was cold,cod was very small and chips were un eatable

Just ordered today, food was awful!!! The fish was soggy and didn’t taste nice at all, the chips were cold and old not fresh!!!! The curry sauce was fulll of lumps and looked like porridge!!! And the savaloy was hard and cold!! Young girl who works there, very rude and offered us a discount for next time!! But I will never eat here again, not only that will be advising family never to use

I ordered an apple pie that stated was sold by the slice, so naturally I expected a proper piece of apple pie, no not so, I got one of those awful deep fried things. Have always hated these, so I did the only thing I could do and binned it. Shame cos this somewhat spoiled what was otherwise a good meal. Britannia do yourself a favour and make sure your menu is corrected as I would never have ordered this had your menu said fried apple pie.

Good service and good fish and chips, usually have a chat. Been going here for a few years now and always enjoy my meal

Awful, whole thing was just a soggy mess. Only thing not was pie which was in its own plastic wrapper. Battered sausage was limp and soft. Either poorly made or delivery driver sat with it somewhere for 20 minutes. Normal sausage poor quality, chips the same. Never use this place

Omg, the food was awful, had sausage in batter that tasted weird, chips ok, but the apple pie was unbelievable 🤢, didn’t even taste like a cheap apple pie slice, I can’t even describe what the taste was, let’s hope in not hugging the toilet tonight🤞🤮

2 portions of chips , sausage and curry sauce the worse ever. Chips soggy, sausage anemic batter chewy. Curry sauce light yellow with loads of lumps. Cannot beleive this place has any stars. Never again.

Went here for chips with S&V only. Staff friendly, service slower than expected, but fast enough not to be irritating. Unfortunately, chips were just bearly warm when trying them immediately outside the shop (so no time to cool). No excuse for serving warm chips imho. Didn't bother complaining, just wont go back.

Cod and chips was lovely fish white and flaky chips piping hot excellent customer service couldn't fault it at all polite clean professional I definitely recommend Britannia fish and chip shop ☺️

The 2 stars are for the fact that the fish was fish and the chips were chips. The fish was dry and the girl serving spoke with the gentleman behind the counter, told him there were no chips but he directed her to the back of the pan where there were some old dried up chips. She was digging so deep i thought she might come up with a fossil. So after deciding I wanted Fish & Chips and going into a new chippy (For me anyway) I can only express my disappointment at the dried up food I was served and based on this experience, I will not be returning.

Vegan banana blossom 'fish' or vegan 'chicken' burger would be a nice addition but the spring rolls and chips were nice.

Just fancied some chips today after work Sunday just gone 1pm young girl serving thought chips looked over done got them home most of them very over cooked/ been sitting around to long ate a few through the rest in the bin !

Probably the worst chip shop in wickford. Not to worry tho , plenty more I'll go to. Chips all burnt, pie soggy and wet. I'll definitely not go back

Got cod and chips and a curry roll for me,chips and curry sauce for my wife,my wife the next day has been sick 3 times the chips were terrible the curry sauce was like dishwater,I've had to take the day of work to look after her she is really rough and it can only be the food out of this shop cause it was the only thing she had eaten all day. Terrible food

Lived in Wickford for a year, we have used other chip shops but Brittania has the best fish and chips- so much flavour, very good customer service and prices are very good too.

Had a chicken burger made, and when I got home to eat it I found brown, slimy and smelly gone off lettuce inside. It does seem like when being made someone would be able to recognise the lettuce was off? Really disappointed. We’re encouraged to support our local businesses :(

I recently had a burger from here. I'm a chef by trade (12 years). To my disappointment deep fried burgers. Hard to eat. I was running late to pick my kids up, so couldn't go back. The lady was nice so no fault on service. Training is what I think is the problem. And if there is not solid top or grill or so on, get one. I'm pretty sure nisbets or other catering suppliers or gumtree will have one. I have been in here a few times and fancied a burger for a change. I hope this fish shop takes my comment on board for the improvement for their business. Thank you

Just had large cod and chips cod had one mouthful and had a hard rubbery bit all the way through was like was still frozen when I phoned up staff was no help at all could have been easily resolved with a replacement

Always good quality and reasonably sized portions. There is a chip shop opposite my house, but would rather get the car out and go to Britannia Fish Bar, than walk across the road. I believe it is now the best Fish n Chip shop in Wickford now. Yes, taking over from the long standing favourite.

Waited half hour for a piece of haddock (no one else in shop) and when I did get it it was bland with no flavour other than grease. Sausage in batter was chewy and greasy too.

Always buy my lunch from here. Reasonable prices with the perfect portion size!

Really enjoyed this take away, although there is a small seating area. I have used this place a few times and have had to wait for food to be cooked,which is great because it’s hot and not been sitting in a warmer. Staff are friendly,.

Hard dry chips and barely luke warm, had to unpleasantly spit some out as they were either too hard or had a foul taste. There was not a single chip which was crunchy or fluffy. The £1.50 price of chips was not worth my return to complain, but serving old chips like this is a cardinal sin for a chip shop, so a bad review and a vote with my custom is more appropriate.

I can't believe how bad the food I have just bought from this restaurant is. Totally inedible. The fish was dripping in grease. The chips were dried out and looked like they were re-fried. It wasn't even luke warm. Feel like I've been taken for an idiot. unfortunately I don't have time to take it back, but I certainly won't be going back.

Probably one of the best chip shops in Wickford draw a variety of specials and all the special fish and chip type meals always had Fresh Hot chips staff are very friendly always cleaning a small seating area within the chip shop you can use as a restaurant

All ways use this chip shop when very late home from work never had any problems with the food hot and fresh , the staff are polite and friendly . Only give four, as some times I am late and they are closed would like them to be open but they would get all of the drinks from the pub so I understand why

Ordered 26 Cod and Chips, 3 Chicken and Chips and one portion of chips for a vegan. Delivered at 1.15 at our WI meeting in Christchurch hall, brilliant service, food red hot and complete with tartare sauce.

The Britannia supplies our bowls club for our Fish and Chip supper and bingo evenings .Despite providing up to eighty portions the fish and chips are always excellent and piping hot .Couldn`t find better anywhere.

Have used this fish bar on a number of occasions and have never had any bad food from them, they open early and don't finish till late, the portions are ample but sometimes where they have cooked too much the food, is left in the wamer cabinet too long so the food is a bit dry.

Although the inside might not inspire confidence, the food does wonders for it.

There isn't really any more to say than that. If i ever visit Britannia it will be for the Chips, i love the chips here. everything else is the same as any other fish n chips so nothing special.

Started going to the Brittania when Pisces we closed for hols in July ,,the Q isn't massive and you can park outside during the evening ,the portions are generous, and the fish is not to greasy.another bonus for me is that they take debit card ,which is really handy

We visit this restaurant every Thursday for our Cod & Chips with mushy peas and tea or coffee. The food is always freshly cooked and always excellent quality great pensioner deal.

If you are shopping in Wickford, Essex & feel like something tasty to eat you should visit the Brittania Fish Bar. The staff are very friendly & their food is very good. The fish is always fresh & is covered in a lovely crisp golden batter, their chips are very tasty too. As well as this they sell various pies & saveloys, etc. also hot & cold drinks, so you have plenty of choice. Good traditional food at a very reasonable price.

Savaloy and chips Savaloy was split and must have been in warmer for days as the flesh underneath the skin had turned brown ! took it back wont be repeating that experience again disgusting

My fiancée just returned home from picking up fish and chips from me in the rain on his motorbike, the things you do for a 7 month pregnant lady ! I was so disappointed to find my chips nearly raw and unable to eat, a chip shop that cant cook chips ??? Never again ...
