Brothers Kitchen in Barnet

Changed name to Olea but pretty much the same (tax dodge?) Food nice but found things added on to bill that should have been part if the deal. Not convinced it was an accident.

Visited this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. We had booked it ages before as we noticed they were dog friendly. There was 10 of us and we sat upstairs which was so lovely to have our own space. Food was great.. everyone enjoyed it. We did feel however its very overpriced.. the mix grill around £20 and the portion didn’t reflect that price. They were out of alot of wines so had to go with a more expensive one. Overall we did enjoy the food and service was lovely but just the price let it down.

Friendly service. The signs about specials outside are misleading. Beer although bottled was flat. No bread offered or any hummus, tzatziki etc. Main, mixed grill average and the chicken and lamb kebab was average too. Quite dry. Very overpriced for the portion and really for what it was. A shame.

Visited on a Saturday evening with friends. The waitress, Beri, was really attentive without being ott and made us feel welcome. She recommended a shared started which was delicious. The main courses were fresh and tasty - seafood casserole, lamb fillets, and lamb skewers. Too full for dessert sadly. I have heard awesome things about the Sunday buffet, which we would like to try on another occasion. Thank you for a lovely evening.

3 of us went there for late lunch/ early dinner on sunday. The restaurant was empty so we did not have a great impression as we walked in. We had a table booked so we decided to stay and give it a try. We ordered bottle of wine first and took a bit longer to decide what we were going to eat as the menu was very long and they had different variety of food. The waitress brought us hummus and pitta on house which was a nice surprise. We ordered some olives as a snack , soute king prawns served with rice as a starter, my husband had tomato, avocado and mozzarella salad. Prowns were definitely frozen and did not taste right at all, very buttery. I did not even try rice as I decided I am not going to eat it so I left the dish on the side of the table. Olives were absolutely disappointing, very dry, mushy, the cheap ones you can get at every supermarket from the glass jar. The were drizzled with some olive oil and sprinkled with some seasoning, we did not eat it, just me and my fried tried a few but there were not something you would expect to order at Mediterranean restaurant. My husband's salad was quite ok but did not present nice on the plate, it looked like a child would cut it into pieces and chucked it on the plate. Waitress came to our table and asked me what was wrong with the prawns and why I wasn't eating it. I explained politely that they are not good quality prawns and i did not like it so she started saying that I might be the person who doesn't like sea food so I should have ordered something else! She took it back and she brought our main. It was even worse than starters. My husband and a fried ordered medium rare peppercorns stakes, which were served well done! They kept quiet as we did not really like to make more fuss about food, and we did not want to leave the place without paying the bill because we had our drinks and we were trying every food we have ordered. My grilled sea bas was absolutely awful and burnt with no flavour at all. I only tried a bit and left it on the plate, I only ate spinach and roasted potatoes which was served with the fish. Root vegetables which were served with steaks were all cooked from frozen. Very disappointing. Waitress came along asking again how was the food, so again I politely explained to her what we didn't like it. She said she would take off service charge from our bill. She brought up the bill, were service charge was taken off plus 10% discount added to the bill. I asked her how it is all right we are being charged for fish I did not eat, prawns which I did not eat and olives we did not eat?! She rushed to the kichen and brought up the bowl of rice and started asking me why I did not eat the rice (served with prawns ) and what was wrong with rice, she was claiming that rice is rice and I should have eaten it! Very rude. I told her we decided to stay and we will pay for the bill but she has to understand that food is not good quality, not what we would expect eating at the Mediterranean restaurant! When I told her that vegetables were cooked from frozen, and it is summer and we have fresh vegetables everywhere she said that frozen vegetables are served everywhere and it should not be a problem! Then she started claiming that steaks they serve are cheaper than anywhere else and she asked me 3 times how much do we pay for steaks somewhere else?! Absolutely rude. She also said I have different taste and it looks like I don't like food I order! At the end she brought up another bill which was 10£ cheaper than the first one. We paid for our mains , wine, beer, tomato salad, she took off olives and prawns and the service charge. The final bill was £90 and we did pay for it although she was very rude and kept claiming food was good and we have different taste! Absolutely awful attitude! I do not recommend going there and I was surprised this place has a 4,6 star rating and this is why we chose to go there.

Visited restaurant for a midweek meal with friend on her recommendation. Told waitress I was coeliac and she looked at me as if I had two heads and proceeded to bring free plate of hummus with pitta bread. We said we didn’t want it and I repeated because I am coeliac. She brought out main course of chicken skewer with rice presented on another piece of pitta bread. 😕 I didn’t want to embarrass my friend so I quickly removed meat from bread and put on other side of my plate. Within forty five mins I had had a huge coeliac attack- had to rush to lavatory twice in 10 mins at restaurant , then leave speedily to get home where I was ill for four hours. The meat was also rubbery . If I had had a peanut or similar allergy goodness knows what would have happened. There didn’t seem to be any dietary or allergen info on menu. Will not be returning .

My friend and I met up for along overdue catch. We were walking by this restaurant and had a glance at the menu at we had been unable to get into Pizza Express and the waitress came to the door and enticed us in off the street. The menu is vast, not your typical mediterranean and there is lots to choose from. We didn't order a starter but they brought over bread and humus so we were glad we didn't. I had jumbo king prawns for main which came with rice. It wasn't a huge portion and was a bit pricey but it was filling enough. For dessert we both had some chocolate torte thing, it was pretty rich. The staff were friendly and attentive. Would dine again.

Thoroughly enjoyed dinner for two tonight. Mixed seafood dish was superbly prepared and generous portion. Attentive but unobtrusive service.

This was our first time visiting Brothers' Kitchen, but it will certainly not be our last! The food was excellent, well portioned and arrived in good time. The waitress was very welcoming, jovial and attentive to our needs. Additionally, the venue was quiet and cosy. Keep up the excellent service! Well done to the chef! We will definitely be returning. Two of us went there for an early Christmas celebration. We had a lovely waitress serving us. Both of us had scallops and rib eye steaks off the Christmas menu. The scallops were nice but tiny - it was essentially ONE scallop cut in two halves, quite amusing.... Unfortunately the average rib eye steak was small (not 10 oz) and arrived medium done not medium rare. Curly fries were tasty, vegetables were passable, and I had the mushroom sauce instead. Mixed fruit creme brulee had one raspberry and two blueberries!!! Apart from that this dessert was nicely prepared. I am not sure what to think as this is not a cheap restaurant. It will have to do better in this neighbourhood.

went there for lunch and was served by Beri who gave an excellent service. I had a two course meal - garlic mushrroms as a starter and oven backed aubergine both were superb tasty. I had also had a bit of home made chilli sauce with both items. Excellent choice for vegetarians. will definitely visit again,

Amazing food, friendly staff. Such a great evening in brothers kitchen, the food was amazing and the waitress was so attentive. They even gave us a free drink at the end as we were celebrating a family birthday - such a nice touch!

Absolutely Shocking service. Ordered a mail through deliveroo which wasn’t delivered. I called the restaurant and they said they had no responsibility and the manager wouldn’t talk to me as he had “customers” to deal with. They told me that we weren’t their customers. Deliveroo eventually admitted the food was not delivered, they never said whether they actually were given the order from the restaurant. I called the restaurant and they refused to arrange a redelivery, telling me I should be happy as deliveroo had credited me. When I told them I thought the restaurant and deliveroo had a responsibility to get food to an honest paying customer they disagreed, and told me I obviously had never run a business if I thought that something that I had been paid for should be delivered. The young lady I spoke to was extremely rude to me. All I ever tried to do was order £100 worth of food for a dinner party. NEVER NEVER AGAIN, HEARING WHAT THE MANAGER WAS SAYING ABOUT ME WHEN I WAS ON THE PHONE TO HIS COLLEAGUE WAS JUST SHOCKING.
