Buckley's Small Plates in Inverclyde

Hmmm...loved my 1st visit. A bit on the fence for 2nd visit. We visited as a group of 6 in early August (a Saturday lunch) and were quite taken with the menu, ambience and freshness of food. Went back again on Thursday 29th as a 2 and missed that je ne sais quoi. Chilli beef nachos were lovely and hot. Salmon with giant couscous a hit. But the Greek Fries were cool. And missed the stainless bowl. Maybe a different chef?

Buckleys was recommended to us by friends, and we weren't disappointed. Welcoming staff, good atmosphere with very tasty, freshly prepared cuisine, served piping hot. We will definitely return very soon.

Have been in several times but keep forgetting to write reviews. We love this place, service, food quality, cocktails. It has a great vibe also. Love the caramel chicken and the truffle fries but everything we have had is great.

We've dined at Buckley's on a number of occasions and have always loved it. Last night, we called in on the off chance, on the way home and Ashleigh & the team managed to accommodate us, despite it being a busy, sunny Friday evening. The food was promptly delivered, beautifully presented, cooked to perfection and served with a smile. The atmosphere is always friendly and great value for money.

Ordered 3 small plates each, ‘sizzling garlic prawns’ came within 2 minutes of placing order, 5 small, cold prawns in a sharp red sauce, no sizzle and no garlic. Caramel chicken was greasy and tasted of artificial caramel. Other dishes were ok but way over priced and bland. 6 small plates, a glass of wine and a beer and 2 small desserts, over £80. During meal waitress asked if everything was ok, we informed her prawns were cold, to be told that chef said they were fine when they left the kitchen. It definitely takes more than 2 minutes to cook sizzling prawns. No apology or one dish taken off price. Suggested this to waitress, who shrugged her shoulders . Would not recommend this rest at all.

Second visit here & thoroughly enjoyed our night again. Started with some drinks at the window seats... margarita hit the spot. Then moved to our pre booked table for food. Ordered 2 plates at a time & all excellent quality & taste 👌🏼 staff helpful & friendly. Great atmosphere, chic quirky decor. Looking forward to our next date night ♥️

We had eaten at the restaurant previously and found the food excellent. We had friends arrive unexpectedly, upon our previous experience, suggested Small Plates for a takeaway. A quick 'phone call - only to be told 'too busy - not doing takeaway tonight'. It would appear a spontaneous order for carryout can be very disappointing awing to the above response.

Decided to try somewhere local rather than go to Glasgow. Buckley’s is a tapas-style gem in Gourock, The food was superb, offering a delightful array of flavors, and the extensive menu provided a wide selection. We are already looking forward to returning with friends next time.

Our Christmas Lunch What can I say that I have not said in the l last 4 times I have been here, this time with work colleagues , outstanding service from the girls . And the 15 plates we had were outstanding in quality and portions size for 5 and that includes 3 x big guys 👍so thank you small plates we will be back 10/10👍

Small plates - was expecting a little bit more. Maybe it was just our luck but we ordered 5 different items and most were just drowned in sweet chilli sauce.

Birthday lunch and really enjoyed our meal and drinks. Good variety of menu based on a tapas style with a Scottish twist, we will be back.

I came to Gourock with my life-long friend, I was visiting from Nottingham- and she noticed Buckley's last time she visited the area. She thought it was somewhere that would appeal to me. She wasn't wrong! A beautiful place with a wide range of small plates/tapas. I am vegetarian and still struggle to find decent food on my frequent visits back home in Scotland. The food was varied- plenty of choice for me- light, healthy and delicious. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. I know this is a place I will return to regularly. My fish-loving friend adored it too! Highly recommended.

What a lovely surprise finding this little gem! Passing through Gourock tonight on the way home to Dunoon my husband and I and two friends stopped looking for a small bite of food. We noticed this place and it mentioned small bites. It was very busy and we were asked if we had booked, which we hadn't. We explained we really only want a quick bite and away and one table which was reserved became available for us. The lady who helped us get a table was friendly and went out her way to fit us in. There was a great choice of smaller bites on the menu. I'm vegetarian and had a good choice too. I only wish we had booked as the food was really tasty and would have loved to have stayed longer. We will definitely book soon. Happy to travel the ferry across for some well cooked different food from a happy lovely group of busy staff. You've got this place just right, please open one in Dunoon. See you soon.

Amazing food, friendly efficient staff. What a lovely atmosphere. We will definitely be back next time we visit this area.

Great food and service. Really diverse small plates menu and everything was excellent. Suggest about 2 small plates per person and eat family style.

Had a spot looking out the window which was great as the street is busy and we were able to watch the rain fall. Food was amazing, potions were ample and we got 3 plates each which was too much. Service was good and attentive.

Excellent quality food, fast and friendly service and a good lunchtime experience in this small restaurant. Definitely one to visit again in the future.

This was my first visit here , and I absolutely loved it. Its a very nice little restaurant and the service was excellent , all the staff were so attentive and informative. The menu is superb and very varied , there is so much to choose from. We chose the sliders and the mini Yorkshire puddings with beef brisket and the fries with Rosemary & Feta. The ice cold Pint of Madri I had went down very well on such a warm day. It's a little on the pricey side but it is worth it , you are paying for fantastic service and glorious food. I will definitely be back , I want to work my way through that menu.

Up there as one if the very best restaurants in Inverclyde IMO. Fantastic Small plates menu. The food is delicious. I would say 4 to 5 dishes between two is just right. The portions are mid-size (somewhere between tapas and a main course). Everything on the menu is tempting, so it’s difficult to choose! They also have a great wine and drinks selection (don’t miss the cocktails). Really nice decor, good music, lovely atmosphere and great service. It’s just a shame that they are only open Wed-Sat as it would be a perfect Sunday Brunch place (I imagine they could do a great Bloody Mary!).

Serendipity! We visited this restaurant because it was open during lunchtime. What a gem of a restaurant for tapas. We had crispy chicken, Cajun fries, three sliders and cauliflower too. We will return the next time we are in Gourock!

Visited on Saturday and received a warm welcome the service was first class and the food was delicious. I would recommend the salt and pepper squid the caramel chicken and the tandoori nan the wine was lovely as well. Have booked to return next month...

Lovely food just some service teething issues but will be back Booked a table for 4 on a Saturday night. Staff were welcoming and we ordered a bottle of wine, some olives then around 2/3 small plates each. Were surprised when my dads black pudding...
