Great food, service and a great veggie breakfast!

Really great place! We’ve passed by many times but not stopped before; so pleased we did! We were greeted immediately, and warmly; seated on a lovely big table even though just the two of us and our baby. The menu is extensive so we dithered a lot before choosing and the staff were so lovely, didn’t make us feel uncomfortable at all. The food was delicious, and we were checked back on to make sure all was ok. Water was offered which is such a nice touch and appreciated! All staff were brilliant, friendly, welcoming and professional. We will be back for sure.

A good spot for breakfast on your way into Cornwall. Very fast service. Decent coffee. Cosy decor and lighting. Car park is a bit tight.

Great breakfast and a Shell EV charger next door.

From the moment we were greeted by the lovely blonde lady when we came in, to the guy who ran our drinks and took our food order, until paying the bill and chatting with the Manager (Bryony I think), all the staff were so friendly and happy, it really made a great meal even better. The food was fantastic and much better than we expected for a roadside American style diner, but then we found out it's run by the same company that owns Cosy Club, so that explains the great food! We'll definitely be back, and keep an eye out to visit other Brightsides as well!

We stopped here completely on a whim passing through for work, thought the place looked interesting. What a wonderful, retro diner, spotlessly clean and with really friendly staff. I had the veggie breakfast, quite possibly the best breakfast I've ever had! Partner had a big breakfast, again absolutely wonderful. I cannot wait to bring my children, they're going to love it!

Stopped in for dinner, had the brisket burger which was very good. The chicken burger and kids meals were also good. The young lady serving (Abigail I think) was absolutely lovely and a real asset to the company. Was very friendly with our toddler and made us feel very welcomed.

Been here a few times and and never been disappointed.

This place is amazing! We were on a couple nights break in Saltash and driving down to Par and saw this on the way. After looking at what was available for some lunch we decided to pop in on the way back. What we found was a very clean, well staffed establishment with deliciously, well-cooked food at a very reasonable price. I had the brisket burger (which was the best burger I've ever had by some margin) and my partner the avocado toast with halloumi (which she said was absolutely delicious) and was all on our table within 10 minutes of sitting down. We love it here and will definitely come again. My only complaint was that there wasn't more food!!

Didn’t know what to expect, but needed lunch in the road and very glad I stopped here. Quick and helpful service, everyone working was happy, burger was fantastic, place was spotless and loved the retro decor. Will come back with family!

Outstanding. We popped here on a whim hoping for some decent milkshakes. We drive past all the time. What we found was great milkshakes, amazing food and fantastic staff. Prefect, calm warm atmosphere. Staff were on hand, helpful and polite. The food was delicious and served quick. Will recommend and will definitely return.

First time here since it changed from Route 38. Much bigger inside and far more tables, booths and outside tables. Food was excellent and very friendly staff. Very impressive first visit. Will defo come again soon ! The burger and fries was £15, the hot BLT was £6.50 and a couple of coffees was £6....so £27 total. Not bad for Cornwall !

Another great family visit for a late lunch. This time we discovered there was a book shelf where children can borrow a book or board game to play at the tables; this restaurant really had thought of so much for the children. The little snack pots that come out whilst you wait for your food are always very welcome. The children’s meals are such great value with the drinks and puddings. And the adults meals as always were super tasty, the hot honey halloumi fries were Devine! The facilities were super clean and the staff very friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. We hope to be back again!

Stopped of for lunch here, the waitress was lovely and there was a lovely chilled atmosphere and the restaurant is layed out really well. The food and coffee were excellent

We visited on Sunday lunchtime on a wet a dreary weekend but our meal and the visit definitely brightened up our moods. The staff were lovely and friendly and super helpful. The booth for our family of 6 was perfect. We hadn’t visited since the renovations from what was the older establishment on the site and were blown away by how different it is, such a great 70s style and everywhere was lovely and clean. Our meals were fantastic, we appreciated that each kids meal came with crudités and hummus whilst we waited for our mains to come out. My husband opted for the brisket burger and said it was one of the best burgers he’d ever had. Our waitress felt one out of children’s portions of chips was quite pokey so she brought out a fresh batch of extra chips which was massively appreciated. The kids all enjoyed their puddings as did we. Would definitely recommend whether you’re passing whilst traveling or if you’re local and looking for a new location to try!

Lovely food, I don’t even like pizza, but this pizza was so good. I highly recommend it. Bathroom top notch If I could, I would Six stars top notch bathrooms so cheap five stars

1st time coming here staff were very helpful and polite. It's great that they have a separate gluten free &vegetarian/vegan menu .my son can't have gluten or dairy and the waitress sorted out something that was suitable for my son .the food was lovely. The atmosphere was nice chilled and relaxing. I'm also a crutches user and there was a ramp for me to go up to get in and a fully equipped disabled toilet on ground floor. Also tables spread out so if crutches user or wheelchair you can get around easily. Definitely come here again

We have stopped here 3 times and every time we were served hot tasty food. Hats off to the chef. The place is bright and clean, the staff friendly and helpful. We can highly recommend it and will be definitely stopping off again on our next trip to Plymouth.

Had a great breakfast and our dog was made welcome with a bowl of water and some gravy bones. Staff were really friendly and the food was great. Recommended.

Called in on the way past as we went home. Near the end of the day but still was made to feel at home and valued. Food was really great and quickly served by happy staff. Highly recommended!

When I went it was a quiet evening, but very pleasant experience all round!

Breakfast was nice, service was lovely. Was told a 30 min wait for food (Saturday around 2pm) but drinks and food arrived within 10 mins of being seated. Had a nice feel to the place.

Food was fresh, tasty and obviously made from quality ingredients. Staff were incredibly friendly and attentive.

Very nice food and very flavourful especially the dessert, though wait staff are a little slow but it’s not inconvenient ,a few costumers had there orders wrong but they were quickly token care of but the staff are friendly and accommodating

Extremely good staff here. Nothing to much trouble. Had lovely pizzas, served good and hot. Loos exceptionally clean and nicely decorated. Will go again soon.

Really friendly welcome, quick service and a much needed good breakfast. I left happy and satisfied.

Other similar type restaurants could learn a lot from the Brightside team. This was our second visit and ALL of the staff are outstanding. Friendly, caring and will go out of their way to help. Ofcourse it’s part of the job but it’s a little more special. A little more heartfelt. I hope this is recognised and appreciated internally. If you have food allergies you will be in good hands. It’s the first thing we were asked on both visits. Great food and good value. Higher quality than their peers. Recommend the breakfast. Quality bacon and the Sausages are amazing. Sourdough toast. Brightside care and encourage your feedback to help them grow and improve. We will be back! Thankyou!

Cracking burgers, friendly, attentive service and all round good value for money.

It was incredible! The honey burger and the dirty brisket burger was heavenly! The service was great also and the venue was immaculate! Thank you for a lovely dinner 🍲 Would also highly recommend the vanilla and white chocolate cheesecake!

I Visited today 22/11 with my partner and daughter I used to visit myself quite often through the year a few years back when it was route 38. Due to unforeseen circumstances I was unable to come down in recent years due to personal reasons. We looked online and saw route 38 had gone but decided to visit Brightside anyway, for my daughters 2nd birthday. we are so glad we ate there tonight. as the food was beautiful and piping hot when it arrived. There was also a good selection to choose from. I would also love to mention a member of staff called Ava, she made sure that my 2 year old was occupied with colouring and reading. She was also very helpful with recommendations she asked multiples times how everything was, to make sure it was all okay. upon leaving the restaurant Ava again checked everything was okay, and gave my daughter a parting gift. She was so very thoughtful and it was such a nice gesture. I work as a manager in a customer service role for a large entertainments company, and I can say now I would be so happy if all our staff were like Ava. I will be recommending Brightside to any who mentions they will be visiting Cornwall I will also be revisiting for breakfast before our 300 mile drive home Sunday.

Wanted it to be more, but food is overpriced and service not great. Had a ‘Dirty Burger’ but the bap was whole meal and not particularly suitable for a ‘diner’ burger. Other meal was a big breakfast but not really worth £16. Waitresses were nice, but a long wait for food and then bill (I think one forgot she was going to get it). Overall not the best. Decor is interesting (think ‘The Shining’ or ‘Stranger Things’. Should be better than this. A diner with an average burger and an overpriced breakfast is not really on.

We were served by Rachel, who was super friendly and accommodating. Food was good but the lovely staff were the best part of the experience.

I called into bright side to ask if I could use their toilets and asked if they could do a takeaway chips due to waiting for recovery on my car and had a bad experience whilst waiting! The lady very kindly said that it was ok! On my return to order the food I only had £5 with me and they very kindly gave me a meal and a drink on the house for the terrible evening I had! I attempted to offer them the money I had and they refused. I would highly recommend this place! Absolutely lovely staff and very supportive.

One of our favourite family diners when were on holiday in Cornwall, we always pay a visit, Rachel and team are always super lovely and attentive, food is great and the interiors are Wes Anderson meets Stranger Things, the attention to detail is fabulous, including the very retro avocado bathrooms. Highly recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Good quality food and friendly helpful staff. We eat at Lounge bars around the country and we're keen to try this place as it is part of that group. We highly recommend eating here. There are good gluten free options.

We have been here for the past 2 years. Last year we enjoyed it but it seems to have gone a little downhill since then. Coffee was very bitter and I enjoy a strong coffee. I ordered the vegetarian breakfast. 2 little strips of haloumi, potato rosti and whatever else was on. This was definitely not worth what we paid for it. My friend ordered the same and was as disappointed as I was. We will not be returning

First time there. Fast quick service. Plenty of room where you are seated. The only problem was my coffee came out cold. They refunded me and gave me a replacement.👍

Very clean and bright. Seating is great as there is plenty of room between tables. Brightside breakfast was amazing.

On entering the place we thought we had stepped back to the 1970's. The place looks very dated but I suspect that is by design. The staff are welcoming and the food is freshly prepared to order. We had a small cooked breakfast which was not small but was delicious. No mushrooms but plenty of bacon. Reminded me of the Little Chef restaurants. Good fir families.

Was disappointed with the food. All our steaks were over done. The coffee was Luke warm and my glass was dirty! All the staff recited the same customer service speech word for word which made everything seem insincere. The restaurant at Exeter was excellent very disappointed with this one! There was also a dirty smell by the bar. If I had smelt this first I may not have stayed.

I've lived in the US and this is the closest to an American Diner that I've had in the UK. The food is excellent 👌. All of it. I want everything on the menu every time I come. The service is always top notch (unusual nowadays) with a decent turnaround time. It's a real treat and an absolute jewel in the west country (along with their other locations on Haldon Hill and the A303)

We stopped in here on our way back from St Kew and based on the reviews we weren't really expecting much so we were really pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was clean and well laid out and they have a selection of books and toys available for children. The service was fast and very friendly, the coffee was really nice and the food was all very well cooked and enjoyable. The staff were all really nice and constantly on the move and doing something - when they weren't serving they were cleaning and checking that we had everything we needed.

3 girls at bar no one offered to help the place was mostly empty they wouldn’t let me sit where I wanted around the corner away from people . The chicken was so well done it was dried out and so crispy I couldn’t eat it the chunky chips were so over cooked there was no potato inside I sent them back . Got another pot not much better and they were covered in something sweet. Which was burnt all over these chips every thing so sweet and they charged 17.05 for that . I wish I refused to pay

Burgers were actually very good as was the pizza but very expensive for what it was. Drinks and sides extremely overpriced and luke warm. Service absolutely appalling hence the three stars, mostly run by inexperienced and inattentive kids. Was much much better when it was Route 38.

Children's menu was over-priced for the portion my litte boy recieved. His food clearly hadn't been freshly prepared and had been reheated.

Just can't fault it. Had a few meals at bright side and the food is brilliant. Burgers are exceptional, better than a lot of burger places (get the dirty brisket or chicken mac), breakfast was good too.

Everything was amazing, the bacon and sauages and the eggs was spot on. And the waitresses was really friendly and proper... A big 100% from me... By far better then the old route 38....

Big breakfast nothing like picture in menu. No mushrooms so offered extra egg or tomato. Extra egg didnt arrive or black pudding in picture ? Bacon burnt to a crisp. Sausages tasted horrible. Burger meal , cup of tiny chips burger just looked a mess. Definitely give this place a miss.

Can't fault the staff great attitude, my 9 year old insisted on replacing the naan with the curry with pancakes and they did it! All credit and it works really well, new menu item? Thanks!

We stopped here to have breakfast on our way to the monkey sanctuary. From the moment we went inside staff were friendly and very accommodating. One of my children is autistic and can be quite specific about what she needs and wants and staff were adaptable sympathetic and understanding. Food was excellent hot fresh and really good portions and quality.

We love popping into Brightside on our way home from visiting Family in Devon. We recently took our young grand daughter & the staff were very accommodating & friendly. When we left we had accidently left a juice bottle & a lovely staff member came out to the carpark to hand it too us. We have never had a bad experience & would highly recommend a visit.

Where Little Chef meets Stranger Things. An amazing restaurant in a great location. We visited here when it was Route 38 twice before when holidaying in Cornwall, then it was good but this is great. Awesome Interior through even the avacado green toilets, brilliant. Staff lovely and dog friendly. We visited on a Wednesday when it was Kids Eat Free after 3pm which was a nice bonus. Good portions and reasonably priced.

We stopped by for a break on a long drive from Devon to Cornwall. The place was clean and had the feel of a good old-fashioned American Diner. The ladies who greeted us and served us were lovely and friendly. We only got tea to take out as the only bread they had was sourdough, which my partner unfortunately can't eat. The food did look nice, though 😋

We stopped here for dinner one evening during our family holiday near Seaton/Downderry. We'd visited a couple of years ago and said that we wouldn't return as it was so run down, but saw that it had been taken over by a different company and had been done up we thought we'd give it another go. The interior is so much better, really good job! The staff are lovely and friendly and really attentive, the food however was pretty basic but extremely expensive. For 3 of us to eat a main meal and dessert each, plus 5 drinks it was £93! The most we've ever paid for a meal out! We'd love to return but just couldn't afford it. Big shout out to Sadie who was really friendly and recommended a nice beach for us to visit.

Absolutely brilliant food and service provided! We were on holiday and had dinner twice as was so impressed with the standard of food & service. Decor was great and added to the experience.

We've eaten here twice now, and it's so lovely to find somewhere at a service station with a gluten free menu, dog friendly and a really good menu. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable about the menu/allergies etc - perfect for a stop off before heading into cornwall, and equally for their Tuesday pizza club in the week for locals. Highly recommend 👌
