We visit here quite often for lunch. Lately the music is very loud and intrusive and so it is hard to have a conversation. We have asked for it to be lowered but usually it gets turned back up again. This happened to us again today. In addition some of the food was not up to standard today. The chips were hard and dry and the pasta was luke warm and dry with very little sauce.

My aunt and uncle use this restaurant and I’m near my partner decided to take them for lunch and this is the restaurant they chose. We travelled from Raynes Park near Wimbledon to use this restaurant and boy it. What a surprise. From the moment you walk through the door someone is smiling at you and saying hello then we told them we had a table booked they took us to our table of us some water and the menus and ask if we knew what drinks we wanted no rush no pressure fantastic service from all the staff I had a joke with the lady who’s was also looking after us and said I have travelled all the way from near Wimbledon to try this restaurant now I hope it’s good and she made a comment and a smile which told me it would be thank you for a lovely day on Saturday. It’s a shame we couldn’t stay longer, but we had to be somewhere else as well, but we will definitely be back and we will definitely recommend in this place to our friends, once again, thank you five star all the way we will be back

Good quality fresh food but it was all rather bland. Staff are very nice but the food is not as good as the old B&V. The menu promises some good stuff but needs a whole lot more taste.

Was expecting so much and but it didn't live up to expectations. Firstly, and not fault of the restaurant itself, you must walk through a gang of delivery drivers from a take-away a few doors away. The restaurant itself looks great and it looks like the owners have spent a lot of money on the décor. The food on the menu was not as shown on their website, which left a few of our party disappointed as they already had in mind what they were going to order. The choice on their single sheet of A4 paper is called their A La Carte and it is ok; no other choice is available. The restaurant was not busy at all, but could we find anyone to take our orders, not until we called someone over. We had to reject two of the drinks order because you couldn’t taste any alcohol in the drink. The food was just OK, nothing to write home about. All in all, not great.

We came to Buckle and Vaughan last night to use their function room for my mums surprise 60th birthday dinner. The team were amazing, no question or request was too difficult and they pulled out all the stops to ensure the evening went smoothly. The food was all delicious and they made sure each tables food was served together which really made a difference for a big party. Thank you all and I really recommend using Buckle and Vaughan’s function room for anyone looking for a sit down dinner celebration!

We visited here with friends on Sunday as a last minute decision for lunch. Thankfully they could accommodate us though very busy. Our server Anna was fantastic, big smile and nothing was too much trouble. Food (we all had the roast option) and wine were excellent. Would definitely recommend

Cannot say how impressed I was with service and quality of food. There was a slight issue and as soon as I bought it to Liam’s attention it was handled in the best way possible ! They did not have the wine that we chose but another wine was offered at the same price. We chose not to have a dessert and then a complimentary dessert appeared! I used to go to this restaurant a lot when it first opened 9 years ago but standards dropped but I’ve now been there twice this year and would highly recommend!

Surprised at rather restricted new Sunday lunch menu

Four of us had the set lunch menu. Good value and good choice. Not just the usual set menu staples. We had a table by the window as requested. Excellent service. Not too busy. Great choice for a late lunch.

Buckle & Vaughan is a local gem. Great atmosphere, really good food that is reasonably priced given the quality and friendly enthusiastic young waiting team. We've been many times and will keep going back. Lunchtime's it's even better value

Always love coming here all round excellent service

We went for a 40th Ruby wedding anniversary which we advised before we visited. It couldn’t have been better they sorted the best table in the restaurant welcomed my friends who were celebrating which made them feel special. Service was great, food was great and ambience was really good. Couldn’t have asked for better.

On a quiet Tuesday, the service and food was good as always, and we will return, but as an couple we would prefer the volume of the music aligned to number of diners.

Service was a bit inconsistent and the pork was tough.

Good atmosphere and friendly service but the food was not up to the standard of previous visits. Although well presented, the vegetarian pairing of rice and veg was a little bland and didn’t really work. The chicken skewer option was also disappointing. Overall we had a lovely evening but the food didn’t meet our expectations which was a shame as this isn’t your ‘everyday’ restaurant.

We dined on Friday for our anniversary, celebrating with a friend. The cocktails were fab, and the bar tender very attentive as we sat at the bar despite him having a full restaurant to service and busy drinks orders! Once seated, the staff were super attentive and really helpful. The food was so delicious, we couldn’t decide what to go for so ordered a selection to share. Finished off with a delicious dessert. A really really lovely evening.

I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. We just ate here again with friends on Saturday night and as always the food was fabulous and the welcome from the staff impeccable.

This is my favourite restaurant in Winchmore Hill. Unfortunately my companion and I both chose the roast lamb which was not up to your usual standard. It was over cooked and a little tough. The rest of the meal was delicious.

Fantastic family Sunday roast in b&v. The food was superb, especially when you consider the price. The fish cake starter was fab. On to the main course, typically I find beef can be chewy, not here - really tender. I only wish bread was served to mop up the gravy The wine was fantastic. Loved the ambiance. The staff were really attentive. As a family we really enjoyed it and would definitely come again.

We use it quite regularly so it is good that they often change the menu offering new and esciting dishes so I never get bored with what to choose! Food and service always good and great value for money with decent sized portions!

Definitely recommend Sunday lunch Roast beef was excellent.

We told them in advance it was to celebrate meeting 55 years ago but no mention was made of this when we got there. We asked for a table by the window but this was not given. A bit disappointing

Wonderful atmosphere, exceptional service and fantastic food.

Food portions for the lunch menu were small. Online menu had meatballs but on the day they weren't available. Drinks very expensive. 10.50 for one cocktail so after 3 drinks we'd added another 31 pounds to the bill. Honeycomb ice cream disappointing. Service was lovely. Very nice staff and didn't have to wait long at all. Good that they bring water without us asking and keep refilling.

Pre Mothers Day As usual a lovely meal, excellent service and friendly atmosphere.

Service was really good and very friendly staff. The lunch time set menu is exceptional value. Every table was booked so noise level was quite high but as our group including a baby we didn’t mind at all because when she cried it didn’t bother anyone nearby.

After a gap of several months it was good to be back to find nothing had changed. Same splendid enjoyable experience.

Didn’t enjoy my food. Endamame starter with vegan cheese. Didnt taste nice. Seafood skewer tasted mushy. However my friends enjoyed their food. But we did all send dessert back.

Really enjoyed it! We weren’t going to have a starter but were tempted by the calamares ordered by the next table! Glad we did ‘cos they were delicious. The whole meal was delightful and the service excellent. We have been here on a Sunday Lunchtime when it’s been very busy and the service was impeccable. I love the fact that you can see the chefs in the kitchen! We will definitely be back.

Spent a very pleasant couple of hours with friends over lunch yesterday. The refurbished restaurant is lovely - the food was good - the service friendly and efficient- the noise level at one point was a bit loud but not enough to disturb us. When we arrived at 12:30 we were the only diners but by 1:15 not a table to be had! This is a really comfortable and friendly local restaurant with good service and good choices on the menu

Exceptional service. On entering, the barman welcomed us and was quick to help. The host came to take us to our table, offering options. We had time to review the menu without feeling rushed and the service really was impeccable. The food was delicious, both my partner and I were really happy. Servings were large and we couldn't finish it all so they packaged it for us to take home - a really lovely offer. It was my partners birthday and the team here were so lovely. They wrote a message on a pudding plate and gave a complimentary drink and honestly, it made such an impact that already we've told our friends in the area. We're keen to go back and try more of the menu. Also, delicious cocktails!

Our go to restaurant in Winchmore Hill, food is delicious. Always looked after well every time we go. If you have never been I highly recommend.

We got engaged that day and wanted to come to a nice local place. We told them we were celebrating and they were very sweet to us. We enjoyed our food, especially the main courses of monkfish and fish skewers. The creme brulees were tasty. The sparkling rose was lovely too.

We had a lovely 3 course meal from the festive set menu. Izzy and Anna were attentive to our needs and extremely friendly. We were sat in the raised section which was slightly quieter and we were able to have a conversation without shouting. Cocktails were great too. Really enjoyed our evening. Thank you

B&V has markedly gone downhill since I last visited pre-pandemic. The current management, staff and menu are well below the standard of their predecessor. 1. At least 3x different, I’ll-matched cutlery on our table. With dessert & dinner forks & spoons mixed up. 2. Linguine was cold & bland to the point of being tasteless. Also we had to ask for Parmesan / cheese. 3. Bakewell Tart was very doughy / floury and soggy at the base - indicating it was undercooked. The best dish was the duck liver pâté.

Lovely christmas meal and thanks to Flo who was very attentive.

Cannot fault anything always good quality food

It was a gorgeous meal. They just need to tighten up the service. Notice when drinks are low or finished. We asked for bread which never came. It’s a little bit haphazard. But no doubt about the cooking.

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch yesterday. Staff are extremely polite and helpful, and happy. Food was good, the champagne was flowing. And the atmosphere was cheery. We had a lovely, pre- Christmas lunch with family members. The service was friendly and attentive and the food delicious. The festive menu was good value for money. This was my second time to Buckle and Vaughn, it was quieter this time and better for conversation. Thankyou for a lovely lunch, we will return soon.

A tad disappointed in the vegan Christmas roast which was soggy and tasteless but otherwise food was good.

The food was average. Starter was good, main course was a bit disappointing. We had charcoal chicken and rice. It was very dry and there were no dips or sauces available when we asked. The restaurant was very busy and the music was hectic which didn't make for a relaxing atmosphere.

Our waitress was lovely and very helpful. However the bread provided with the pate was so small, not even a whole slice! The chicken skewer and chips was very dry. The food here is disappointing now. A shame as it used to be very good.

Food was overall good. Starters were disappointing however kitchen remediated quickly following our feedback. Mains were delicious but plates could have been warmer. Ambience was not very “Christmasy”. Stated at time of booking that was for Xmas dinner yet no crackers on the table etc which would have been a nice festive touch.

Not cheap but Excellent food and service, albeit a bit noisy.

Main course and service very good, however all deserts which came with custard were cold which was a pity.

Lovely meal with excellent friendly service

Service was excellent -attentive without being obtrusive. Food was generally very good but some of the meat was a little over cooked, not enough to spoil our enjoyment but not quite what we asked for.

Perfect afternoon with friends, delicious food, and the Bramble Cocktail was a hit. Will definitely return one of my favourite restaurants in Winchmore Hill.
