If you real coffee lovers are tired of the dishwater chain coffee shops are ripping you off with I'd wholeheartedly recommend Brownies & Coffee. This place does proper coffee for a good price. A genuine hidden gem coffee shop just behind the guildhall. 10/10 would caffinate here again.

Simply the best coffee and brownies in Norwich. The brownies, buns, and other baked goods are all baked on site and there's always new flavours to try! Plus vegan and gluten free options.

Visited today for the first time to catch up with an old friend. Perfect venue for coffee and a chat, the coffee itself was really nice and I absolutely loved the kinder bueno brownie. Would love to visit again and try another brownie flavour

Greeeat coffee, including the Decaf. Jonathan, Charlie and the other staff are always super friendly. Basque Cheesecake is sooooo good!

Lovely place, brownie is delicious, we tried a few different flavours and took some home it was so good!

Staff are lovely and make you feel very welcome. The pistachio cream latte blew me away, amazing. Little gift shop as well which was a very nice touch.

I had a very nice hot chocolate whilst studying, the service was amazing, the staff were nice , and it was a nice calm atmosphere to study in. 10/10 would recommend will be studying there again!

Just to say a big Thank- You to the server today who handed me a cup of water and allowed me to sit at the table outside with a young girl who was having a panic attack . A kind gesture which helped the young girl recover and move forwards in her day.

Hands down some of the best coffee in the city and the most decadent brownies I have ever had! Brownies & Coffee has become a regular place for my husband and I to stop by for a treat, and we would 100% recommend it to anyone in the city. Everyone at the shop is so kind and obviously care so much about the coffee and different desserts they offer. It is truly a gem of a place in Norwich!

Probably the best coffee in Norwich, the long black is especially good (and not just an americano is disguise). Great selection of brownies with lots of vegan options and a couple of toasties that change frequently (always with one being vegan).

Great coffee, served at a great temperature. Nice staff. Relaxed feel, felt happy to spend a good hour in here reading. Didn't try a brownie - need to rectify that. Terrible music, played slightly too loud, but that's my only quibble. Very much recommend 👍🏻

We’ve been visiting the shop for years now and it is always amazing. The brownies are fantastic and the service is brilliant, and the staff heroically endure our children. We even had a wedding brownie assortment. A+ would eat brownies again.

So, been to the cafe before and was quite impressed, because pretty decent coffee served and vegan options for cake available BUT today, very disappointed. Had arranged to meet family at 11am when online it says was open. However inside lights on, closed sign up, tried door, no go ! a guy (the manager/owner ) came towards door, ignored us went downstairs, came back , didn’t open door, ignored us, no eye contact. In the end we left (now 11.10) had to settle for below standard franchise coffee shop and no cake! which is why we chose this cafe originally!

What a lovely find and this was after asking a Big Issue Employee if they wanted a hot drink on a cold snappy rainy day. The hot chocolate with glazed marshmellow looked wonderful ; this with the Love From Norwich Scheme. What a great idea! The service was fantastic behind the bar and plentiful Gluten Free sweet treats. I had to pop back and this I did very soon after. The hazelnut praline was rich and absolutely fabulous with a pot of tea. I will be back : D

Friendly, independent boutique style coffee shop with truly outstanding coffee and cakes. Always a friendly welcome and a comfortable relaxed atmosphere. Plus they are part of the “cuppa kindness” pay forward scheme. This is my current favourite coffee shop in Norwich.

Fabulous place for coffee. Not a brownie fan, but the raspberry croissant was excellent.

We stumbled on this coffee shop on a wet day in November. Great coffee and really delicious brownies! So good that we went twice in a day. The back area was a bit messy, and felt a bit unfinished, but otherwise a nice place to stop.

Been here a couple times for coffee with my toddler. Staff are lovely and knowledgeable, coffee is superb. There are always vegan and gluten-free options. Coffee beans are roasted locally and there's a guest roast available. Can recommend enough.

The brownies here are insane, they are buttery and smooth, I feel like I never knew what a true brownie tasted like until I came here. It tasted like chocolate pudding, and the brownies were the kind that melts in the middle. The texture inside was soft and moist, no grittiness from excess sugar, it was the right amount.

I was walking around all day and needed a place to chill and have a cheap bite, and this place ticked the box! The lavender tea was nice, the billionaire's brownie was delicious, and the halloumi toastie was reasonably priced. It was quiet inside, but I quite liked that. My favourite thing was that they had a pay-it-forward scheme where you can pay a little towards a hot drink, brownie, or hot meal and someone in need can come in, grab a voucher, and grab a drink and/or food. I like seeing how how my money directly helps others. My only recommendation is that it would be nice if they list what teas they have (although I do understand their main focus is on coffee) ; I also think it would be cool if they collaborated with Birchley's loose leaf teas and brought in a unique selection of teas that other shops don't do, just to give a unique experience. Overall I highly recommend this place, I wish I took pics for the review!

Got a brownie to takeaway. Was a little annoyed they only do these in boxes rather than a bag. The box was also sticky. Neither was the end of the world. However, later got home and found a hair baked into it 🤢

There was a short hair baked into the middle of the brownie. Only discovered halfway through eating when I had to pull it out 🤢 was so disappointed as it’s quite expensive and was looking forward to trying here for ages

Daughter and I popped in to get brownies to go after a recommendation. The cinnamon blondie and Jaffa cake brownie are both so, so good. The guy was really friendly too. Would definitely recommend.

The best espresso in town. All of life’s mysteries unravel as the crema dances around in cup. Powerful flavours and plenty of sweet treats to meet all dietary requirements . 5 stars

Was pretty quiet when we went in so not much of an atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The coffee was very good and the brownie was genuinely the best I have ever eaten. Not sure if they have anything vegan.

We accidentally found this wonderful coffee shop today. Great coffee, those that know coffee will appreciate this place! Great brownies with gluten free and vegan options made by the very talented owner. Very glad we saw it before I ended up with another dishwater coffee from the Costa very close by...!

We had a few coffees in Norwich and this was the best one. The brownies are truly indulgent and the almond croissant is an unusual take on “the classic”. Keep us the good work.

Found this place on visit to Norfolk. By far best coffee we've had on our trip. Cake was lovely too. Discovered all are homemade by owner Jonathan who does everything himself. Really recommend if you're looking for a friendly independent cafe next to the market.

Effortlessly cool and intriguing yet welcoming café in the heart of Norwich, with quite possibly the best coffee in town, made with love and dedication. In addition, I wasn't a fan of brownies but since coming here I am now! 5* Support local!

This place is easily overlooked. Even the name itself "Brownies and Coffee" (on the corner of "Labour in Vain Yard") is a name that doesn't swan it for you like say Strawberries and Champagne might. Apart from the gorgeous succulence of chocolate; "brown" is not a colour we like to see too much of on our plates. Chocolate sales would plummet if we had to ask for a Bar of Brown. And Colonel Sanders would have died unsung and unlamented, if he had called his product, Kentucky Brown Chicken. However; that minor quibble aside, this place is a little purple-painted, treasure box of perfection. The coffee is consistently amongst the very best in Norwich. And Norwich, for those who haven't experienced the far flung delights of Thetford and Kirkwall, has some of the finest coffee in the kingdom. I don't want my coffee "made with passion". Those who claim to have a "passion" for pulling pints or working in insurance, are either liars or are having their OCD shamefully exploited. The coffee here is excellent, it takes slightly longer to make, but that i imagine is because the guy making it, takes pride in his craft and wants his customers to have value and pleasure in what they spend their money on. The vibe is friendly and welcoming. Though i always have a sense when i'm there, that i have just missed out on meeting Earnest Hemingway. A very well deserved 5 stars.
