No volveremos

Visitamos este café y pedimos un brie panini. Luego recibimos un bagel de queso de cabra. Le dije a la chica que esto era lo incorrecto, por lo que no se disculpó ni ofreció cambiar el orden al brie panini. No volverá.

I waited 20 minutes for my cold, pre-prepared sandwich and cup of tea to arrive at my table. Turns out they'd decided to heat it up in a panini press without asking me. I was charged £5.50 for the sandwich, which was so overspiced, I couldn't enjoy it, and £2 for the tea. While I waited, I couldn't help wonder what the staff were doing...certainly not clearing tables. I sat there wishing I'd gone to Subway instead.

First and last visit here. Staff unable to cope with more than one customer at a time. Organisational skills of a lemming. Food tasty if you can survive that long. Coffee good design on the top if that’s your bag.

Used to go in here frequently. Ordered a sandwich and coffee for lunch and I got the wrong order. I took a bite and realised it was wrong took it straight up to counter, lifted top to show it was wrong sandwich and politely said that it was incorrect. Fair enough, mistakes happen! It’s how it was handled that is a concern. The manager (so she called herself) told a young girl to swap the sandwich I returned with one incorrectly given to a customer upstairs. I quickly pointed out that I had taken a bite and touched it. I was then given the sandwich from the customer upstairs!! The manager clearly was unhappy when I refused it I asked for my money back as this was the last of its type they had. My confidence in their hygiene procedures had been sapped. The cash was slammed into my hand and although I ordered a coffee with it (my lunch) she wouldn’t refund that as ‘nothing wrong with the coffee’. No apology and no qualms about giving food from someone else’s table to me (she said she could attest to it not being touched as she was watching the CCTV of upstairs the whole time?) I pointed out that I didn’t judge on mistakes but in how an establishment judged the way a restaurant handles it’s mistakes, and they had disappointed me. She really didn’t seem to care less. As you can see from lots of my reviews, I’m not an unfair serial complainer, but I’m very disappointed with this place as used to frequent it. Hygiene training is obviously not high on the agenda! Karma: I knocked my coffee over as I left with my umbrella....

Sitting in BuBu waiting on my daughter, the restaurant isn’t busy, so coffee and cake does my stomach justice or does it? The sliver of cake if minute, they restaurant are selling a sliver of cake between £4.00 & £4.25, and dividing it into 12 portions, so £51.00 for a whole cake!! Absolutely ridiculous. When questioned, I was told everyone has to make a profit, well it’s not on salad leaves is it? Nope, it’s on the cake!!

Excellent coffee, excellent customer service and a warm and welcoming environment. I recently moved back to the area in March of 2018, after being spoiled with the wide range of choice of independent coffee houses in Europe, it was a happy find. Bubu's is a great addition to the city. I read many reviews stating that it is overpriced, I found the prices competitive and so they should be. The coffee is brought to your table, a nice touch. I felt looked after. Being a Coffee Snob, I know what I like and I would choose Bubu's over any large corporate coffee chain every time. Thank you for being there! Don't leave! One happy customer!

I have been going into Bubu pretty much since it opened. Not many places in Dundee do "healthy" food well so it's a great gem to have. I've always went and had breakfast pots and up until semi recently they have been fantastic. They seem to have hired a new chef and that, in my opinion, is where the problems lie. I've had croissants and they were undercooked, I've had the salads (pasta/lentils/cous cous ect) and they were under cooked. More recently, I've had an egg pot with SEVERLY undercooked eggs. It really makes me question ever eating there again. Which is a real shame as the coffees generally are very good and they have very pleasant service. Maybe on the pricier side but I don't mind paying for quality.

Bubu should be a really good coffee/ lunch/ quick eat destination in Dundee as its sandwiches are fresh and varied, service is quick and friendly and there is ample space upstairs for seating. However, the prices are head scratching. Over £8 for a mozzarella/tomato/pesto bagel and a cappuccino to take away?? Nearly £20 for two sandwiches and two coffees??? It's a pity because Dundee could really do with places that are consistently offering good fresh interesting food options / vegetarian food - and Bubu is one- BUT at a price that means Dundonians will come back. Unfortunately I feel that they are only going to attract the spill-over from the V&A with the prices the way they are at the moment, which is a shame because the food is good.

This lovely wee cafe serves up delicious fresh salads and sandwiches. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful with my two little ones. There was something for everyone. Couldn’t walk past the lovely cakes either.

It seems, with so many beans and so many Barista's we're spoiled for choice, these days, but aficionado's will keep with whatever their taste buds demand. Bubu has just what they like! The choices in food are many, also, and the cakes satisfyingly varied. Well recommended!...

I’m sitting in Bubu right now, enjoying breakfast, and, without question, the best flat white I’ve had since my favourite ever at Truth in Cape Town. Rich, powerful, and packs a punch. Just like it should.

So people are asking why this place closed, as it's quite rightly got great reviews for staff service, food, coffee, and general vibe. This was my favourite spot to have a quiet coffee or meet people for a light lunch in Dundee. Basically, the story is that the owner shafted a pregnant employee the day after she went on maternity. He "fired" her and refused to pay her maternity. The staff, having apparently been paid not that great already which is testament to their professionalism given the quality of service, walked out in protest. This was late Spring when the hospitality industry seemingly had ten job vacancies for every candidate, so they rapidly just found other work and Birchwood's workforce simply evaporated overnight. Word got out on Facebook and, especially given the prices, ignited a general boycott of the place through the outrage. I'm unsure if the employee ever did get her *legally required* maternity pay. The last that was being said was that the owner had not only blocked her number, but also HMRC's! A lesson in how a lovely place can come crashing down through the sheer greed of its owner.

Came in on a sunny afternoon for an iced coffee, only to be told they had ran out of ice and they had no cold drink cups to take out? How is this possible!!! Thought I would settle for a regular latte, clearly not their fault, sat down and realised I had made a fatal mistake. It was BOILING in there. How do you let your staff work in this heat???? It’s inhumane! AC vents on the ceiling but no feeling of cold air coming out, and one small fan next to the coffee machine where the barista was standing. The baristas were visibly exhausted and overheated, and not one of them looked happy to be there. Management sort it out!!!!!

My visit was to the gallagher retail park Dundee, must say it was the worst bacon roll I’ve had in my life and I’m almost 80. Bacon was barely cooked and riddled with fat and they charged £4.95 Total disgrace,it’s not rocket science to make a descent bacon roll, they should be ashamed
