Brohmon in Uttlesford

Our first visit. Greeted warmly on arrival and given a complimentary drink and appetiser. Our host talked us through the choice of food on the menu and also the specials of the day. We elected to share the starters and left it to our host to choose a suitable selection. The four of us then selected our main course and side dishes where appropriate. The food was served on hot plates and arrived piping hot. All four of us enjoyed the meal. Whilst none of us were vegans we noticed that there was a good selection for those who are. We will certainly visit again.

Nestled in the little village of Stansted Mountfitchet, Brohmon presents a tasty and welcoming gastronomic adventure. I was really looking forward to this meal as I've heard quite a lot of impressive comments. We booked a table for dinner and our dinner began with some quite remarkable appetisers. A standout was the vegan and gluten-free chot potti, which consists of brown chickpeas, potatoes, and a tart tamarind sauce and is brilliantly garnished with onions and coriander. The homemade ginger ale with gin was a cool choice that matched the spiciness of the meal to wash it down. The roasted peppers were another standout since they gave the dinner a great smokey touch. The basic courses lived up. The lamb dishes—one served with Japanese udon and the other with curry—were outstanding; the servings were really huge. These aren't on the menu though so make sure to ask the owner, Karim, so you would not miss these interesting dishes. The restaurant also surprised us with free side dishes of lemon achar and aloo tikia, which gave the dinner still another level of complexity. Ultimately, the salted caramel ice cream left us quite happy since it had the ideal mix of sweetness and saltiness, leaving a lasting impression. Not just for the great cuisine, but also for the kind hospitality that makes you feel like a valued guest, Brohmon is restaurant that I strongly recommend. This is a dining experience that you need to try since it offers wonderful a cuisine together with hospitality that makes you feel at home.

Well done Karim, yet another first class meal! We collected our takeaway this evening, having ordered by phone. All the food was well packaged and piping hot, and of course, delicious!!!! Well worth the money. We have just made a managerial decision that we shall try to have a meal either in house or as a takeaway from Brohmon at least once a month. The village would be a poorer place without Karim and his team.

First time trying Bromham (Takeaway). Have recently moved to the area. Used to have a great Indian Restaurant on our doorstep in our previous area: emperor of india, maidenhead. All of the dishes we ordered from Bromham were excellent. This is the best Indian in the area for sure. We will be back, and recommend to our neighbours. thanks

First time trying Bromham. Got recommended by a freind, and we needed a change, from the couple of good indians in our area, and the terrible food hygiene no2 Radhuni in Newport! Very polite and informative on the phone. I was just grabbing a takeaway to try it out. Food was the freshest, hottest and well portioned indian takeaway we have had in a long time. They even threw in a 'suprise' tray which was nice for dipping our poppadoms in. 100% worth the try and this will probly be our go to indian takeaway now! Very pleased. Thankyou Bromham

This restaurant is amazing! An absolute gem and not like your average Indian restaurant at all - don't expect Chicken Tikka Masala but order and enjoy something much better. The quality of the experience begins when you sit down at your table with a fresh cotton tablecloths, folded cotton napkins and adorned with fresh flowers in a vase. Run by the lovely, and so hospitable, owner Karim, the restaurant offers unusual and, from our experience, delicious dishes. We worked our way through the menu and enjoyed every course, each dish clearly containing fresh ingredients. I'd describe this as a "destination restaurant" and worth driving to! Parking is free in the village car park after 6pm and the railway station is nearby too. This restaurant was recommended to us and, although not local to where we live, we'll definitely be back. It's unique and a real find. Tip: leave room for a pudding! Thank you Karim.

Well presented, cooked and flavoursome cuisine from Karim and his team. Great use of fresh local ingredients in an authentic rustic Bangladeshi context. Very enjoyable evening and nice talking with Karim through out the evening about the menu and the sourcing of ingredients.

We had a great time here. The waiting team and the chef clearly took so much pride in their work. The menu was interesting, the quality of the ingredients excellent and the food was delicious. Everything was freshly made from the curries to the variety of breads. We were staying near Stansted before a morning flight and this place provided a great option, being only 10 minutes away.

Staying for a few days at Rickling Green, a local lady suggested we visited Brohmon. Well, this restaurant is a real gem, great hospitality thanks to Karim, a bright modern comfortable venue and the food, well, simply stunning in so many ways. This is not your everyday Indian restaurant, this is the highest quality ‘home cooked’ food with flavours you may well not have experienced before but you do not want to miss. An evening spent with two mates here was a food adventure and an experience, not just a quick meal. The portions are just right, the presentation is as good as any top end restaurant I’ve ever visited and overall, well, I highly recommend a meal here. Karim, thank you, we will be back!

Excellent, fresh, authentic food. We were served an aperitif of ginger cocktail, an amuse bouche with black chickpeas AND a delicious fresh dahl and those were not even what we ordered. The food here is delicious and fresh and not just an ordinary Indian restaurant. Amazing

Yet another enjoyable evening spent in the company of Karim and his wonderful cooking. The welcome is warm, the food is divine. Karim is very passionate about food and this is eminently obvious in both presentation and flavours of the food he cooks. We were treated to aperitifs upon arrival, and little taster dishes besides what we had ordered. All dishes are reasonably priced and have a greater feeling of authenticity than any other Indian restaurant we have visited. Two of us had the goat curry which was a "special" last night. It was delicious, the meat was so tender and tasty. It's easy to see why Karim and his restaurant keep winning awards!!! Thank you Karim from Gill, Colin and Jason.

Great and really authentic meal. I loved that the food was as far as possible sources from local producers, great value for money, really friendly service and the good was incredible. If your after popadums, loads of salt and ghee in your Indian food then you aren't going to get it here. If however you want to try something genuinely authentic and full of flavour this is the place! The menu is small and simple, which is actually very reassuring. Everything is done properly and to an incredibly high standard. It's actually amazing that the prices are so reasonable. Seriously give it a try. If I was more local this would be my regular eat in/take away go to. Highly recommend.

Myself and 3 girl friends went for dinner and had such a lovely meal. Food was wonderful and authentic with lovely touches and so reasonable. Service was so personal. This is a business that must be supported as such an asset to the local area. Thank you Karim for looking after us.

I rarely put much stock in Trip Advisor reviews but was genuinely intrigued when I took a closer look at Brohmon’s website and saw that the menu offered a plethora of options that wouldn’t exactly be considered standard fare in a typical Indian. On arriving, we were not disappointed. The menu is geared towards the more adventurous diner but those looking for a more ‘standard Indian’ will be absolutely fine. My son demolished their tandoori chicken with no issue. Staff took the time to explain the menu options which included some very nice vegetarian dishes. My understanding is that the food is based on Bengali cuisine meaning there are an excellent array of fish options which I partook in. Again, those more inclined to meat will be absolutely fine. Quality and presentation was top notch. We were also treated to surprise elements between courses (think amuse-bouche without the pretence) which, given the very reasonable price, really ups the ante in terms of value and experience. My only very thin criticism would be that it did feel slightly cramped, but I would stress that given the excellent value for money and the superb efforts of the staff to make the guests experience as comfortable as possible, this is far from a problem. As a local I will certainly be going back. This restaurant is a real asset to the locality and something I look forward to supporting. Who knows, maybe a Michelin Star is on the cards? I, for one, would not be surprised.

We visited here for our 14th wedding anniversary with our son (who is the most fussiest eater ever). We were met by a massive smile from the owner Kareem who asked us all what our individual names were. He engaged in conversation with us and it felt like such a personalised personal service. He went over and beyond to make our night special. He recommed a great local alcohol free beer which we absolutely love. He then introduced one of the specials which was Goat Curry, which was phenomenal!! It was so tender and cooked to perfection. We also had the Lamb which again was like the flavours were dancing on our tounge. Everything about our night was perfect and we cannot wait till our next visit! No wonder this restaurant has been named best in the whole of Essex. Cannot recommend enough! Best Bengali food I've ever tasted. 1 million percent recommend and if you haven't been, get yourself down there ASAP!! Thank you soo much again Kareem 😀

I went to this amazing restaurant last night with my partner. From the minute we walked in we were made so welcome by Karim, the owner. The restaurant is spotlessly clean with beautiful white linen tablecloths. When we sat at the table, Karim gave us an amazing gin and ginger drink and a mushroom dish to try. Both delicious! The food was out-of-this-world fantastic. My lamb chops starter was superb, as was my duck leg main dish. The meat fell off the bone. The side dishes were equally wonderful; the peppers dish and cabbage dish were lovely. My partner is vegetarian and said his dishes were just as wonderful. I finished my meal with a beautiful hot carrot and cream dessert that had blueberries and sultanas in it. Sublime. We had a pot of masala tea to finish. The food was so good that you wanted to eat it all slowly to savour all the beautiful and unique flavours. Unfortunately I was driving as I would have had some wine and one of Karim’s cocktails - next time we go we will get a taxi so I don’t have to worry about driving home. Without a doubt the food last night was the finest Indian food we have ever had. It is great to know that we have a restaurant of this quality so close to home. Forget your normal run-of-the-mill Indian restaurants, Brohmon’s is on an entirely different level. It so good that it should have Michelin stars. Thanks Karim, we will be back soon!

It's hard to praise this place enough. The service and food are top notch. The vegetarian offerings are tasty and spicy without being overpowering, enabling appreciation of the subtler flavours in the dish. The prices are reasonable. Superb.

Delicious flavoursome and healthy food accompanied by excellent friendly service. The chicken was beautifully tender and the flavours absolutely devine. Portion sizes are generous but not excessive and it's nice to finish an "Indian" meal without being bloated from too many poppadoms and Naan bread!
