mouth. Lime soda is unbeatable, tried it in a few other restaurants but Bukhara's is unique, mango salad and Greek salad as usual was top notch.Overall the food Was so impressive had to get the waiter to call the Head Chef out as all my friends wanted to personally compliment the excellent food and trust me, we visit places up and down the country so we know our food.Hats off to the Head Chef - KDNever fails to impress.OMG is it fabulous!

Went today. The eat out to help out offer was on. We got seated. Told half of menu not available. Not even poppadoms. We said really? Man goes yes we are too busy and waved his hand for us to look around. Didnt look any busier than usual. So basically its pointless going when the offers on as they only serve limited menu so they can rake in as much as possible. Bad customer service all the way. Almost felt like they were doing us a favour as if they were giving the reduction in price out of their pockets. The food wasnt very nice. So even at half price felt a waste of money. At the end asked for desserts menu. We were told only 2 options available. What??? This eat out help out to them means do half the menu if that and get as many people as you can in and out. They know they will get people in on the offer days so no need to put effort in. Pure greed. So i said to the waiter its ok we wont have dessert can you pack a karahi for my partner. And he said to me you could have told me before whilst you were eating as we need table. Unbelievable. Then he asked if we could pay and he would bring to car. On way out i went to tell him which car and he said come back in 10 minsJust rude. Felt like complaining. But i dont think they would have took it on board. Whole place stunk of unprofessionalism How this place gets any business with zero manners is beyond me. I certainly wont be going again

Slick service, delicious food, terrific value. Most staff had face coverings. A very busy evening, but food brought very quickly after ordering. Dishes were delicious and excellent value for money. The food we couldn't eat was discretely put into take-away containers for us to take home (and made another delicious meal).

Great tasting food in a relaxed setting. An array of dishes from traditional to cosmpolitan. Friendly and helpful staff. Was a well enjoyed meal. Would definitely visit again and recommend to others.

It has been several years since we have been to Bukhara.We ate here at an event. The service was friendly and efficient.The mixed grill starter was very good. I really liked the lamb chops and tikka.We tried their biryani that comes covered in a pastry. I found that a bit too gimmicky.Bukhara is always on the pricier side however this was an enjoyable event.

My friends and I usually go kebabish but fancied a change. Booked a table for 5 for 8pm. Was shown to a table, no greeting, no pleasantries exchanged. Waiter appeared 10 mins later, asked if we were ready to order, requested drinks and popadom starters. Arrived quite fast. Appeared 10 mins later for order. Didn’t recommend anything, rushed us through, really quite rude and gave out a can’t be arsed attitude. Starters came quick, lamb chops were quite fatty and didn’t taste nice at all. Curry’s came 20 mins later, small portions. Lamb curry was really fatty and smelled of old fatty lamb, couldn’t eat it, the smell was knocking me sick. Complained to waiter at the end of the meal when he asked if we wanted it bagging up, point blank refused and told him the lamb was awful. No apology, no offer of replacement no offer of removing it off the bill despite not much of it eaten. Was cleaning the table after us before we had even left the table. Awful staff, over priced bland manky meat. Will never visit this place again. £96 down the drain and massive stomach ache

we book and eating food fantastic no complaints worth of money we go regularly and always we happy with service and food also all staff very help full food is 100% halal and clean ,no wine , love to be visited again and agin

My hosts ordered the sizzling Tandoori mixed grill to start which arrived with delicious lamb chops, chicken tikka and meat kebabs on onions and peppers. A side dish was fresh mango salad which was so good the lady at our table asked for a portion to take home to her mother! Main dishes of Akbari chicken masala featured a luscious creamy sauce, the Desi Lamb was so tender it just fell off the bone and the Karahi King Prawn provide the seafood interest. All this with garlic and plain naan straight from the oven with roti too. What a wonderful Lahore feast

My first visit to this restaurant so I did not know what to expect. The traditional food is amazing! I had the Nehari and it was fabulous, cooked in the traditional way and a beautiful mix of flavours. No alcohol is served here but the lime cordial is worth a visit all by itself!

Never Again! We were served pre-cooked curries, even after showing the manager the problem, he brushed us off with excuses, it became an embarrassment so we chose to just accept it. I would strongly suggest checking that your meal is fresh....

Another good meal at this well established restaurant which I have been frequenting for over twenty years. The standard is always very high and have arranged AA LAW’s 15th Year Celebration Meal, this Wednesday, which I hope is a roaring success.

Having visited this exceptionally good restaurant for a number of years the quality of vegetarian food never fails to live up to my expectations.

Have now started to make a regular early evening monthly visit to Bukhara. The staff are always welcoming and the service is excellent without being overbearing. The menu is extensive and whichever dish I have chosen, the subtleties in the flavours and the combination of the spices excellently complement the main ingredient. My current favourite is the Chicken Madras which, I know, is usually pretty standard, but not in Bukhara. In Bukhara, it is a culinary delight !! To top it all, they serve Mango Lassi by the Jug (very few other establishments even offer Lassi by the glass, let alone the jug)

Ugly, dated restaurant. Service was dire. And abysmal food. Avoid. Not sure why so many people like this place it's awful.

This has been my favourite place to eat over the past few years and have eaten here several times.

I decided to call here not having visited for several years. There is ample parking on the restaurant car park. Nicely located in a rural area just outside Preston. The restaurant is well furnished in a modernistic style. The menu is not particularly extensive though that is no bad thing as each dish seems to have its own distinctive style. I ordered sheek kebab starters which were first class and quite spicy indeed. For main I went for the chicken karahi which again was spicy and of good portion size. The plain naan to accompany the main was light and fluffy and delicious too. No alcohol is allowed on the premises but there is a decent selection of soft drinks, bottled and tap water. The service was excellent throughout my stay although it was relatively quiet being late afternoon at the time of my visit. Payment by card at the end of the meal was fast and efficient.I really couldn't fault the meal or the restaurant in anyway whatsoever; thoroughly recommended

The place was very busy when we went so maybe that is why service wasn't great; brusque is how I would describe it. There was nothing wrong with the food but I have had better elsewhere.

Bukhara Restaurant. My husband and I have been visiting this restaurant for the last 6 years both dining in and having take aways. We have never been disappointed by their dishes giving good presentation, flavours and quality. Would certainly recommend.

My husband and I buy take away food on a very regular basis. The Grilled Lambs chops for starter and Nehari Lamb for mains are our favourites. We are working our way through the menu and really enjoy the Till Mill Jhinga prawns. Absolutely delicious. Service is always friendly and professional and highly recommend them.

I would not recommend this place at all. We booked a table for 8:30pm when we went in we had to wait around ten minutes to be seated. The staff did not greet us in and looked awfully moody. This is not good impression at all as it was our first visit there aswell. The service was so slow and staff was not engaging one bit. If you look the pictures we have posted it took one hour and ten minutes for our starters to come this is the worst and latest we have ever waited. On top of that other people got served before us when we came first and their food came quicker. Our starters took over an hour and they were such small portions and shouldn’t have taken this long. The main course took 30 mins after that to arrive. The staff are not trained well and where I was sat I could see a manager I think he was shouting and swearing at his kitchen staff due to a mistake I think the chef has made. Working in a customer based environment myself this is not what you want to see. Our bills came to £50. Which I think was a waste of £50. I would not recommended this place at all. Awful service never again. When we payed the bill we didn’t even get a Thankyou. Shocking restaurant service.

It’s an Asian restaurant in a nice location. The parking is ample and free. The food is good with a resealable price. The service is quick. Th plenty of choices available for food like halal , Vegetarian and kids meal.

I think this is the best Indian meal I have ever tasted. The food was extremely tasty, great flavours and good portion sizes. The mango salad was especially delicious. The service was a bit haphazard but it wouldn't put me off going again because the food was devine.

This was on OK experience, nothing great. Food was OK, popadoms a good size. We ordered three dishes and couple of starters. All them were OK, nothing outstanding. Service was friendly but not outstanding. Ambience is not great.

Visited bukhara with friends. Food was okay. The starter was something different. Chicken stuffed with mince. This was okay' however could've done with a bit more flavour. The chicken steak with chips' although didn't look appealing was quite tasty and flavoursome. The Chilman biryani was also nice.

Enjoyed our visit and the food was really good and not too expensive. Good selection but felt the staff didn't give enough time before rushing you to order. Worth noting that they do not allow alcohol on the premises, not a problem for us but better to know.

Came to Bukhara with a friend who had visited many times before.

We come here regularly because it’s the only place where I know we’ll get the consistency of a good, traditional Indian meal. Each time I’ve visited, they’ve delivered. Had a Nehari with a mango salad and mixed grilled starter. Perfectly flavoured and it hit the spot!

Friendly staff from the moment we went in till the time we left. Food was exceptional. Children were happy and entertained with books we purchased from the eye catching book stand in the restaurant!

I came to eat with a group of friends and must say the service seemed rushed, when j ordered drinks I was told that mocktails were not available even though they are on the menu, the mains were delicious the food is tasty but again when I came to order desserts they had sold out of what I wanted. Overall this place with a few tweaks coukd be the GO TO place in west Lancashire for halal food but due to the service issues and the lack of items in stock it leave alot to be desired.

Family meal at Bukhara was a very enjoyable evening and the food was absolute delicious. The food was well presented and the service was perfect. Well done to all the staff and the team.

I went with my family for my mother’s 80th birthday party. I cannot fault the food but the waiters eagerness to clear the tables whilst we were still eating was off putting, management take note!

Fantastic meal once more. Consistently fantastic food. I know some people are put off by no alcohol on site but don't let that sway your decision. Starters, mains, rice and bread no matter what you pick (I try to have something different every visit) will be great. Staff are polite and attentive and reasonably priced for the quality received.

Went here last night with my family, heard great things. Ordered a few mixed grills some karahis and drinks. The mixed grill was just pieces of tandoori chicken with loads of seekh kebabs and only 2 lamb chops, whereas on the menu there was supposed to be more variety. The lamb and fish karahi had far too much masala and hadn’t been cooked carefully, didn’t enjoy it. Cost, £90. Didn’t stay for dessert. Never going back.

Have frequented Bukhara for at least 10 years, regularly making a 30+ mile round trip to dine here. Food & service has always been worth it. However, can’t help but notice a slow decline of sorts. Difficult to put finger on it but think more to do with general management than anything else. Food still very good but on an odd occasion when something hasn’t been quite right there has been a cavalier response eg “meat not cooked through, slightly pink” Response? “That’s what the dish is like. It’s served pink”. Ermm, Ive eaten this dish here for 12 yrs, it being one of my favourites. It’s never been served pink”. Response? “No, it’s always served pink” Just a look. No offer to replace. No offer to cook a little longer. So, I had to resort to asking for a different dish to replace it! Embarrassing. Very unprofessional. An occasional incorrect order ie chicken dish brought out when lamb was ordered. Response? “No, you ordered chicken”. Me? I’ve never eaten chicken in my life. I ordered lamb. “No, you ordered chicken!” These are just 2 small examples amidst several others, resulting in disappointment at what was once our favourite restaurant. Another example. Ate there last week. Six of us for birthday meal. Restaurant busy as ever. Had eaten three courses in approx one and a half hours but even before asking us if we’d like deserts or coffee, head waiter made a sign in the air indicating were we ready for our bill! Talk about feeling rushed! Feeling uncomfortable, we declined and left. This is unacceptable. In all our years of visiting, we have never ever felt rushed, however busy the restaurant. Management, in our opinion, was always a strong feature of Bukhara. Not so now. Very disappointed. Ps: on a slight aside, have read in previous reviews complaints about exterior drains smelling grotesquely. We have never personally experienced this...until last week. Immediately outside restaurant smelt like intense raw sewage. It was truly nauseating. Please Bukhara, pay attention

This has been the best Indian meal we have had on our 4 month trip thru Europe. Truly excellent. Had onion bahji, Lahore lamb and a chicken Madras. Words can't explain the taste sensation. Go visit.

This is our family’s go to place. We love this and visit for All our special occasions as a family.

A great experience and the closest to real Indian food I have found outside of the big cities. Lovely friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Many of the dishes on the menu were unlike anything you would find in a standard British-Indian restaurant. I love the fact that they insist on no alcohol and haven’t bowed to commercial pressure to do so. Yes, the service was a bit fast and plates were whipped away a bit sharpish but we just ate more slowly to make the evening last. We will be back!

Decided to visit with the family after about a year. The staff were friendly but badly let down by the food. King prawns heavily marinated to disguise the freshness of the prawns, chicken was tasteless and dry, kebabs were not much better.

Food is always fab here, although we were sat next to a draughty door this time which was a bit annoying, but I had only booked a table for 4 that afternoon so we were lucky to get in as they were busy. Food is always fresh which I love ❤️, we had a jug of lime and soda which was freshly squeezed lime and cumin, it was soooo good

Chicken tikka had no taste, totally bland. Naan breads were undercooked so asked for more and those were same. Lamb Karahi was cooked in a ready made in a packet paste. Oh a very slow service. Considering what they charge I expected better, I’ve had takeaway food taste better. Will not be going back again

Bukhara had been on our wish list for over 2 years but due to the distance from our native Bradford we kept putting it off, after the end of Ramadan we decided to treat ourselves and visit the famed restaurant and tick Bukhara off our wish list.

Absolutely great food and presentation of the food. From the roast leg to the road chicken and chilman biryani and sweet lassi. The food is prepared by the best Pakistani chefs in the country.

We've passed by the Bukhara on many occasions but never gone in, so we were delighted when a Pakistani friend of ours invited us there for dinner. Well, what an experience! The building is modern, with a visible kitchen; there's masses of car parking space. The menu is large but packed with authentic Pakistani specialities such as the wonderful chilman biryani - we were very hard-pushed to chose. In the end what we had was absolutely wonderful - one of the best meals of the type that I've ever had. The service was friendly and polite, and the prices were really very good value - many of the main courses were under £10. The four of us staggered out at the end of the evening completely full of the most wonderful food, with the remnants packed away in doggie bags for us. Absolutely super!!

We were looking forward to visiting the Bukhara as we had been given great recommendations. always told it's busy so must book. Went on a Thursday evening but virtually empty when we got there - so quickly to the table.

It's poor customer service here at the best of times but usually the food makes up for it, but tonight it was shockingly rude and below standard food! We were rushed despite asking for a few minutes between courses. It's not like the place was busy but it seemed staff wanted to rush off. Manager was dismissive and didn't even acknowledge our complaint when the food was not to usual standard and the dressing on the mango salad was missing. Plates and drinks were cleared when we hadn't finished, we felt awkward to complain repeatedly so we left in huge disappointment onto another place to finish our evening. Appears like the owners are away bcos standards are slipping.

Nothing tastes as it should. Stingy on spice. Staff said they’d make it spicier all they did was put it in a microwave.

My wife and I visited Bukhara on a spare of the moment. We were seated immediately even without a reservation which I was really surprised with as it seemed quite busy.

Visited with a family friend of the owners. The food was flowing and it was amazing - much better than your average curry house. The service was attentive and the servers were very knowledgable about their food.

Visited this restaurant with family( 14 people,including children), service was excellent and food arrived promptly. However, the standard of curries has lowered, they all tatse the same, must be using the same base sauce. The last time i was there was for my sisters wedding, 2 years ago and quality of food was very high.

Christmas get together for my family is difficult as we're spread far and wide. Bukhara is almost central for us so we booked a table and arranged to meet there just before Christmas. We were seated upstairs which was cold and, to start with, service was fine but we were ignored more and more as other families arrived. Our food was very tasty and the lassis were incredible. Plates were removed as soon as the last mouthful of food was taken and the slower eaters felt rushed as waiters hovered over them. We were hurried out as the tables were needed for the next booking (we were only there for two hours maximum) and given the £25/head bill I found the staff's attitude disappointing.

Quiet Tuesday in early January yet the restaurant was bustling when we left. An Asian friend from Bolton was dining so Bukhara obviously has appeal beyond local boundaries. Enjoyed excellent mixed grill of tandoori lamb chops, chicken and minced meats with a wide range of sauces. Main course was a curried but rich and creamy lamb that just melted in the mouth. Accompanied by superb tarka dahl and naan bread freshly baked and served. This was simple but superb and I will definitely return.

Been past loads of times , always full car park ,and when friends sent invite , could'nt wait , We were a party of 9 and were showed to our table which was very nicely set and plenty of room , We were advised to eat our starters first , then order main meals , The starters were massive the salad's were presented perfectly , It also gave us time for a much needed rest between food , Then the Main arrived , again perfectly served , massive portions and perfect taste , this is what i call real asian cooking , The staff were very well presented and polite and always checking that everything was in order , From outside it looks expensive but i thought it was not expensive at all { and i am from Yorkshire } ,we will be going back soon , Anyone thinking of going i would ring and book , and check opening times ,

We attended during Ramadan so the resaturant was very busy with other hungry diners, unfortunately the food tasted like it had been reheated and wasn't very fresh. We mentioned this and received some money off the bill, no complaints. Service was great.

Quite simply, this is the best curry in the north west, from start to finish. Great, friendly service. Tip: over order and they will pack up anything you don't eat into takeaway bags. Your'll want to eat it again tomorrow!

This non-alcoholic establishment is large and very popular. Spacious, comfortable, friendly service if a bit off-hand. Vegetable Samosa is a chef's recommendation, but I found the pastry too crisp for my taste, but the chicken main course was probably the best Indian / Asian meal I have ever had. I've put Indian / Asian because I wasn't sure if the menu was more Pakistani. I ordered medium, it was available as medium or hot, but wouldn't have coped with anything hotter.

The food was delicious and there was plenty for everyone. I had to go meet the Master Chef & his Team in Person to thank Them. Very professional down to earth Gentlemen Mr Salim , Abu Bakr and Mr Kutub .The Outstanding Service given by Mr Anis and Mr Naeem who are very friendly & helped us with the menu choices. Visited last night with a few friends - been before but noticed the refurbishment that has taken place recently and the place looks really good.Skipped starters and ordered 3 main meals to share and safe to say we cleaned up!Great service last night from the team who and fantastic food.Chilman biryani every time please - If you haven't tried this simple twist on a classic before then go for it !

It is literally in the middle of know where yet worth a trip. Halal restaurant so no alcohol for you drinkers but the service and food are worth the visit. The menu is varied but not as extensive as 'local' curry houses but the karahi chicken and lamb with spinach were far better than most.

I live close to London and regularly visit Brick Lane, a place famous for it's Indian restaurants. I was introduced to Bukhara by my brother who lives in Lancashire and the food here is the best Indian I've ever eaten. There's a good choice of all foods and vegetarians are well catered for. The quality of the food is exceptional and is not too expensive. Can't wait to come again.

Like my title OOO LAA LAA best thing since sliced bread. The word for authenticity is at Bukhara. If you like spices then this is the place to eat

As a frequent diner I would struggle to provide a negative review of this excellent Indian restaurant. The staff are attentive but without being overwhelming, there to make sure you have all you require. Food is simply superb and offer great value for money. That's it, great food and excellent staff.

Saturday night visit, table for two. Ordered the mixed grill which is always a treat in most places but was to use the kindest term horrible here. Lamb Chops were fatty and under cooked, seekh kebabs clearly warmed from frozen possibly even processed and chicken kebabs looked under-cooked and tasted bland. The best thing about the starters were the chips! Seriously underwhelmed to the extent that we didn't bother with main course and left with a bill of almost £30.00 for two drinks, mixed grill and chips and three poppadoms. Very pricey considering the substandard food, never again.

Get out your car and you are greeted by the stench from the sewage treatment plant nearby. Poor ambience, crappy furniture.My wife felt really odd since she was the only female there not wearing a burka.Would have tolerated all that if thee food was good. And it was terrible!!

Great food, service very good.We where a table of 16 on a Tuesday night all big curry eaters at weekend.The starter that we had ranged from Tandoori Mixed Grill, Meat Samosas, Mango Salad, Chicken Pakora and Chicken Tikka. The main courses ranged from Lamb Karahi, King Prawn Madras, Shani Chicken Korma, Akbari Chicken Masala, Lahore Chicken, and some had the house speciality of Chilman Biryani. Great meal really enjoyed great company, thank you Golita's Plumbers Merchants for the invitation.

I visited Bukhara for the first time tonight. It was very clean, food quality was high and the staff were very friendly. You can order mild, medium and strong dishes. There is a wide choice of food you can order. I ordered the chicken Biryani and due to the generous portion size, I've brought some home to enjoy! Also, it caters for vegetarians and can be hired for events. As an added bonus, there is free parking outside of the premise. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We ate here for the first time on a Monday night. Not sure what to expect we thought we might be the only people there - how wrong were we! It was packed- couples, groups, large party - people waiting so first recommendation is book a table. Staff very friendly, service good and food was delicious. We decided to have different dishes to our "normal " choices and were glad we did. The lamb with spinach main was excellent, tender meat nicely spiced. The restaurant is on the A59 on the road between Preston and Blackburn. Don't be tempted to miss it because its away from a town- you will be disappointed!

We visited with another family over the Christmas break. The welcome was warm and the food and service were great as usual. This isn't the place to come if you don't like your spice. Fortunately we do! Our boys enjoyed the chicken korma Childs meal and the waiter made a real fuss of them. We will definitely be back soon.

I'm a self-styled curry guru having eaten in many places over the past 30 years.This one has to be up there in my top 5.From start to finish it was a truly memorable experience.Thanks guys and keep up the good work!

Quite simply the very best Indian food we have ever tasted,the service is excellent,this could quite possibly be the best restaurant experience of my entire life and believe me I have been visiting restaurants for many years,highly recommended

First time we been to this place we came from Leicester and there was 11 of us, there service was spot on from Naeem uncle and imran bhai. So friendly and polite.. the food was amazing would definitely come back.. thank u, recommend the mango salad, mix grill and butter chicken..
