We often call in to the bar post-walk for refreshments. However, no tea available and the price of one black coffee, blackcurrant cordial and two packets of crisps was £10.50...this seemed at bit pricey to me so we, unfortunately, after visiting for years, won't be back.

The restaurant is now run by Flame and Grain Wood Fired Catering at the Bryn Tyrch, which has been a welcome addition to an already well established Inn. Having eaten here for two nights, it is clear there is a lot of pride on the food - all homemade, cooked to order, and with quality (& local) ingredients. Simply excellent and couldn’t fault a thing! Staff are friendly and accommodating too, with a range of alcoholic (and non-alcoholic) beverages. A firm favourite for walking in the local area, and walkers can be assured of a good meal after a day on the mountain.

I arrived in Betwys-y-coed in mid-July, and tried to find somewhere to eat after a long journey. I called lots of different restaurants but nowhere was able to make a reservation for me. I was about to give up until I called Bryn Tyrch Inn Restaurant and I was so relieved to find that not only were they not too busy, but I didn't even have to make a reservation! This was a huge relief as I thought I'd have to travel quite far or get a take away. They were serving pies this day, and to be fair I did quite enjoy the pie. However, the pie was served with crisps instead of chips, an extremely basic salid and pickled eggs and onions. At first I thought that this was a Welsh thing to serve food this way, but after eating at other nearby restaurants on the following days, the difference in quality of the dishes became quite apparent; lovely chunky chips and great side foods. The dish I ate would have been fine if it was clear that it wouldn't come with cooked chips, was served at lunch time, and was a slightly lower price, but I felt a little let down with my food. The service was good, they were friendly and attentive. I took photos of all my meals on my holiday, but didn't capture this one as I didn't feel it was worthy of sharing.

Called in yesterday with 6 adults and 1 x 8 year old for a meal. We all had different meals and all agreed that the food was as good as we have ever had. The couple running it, were exceptionally friendly and could not do enough for us; especially for the fussy 8 year old for whom they did some special requests. Very comfortable place, very relaxed atmosphere, beautiful open fire. We were all so impressed that we are now considering staying there at some time in the future. If I could give it 6 stars I would.

We had a fabulous family dinner here...generous portions of quality food well priced and served with proper hospitality...it's a family business that clearly cares. Support them. Great steaks, burgers and fish and chips...pub classics executed with great ingredients and style.. applause especially for the super tasty rump steak. When I spotted lamb scratchings as a starter bite I knew someone in the kitchen knew how to cook...deep fried bits of lamb breast that our kids demolished. Desserts were generous and tasty...we shared the sticky toffee and it was excellent...go.

Dropped in after a long walk. Ordered 2 beers and a tea. The two beers were cloudy. Mine more than the other one. Pointed this out to the barman who said it looked clear to him. He did however give me another pint which was just about passable. I used to work at this hotel many years ago when it was a welcoming place. How times have changed. I will not be visiting again.

Stayed in Capel Curig for a couple of nights around climbing Snowdon etc and ate at the 2 pubs in the village. Entered this premise to a cold welcome e.g. none, and the bar was quiet, 1 other table in at that point. Ordered a bottle of white wine which was provided but warm. Was given bucket of ice to put it in but this was not a great start. Ordered 2xburgers and 1xlambs liver in our party, quality and taste of food was good but the waiting service was pretty dreadful. Food dumped in front of us with no questions asking if we wanted any sauces, or can I get you anything else (usual) etc. Got up to ask for sauce. Got the one I asked for but still no further questions asking the rest of the table if they wanted any. No asking if everything was ok half way through as you’d usually expect, either. Finished our meal, paid up and left. Went back to the other pub in the village, where we’d been the day before, for dessert. Shame, didn’t need to be like that. If you’re going to be in hospitality, please be hospitable.

A friend and I booked for dinner on a Saturday night. Admittedly its the Easter Holidays and so lots of families are about. We sat down early for dinner as we had had a long day and ordered food. Whilst we were there a group of adults and children came into the bar - basically from that point the meal went down hill. We could barely hear ourselves talk over the din of the kids. The parents didnt seem to mind the noise but I could also see other patrons being disturbed by the raucous. We would have stayed and had dessert and probably more drinks but we left after the main course as it had become an unpleasant experience. Whilst I absolutely appreciate that the Bryn Tyrch Inn caters for everyone - I would hope that the staff might have encouraged the parents to quieten down their children. Not a great experience - which is a shame as the meal really was lovely

We visited the Bryn Tyrch in late August for a meal. Though the food was very good, it was let down by the very poor waiting on staff experience. Although we had booked a restaurant reservation, we had to get our own menu's from the bar, and had to go to the bar to ask the waiting on staff twice to take our order, once for the starters and once for the dessert. There was also a very long wait between courses for our plates to be cleaned up. We also had to ask 3 times for the bill.

Stopped here while passing through after seeing the numerous good reviews on TripAdvisor. It was a Sunday around lunchtime and quite quiet, but we didn’t mind that one bit! The location is lovely with mountain views and a cute stream just outside, although being on the main road could be considered a downside. Spacious amount of parking on site and were happy to let us bring our dog in to sit under the table while we ate. I had the vegetarian mushroom and halloumi burger and my partner had the beef roast, both of which were grand portions and absolutely delicious! We were silent most of the meal as we were too focused on how good the food tasted!! The welcome was good and although we weren't blown over by the lunch menu we decided to settle for 4 starters between us, described by our server, as Welsh Tapas! We thoroughly enjoyed leek and cheese tart, beautifully cooked whitebait, calamari and stuffed mushrooms. Some of the accompanying salad was a bit tired but they made an excellent and enjoyable combination. We finished with a lovely lemon posset each. The location is in lovely countryside, and right next to the river, which on a sunny day must be a lovely location for eating and drinking. We stopped for a light lunch and there was a limited menu. The mains were good value and from the table next to us they seemed very good value. We only wanted something light and these seemed to be less of the value. My soup was freshly made and very tasty, but I thought the portion small. Also I had hoped the bread would be warm (as promised) and more rustic. It was a white bread roll, which was OK but not what I expected from the rest of the menu which seemed to suggest an effort to be a gastro-style pub.

We have been coming to this lovely place for years, map in hand to chew over the days walking and refuel on well kept local beers and good wholesome pub food. The owners have been the same for years, but decided on a new approach to managing things according to their daughter and our host for the evening. Regulars to this Snowdonia Mecca may remember the delightful 'spit and sawdust' decor that we loved with cheery chalk boards welcoming you to the menu. We were a little dismayed to see it replaced by more up market gastro pub chintz and worried that this might signal an end to the atmosphere of happy tired climbers and walkers buzzing with their days experiences.

Gastro pub in Capel Curig, I can say that I have been here regularly over the years. Part of the attraction was the intelligence and service of the manageress (owner?), and the fine nosh. As of now, a little uncertainty has been injected into the equation since there are evidently new folk running 'The Moley Pub'. The food still aspires to be a cut above, but when we were there the new crew were evidently still getting it together, albeit with what looked to me like the same menu. Perhaps you won't get cold bits of your meal, and perhaps it will all be quicker.... and perhaps likke me, you will give them a few weeks to get sorted before going back. The hostess is engaged, but the host was prepared to put things very much second best on your table - and I got the impression that I could have been a sheep (or a mole) sitting there - so long as I paid up at the end. But crikey, I couldn't run a pub and perhaps the stress of the new was getting to them all - it would me.

Dining was a brilliant experience, with an incredibly well thought-out and balanced menu that would provide several choices to the most fastidious. Our regret was not staying longer to work further through the delicious options. Portions were exceptionally generous and it was explained the walkers expect a decent recharge after a strenuous day. I didn't hear anyone complaining! The quality of the cooking was absolutely top notch and even more impressive was that it was consistently good. I had the lamb rump twice and both times the result was perfect. Obviously the combination of quality ingredients and great skill in the kitchen is a winning formula. We are accustomed to seeing celebrity chefs on our TV screens, but I can assure you there are some stars in Bryn Trych! We did feel that it was a great shame that we are nearly 4 hours drive away in Cambridgeshire, for it is just too far to pop in for a quick meal. Went as a family to Bryn Tyrch - with most wanting a sunday lunch. We were a group of locals and this was our first visit. I had the Lamb, which was lovely. There was various choices on specials and menu. The service was great there - staff attentive and friendly. The food (most had lamb/chicken dinner and salmon) was lovely, but quiet expensive for what it was (around £15) - no extra veg or gravy was given on the table, and no choice of different potatotes - as we are used to in various restaraunts and the salmon could have had some sort of sauce with it. But the taste was good! Although some were not a fan of "al dente" veg - i couldn't complain as this is how i like them and how they are suppose to be cooked!! Vegetarian option (burger) not great, powdery. was sent back but was dealt with perfectly, and was sent a different option with no hassle which she then enjoyed. The brownie and sticky toffee pudding went down a treat with everyone! What a treat! Thank you - and again thank you to the man and woman waiting on - friendly and nothing too much hassle! :) Bramble mojito is a must there also ;)

I actually hate to complain when I eat anywhere, but I did have to here as the food was appalling. We only ordered pub grub as we had been camping for the weekend and eating off a camping stove so decided a hot meal would be a nice end to our little holiday. Very bad choice of restaurant!! It ruined the day for us actually as it was so far from what we had imagined. Yeah kids food was ok, they seemed happy enough with it but myself and sister ordered the burger. Wow! It looked great and was presented brilliantly...but it was horrible. Quite obviously frozen and cheap. The chips were also frozen. If you've eaten frozen chips in your life you know the difference between home made fresh chips and the rubbish they were serving. I think it's such a shame as this place has great potential to be a fab gastro pub type of restaurant. If they actually served the food the way the menu makes it out. The place is lovely on the inside with unbelievable views. They even cater really well for kids with an abundance of games for them to play with to keep them occupied. In my opinion the food just needs a complete refresh to fresh home cooked food and this place could be great!Note: Our server did take my complaint seriously no questions asked and didn't make us pay for the burgers as I said they were so awful so no complaints about the staff at all, very well handled. He was very apologetic.

We debated long and hard about how many stars to give this place. Lovely cosy feel with real fire and great views plus excellent service. Food and drinks were however a mixed bag - it's not a cheap dinner out so to get oven chips with the main at £14 (one of the cheaper main meals) was a disappointment and an extra unwanted guest in the salad starter even more so (however got a refund without asking for this starter). But on the positive, the starters were lovely as was the fish. Cocktails were great but there are limited local ales and what they have isn't anything to write home about. So in summary its 'good' but you'll pay top price for it.

I had a really great meal of sea bream here after trekking up Snodown earlier in the day. The food was tasty with quality ingredients and it came to the table hot. Couldn't fault it and wolfed it down.

I found this unexpected in such a location. It's a Brunning and Price style pub/restaurant with friendly staff, a good range of local ales and a reasonable menu: not TOO expensive and good quality. Nice open fire; local memorabilia on the walls; sofas. Cosy and relaxed. Treat yourself!

Always come here for a meal when we are in the area as it offers a great menu which is not your traditional pub grub or fast food; everything is fresh prepared and presented beautifully on slate. Great real ales and the service and staff are friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. Booking recommended for dinner at the height of the season.

We stayed overnight on a tour of Snowdonia and found everything from the warm welcome to the efficient check out excellent. The bar stocks a good choice of beers and real ale as well a great, reasonably priced wine list and several decent malt whiskeys. We enjoyed lounging on the comfortable sofas in the bar in the afternoon whilst we browsed the dinner menu for that evening and it did not disappoint. Food was fresh, delicious and arrived quickly. We even treated ourselves to the gorgeous cheeseboard with a glass of port whilst retiring to the sofas once more. Our room, Siabod, was generous in size and beautifully decorated. Nice touches like homemade shortbread on the tea tray. We had two windows offering views of the stunning backdrop, making it a shame to draw the curtains! The bed was divinely comfortable too. After a day of walking, a lovely hot bath was most welcome. The bathroom was exquisite with plenty of room and yet more views of the scenery. All in all we couldn't fault Bryn Tyrch and will certainly return to this gem of a find!

Fabulous roast lamb (some of the best I've ever eaten), deserts and cheese and good beers. Steak was rather over-done (I asked for 'rare' and it was barely pink inside) and a little tough.

We went for a meal here and unfortunately were not very impressed.the restaurant itself looks very nice and clean and has all the promise of a nice meal.the food didn't live up to the expectation and the price did not reflect the quality.the staff were unaware and didn't go above and beyond or meet a standard that you would expect when dining out.i did raise my concern and said that I didn't want to be an inconvenience but I would rather inform them.i was given a free drink but i would have been more happy if the meal was taken off the bill as I didn't eat it all.it was disheartening as the meal the night before at another pub was brilliant and nearly half the price.

Linda McCartney sausages, mash and steamed veg for £13! They should be ashamed of themselves. Boil in the bag rice, and packet tortilla chips with the veg chilli. Packet veggie burger - tasty but not what you expect for £13. Basically the veggie food is packet food, and the same price as the meat dishes. The onion rings were delicious, and puddings great.

Late lunch with friends but their staff were very accommodating at short notice. Lovely range of the familiar such as steak, fish and burgers but also unusual dishes such as Hungarian specials. Recent refit has benefitted and spruced up the pub with a fresh look whilst keeping the Victorian feel. Roaring fire on a cold day was very welcome!

Turned up as an impromptu group of 15 on a Saturday night. Despite this they accommodated all of us in a large (slightly surreal Alice in Wonderland) function room. (The FOH made slightly frosty apologies about how difficult it was to serve the group and that it might not be possible - but in the end they dealt with us as if we had booked, so a shame that the FOH took this approach as we needn't have known any of this.)Great food - had liver and bacon. Menu didn't label gluten free, but was able to provide. Plenty of parking even for a 7-metre motorhome. Dog was allowed in.

Recently had a meal here. The staff were very good, very attentive and are a massive 'plus' for the pub. The food, however, was pretty average, over-priced and inconsistent to the menu in terms of pricing.I had a cream of mushroom soup which was very good but was charged the higher of the two prices that it was quoted on two different menus; the dinner special and the 'regular' menu. What followed in the 'five' bean casserole was very poor. I couldn't make out if there were any beans at all, let alone five! I also appreciate that microwaves serve their purpose but my food had been properly blitzed in one to the point that the waiter had burnt his hand on the plate whilst bringing it to me and it didn't reach temperatures less than molten throughout the time it took me to eat. As such any flavour that this simple dish might have had was wholly lost on my scorched palette. Cost nearly £15 for it too....scandal.

It was Sunday afternoon and we had no reservation. Restaurant was empty and we nearly turned back towards Betwsy-Coed as we were not sure about the food. Delicious food and staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We arrived for lunch in a fluster with a hungry baby and an elderly dog on a very wet Tuesday. From the moment we walked in the lobby the staff were lovely, finding us a table in a suitable area and giving us the time and space to get sorted. There was no hurry to order and they bought us coffee and water to heat the baby’s food before we ordered. Once calm was restored and we ordered the service continued to impress and the food was delicious and fairly priced. Credit to all at the hotel.

2 of the main courses were unavailable. The vegetables for the lamb course were unavailable. Alternative vegetables were given which were undercooked and cold. Potato was tasteless and cold . Did mention it to waiter whose response was sorry. £24 for a piece of lamb is unacceptable as I didn't eat the vegetables or potatoes.

Eight adults booked a table here last Wednesday and from the second we stepped into the place we were in love with it. The elegance and charm were extraordinary. Then came the 3 course meal ! Everybody raved about every course. The service was impeccable and if I lived nearer I’d be a regular! Cannot fault one detail .
