! Un gran trabajo, gracias

As the offer was on we decided to give it a try and we weren’t disappointed. Nice surroundings and good atmosphere, helped by the friendliness of the chef who craved the meat. Very generous portions and plenty of vegetables, all quality cooked. Enjoyed our meal and would go again with the offer.

Phoned to enquire with the chef about what was gluten free on a set menu for a special event. Phone back to book -stating gluten free. Phoned 24 hours in advance; they had no idea who we were or that we’d booked gluten free. Finally found our booking under the wrong name and added the note about dietary requirements. Well at least we thought they did. Fawlty towers has nothing on the shambles of the Brook Hotel. Arrived to the event on the night and after everyone else was served, had eaten, and cleared, my food finally arrived. I’m not even joking. I had to ask about each course and 2 out of 3 were wrong, and that’s only because the main course was naturally gluten free!! It’s a good job I didn’t eat everything they gave me as I’d be very ill as a result. The incompetent duty manager blamed everyone else despite admitting he had taken the call the day before the event checking our booking, and knew I needed gluten free, but it wasn’t on his sheet of paper so therefore not his fault. I didn’t finish my meal and we left early. We were not the first people to complain and leave early. Please be aware that the function evenings look glossy and well prepared on the surface but the food is awful and problems are rife. I would never eat here ever again. As for special dietary requirements, When I plan to eat out I often call in advance to see if they can cater for gluten free. It means on the night I can enjoy myself without having to fret or worry that I’ll be poisoned by a Food I need to avoid for medical reasons. This experience was the exact opposite despite us being proactive in our planning. I was very upset about the way I was treated. On the other hand the entertainment was fab and my only regret is that I missed the conclusion of the murder mystery as the story was fab with plenty of red herrings and interesting characters. I hope to see them again somewhere else, but never at this hotel again!

The restaurant is a little dark and may appear off-putting. However the menu was reasonably comprehensive, the food was good the service was very good. On the downside those people smoking just outside the door to the courtyard meant that the smell of the smoke drifted into the dining area which is not acceptable.

Ate here whilst staying at the hotel. Decided to have a burger as nothing else on the menu looked worth eating. The burger came on a very basic sesame bun which was clearly the cheapest in the shop. Burger itself was OK as were chips but the peas were overlooked and cheapest available. There was a whole tomato that looke less than appetising as well. Where the mediocrity really excelled was in the desert, sticky toffee pudding with supposedly excellent custard. What came was a plastic pot shaped pudding that was unbelievably bland with a lake of yellow sweet liquid that bore less resemblance to custard than if they had heated up piccalilli. Overall the desert was truly hideous. Never ever again is all I can say, the lack of any other eating places locally means they wont get any more hotel business from me either.

£45 for a night's B &B on the outskirts of Norwich, what's not to like. The building is more modern than many of the other Best Western hotels we have stayed in, but the quality equally as good. A warm comfortable room was needed after a days shopping in the city and that's what we got. We didn't have an evening meal at the hotel, choosing instead to eat at the carvery across the road. Breakfast, however, was hot and tasty, dishes regularly replenished and food not left to go dry sitting under the heat lamps. Be aware though that the staff will start to clear away dead on 10 o'clock so don't leave it to the last minute to go down

We booked our Christmas party at the Brook. The table was laid with strung balloons, long with balloons you could also blow up and then let go to whizz around the room there was glitter, Christmas napkins and crackers, it looked lovely. The food had to be pre ordered but that was not a problem for the 27 people in our party. The food was adequate, it was hot and the serving staff were very friendly and cleaned the tables in-between courses with efficiency. They cleaned the table when we had all finished even clearing away our secret Santa wrapping paper. The DJ was good and we danced the night away to various music from different generations of course including some Christmas tunes.Overall it was a fab night, one to remember.

The desert was Eton mess once again not much on your plate, the evening food was sandwiches pizza etc, some of the sandwiches did not have much filling in them and my mum paid extra for more food, also my daughter ice cream was drop in her lap by of of the waitress, lucky now mess as we came from Peterborough. The Brooke is not a pretty place but the chef sure knows how to cook a Sunday Lunch! This is not haute cuisine it is good wholesome, homely food. With a choice of 3 joints with all the trimmings, a vegetarian option and then more vegetables that you would every consider cooking at home - the Brook Hotel is a great option for a family lunch as everyone can select the perfect lunch for them. I have been a number of times and always find the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The meal is delicious and you cannot better value for money. We had a family group of 20 for an 18th birthday celebration there, the carvery being everyone's choice. The carvery was £7.95 and an additional £2 for starters and desserts (excellent value). All of the staff without exception were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food was hot and tasty with a good selection of juicy meats and fresh vegetables, the curly kale was spot on. I normally don't like to have carvery when I go out as I don't think anything can beat a home cooked Sunday roast but this was as good as it gets for me.The day was made by the staff though, I really can't praise them enough, what a lovely afternoon. We enjoyed a family get-together in a large group on a Sunday shortly before Christmas, most of us taking the carvery option. The venue was a little dated and showing signs of needing a bit of modernisation, and it was far from full. Staff were friendly, attentive and very keen to please. The food was a basic roast for most of the group and more individual options for a few. There was a minimal delay between the serving times for each choice, so those with the roast were able to eat at the same time as those making more individual choices. The food was standard fare, but fair value. The sweets were of a similar standard, though we got the impression that the Chef regretted that more of us didn't pick the Christmas pudding. It was standard fare, but nothing special, though the staff did their best to make certain it was as good an experience as possible.

We stayed for a week at the Brook Hotel and on the first night my wife thought she would find it difficult to choose something she liked because many dishes seemed to be quite spicy. However it is possible to choose from either the Bar Menu or the Restaurant Menu in either location. They will even provide dishes not on the menu if the ingredients are to hand. The service is excellent, even when there are coach parties or weddings. The standard menu has plenty of choice for both starter and main courses, and the sweet menu changes from day to day. There is an extensive wine list and the usual wines by the glass, at reasonable prices.

As some of your may realise, I have reviewed the Brook Hotel in Norwich at least twice before. They hosted our wedding reception, which warranted a review for the care they took during the planning and another review for how beautiful the event itself was. We also returned for a Valentines meal since then. This review is for a Sunday afternoon carvery meal that we enjoyed recently with my parents. My parents are both 70 this year, one in February and one in April, so we decided to take them for Sunday lunch on the weekend closest to both dates (IE right in the middle). We had planned to get there before my parents and my brother, so we could decorate the table with balloons and those annoying little foil confetti type sprinkles that get everywhere. Unfortunately, my brother and parents were early and got there first. We phoned ahead and explained so that Dawn and her team could spirit us into the restaurant via the staff entrance, so not having to walk through reception and pass where they were sat at the bar. Then the waitress (who remembered us from waiting on us at the wedding 5 months earlier) took command, getting our balloons blown up with hellium and sorting out the hiding of the cake, so we could go and sit with our party, before moving into the restaurant. The look on my parents faces was worth the effort. We gave my Mum some flowers, which the waitress quickly placed in a glass of water, when we went up to the carvery to get our food. It is worth mentioning that the entire team at this hotel pride themselves in taking care of the guests. They are really a credit to the management and the management obviously return this dedication as everybody seems to really take pride and enjoy working here. The chef at the carvery was most jovial and offered us a wide range. There was a choice of 3 meats, fish, chicken pie and a vegatarian bake. The range of food was just right, not too expansive, but not too limited, as it has been at some other premium restaurant carveries I've experienced. The food was all prepared perfectly (which is something else that is tricky with carvery dinners) and everybody was able to have exactly what they wanted. We had a very enjoyable lunch for less than £10 a head, including drinks (mainly soft drinks) and, as always, I couldn't recommend the Brook Hotel highly enough.

Not wishing to try one of our usual carvery's we opted to give e Brook Hotel Carvery a try. It is usually well advertised in the local paper and this s the first time we have had a chance to visit it. Knowing how busy carvery's can be at lunchtime we went at about 4.30pm (they close at 6pm)We we greeted by a friendly member of staff who allowed us to choose our table. The restaurant only had a few diners, and we were concerned that maybe it was not going to be that good due to lack of clientele. After ordering drinks we went up to the carvery and waited for e chef to come out, after a few minutes he appeared and uncovered the foil covered meats. The choices were turkey, gammon and beef, all of which looked decent cuts of meat. My test of a good carvery is always go for the beef and see how tender it is, so we both opted for the beef. To complement the meat there was a good selection of roast and new potatoes, nice large crispyyorkshire puddings, peas, sweet corn, carrots, red cabbage, and the disappointing cauliflower cheese (it was quite watery as was the gravy)The meat was perfect, I wouldnt say a very generous portion but sufficient for us, no fatty or tough bits, it fell apart as it was cut. The veg was well cooked (not overcooked) For only £11.95 this was a great value meal.To finish off we took advantage of the 2 for 1 (£4.25) desert menu offering a choice of lemon cheesecake, gateau, choc fudge cake, key lime pie, plus a few others. If you want a scoop of iecream with your desert it is an extra £1 which you might need as there is no cream on offer. In total we spent £22 for a carvery, desert and drinks for 2, in my books that is awesome value and we shall most certainly go again.

Plenty of staff to clean the floor and tables yet this has not been done. Coffee was very tasteless and overly milky, would even say a tad sour, an overpriced experience. Sat near the back kitchen and a slightly eggy smell is wafting into the seating area which just adds to the grubby feel in this place.
