Absolutely banging spot! Excellent menu choice, great service and amazing food. Coffee was super and fry-up was delicious. Definitely worth a visit

First time visiting, I although grew up in the village, wish this place was there then. Their attention to detail is superb, a welcome glass of water before ordering. Delicious coconut & lime cake accompanied by a very well made hot chocolate and Machiatto. From what we could see from dine in and take away menus the food looked appetising and well made. Definitely worth a detour for a visit. Will be back.

Stopped here after the lambing experience at Kilmacolm Farm Tours which I would highly recommend. Delicious homemade soup followed by moist carrot cake and beautifully soft fresh homemade scone. Excellent service and relaxing atmosphere. Hope to return for more.

Lovely place to come for food and the atmosphere was nice, friendly welcome as well. Reason for just 4 stars was that the coffee was too hot therefore it was a bit burnt but hopefully this was just a one off as coffee I've had in the past has been lovely

We stumbled across Cairn quite by chance when we were in the area for a family wedding. We had dropped the dogs at a kennels just outside Kilmacolm and then headed into the town as we needed a bite to eat before the wedding. We got a very warm welcome and the squashed 4 of us onto a small table as they were busy, but then when a bigger table became free, they immediately spotted that we could move tables and were very helpful. Amazing coffee, expertly made as well and all the food was also super tasty and obviously made by someone who cares about what goes out of their kitchen. Overall highly recommended place to eat if you’re ever in Kilmacolm!

Nice place, usually avoid because it's busy. Good pot of tea and staff willing to top up it up with hot water. Enjoyed the sourdough toast and jam. However service could be much better. It did used to be very good but standards seemed to have dropped especially with one person in particular. It costs nothing to smile and be friendly to a customer. A basic requirement surely if you work in hospitality.

Almost reluctant to give a great review in case more people go! This place is so good. Its fairly small, so you may not always get a seat right away at busy times - but it's worth the wait. Whats so special? Well, when there are so many places serving beige food and expecting you to be grateful for it, this place has excellent service with a smile and real quality ingredients cooked to perfection. Well done Cairn, if I had 10 stars, I'd give them all.

Food is always great here. So is the service. The best part is that they are inexpensive so I can treat myself every week.

Have eaten at Cairn on many occasions, the last one being a birthday celebration. We all had different starters and mains– everyone gave their selection a definite thumbs up. This was before Sars-Covid-2 arrived unwanted. I understand sit down meals are being replaced by a takeaway menu that we've also sampled. Delicious and nothing processed about it. My wife gets a double shot, oaty latté at week-ends now the service has returned after lockdown. Looking forward to fresh fish and chips returning! *hint*

Fantastic cafe that offers a wide range of clearly marked vegan and gluten free food and drink options, including breakfasts, curries, sandwiches and drinks. Had a delicious vegan and gluten free mushrooms on toast, truly divine and big portions. Very friendly staff and happy vibe. Food was very tasty and high quality. Highly recommend.

My friends and I made a stop off at Cairn today when on our cycling trip. We had lovely rolls and bacon and sausage.. Fantastic coffee and cake.First class service also . Excellent prices..Great place.

2nd visit here for breakfast. Salmon and bagel was good and tried the special arbroath smokies with scrambled egg and spinach on sour dough toast. Was excellent and a good sized portion. Seems to be a regular spot for cyclists to drop into as well as locals. Will definitely be going back.

Had big breakfast and a coffee. Coffee served very quickly, but 10-15 minutes before the meal arrived. The food was served in an enamel pie dish, quirky, but I prefer a plate. Got the impression that parts of the meal had been pre-seasoned, rather heavy handedly, with black pepper. The 2 pieces of sour dough bread were tiny. Rest of the breakfast items were just average. Coffee ok but pricey for a very small cup. Overall, I expected better for the price. Table service was fine.

Been twice now. Coffee is fantastic and so are the cakes. Service is good and good value too. Will try some other food sometime but its always busy.

We sometimes use Cairn for a takeaway snack. We always find the food to be well cooked and of a high quality, and the coffee is lovely. Every member of staff has been extremely pleasant and courteous. The place has a serene feel to it, and seems popular with local residents.

Enjoyed pleasant service and expertly prepared breakfast using well sourced produce (particularly enjoyed the poached eggs, bread, mushrooms, hot smoked salmon, avocado and potato scone). The pricing for extras are both inviting and fair so you can tailor their menu offerings easily to make your ‘perfect’ plate all done swiftly and without fuss. The coffee & barista skills are also of note here. Didn’t have room for the pastries but they looked to be prepared to the same high standards as everything else.

What with the incredibly noisy coffee machine in a very small space, meaning everyone was shouting at each other, meaning people not shouting could not hear a word…ultimately we had to go outside and sit on the thin wooden benches to have a conversation where the cycles pick up to go drinks. Coffee was good but Millionaire shortbread rather doughy with too thick base..

Prompt service, delicious food and a reasonable bill. Definitely recommended.

Great wee place and as cute as an actual cairn terrier.( The toilets are reminiscent of a fancy 'Wally Close' in Glasgow - you should visit them whether you need or not!). The staff are fun and the food a big step up from mainstream. Over the course, I've sampled most of the menu...and that includes, of course, my first love - big chunks of cake. And they have a really nice range of really nice cakes here. Go try it.

It’s not a big space but they have laid out tables sympathetically, especially for these times. Coffee, donut and brownie all delicious. The coffee machine is incredibly noisy and theses also canned music, so if it’s a peaceful chat you want or your hearing isn’t...

Stayed for a week in Scotland for a holiday as we're from England, we didn't know the area but took a chance on this place for brunch and WOW.... The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous. All lovely quality items and they serve the best coffee 🤤 price was more than reasonable for what they serve. The service and staff was 10/10 too. Very clean and modern inside, they also cater for babies / toddlers too. We loved it so much we decided to visit again the day we was leaving to go back home, we also ordered some lemon and pistachio cake, a sausage roll and 2 donuts to take for the road trip back to England.. all home made and again, absolutely gorgeous! If we ever come back to visit the same area of Scotland we will be sure to come back for another lovely brunch! Thankyou Cairn! 🤗

Visited here on a lovely hot day. We got a seat inside the service in the cafe was first class, as soon as we sat down. Staff brought us two glasses of water to cool down and kept being topped up. Ordered a Breakfast roll...

Cairn have really gone out of their way to offer an excellent restaurant standard takeaway option. The food is always fresh and delicious, coffee and cakes are superb and the staff are fantastic. Easy to phone ahead and collect and their Instagram gives you all...

Stopped here for a coffee after cycling from Paisley with cycling partner. Nearly tempted by the delicious looking cakes but waistline said no 😏 we settled for two really nice lattes - really smooth with no bitterness. Looking forward to more visit in the future.
