Brown Sugar in Cheshire West and Chester

We came across this little gem by accident . What an amazing find. The staff were very welcoming, the hot chocolate was the best I have ever had and my partner said his cake and coffee were delicious. Will definitely be back to sample the food.

Another visit to the best cafe/coffee shop in Chester. Sandwiches are freshly made and are superb. Plenty of cakes to choose from and a wide selection of drinks to choose from. Friendly owners and always good service.

Walking past and called in, Coffee and Coffee Cake..excellent…very friendly owners made us feel welcome. Great service great cake 🍰 next time in Chester we will definitely call again.

A small, friendly little cafe with a good selection of hot choices and a tempting choice of cakes and pastries! It's a small place with only a few tables so sometimes you won't get a seat. But there is takeaway available! Coffee is good, breakfast sandwiches are good and the cooked brekkies look great too!

Me and my husband met up for a coffee in town and I suggested Brown Sugar as I’ve been there before. The owners are friendly, warm and welcoming. The cafe is spotless and cosy. I had the best egg mayo sandwich ever and my husband really enjoyed the homemade soup. The mug of tea and the cappuccino were piping hot - lovely! Likely to become our go to place!

A friend and I had lunch here today with our 2.5 year olds. It is such a great cafe, we had a really friendly welcome and it was especially nice that our children were chatted to and helped into their seats making them feel grown up. Although there was no specific children's menu we were told that small portions could be provided and at my daughter's request she had lovely chunky fishfingers, beans and even crisps provided on the side when she asked as well as a lovely froth milk in a special bottle with a straw. The adults had panini's. The food was excellent and it was a lovely relaxing experience which is not often you can say that when eating out with toddlers!

My friend and I took our 2 year olds here for our first visit today and the waiter could not have been more helpful and friendly. He was really accommodating with the kids in general and their food orders, and the food was all delicious! Would highly recommend anyone to visit Brown Sugar when they're next in Chester!

Lovely cafe, very friendly staff, great choice of homemade cakes (ones we had were all delicious as was the panini my son had), nothing was too much trouble. We aren't local unfortunately but we would definitely return next time we are in Chester.

Been here quite a few times now. Owners are superb and the food is excellent. Various sandwiches, paninis, breakfasts and a selection of homemade cakes to die for. The Victoria sponge is the best I’ve ever had!!! The seeded brown bread for sandwiches is cut thick and full of whatever filling you choose. The white bread again cut thick just melts in your mouth. Too many I’ve had to recommend as all are good.

Everything is amazing here, the food, drinks and the owners. Felt very comfortable here and everything is affordable !!

My wife and I visited twice today we loved it so much. The food & coffee were excellent and reasonably priced. The owners were brilliant & so helpful. The atmosphere was so nice away from the hustle & bustle of the City Centre Eateries. Located just across the river very close to the City. So peaceful. Love it. Brilliant for cyclists. Will definitely visit again when we are next in Cheshire. Highly Recommended

This is a cafe that is a cut well above normal cafe standards. Since discovering their take out service now a regular. All sandwiches we have had are of excellent quality, really well put together with many interesting specials. I have officially declared that their fish finger butty is my all time favourite! And also really recommend the scones. Have perked up my lunchtimes!

This is our second visit to Brown Sugar Internet Cafe, we will continue to return. The breakfasts are great and the staff so friendly and helpful too.

We visited on Sat 22nd Feb. My brother had recommended this place for the tasty food, ambience and lovely owners. We had to wait a little while for our food because it was rather busy however it was certainly worth the wait. The soup was delicious (home made) and I have never tasted such fresh bread. We would defintely visit again and have no hesitation in recommending this great little internet cafe. Thanks for an enjoyable visit!

We called in here for breakfast after reading the reviews on Trip advisor. We wasn’t disappointed. The food was delicious. We had a full breakfast with a pot of tea. Pancakes with maple syrup and a Hot chocolate. We even took home a home made Chocolate Brownie. Lovely environment with an outside toilet which was spotless. The staff/owners were really friendly and welcoming. We will be back the next time we’re in Chester.

Popped into this fantastic little coffee shop for an early lunch and business meeting after visiting sites in the area.Had a lovely warm welcome and it really felt that the place was a hub for the community.We had tea, coffees and a bite to eat and all food was great and freshly prepared. Would definitely eat here again when in the area.

A stone's throw from the old bridge over the River Dee. Cafe with space out the back if the sun is shining. Both had the halloumi and red pepper salad with balsamic glaze. Really good. Lots of halloumi! Then homemade raspberry flap Jack.The couple running the cafe couldn't be more friendly or helpful. Loo out the back is spotless.Food delicious and very reasonable.Also do take out and a picnic deal, very handy for Edgar's field or to eat sitting next to the Dee.

Went in for a coffee and hot chocolate and brownie for the kids. Amazing service, beautiful brownies and a very clean toilet. Would recommend and certainly go again. Did not order food but it looked very good.

This is my 5 year old daughter's favourite place to eat. Paninis served with lovely salad & crisps & very well priced. Over the road from a lovely play area and a stone's throw from the river. Owners are lovely and always pay attention to the children. People coming in and out were greeted by name. This place has a personal touch.

Only stopped here because looking over the bridge Chester looked really busy. So glad we did! This is a lovely friendly cafe with delicious home cooked food all delivered with the kind of service I thought had disappeared for good! Will definitely be back here.

Went for a little brunch the other day, first time in this cafe and absolutley loved it and will certainly be going back again.There is a warm welcome and lots of things on the menu to choose from, it's also a very busy little cafe and lots of people arrived and couldn't be accommodated, so is obviously a thriving little business.Looking forward to another visit soon

Brown Sugar has been thriving nicely in Handbridge for a good few years now. The staff are brilliant and the food and drinks superb. A hard place to walk past on the way into town without calling in!

Moved to Handbridge in March and have visited on a number of occasions. It is always packed so you are lucky to get a seat. The staff are always friendly and go out of there way to make you feel welcome. The food is fresh, the establishment is very clean and it is very reasonably priced :) x

Stopped in here at 3:30 pm (1/2 hr. before closing) and ordered two full breakfasts and coffees. Fantastic -- and the owners were all very friendly (we chatted with them for a while even after they closed -- they were very nice to us). A warm local eatery, and it also has Internet access, Wi-Fi, and printing access. The owners work hard and run an excellent shop with delicious food and strong coffee (they can make it lighter if you like -- and they ask for your preference). On our way back to our B&B after a long 3 hours in the rainy town-center, we entered this place and it greatly brightened our moods, so that we felt refreshed and ready to tackle the walls of Chester afterward. Highly recommended, and not expensive or crowded with tourists. Loved it so well that I left a double-sized tip, and would do so again.

I often call to Brown Sugar for lunch - specifically for the Bacon and Brie panini with cranberry- it's genuinely delicious- the nicest I've ever had. Service is always excellent and so sincere, great portions and great value for money. Would highly recommend.

The staff greet you with a big smile and the atmosphere inside is very relaxed. I had the most amazing iced coffee here with a shot of salted caramel and it was gorgeous! I also got a brownie to take away and OH MY WORD IT TASTED LIKE HEAVEN!!! This was a beautiful little find and will definitely be returning soon!!

Must have driven past here on numerous occasions but yesterday decided to drop in and so pleased we did. A real find and so close to Chester city centre as its just across the Dee Bridge in a row of quirky little shops. Walk up to the zebra crossing and you are there. Great coffee and the teacakes were really good. The breakfast served to the next table looked really good. Nice smily staff and set out just as I remember Tea Rooms as a kid. Love it.

Fantastic spur of the moment find! What a lovely welcoming place. We called in for brunch and had delicious pancakes with bacon and syrup and full breakfast for one of us. Also ordered coffees and a speciality iced drink which were also fabulous.

This is a little place just on the outskirts of Chester City in Handbridge. The staff are friendly and the breakfast was freshly cooked, tasty, not cheap, but well priced and just what I needed. There is only space for a few people, but it is well set out and cosy.

My husband and I have been here a couple times. Both times we have had sandwiches. They are a good portion and you also get generous side of salad, crisps and coleslaw. Last time we went I had a milkshake and my husband had a frappe. They were delicious and would def have again. We would def recommend this place and will be going there again.

This cafe in the old post office in Handbridge is one of our favourite places in Chester to have a coffee,cake, breakfast or lunch. From a full English to a panini the food is delicious and there's usually some different specials on the menu. Gem of a place!

Brown Sugar is one of my favourite cafe's. Always welcoming and a great fuss of the kids if you bring them along. Food is great, freshly baked bread and quality ingredients especially the bacon. If you go for breakfast, everything grilled no fried food. Cakes are just lovely. If you are in Handbridge, try this little secret.

I came here to relax with my friend and to grab a drink as it was very hot outside I decided to go for the milkshakes. One of the good things about this was that you could choose 2 fruit out of a selection which would then be made into a milkshake. The staff were very friendly, kind and sweet. We felt very welcome and comfortable. They checked up on us even though its a fairly small shop and we felt happy leaving.

I have lived in handbridge for almost 5 years now and have walked past most days being tempted by the menu boards but never walked in and instead usually go to one of the similar cafes nearby. However today after work I decided to finally give it a go and believe me I was glad I did! Straight away I received a friendly greeting by both of the husband and wife team. I looked at the all very delicious looking cakes and chose the caramel short cake with white chocolate and cranberries on which was recommended by the male and he served it efficiently with a smile. Whilst I was eating my shortcake and reading my magazine I noticed two elderly women coming in who were obviously regulars and one wasn't very mobile but both staff took time to help them sit down and chat to them, nothing was too much trouble! If you don't live in handbridge you may never have come across it before but if you have and have never been in definetly give it a try it was just such a lovely atmosphere, delicious cake and good value will definetly be back!

This cafe is a regular for my family and I . Fresh food with the loveliest staff . Very family orientated and the food is fresh and tasty . We love the Scottish lady. I'm sorry - I don't know her name but she is always happy, smiling and chatty. Well worth a visit . The breakfasts are delicious !

This is small café run by a husband and wife team. You are always greeted my warm smile and made very welcome, amazingly they always remember you and your drinks. Coffee is of a high quality, as is the home made bread and cakes. Try the bacon sandwich, you will return, as I do time and time again.
