Saw The Blue Man Group with my family and had a great time. Wheelchair accessible viewing is back at row S but the view and sound are good here. The venue is much better than the old 'Colesnawl' but still has challenges in that there is little by way of on street parking outside. Roadworks meant that the Trenchard Street exit was not accessible but staff still directed me that way. The beer choice lacks a decent bitter and is quite expensive. The huge airy atrium made me think that the space could have been used more efficiently to provide studio spaces and maybe even a smaller venue.

Our first time seeing the Beacon since it’s massively over budget renovation, and cosmetically it looked pretty good. Sat in the front row of level 1, we had a great view and sufficient leg room. I’m glad we didn’t sit in the stalls because those seats were virtually flat with little tiering (unlike those on the upper levels we were in) and there were people clearly struggling to see if someone tall was sat in front of them in the stalls. It must be a common known problem because the venue were giving out booster seats. It was a missed opportunity not to put a centre aisle into the upper floors because with rows of 60 seats it can mean a lot of standing up to let people shuffle in and out, especially as the venue is let in people who arrived over 20 mins after the show had started. Audio was good and much improved, and the lighting was good throughout.

Went back to this theatre for the first time in a while and way before it was renovated inside. Went to see the Blue Man Group too. Show was entertaining, obscure and novel for sure. Whilst at the theatre we got a chance to enjoy the restaurant and it serves beautiful food and drink. I tackled a sourdough chickpea and salad sandwich and sticky toffee iced bun with decaf coffee. Sumptuous. The staff within the restaurant and theatre were all most helpful too. Inside the theatre itself we were sat upstairs on the Upper levels. All was fine and we had a great vantage to see over and onto the stage. The only thing we did clock whilst there was, there are no forms of steps breaking up the seating across the upper floors. Steps only go up the sides. So if you are sat in the middle of a very long row of seats and need toilet or refreshments, you can imagine the fuss it creates....if caught out. Otherwise all good. Interesting renovations with the side "boxes" seating areas.

What a wonderful venue. Firstly, there is a multi-level car park opposite with eight EV charging stations on level 1. See the website for prices, but we paid £7•50 for approx 3 hrs + The venue entrance is quite spacious (see photo) with a cloakroom (we paid £1 for two coats), information centre, large staircase, lifts, large bar with seating area, and good clean toilet facilities. The auditorium is small to medium-sized, which gives good viewing to the stage. Good comfortable seating with removable covers (for cleaning). A most enjoyable day, thank you

Considering this place has had £130m+ spent on it, it was very disappointing. We had seats on the top tier. While there was sufficient leg room, the lay out of the seats and access to them is frankly awful. We sat in row H. This row has 64 seats. The centre block of 56 seats is only accessible from either end, there is no central access. This resulted in us having to stand up and sit down about 30 times as people filed to their seats. A complete farce. Secondly, the stairs leading up to the seats are very shallow in depth. This is fine when you are walking up them but makes them hazardous to walk down as you can't put the ball of your foot on them and have to walk down on your heels. I and several others stumbled down them narrowly avoiding falls. Take care.....! The Pretenders on the other hand were excellent!!

Lovely venue, nicely set up. They've done really well. They need to work on the intermission smoke break though. Being a lot of people shared tickets, not everyone had their tickets as they were on their partner/friends phone. So security was having a nightmare, they couldn't check tickets that were already in the hall and head security was telling them off. Maybe stamp people on the way in? Or like a little card the smokers/vapers could take with them to save any confrontation? I'm sure they'll streamline it soon enough.

Performance - Matt Rife: ProbleMATTic World Tour Date: 21/09/24 My first time back in the main hall since the refurbishment and my first big gig since having Bone Anchored Hearing Devices installed. Knowing about the "no photography or recording," I spoke to the usher on the door to the hall about the fact that my hearing is controlled by my phone. So, if I need to change the volume or other settings, I'd need my phone. The usher could not have been better in this instance. I soon found out that they'd immediately told the head of security, who then spent about 10 - 15 minutes telling each and every other of his security colleagues on and off stage. As a disabled person and disability advocate, this was just what was needed.

At Bristol Beacon, we attended Verdi's Requiem performed by the Bristol Choral Society. It was held in the renovated concert hall. Unforgettable moments! A feast for the ears! Bristol Beacon, formerly known as Colston Hall, changed its name in 2020 to distance itself from its association with Edward Colston, a historical figure linked to the slave trade.

Considering that millions were spent on the refurbishment, nothing was done with the foyer, mainly the toilets. They were disgusting. The main hall was okay I guess, bigger than before but the stalls area could have done with being sloped more. Unless you're in row J, it's completely flat so if you have someone tall in front of you, you're not seeing much!!

Like the venue, though a bit of a bottleneck on the staircase getting out. Some good gigs. Dislike the drink prices: £6.50 for a pint, £6.50 for a 125ml glass of wine and £10.50 for 250ml. If you want lemonade, you're still looking at £4.50. Didn't expect drinks to be cheap but that's taking the micky. You do get 10% discount on drinks if you become a member (£45) which I would have considered if it had included a discount on ticket prices.

The refurbishment of the auditorium feels good - level 2 row A balcony seats really lack legroom, whereas on L3 the view is quite restricted in row A. feel like like safety threat if there was an evacuation rush. Surely a modern theatre experience should deliver better seating - and describe/price accordingly if it cannot - this really needs management action as sitting for 90 minutes is almost impossible. Accoustics are good. The single staircase is only just workable but if multiple stages are exiting at the same time it's dire. Bar prices are crazy high for standing room only and horrible plastic beakers. Performers seem to like it

This is the first time attending since it was the Colston Hall which was an iconic venue that I had the please of performing in for 12 years in a row so I have many fond memories as a performer. The music hall looks very nice and sound is brilliant (There hearing the sea shanty sounds of Fisherman Friends). Plenty of leg room and comfortable seating. The reason why I have rated the experience so low is. Sat in the upper tier. It is very stuffy and hot with a lack of air. Surely with a modern building there should be some aircon so if the temperature hits a certain degrees it can cool the place down? Given the increase in size of the building the Beacon, formerly the Colston Hall now appears to have less toilets. I don't know what the women's were like but for the men's, there were queues on all floors for the toilets as many of the toilets only have 1 cubical and minimal urinals. Lastly. At the end of the concert. There are very long queues to get out and at times it became quite dangerous with the queueing on the stairs. People say Bristol Airport queuing on the stairs in the arrival hall is bad but this is much worse. I'd hate to think what would happen if there was a fire. Very bad design flaw.

Calum and his support act were excellent and the seats were superb for sound and vision.
