Good value traditional British hotel We visited here as had to visit someone who lives in this area. It was very reasonable priced and I did check the reviews first and as usual I did read between the lines. The hotel is not far from Kingsbury which was where I was visiting. The free car park was spacious , the reception was traditional and inviting, we had a warm welcome. Given directions to our room. We walked through a beautiful courtyard to our room block. Because of the old building I found finding the room a bit confusing but do appreciate that fire doors are required and keep the building safe. I just missed the stairs up to our room because the door just looked like a room and the sign didn’t stand out enough: (but it is not really a complaint just to make people aware) . The room was a little tired but it was clean, we had plenty of storage if needed it. A good sized bathroom. A great shower over the bath. The hot water was very hot and practically instant, towels and bedding clean. Hand soap and shower gel is provided . We had a kettle and teabags making facilities however no coffee so we did get some coffee and milk when we were out. I’m sure if we’d asked they’d have given us some. The dining room reminded me of a traditional restaurant. We sat at a laid table . Was served fresh tea or coffee and a full English breakfast. The bacon was a beautiful thick slice . It was a well cooked and presented meal. There is a toaster there where I made myself toast to go with my breakfast. And if wanted there is a choice of cereal The hotel is in a quiet area. There are beautiful little nooks and crannies for a relax, if I was wasn’t rushing around I would have loved to have chilled in the courtyard . It was so beautiful, it was so relaxed the view from our window was also lovely: I just felt comfortable, chilled and happy. I can’t understand the cleanliness rating as our room was spotless: Would stay here again .. most definitely. I think sometimes people pay budget prices and expect 5 star accommodation. If somewhere is comfortable, clean and welcoming it doesn’t need to be luxury items. I am rating this 5 stars on value for money and fairly for what I paid ..

15th January 2025. Booked room at 08.00pm as I was unexpectedly delayed on journey. Arrived at hotel at 10.00pm and directed to a family room, Double bed and 2 Singles. Room was freezing cold, NO heater on at all. Small electric panel heater on wall. Even boiled kettle repeatedly to get a glimmer of warmth into the room. Pulled single duvets off 2 other beds and went to bed fully dressed. Just kicked shoes off. They could have gone and switched heater on when booking was made over the phone., but that would have involved "Thinking" and "Service", both of which are obviously in short supply at this establishment. Hotel generally tired and in need of general maintenance.

What a lovely little hotel. Staff were absolutely lovely. The room was very spacious. People moaning about the rooms being cold is untrue we stayed one night with minus temperatures and the room was lovely. The pressure In the shower nearly took my skin off which is how I like it. Possibly the best steak I have ever had for the evening meal. The breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked. Can’t wait to go back definitely staying there again. The location is amazing with lovely walks along the canal

We stayed here on New Year's Eve for just one night. The only reason for our stay was to take our dog somewhere quiet as he is frightened of fireworks. We had a lovely peaceful night and never heard one loud bang! Friendly staff and comfy bed so no complaints here and one happy dog 😊 so thank you

A lovely pre Christmas afternoon tea with friends. It was a little cold because we were the only people there, but soon warmed up with a warm welcome, flowing tea and coffee and lovely cake and sandwiches.

I was so disappointed at what I met at room 48 which I was given. I declined sleeping the night. Spider web welcomed me and the cold room discouraged me from enjoying the reservation. I complained to staff and I was not offered another place. She only said she will let the manager know the next day. I am yet to receive a call or text as at this report. It was a horrible experience. I actually booked it as a surprise for 25th eve for wifey but it was a failed project. I do hope that if my review helps the management improve state of things for future guests, I have added value to the experience tourism industry for others.

Took my friends here as a surprise gift. Rooms very outdated and hotel freezing cold. Asked to be move somewhere warmer was told the heating on timer and everywhere is cold. We were the only people in there. Lady on reception looked cold was left to do afternoon tea as well. Couldn’t wait to leave don’t go here. Outdated, cold not enjoyably

So a double bed is actually two beds pushed together, wall paper is peeling off of the walls in a few places it looks like there's blood staining on another wall all of this without looking for issues or trying to be awkward or anything it's just how it is within 5 minutes of entering a room. This isn't a 4* hotel....

Chicken meat is always lovely, never had a complaint about it and I can be a very picky person. Always a lovely service and food 🙂

A solid place for family meal, great for kids and grandparents. Good pub options, served hot and generally generous. Ice cream is Mr Whippy like. Large bar selection. Cuisine is again solid, not a la carte. Donkeys and guinea pigs are nice, but it won't make a romantic or upscale place yet.

Tried The Rice Bowl recently and was really impressed. The food was hot, tasty, and full of flavor. I had Singapore chow mein and BBQ spare ribs—both were spot on.—all delicious. Portions were generous and the service was quick and friendly. Great value for money. Will definitely order again!

We waited for over 10 minutes to be served but nobody was there. We could hear people talking/calling from the back room. We had to leave without being served. Will not be returning.
