Broadland Fish and Chips in North Norfolk

Just had fish and chips. Was very greasy. All we could taste was the fat. Left most of it. We have had from here before and has been lovely. Hoping it’s a one off

The haddock we ordered was cooked freshly while we waited. Chip protion was enormous. Really good fresh fish, in crunchy golden batter, dripping with fat - just as it should be ;-)

Great fish and chips very covid aware, only problem being local to the area and in a tourist area is during the school holidays there is a 1 hour queue, but It’s worth waiting for

Tried to pre-order but the calls went unanswered, so my wife and I decided to drive to Stalham. Parked opposite in the car park to find a queue which put us off, testament to the popularity I suppose. Maybe another time.... shame

Always visit when in Norfolk. Food always super fresh. Staff handle their covid procedures/precautions extremely well

Visited whilst on holiday. Very average fish and chips. Fish over cooked and chips bit great either. Was surprised at how poor it was given location next to coast.

Just picked up some fried chicken it was 10 minutes before they closed so a bit dubious about how long it was sitting there. I needn’t have worried it was first rate, and the free sample of there spicy wings were fantastic (thank you)

We go to the chicken place every Saturday the food is great always hot and the staff are very helpful and great they alway make us laugh Keep up the good work

Placed an order for 85 portions of chips as an end of term treat at the school I work at. Collection was arranged for after the shop had closed, it was smooth, the chips were freshly cooked and piping hot, condiments were in individual bags, customer service was second to none and the chips were amazing. The students and staff loved them, well done Broadland, we will use you again

Lovely big servings of fish, same with chips. Busy but get served quickly as they are drying up all the time. We go there every week. Covid regulations adhered to.

It was a lonv wait due to covid 29 queing and the fact the the fish is freshly cooked. I sas asked if i had pre odered haddock but there was no indication as to how to do this so we waited a little lomger tham some others but the fish was really good. The chips were a tiny bit overdone but overall and excellent chippy.

We come from Caister to stalham every week to get our wonderful fish and chips,we sit in the car and eat them even in the winter.Worth the travelling because always first class

Great fish and chips here. There is a bit of a wait as the fish is freshly fried to order. However the fish is flaky fresh and the batter is crispy and light. Well worth the wait. The gentleman overseeing the queue outside makes sure everyone is being served as quickly as possible.

Regularly buy fish & chips from here. I can eat all the batter off the fish as it's lovely and crispy and not oily.

The food here is delicious. Well priced and great portion sizes. I had the haddock and it tasted fresh and the batter was lovely and crispy. Great tasting chips too. Fantastic covid precautions in place too. One of the best meals of our holiday

Queuing was very well organised and the quality was excellent. Portions were huge and almost defeated us.

We stay in Norfolk at least once a year, and always get our fish and chips takeaway from here. Usually it's very good, which is why we keep coming back, but yesterday evening we were very disappointed. The fish was dry, the batter really soggy and the chips disappointing also. We ended up throwing most of the chips in the bin and giving some of the fish to our dogs. I am guessing we visited at a quiet time and the fish/chips were not freshly cooked as was our past experience. Sadly we will not be going back in the future.

We had Kebab and fish and chips, Not short on the portions, hot tasty food,friendly staff.Kebab was stacked full of meat with fresh salad,great value compared to the local kebab shop.

For many years now whenever nearby to Stalham I must divert off the A143 just into Stalham and visit Broadland fish and chips they are quite the best in the area and you can then take them down to the Stalham Sthaie and eat them whilst watching the boats go by.

Popped in to the Tender Fried Chicken as we wanted just a quick and easy take away and the queue for the chip shop was to long for us to wait, although we know the fish and chips are excellent. The greeting was warm and friendly and nothing was to much trouble. We both had a Chicken sandwich which had a large piece of tender chicken with plenty of lettuce and just the right amount of mayo. We asked for fried onion and this was no issue and was freshly fried and added. Excellent fast food and fantastic service what more can you ask for?

What can I say other than this place does good chips, good fish and soft drinks. Chips are placed in paper as is the fish. The whole lot is wrapped in paper and you take it away and eat it. Drinks come in cans, bottles or those little paper cartons.

Stayed close by for weekend before collecting our boat.. Had a fish night. Haddock lovely and fresh made to order, wife had cod which she said was great. Highly recommended it.

Been searching for quality fish and chips in Norfolk and finally found some. Great tasting, really good portions served by very friendly staff. Will be back

The start of our boating holidays was us really looking forward to fish and chips from Broadlands. The previous year the fish was that big it hung over the tray, big pure white flakes of fresh cod and good quality chips. They were a lovely friendly mature couple running it then. This year different staff and food the fish although at first glance looked great it turned out to be a very thin odd coloured fillet covered in a great deal of batter and mediocre chips. Giving businesses poor reviews gives me no pleasure at all I don’t know the reasons for the poor food and service but unless they improve we will not be going back again.

Finishing our boating holiday, moored up at Stalham, and visited this Fish and Chip shop for our last supper before going home. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the portions were amazingly large, though not ordered large, and the food was hot and tasty. Awesome ! Our family had a mix of fish and pies and sausages etc. The fish was absolutely wonderful (and large !). Lovely. Great value.

Although queue was extremely long and had to wait around 30 minste, it was well worth it. Excellant food, Freshly cooked to perfection. Good prices and friendly staff

Unbelievably unfriendly service it was that bad that even the kids noticed, fish was ok but chips were cold(bit like the staff) definitely won’t be going back

We went on a Friday evening and it was very busy, but worth the wait. It is takeaway only but there is parking outside and opposite. The fish & chips were excellent.

Worst fish & chips I've ever eaten in nearly 40 years.

There is normally a queue here as your fish is normally cooked to order. I don’t mind this at all when it is so good. The batter is as good as the fish.

Waited for 2 large tails of cod to be fried, I don't mind the wait if the food is edible, but this was not! The fish was tasteless and so dry, and the batter was too thick and greasy, and was not cooked properly inside. The chips were awful, so dry. This was a huge disappointment as we had travelled from Norwich to go to this fish shop especially - we will not go there again. I ate none of my fish and one or two chips, and came home feeling very hungry! This was not a cheap tea, and was more expensive than our usual chip shop, and was a complete waste of money, as neither of us could eat the Cod! Our dog ate the fish, and my husband felt very sick after eating a few chips! Complete waste of money for inedible food!

Day out for family of 4 from Cambridge. Nearly worth the 1 1/2 hr drive just for the fish and chips. Freshly cooked, tasty and a good portion. You do have to wait, but our experience was worth it.

Fish was overcooked, dry and far too much batter. The chips were dry and pretty tasteless. The wait was half an hour as they were very busy, but I have now absorbed the smell of batter and oil into my clothes and hair, which is quite unpleasant. Wouldn't go back.

Freshly cooked to order this huge fish portion was the way I remember cod used to be - fresh and with big white tasty flakes. Wish we lived nearer!

This is a really great fish and chip shop. It’s reasonably priced and has the best batter for miles around. The fish always stays crispy when wrapped up and taken home which unfortunately is uncommon for many fish and chip shops these days.

Broadland Fish and Chips is our go-to favourite place for fish and chips in the area. Always generous delicious portions and such good value and piping hot. Swift service despite being packed to the door!

Our first night near Stalham, plus it was Friday, so it had to be fish and chips. I had already done some research on the area so knew there was a Fish and Chip shop on the High Street.

Great fish and chips, bit of a que but that is a good sign, lovely fish and chips friendly staff. Nearby parking.

Whilst holidaying in Hickling we travelled to Stalham for a fish and chip supper on a friday night. Very, very busy but staff worked very quickly and efficiently. The fish and chips were delicious with very generous portions. Would revisit.

We always go here when at our boat never disappointed with the quality wish they were open .Mondays ,but then I would just eat more no chip shop at home matches these

Prior to our boating holiday we called in for fish and chips both the haddock and cod was delicious. Thought they’d given me a special by mistake as the it overhung the tray both ends. Excellent friendly service noticed with nothing being to much trouble especially for the elderly clientele. Will definitely call again highly recommend.

Had family down for the weekend, as Kingfisher fish and chips were closed for a holiday we decided to go to the above shop. The fishcake was soggy, the chips were dry and tasted very fatty and as for the mushy peas these were nothing more than processed peas in green slop. Will not go there again.

Had fish and chips for 4 Adults,served very quick&efficient;,and cost £20.80 very tasty fish well worth the drive from our holiday let.

Friday at 6pm and the queue was about 12 people happily waiting for excellent fish and chips. I expected a long wait but the efficient staff quickly served everyone.

We have regularly bought haddock and cod and chips from this establishment and frankly it is the best we have ever had. Enough said, how do you better perfection?

Lovely traditional chippy, all food is as you would expect, always fresh tasting and piping hot, large cod has to be folded in half to fit in your plate!!! You need two other plates for large chips!!! Definitely worth a visit if your hungry!!

Our taxi driver recommended this place and we were so pleased he did. The fish was so thick and white and the chips perfect. There is parking just outside the shop. It was also excellent value. When we are around the Norfolk broads again we will certainly go back.

9 times out of 10 a good fish and chip meal. The Haddock is always my favourite, freshly cooked, great batter and good chips. Good value for money as well.

Takeaway fish n Chips is always risky on a Friday but I got lucky and the queue wasn’t too long. Plaice cooked to order, and well cooked, chips good too.

This is my local Fish & Chip shop, but I used to live elsewhere in the U.K and we were not lucky enough to have a place as good as this on our doorstep. Fabulous fish & chips, friendly welcome and good prices. You may need to queue, but it will be worth the wait.

After reading other reviews I was very pleased with the food received, yes it took a while but the place was very busy so not an issue. Looking at the menu everything is cooked fresh so waiting anytime would be the same.

Being from the North of England where fish n chips is a near staple diet and very very good I have to admit that they do a pretty good job. You'll queue but it'll be worth it!

There's not much you can say about fish and chips that hasn't already been said. Traditional convenience food at reasonable prices, and their chicken wasn't half bad.

Lovely aroma tempted me in. Wish I hadn't bothered. The cod was dry and overcooked, the batter was hard. Chips, although plentiful, were dry and tasteless and had that 'reheated' appearance. Can't see why people rave about this place, worst fish and chips I've had in ages.

I think the title says it all, in hindsight.What more can I say?Never again.Once is once too many.Something along those lines.It baffles me that people QUEUE for this sort of stuff. Amazing.

The long queue on a Friday night is a clue, this chip shop is rightly popular. Freshly cooked, generous portions this is a great take away. Try it if your hungry.

We had several fish and chips, plus sausage. I'm not saying it was bad, it's better than potter heigham and about the same as wroxham. It was ok, we won't go again. The fish was the best, the chips very average. We have a great local chip shop and this wasn't anywhere near as good. Shame as it's busy. Just my view of course...

If you are in the area or a local get your fantastic fish n chips here. Great tasty fish portions the large is massive enough for two people . Friendly owners who also own the establishment next door . You will nor be disappointed . ☺☺☺☺

Always get good chips from here plus easy to park, with car park across the road. Often busy might have to wait a little bit but good quality food and worth a visit

It does get very busy on Friday evenings but definitely worth the wait. The fish is so creamy and the batter isn't too thick either. They even give you 'crispy bits' from the batter if you ask.

A lovely village fish and chip shop run by a family. Very clean and a friendly welcome. All types of fish and chips on offer all cooked to order with the added bonus of pies, sausages and next door is there other business chicken. So this is great if your family want fish and chicken. Great service and great price.

This is my local fish & chip shop, but there are others fairly close to chose from, but in my opinion, this is the best!It's unusual in that one side of the shop is for chicken/ribs/kebabs & burgers and the other side for fish.Now I don't really eat fish, but I will eat the middle Cod you get from here, it is fresh, flaky with good batter!I would normally have chicken from here and again it's very good.I should also mention the portion sizes, which are quite large!The shop is always clean and the staff are all always smiling and friendly.You really can't ask for much more from your local "Chippy".Give them a try, I'm sure you'll be pleased.

Probably the best large haddock I have ever tasted the fish was perfectly cooked the batter crisp the fish was white and delicious. Sadly the chips were of less quality crispy but not a match on the fish. I will go there again the only problem is that it is so well known that there are always queues but the fish is freshly cooked for you so it's worth the queue.

This fish and chips and their tender fried chicken shop next to it sell the most delicious food you will ever try. The donner kebab actually taste like lamb with a hint of mint and the slices are thick! The chicken has the most yummiest seasoning you will ever try. The fish and chips are always tasty and fresh too! No complaints here!

The fired chicken from here is lovely - well cooked and not full of skin. 2 pieces of chicken and chips are great value, and the chicken bites are boneless and well cooked.Recommended for a cheat meal during the week if knackered on the way home!

Went here on a Friday night about 5:30ish, queue was nearly out the door (no issue with this) we'd seen you need to pre order quite a few items on the list but there's no sign to say WHERE to pre order. So we were having large cod & chip, regular sausage & chip and regular fish & chips, according to the sign there was no need to pre order and continued to wait in the queue which was about 15 minutes in total. When I came to order I was then informed we should of pre ordered the large cod & Chips (NOT STATED ON THEIR BOARD). I mentioned to the server the piece in the counter would of been big enough but I got told to wait by the door area and once it was cooked I could then complete my order I was Waiting & waiting and seen many haddocks being cooked and served before mine and I know for fact one ladies order was made 10minutes after mine. I then asked the lady cooking the haddocks "how long does it take to cook a large cod?" She replied with "Only 5minutes, but it depends where you are on the list, you have to pre order before joining the queue" she then points to the board to which I stated "there's no star against the cod!?" After waiting a further 30 minutes we finally got served again! The format needs updating as waiting 45minute for what should of been a simple order was ridiculous!! Ignoring this issue the food was lovely hence the 3 stars. If the food wasn't worth the hassle a mere 1star would of been given

Never ever had an inferior fish and chip meal from this chippy - highly recommended -tried others but always come back to here. Staff lovely and with great value and great food, have no problem waiting to be served at busy times.

Fish cooked fresh to order bar the cod. Batter perfect & melts in the mouth. Staff always smiling, friendly, & shop always full of regulars, who are on first name basis. The adjoining chicken shop shares staff, so a pleasure to choose food from both =D

If you fancy fresh fish and chips then Broadland Fish and Chips will not disappoint. Much of the fish is cooked to order and the portions are generous. They tend to close at about 7.30pm so best to go before 7pm to order your take away.

After being let down by the lack of enthusiasm to sell my family grub at Sea Palling, we went searching for a chippy in the next nearest village. So glad we did!Found this little gem in Stalham, fresh chips, freshly cooked scampi for the girls, extremely generous portions of chips, seemed reasonably priced too. Chips were as good as my local award winning chippy. Got our order, worth waiting the cooking time for, then we headed off to find a nice little spot by the Broads to tuck into our grub. We had to bin what we couldn't eat! Hate to waste such yummy food but our stomachs were full!

Went here yesterday, good fish and chips, does have a reputation for having long queues and lived up to this, expect to wait 10-15 minutes for your food

On holiday on the broads and wanted some chips to go with dinner. We had to queue up for about 20 - 25 minutes while the lady behind the counter was talking and by the time we got to the front of the queue all that was said was 'who is next', we said hello a couple of times to no response and then told her our order which was dished up on a rather dirty tray. We then paid and said thank you and goodbye several times to no response and didn't even get a bag for our takeaway food. Very very disappointed...

Very quick, even when there's a big queue the staff don't keep you waiting for long. Really nice staff there and good priced food, plus it's REALLY tasty!

Wow - best fish & chips I've had for ages. Large queue which is always a good sign, tip - order your fish as you enter the shop & it's freshly cooked for you. Not expensive and regular portion size was more than enough for one person. Totally recommend
