Waiting for 30 min to take a seat and then 30 min for food and yet watching whilst unmotivated staff move slower than a tortoise to do anything. Tables that could be cleared are stood next to by staff or walked past at excruciatingly slow speeds. Everyone speaks slowly and moves so slowly. You don’t mind waiting if you can see people trying. This place offers so much promise but this is a management issue resolved with staff training and setting some customer service standards. A quick fix or this place will sadly fail.

Simply Outstanding! We popped into the new Brocksbushes on our journey South and were impressed from start to finish. We opted for breakfast which was extremely tasty and great value for money, the new restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were extremely helpful and attentive. The farm shop and play barn are beautifully done and we can’t wait to go back again soon! Looking forward to getting stuck in to some of the tasty treats we picked up!

Lovely place, farm shop is lovely visited the new play barn with my son which is fantastic he had so much fun after a visit to the play barn we went to the courtyard kitchen which was a lovely setting staff were friendly we were seated to a table. We opted for coronation chicken jacket potato and pie and chips. Both dishes were absolutely lovely but I have to say I do think they are overpriced slightly for the portion size espically the jacket potato which was £10 and the pie was £14.

Used to go regular as was a favourite coffee stop, but they are building a huge new place on site,a new restaurant, shop etc,and I know how they are getting their extra cash !! The prices now are crazy ! They have just priced themselves out of the market as far as we are concerned, won't be back again, and the menu is very poor ,service likewise, but staff still friendly. So goodbye to Brocksbushes.

Called in on spec as we had not prebooked but had no problem gaining admission. The web site did actually state low availability but there was plenty of space in the fields when we were there together with an abundant supply of top class strawberries to pick so no issues on that count. The cost of the produce is around £6.50/kg which in our opinion is very good value for money in order to select fresh produce direct from the field. However what does require answering is why it is necessary to pay £2 per person in order to simply enter the fields. I can appreciate the need for a booking system but not to be charged for the pleasure of picking the fruit. A nominal charge for adults only could be acceptable . If a family of 5 attend (2 adults and three small children aged 4,6,8) then that’s £10 before you start - plus an extra 50p to book on line. I did attempt to seek clarification from staff as to why charges were imposed on small children who would perhaps be too young to understand the concept of what they were doing - but to no avail. Perhaps as you can test some of the produce whilst in the fields it is felt that a charge should be imposed for that reason. Thus the produce cost of £6.50/kg is inflated by this additional charge which in our opinion is just a means of fleecing the customers. In all a good experience, especially for youngsters but I would really like an explanation from staff at the centre why it’s necessary to impose extortionate fees simply to enter the fields to pick the produce

As ever the fruit picking was excellent. Quite hard work in the sunshine but overall good value. The cafe is a slightly different experience. It was full by 12.20 and there was a further 30 minute wait even after seated at a table. We were at least warned of this delay but the premises do need expanding and I believe this is underway. We therefore decided to buy lunch from the farm shop and this was much better value. The sandwiches in the cafe were more or less a frightening £8 each. Thankfully there was an excellent generous slice of feta and beetroot quiche (£3) plus a hefty portion of chocolate cake for even less. The overall clientele at the farm is a mixture of grandparents/parents with small children, pensioner couples and ladies who lunch powered there from the Shires by BMWs.

First time visiting…last time we will visit. Firstly, upon arrival we noticed the farm shop looked similar to a neglected garden shed. No hello or greeting from any staff members. We went to the tearooms for some lunch. Again, no greeting from anyone. The cafe itself didn’t even have lights on. The menu had limited choice unless you were eating from the kids menu. Once we had ordered we were immediately asked to pay - something very unusual nowadays and always a red flag. Food arrived and was not worth what we had just paid. One pot of tea barely had enough in for one full cup, if you even wanted to drink out of your cup as the ones we were given clearly hadn’t been washed and were dirty. One of the items was a sausage sizzler, and in this case size does matter, as the panini was no bigger than a deck of cards. Apparently cutlery was a novelty as we had to repeatedly ask for a spoon for the soup we had ordered. Food was not worth the money. Service was severely lacking. Atmosphere was awful. I wouldn’t recommend this place, unless it was to someone I extremely disliked.

Have visited several times in the past. I noticed that the prices have increased. There was no sign that the cafe was open. Walked past several buckets collecting rain water from the leaking roof. Wires everywhere, it didn't seem very safe! We entered the cafe and I was trying to show my autistic son the pies that were available in the fridge. We were abruptly told to take a seat and pointed to a table. We ordered and paid immediately as asked. The drinks and cutlery were plonked on our table without any interaction at all. When my sons food arrived (chicken and leek pie) as the waitress handed it over I saw a hair in his food. The waitress took it away, 5 minutes later she came back and gave him what she said was a fresh meal. She said sorry but that was it, not really genuine. Luckily my son had not been put off by this, which I was surprised about. Nobody was interested if everything was OK with our food or anything. Once you have paid that is it. Plenty more places to go in the future!

So unwelcoming, stopped off on our way back from the lakes to grab a coffee and have a little break from driving. My pregnant girlfriend spent money in the shop on fruit etc and then 2 coffee's to sit outside. She asked if she could use the toilets and was refused as it was for tea room customers only. Shop assistant appeared to be disinterested and it was a burden to do her job and serve the customers. Then to top it off the strawberries bought from shop aren't picked from site.

After one hour of fruit picking we relaxed in hand very busy tea room. Slight delay in having the order taken. When it was - on a very efficient tablet system - I had to pay immediately. This seems to be par for the course in some establishments, but felt a trifle strange. The restaurant is spacious and pleasant. Service is smiley, the younger ones take the order and older ones deliver the food. Toasted sandwiches were very filling and the small side salad nicely drizzled. The attached farm shop is well stocked and very up market. Don’t sense a credit crunch around here.

Never been so disappointed!! To start its looks like a scruffy old allotment building and the leaky roof with electric wires tacked to it was a little concerning, got seated quickly, menu limited can see why they take payment when you order makes you less likely to complain and just leave feeling robbed. However taking money off people when you don’t have their order is unacceptable as happened to next table they had to get a refund straight away- lucky for them 😊 ours arrived service poor waitress just just dumped tray on table no ate or to off load cutlery or drinks. Food horrible - toastie greasy cheese, basic bread not what you’d expect in a farm shop cafe, salad dressing very acidic, crisps about 6, sausage sizzle panini same horrid cheap cheese, nasty chemical tasting chutney. Staff curt, no interaction with guests no standard check back to see if everything was ok, probably avoiding the negative responses. Won’t be back, wouldn’t recommend unless I disliked the person intensely and now have a list of people whose judgement I no longer trust.

Visited on the 23rd of December just to see santa. It was a brilliant experience for our children. We were met by a cheery elf (didn't catch her name but she was jolly and friendly) and Santa spent about 15 minutes talking to our children, unlike some places where you feel like you are being rushed out ready for the next child. You also get reindeer food and a 'grow you own Christmas tree' as well as the present (modelling clay in our case)It was quite a long wait to see Santa, would recommend pre booking and getting there about half an hour before your time slot. The shop had some really nice Christmas decorations for sale and the toilets were clean (didn't eat in cafe so can't comment on this, though it was very busy at 1pm).

It has been a while since I have visited Brockbushes farm shop and restaurant . It is situated on the A69 approx 3 miles from the historical town of Corbridge. In the summer months this is a great place to go strawberry and fresh fruit picking . The cafe serves a fine selection of homemade cakes and scones. You can also chose from a range of daily specials like soup and toasted sandwiches. They also serve Gluten Free bread and cakes for those who follow a gluten free diet. The majority of staff are very friendly especially the younger members of the team however I feel the more senior members of the serving staff require further customer service training. While the premises are very clean the pine tables and pine chairs now look rather dated. The use of a simple white tablecloth and cushions plus fresh flowers on the tables would greatly improve the eating experience. All in all, the food served here is of a good standard although waiting times can be a little long. With a little more imagination from management , staff training and a minor refurbishment to tables and chairs this establishment could greatly improve.

I wasn't able to visit the restaurant or the Christmas Fayre on Sunday15th November as the car parking facilities were dire. When we first arrived a man was directing traffic along the road. We ended up going out the exit as no spaces were available. On the way out we noticed a field with cars parked and plenty of space. On entering Brocksushes for the second time we asked the person directing traffic how to get to the field. All he said was we would have to wait for a car leaving before we could get a space. So we continued along the way he was indicating and found ourselves going out of the exit again. It would have been helpful to have a sign before the entrance to say the car park was full. Normally place with events have a few different people who direct cars to available spaces. I have gone to their Christmas Fayre every year but won't even attempt to go next year. There are plenty other events to visit.

As I had to go as a parent, and didn't want a pumpkin, I wasn't expecting to have to pay for me, as this is a kids event. However, on arrival I was told that I would need to pay £5 too to ride the 'tractor'! Fair enough, a nominal charge to cover costs would be fine, but £5 for a short tractor ride is a bit steep, I didn't even get a pumpkin!!. Kids need to be well wrapped up as exposed to the elements, sang songs and helped the good witch get rid of the bad witch. It is purely for kids, just a bit peeved why the adults have to pay the same to supervise! Won't be going back.

We have been to Brockbrushes a number of times over the years and have always enjoyed the food. However, on the last two visits we have noticed a decline in the standard of food in the cafe with the new owners. Visited in August after a day out. Four/five members of staff in cafe were busy behind counter moving cakes etc around the display cabinet, but no-one available to clear the tables. After waiting for a while I went to the counter to give my order only to be told someone would come to the table to take it. Waitress came with our order and put the tray on the table and walked off. My daughter ordered a trifle and it was just a great blob of mess. The fresh fruit was OK but she left the rest. My 'homemade' scone was rubbery and had no taste but it did stick to the roof of my mouth. Didn't finish it either. Tea was OK but coffee was not finished. Vowed never to go back.Next time I'm in the area I will drive another 5 minutes into Corbridge and go to one of the many lovely tea rooms there. Play area is sad.

Just why I was persuaded to visit here for coffee is anyone's guess after experiencing the WORST cappuccino ever a while ago. But, hang on..the newly displayed signs in the car park of "Pelican" brand Italian coffee with pictures of beautifully frothed latte in posh cups would be enough to persuade anyone. So, in we went to order which was a debacle in itself. We all sat in the area inside which is just before the main cafe doors and I went up to the counter to be met by a frosty faced girl who told me I couldn't order there as I was sitting outside. I pointed out that we were INSIDE the same building under the roof but she waved at me to go and order at a till over in the shop.So I did. Only to be told they knew nothing about it. The only till to order from while you sit in this particular location was an unmanned one hidden beside a pillar. So, third time lucky and another thoroughly miserable woman took the order. It arrived at our table served by a young lad who looked as if he didn't want to be there either. Then there were no cups for the tea so had to seek those as well. The staff are generally so miserable here, at least in this cafe. And did the Pelican Italian coffee arrive as in the picture? No is the answer to that one. Coffee making is not rocket science but they still can't get it right here. It arrived in the same old cups resembling scalding tasteless froth less dishwater. So if that's the way you like it, you'll love it here! Never again.

We always visit when we go to Hexham and today dropped in on our way back. We have always had good food and so did not expect any different. Before ordering I visited the disabled toilet and I firmly believe if the toilets are kept clean this sets the standards. Today the toilet was seedy and ill kept the extractor fan (no windows so vital) was filthy and the rest of the facility was grubby. Would this set the tone I believed not and therefore we ordered our meals. Immediately what became apparent were the flies that were in abundance and this made us begin to think it was strange in October to see so many. There was an electric bug killer in the cafe but only one third was working - could this be the reason why we were continually buzzed by these pesky things and this was not conducive to looking forward to our meals. Anyhow the meals arrived and things just went from bad to worse the flies did I not desist and I began to fell decidedly queasy. Then just as I was about to take a bite of my sandwich a fly landed on it! I quickly put it down and then the fly proceeded to walk over the other half. That was enough and 95% of the sandwich went uneaten. When I paid the bill the waitress saw the uneaten sandwich and asked if everything was OK and I replied certainly not especially when the flies contaminated my meal. I expected in the very least an apology but there was nothing so we got up and left. Will we be going back, will we recommend it most certainly not! We will have to look for another place to stop off at.

A bit of a strange set up.Like a shack with style. The shop has quite a selection of foodstuffs which we have sampled in the past but rather pricey for the quality. Not a place where we would feel tempted to sample a cooked meal mainly because of the not so pleasant surroundings. The problem I have is with the actual place. Dirty, old, and worn out. Cheap dirty carpets, spiders and flies everywhere, tables worn then and desperately need a stain or varnish. Not good. Doesn't look good or at all appealing - sort it out. Charge that much and you need to think about reinvesting into the place. Wont be back until you clean the place up.

I have never complained about service in a restaurant or cafe before but today I did. After arriving at Brockbushes mid afternoon, we sat in the fairly busy cafeteria inside. 2 tables of people who came in after us were served before us. We ordered 2 sandwiches and two hot drinks. The hot drinks arrived 30 minutes later and 45 minutes after ordering we still did not have our sandwiches. I stood to go and ask someone what happened to our sandwiches but sat down again because my daughter, who is also a part-time waitress, felt awkward about the situation. However one of the waitresses saw this and went to see what had happened to our sandwiches. She immediately returned with them. When paying for the sandwiches I decided to mention what poor service we had received, something I have never done before. I made it clear to the permanent member of staff at the till that I didn't hold her personally responsible but I felt that Brockbushes should be aware of this poor service. She made the excuse that many of their weekend staff had gone off to uni and they had 5 new members of staff. There was no apology but she said that I could speak to her boss about it. I just asked her to pass on my views. I wasn't angling for a deduction in the bill. This was the first and last visit I will be paying to this establishment.

Conveniently located just off the A69 roundabout Brockbushes is primarily a PYO fruit farm but we needed a coffee stock. Having seen the homemade cakes on Twitter we were drawn to the cafe to taste them in person! The cafe is looking a bit tired and very cluttered but the cakes certainly didn't disappoint. A counter full of homemade cakes, gateaux, slices and traybakes. We picked which one we would have and then found a table. There's a hand written sign sayig it is table service which is a bit confusing as it is laid out for counter service and the sign is by the till rather than the door. You also need to stop at the counter to chose your cake so essentially you created a small queue before you found a table. However once we got seated we were served straight away by a waitress but then it seemed to take forever for our order to come. There were plenty of staff behind the counter and lots of orders being laid out on trays but it must have taken over 10 minutes to make 2 hot drinks and cut two slices of cake. None of the staff seemed to have a designated task so everyone was bimbling about on all of the orders. It pained me to see as I used to be a restaurant manager and front of house always works well if everyone has designated jobs and then extra flexibility if someone gets swamped. When we got our order and tasted our cakes they were to die for. Each slice was so large it could have fed a small family and they were mosit and tasty. In fact the cakes were so huge we actually skipped lunch that day as we were so full! Oh and each slice was only about £2.50 which is stunning value for the size of the portion. It would be perfect if they could give good table service or run a counter service swiftly.

Friendly staff serve good home-cooked food at this large PYO, farm shop/cafe. Nice outside sitting area looking out over fruit fields where you can pick-your-own. Lots of events and activities throughout the year means the place is always evolving and up to date. Conveniently situated on roundabout on A69 near Corbridge.

I suppose it was the end of the day but entered into a tired looking restaurant in this farm shop to be greeted by a sign stating waitress service, please take a seat. We sat at a table and did not have a menu so had no idea of what was to eat. The waiting staff were numerous but more interested in setting tables and clearing away for the day rather than meet and greet new customers. Eventually a member of staff wondered over and stated 'oh you don't have a menu' and then presented us with one menu between three of us which had seen better days if it were kicked around a school playing field. The staff member then left us to decide when we only required cake and tea. The cakes were home made and looked delicious. However the staff were still milling around us and ignoring our obvious signs of wanting to place an order. After five minutes a staff member wandered across, yawning and asked what we wanted to order. We placed our order of tea and cakes which she took without any eye contact or welcoming banter. About fifteen minutes later the same waitress came across with our order and 'dumped' the tray on our table and walked away so we had do disassemble the tray and put the tray on a seat next to us. Overall the food was good but the service needs to be rectified. The building and general decor is in need of the investment as it looked very tired ( as were the staff). This place needs to improve somewhat as this area lets the experience down. With investment in staff customer training and some work upgrading the decor and furnishings would reflect a better eating experience.

Visited the cafe last week about 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Still fairly busy. Girl on front counter friendly and helpful, waiting staff not so much. Good prices and tasty food - service (slow and not particularly good) let it down.

A good display of farm foods and deli type stuff - also wines. An adjoining café useful to have a rest during shopping. A good place to buy gifts - particularly in December I remember, when the displays are extended with the addition of marquees. Vast area of on site parking. Useful location adjacent to a roundabout on the A69.

plenty of parking, farm shop looks like it had a good range.£1 per person to go into picking fields, £1 refundable deposit for basket.Good signage telling you availability of different fruits before you pay to go into field and staff helpfully informative (was told which bits of field had had least traffic that day and that while we might have to rummage under leaves was still plenty strawberries ripe to pick. Was also told that because availability was limited we could mix fruit if we wanted for flat price)Picked 500g quite quickly - £2.05 and they tasted amazing : )Swing set for little kids, charge for bouncy castle and big inflatable slide (£2 for 5 slides)Daughter recommends the chocolate ice cream (from local ice cream maker)

I visited this place 8 weeks ago and was surprised how rude the restaurant staff were, but I thought rather foolishly that it may have been a one off so decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and paid them another visit. It would be fair to say the woman in charge of the restaurant till must have had a charisma bypass and was truly the most obnoxious person I have come across for a very long time. The service was chaotic as there were 2 separate service points one for indoor dining and one for outdoor. The wait for our food order was interminable but the worst was yet to come.Just before leaving I decided to visit the ladies. Whilst I was washing my hands one of the kitchen staff, still wearing her apron, came in with a bucket of water an said "which one's blocked" I could go on but I won't. Just to say I will never be going back to this establishment.

Visited today. My party spent over £20 on average food at high prices. The hot beef stottie came on a tiny plate with a sprinkling of the type of crisps at the bottom of a crushed bag, the most boring, small and unimaginative salad. It was obvious that the owners restrict the portions in order to maximise profit. It should have come with chips and say Coleslaw for the price. Th'dessert special' of a rubbarb custard flan was a small wedge on its own for £3, not even a small blob of cream or anything to liven it up. Overall its very ordinary fare and what's annoying is a decent chef worth his salt would not allow that. A place I will not be returning until the catering team sort things out.

Busy, in fact overwhelming in shop and cafe. Yet slow service did not help. Assistants were disinterested in our purchases and urge to hurry. The so called Northern friendliness was not apparent here, more a sort of snobby reluctance to help. The prices were extortionate, even compared to London. I guess here we are really captive as you are parked up and ready to spend money so they assume you have the time.

Very disorganised running of a sweet cafe. There appeared to be lots of staff running around, but no-one knew what anyone else was doing. One lady had to ask for the bill 3 times - eventually giving up and coming to the desk herself to try and pay. We waited ages to get served. As soon as we had there were then staff queuing up to try and take our order again. A waitress said grumpily that it may well be a 30 minute wait for food - a panini and scones. It turned out only to be a 10 minutes wait. Food was ok, but unfortunately clouded by the totally chaotic serving style. Shame.

I had purchased a voucher for the tea room which appeared to cause some confusion when I wanted to use the remaining balance to buy an ice cream but we got there in the end... They could do with working in the voucher process! The food was nice although dos take 45 minutes which for a toastie is a tad excessive but all in all it was a lovely afternoon out.

Visited here today and had the two course lunch special at £8 something per person. Pie, potatoes and peas were nice but just not worth the money. Decent slice of pie, 4 tiny potatoes, spoonful of peas. Took ages for food to arrive, other customers were complaining about this too. Lemon sponge/gateaux was the dessert. Won't be back as I just don't think it's worth the money for what you get or the surroundings. Also to buy for example, a slice of toffee meringue, they charge £4.10. You can buy a large whole one for £3.99 in the farm shop. That's some mark up!

Went to Brocksbushes for lunch for the first time today after shopping there for years. Had a really great experience with friendly staff. The waitress was lovely and completely accommodating when we chose to move outside. My Mam ordered the pulled pork, which they had unfortunately ran out of, but the chef came out personally to apologise which I thought was a lovely gesture. We stopped here on the way down from Scotland for a break. The coffee was frankly nasty and I foolishly chose the cheesecake. This sickly confection appeared to be a cheese free zone with a black cherry top which was gluey and tasteless and the bottom unpleasantly oily. The effect on my system is still with me two days later. There is a new system of waitress service but it is still slow. hopefully it will be better when they are used to it. I will not be returning to find out.

As I mentioned in a previous review, we have been coming here as a family for many years. We visited yesterday, and I stood in a (not very long ) queue for over 25mins before I was served. When our order was finally taken my toasted sandwich took a further 15 minutes, by which time my family's cold food which was given to me on the tray was all eaten, and the tea was all drunk. The food here is pretty good - the sandwich when it finally came was one of the best I've had, and the cakes are amongst the best you'll find anywhere. I have been here on a quiet day during a week when kids are at school etc - and it's fine. But on a bank holiday avoid this like the plague. There were plenty of tables and the queue wasn't long. The staff are just UNBELIEVABLY slow. I cannot recommend a visit until this is given attention. Prices are ok and yes it still needs sprucing up, but quite honestly I think they need to temporarily close and address these serious issues while they still have customers. Please if any management or staff are reading this - take note!! Read the other comments - I am not alone in this. The staff could be a bit more cheerful too!

Visited yesterday with my friend and her two small children, I won't be going back! The staff were rude when we ordered and after 40 minutes we still didn't have our food, I went up to the till (where I had to queue again) to let them know our food hadn't arrived, there was no apology from the lady on the till, she just looked at me and walked off into the kitchen. It turned out that our order had been lost so she did then say sorry and they would hurry it through. We were offered a free drink each while we waited which we accepted but it didn't arrive! Food did then come quickly, it was ok but nothing special. Overall, the staff don't seem to care what service they give and you almost feel like a nuisance for being there! I had heard bad reviews from friends and family but I do prefer to make my own judgement, turns out I should have listened to them.

Arrived at Brockbushes and headed straight for the cafe. When we reached the till, we were asked what table we were sat on....which we weren't because we were queing? When we told the assistant this we recieved a sarcastic reply about the sign beside the door on our way in. On further inspection, the sign instructing you to find a table and then come to the counter was small and partially obstructed. On a warm day, when you are not wearing a jacket, i find it insane that customers are expected to leave their bag to come to the till....i doubt they would take responsibility for stolen belongings. When you find a find a table, you expect a member of staff to come to you. Not the other way round. When we eventually ordered our food, our drinks were brought over. She asked why we hadnt collected a tray, uhm because YOU are bringing us the food, we don't have anything to put on a tray?....she then left and brought back a coaster each on an otherwise empty tray, I'm not sure why. Overhead other customers complaining about this system as welll so we know it's not just us, several friends said the same when i asked them when we returned home. However, when the food arrived - delivered by a lovely, friendly and polite girl and on a tray too - it was hot, fresh and delicious. The lattes were awesome too! Fabulous flavour, just the right strength. Well worth the drive, the wait and dealing with the rude woman on the till who seemed to be acting deliberately difficult. Farm shop was VERY impressive as was the gift shop. Beautiful products! Will visit again but hope i recieve better service in the cafe. Would give 5 stars in an instant if not for the service. If you go PLEASE try the snickers latte.

We were taking the sausage making class with Northumberland Sausage Company, so naturally called in to see what was for sale. We decided to have lunch after the class and my friend had a jacket potato with cottage cheese and pineapple, I had jacket potato with tuna mayo. We both had a diet coke and the bill was 12.20.the potatoes were baked in the oven not done in a microwave, the fillings were plentiful, even though the cottage cheese option was not on the menu - although it was on offer as a sandwich the waitress was happy to arrange it. I must admit that the mayo was lacking in my filling however it was still enjoyable. a small side salad - differing leaves and three cherry tomatoes which were going off on the very top - and a strange beetroot type slaw. There was plenty of choice on the menu and prices very reasonable. Will have a lunch here the next time we visit. The farm shop very good and an excellent array of cheeses.

we've been here a few times now, and gosh I love this place. As a Londoner I wish we had access to cafes like this. Really honest, home made food in generous portions, lovely friendly service and a nice atmosphere. Main course prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. However I think the puddings are quite steeply priced at £4 a slice (London prices!). On this occasion, we were there quite late and the staff member helpfully popped to our table to tell us that the gateaux had just been reduced. Goodness me. We tucked in. Really well made desserts, just too much for us, but the staff offered to box it up for us and the children had the leftovers for pudding!Fab venue. Lovely farm shop.
