Staff were quite aloof and curt with us. No welcome or ‘how was everything’. We were in as a party of 6 with two children and had food and drinks. We were reminded on three occasions that the table was needed back by a certain time. The staff gave off a kind of negative hipster stereotype vibe that makes me avoid certain spots. I spent 7 years working in city centre and west end bars and that experience has given me enough perspective to realise that people don’t need to tolerate that lame attitude.

We went during the day for lunch. The food was really good, it was typical pub grub. Burgers, scampi and chips, that kind of thing. They have a kids menu too. Lovely atmosphere. It's the type of place that would be nice to sit in and relax with some nice food and drinks for a few hours. Dog friendly. As soon as we arrived they brought a bowl of water and some treats over for the dog.

Absolutely aweful experience. From service to food. Food not as described on menu. Smothered in sweet chili sauce that was so overly sweet. This was NOT a korean sauce and the "sticky" rice was bog standard regular basmati rice. Prawn started smothered in the same terrible sauce and deep fried prebattered tiny prawns from a packed. Same for the squid. Nothing fresh about the dishes. Flavours not balanced. Overpriced for something I could knock together in 15mins and do a far better job. Waited nearly an hour for food I couldnt finish. Service was rude and not emphatic to the feedback. No apology. Previously, I witnessed her being incredibly passive aggressive to another member of staff who made a genuine error. Get your act together. Use to like comeing here for a pint on a nice day and enjoying their great location. Me and my mates are goin elsewhere. Terrible way to do business. I hope the owner sees this and takes responsibility.

The staff was very nice, but the same cannot be said about the food. The haggis was too salty, and the veggie korean chicken was simply supermarket quorn nuggets covered in chilli sauce on top of basmati rice, and a salad with lettuce and tomato. Yes, lettuce and tomato. It is incredible how someone can mix so many asian cuisines in one plate, and still manage not to use a single korean ingredient, which gives name to the dish. The best thing about this place is that it is the only place that served food after 9pm on that road. I would never leave the house to go out.

Decided on Brodies for a few drinks and a bite to eat. Had a few drinks in the bar before moving to restaurant area for food. Hubby got a bacon cheeseburger & chips (£16) which was a good portion size and delicious. I opted for a veggie curry (£15 on Specials board). When the curry arrived and we were asked if we wanted anything more, my immediate thought was ‘more curry!’ The bowl was only a third full, whereas the rice (in the same type bowl) was overflowing. This dish is also served with a large bread wrap. The curry was delicious but suffice to say more than half a bowl of rice and 2/3 of bread wasn’t eaten as there was not enough of the curry to soak it up! I did express my disappointment to the waitress and she said she’d informed chef. Sadly, no further response or reaction to this. At 15 quid, I’d say this is definitely overpriced! On this, prepare for random steep pricing. A pint of Tennents is around £4.65 which hubby says is reasonable, but £3 for a can of Coke!!! The location and atmosphere are good but mind and bring your big purse if you visit. And, if opting for the special veggie curry, prepare yourself for more generous serving of accompaniments than the actual dish.

Seems to be a wee bit of a theme developing here. My buddies & I had a similar experience to the reviewer below. Enjoying the rare September mini-heatwave outside but our afternoon took a downturn when we went in to order lunch. We too, we're refused a tab in case we "ran away" (three men with a combined age of 201 - and two good knees between the three of us....). The barman was pleasant & apologetic, but the torn-faced blond barmaid who felt it necessary to interject had a very unpleasant & sarcastic demeanour, loudly snapping "that's the way it is & we're no' changing it for anybody". Needlessly aggressive - so we also nicked over to the Stag & Thistle across the road & had a terrific lunch serve by very pleasant people - who automatically started a tab without asking and guess what - we settled added a £20 tip to the £118 tab - and didnae run (or even hobble) away. Too many good, customer focused pubs in the area to give this place the time of day again......

One of the rudest restaurant experiences I've ever had. My friends and I visited Brodies last Saturday in the late afternoon after a walk around the local area. We went into Brodies after 5pm, where the bar/restaurant was only around 20% full (if even that). The lovely staff member who greeted us said, because it was so quiet, we could have any table we like, as long as we vacated by 19:30. We explained we would only be in for around 30-45 minutes and that we were just in for one drink as we were just wrapping up our day, which she said was fine. The staff member happened to point out one booth in particular near the door, so we sat here. The bartender gave us our drinks, and was also pleasant. However, around 30/40 minutes later, a different staff member (female, light blonde/white hair - unsure of name) came over to the table and asked if we would like another drink. We said that we were fine as we were heading soon. She did not reply, and lingered for a few seconds, but then left - we didn't think anything more of it at the time. A few minutes later, this same staff member (likely a manager if I were to make a guess) MARCHED up to our table and rudely interrupted our conversation to say "guys if you're not having any more drinks, then I'm going to have to ask you to leave as you're taking up this table" in quite a rude and abrupt manner. The tone, the attitude and the march over to the table were not necessary. We were not sat there for hours (and even if we were - this is not how you treat anybody). We were there less than an hour, and even then - we were told the table was free until 19:30 (it was not even 18:00 at this point). To add insult to injury, after leaving, we noticed half of the restaurant had free tables. So the issue was not us taking up a booth / table, or that it needed to be cleared for another group - her issue was clearly just that we weren't ordering a second round of drinks within a time frame acceptable only to her - because otherwise, she would have said "hey guys, we need this table for another group, but there are other tables available". If we were staying longer, we would have more drinks. Having said that, even if we weren't, we stated clearly upon entry that we were just wanting one drink and we were just finishing our catch up, and this was deemed fine and that no tables were required until 19:30. If there was any issue, this should have stated to us upon entry, and without being snapped at by a rude manager before 18:00 (an hour and a half before the tables were needed). In fact, the staff member that welcomed us reassured us that there was no rush, and we could take our time and just relax and chill. It's a shame that this staff member, as well as the bartender, were so warm and welcoming as well as friendly – as the last staff member (again, we presume a manager) badly let them all down as well as the establishment. It was appalling behaviour - and even more shocking if it turns out, as we suspect, that she is one of the managers or team leaders. Horrible, horrible attitude and a complete failure in customer service skills 101. I will not be visiting Brodies again, nor recommending it to anyone (in fact, I'll be telling people to steer well clear). Extremely disappointing.

I don't normally write reviews & certainly not poor ones as I try to support local business. However, our experience fell far below expectation. The service was dire, long wait to be served, no salt/pepper at/brought to the table, no checking in to see how the meals were received nor asking if we enjoyed our meal at the end, staff continually chatting at bar and ignoring their customers. My meal was nice, but my family member classed her meal as 'a dogs dinner' and had to move the plate away due to the foul smell. I see reading the other reviews that this has happened many times before to other people and wish I had read the reviews before I went as it ruined a family get together. We had made it clear at the sitting that we intended two courses but there was no follow up for dessert. We ended up requesting the bill and left. It was so disappointing, significantly overpriced for quality, and we do not intend to return nor could we in honesty recommend it.

I will never be back. I visited here on an impromptu basis with 3 friends, my husband and 3 children (a 6 and 5 year old and 18 month old) on a Friday evening, around 6pm for a couple of drinks. As the sun was shining, we sat outside, however as is typical in Scotland, the heavens opened and we sought shelter indoors. This is where it all went wrong. We sat down (it was approximately 6.45pm at this point) and decided to order some food for the children. The waitress communicated in a very blunt and hostile manner that as we had children with us we must vacate the premises by 8pm. We entirely understand that there are rules regarding minors in licensed premises however the way in which this was communicated was unfortunately very unfriendly to say the least. Our children were then treated as a complete nuisance for the next hour - they were actually quite well-behaved... There was one staff member in particular who had a bad attitude but there was a general vibe about this place and there were no other children present - this should have been a clear sign. In fairness, the two young men behind the bar were very friendly, as has been the case in the past. If you have a dog then you will be made welcome here. Parents of human children should avoid. I was the only Glaswegian present in the group (my husband is French and our friends are Spanish, although all have been living in Glasgow for 10+ years) and I felt embarrassed that this is how we were treated in my home city. If you live in/are visiting the Southside with children then I would recommend Church on the Hill and Oro.

Really lovely atmosphere, even on a Thursday afternoon. Went there for a pint after my cousin's funeral, as it was his favourite pub. I can see why he liked it so much. Prices are fair, and the servers are very kind. I knocked 3 separate drinks over during my visit, and no fuss or anger from the staff, they just handed me a roll of paper towels. As a clumsy person I can appreciate that! Wholeheartedly recommend this place!

Slow service, not as cheap as advertised, The only good thing about the place is atmosphere.
