Brightside Roadside Dining Exeter in Exeter

We decided to stop her for a spontaneous mother's day meal yesterday evening. Despite being in a services on a main road it is delightful. Some nice outdoor seating and really cute 1970s style diner done really well (it's owned by the Lounge chain). As a family of gluten free diners eating out can be a challenge but there was an amazing separate menu. Really delicious burgers, and ham, egg and chips. Will definitely be returning. Attentive and friendly staff with a special shout out to our server who had my youngest son in stitches. Will definitely be returning. Great if you're local or just visiting the south West.

Had a delicious fish and chips meal at Brightside, boyfriend loved his steak and eggs, all perfectly cooked. I see the owners are those clever people from Loungers and Cosy Club (my favourite chain), Brightside is going to do so well. Very clean and lovely staff too!

Cristiano and Jasmin gave brilliant service with a happy smile and prompt serving. The food was lovely…had breakfast and coffee & tea. Was lovely, hot, tasty and portion size was just right. Will definitely return. The whole place appeared to be “at ease” with no stress, no raised voices…just calm place to eat. Great

Best breakfast I’ve ever had. Lovely cheerful staff, fab decor. I originally didn’t want to go thinking it was a typical fast food motorway eatery but really glad I was persuaded to go. I had the smashed avocado toast. Delicious!!!!

Probably the tastiest breakfast we've ever had at a diner. The food was just so very good. I can't give it justice with words alone. You have to go there to experience the very best nosh and service.

Neil was a star, he was great and I couldn’t fault him! 10/10 ill be back on my trips past to Plymouth. Great food and great atmosphere!

Absolutely excellent breakfast. The food was delicious and the slow cooked tomatoes were superb. Staff were attentive and friendly. Dogs are welcome which is a bonus. We also thought it was very good value for the quality of food. Will defo be using Brightside again.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! WAITED AN HOUR TO FIND THEY HADN’T EVEN BEGUN COOKING OUT FOOD. If you’re looking for a quick stop on your travel this is not the place! Must have saw around 4 tables walk out along with us….

Hidden gem. Make sure you drive past McDonald's and eat here instead. The seventies decor was fun and the staff were fantastic. We had 2 all day breakfasts. The food was high quality and excellently cooked. Will definitely eat here again and happy to recommend to others.

Stopped off as needed a bit of lunch… chose this over McDonald’s next door and was so pleased I did. Proper food cooked to order and delivered to my table by friendly staff. Will use again when I’m in the area.

A welcome surprise. Simply excellent, could not fault it and the best breakfast that I have had for a very long time. I have been driving past this restaurant for years and finally stopped to test it out for breakfast. I have intolerances as all were catered for. It will now be a regular stop for me and looking forward to taking the family. Really impressed. 👏🏼

. The place was clean, welcoming, attentive staff, spotless toilets. We had BLTs and Americano coffees, far better than other service stations I’ve stopped at and it improved our journey.

Stopped at this cafe on A303 on way to Devon. Lovely friendly staff. Ordered breakfast, arrived quickly and was really hot and tasty. Definitely recommend to other travellers.

Retro vibe was relaxed, good music, excellent service and food was lush. Best kids burger in kids menu we’ve ever had. Milkshake was lush, breakfasts excellent and the cheesecake was incredible. Love the vibe. Will definitely be back. Thanks

The food was quite nice but the service really let the whole experience down. We were shown to a table and just ignored for half an hour. My partner then had to go up to the counter to ask if they could take our order to which the two servers argued to each other about who was going to take the order. 20 minutes later our food arrived. The food was pleasant but no check back was made until we had to get up and go to the counter to ask for the bill. It’s a shame as we would’ve ordered desserts but they didn’t come and ask us how the food was or if we wanted anything else - they could’ve made a bit of extra cash. One server was polishing cutlery and setting tables when there were customers waiting to be served. A bit of a let down really.

Sunday lunch of burgers, breakfasts and ice creams for the kids. The setting is convenient opposite the racecourse. Nice clean place with helpful staff. recommended.

Stopped off for breakfast on the return trip from a holiday and was delighted by this great diner. The decor is really retro and very cool. The food and service were excellent and the prices very reasonable. I had the big breakfast and my mate had pancakes. The food took a little while to arrive but this was a good thing. It was all freshly cooked and delicious. Local ingredients feature heavily on the menu and the staff obviously take great pride in the fare they serve up. I'd not only stop off here if passing again, I'd go out of my way to visit. The best experience I've had of roadside dining ever.

Ordered early riser and Brightside breakfast. Seemed a bit pricey for the content but appreciate things aren’t cheap nowadays. Very disappointed on arrival as we asked for well done bacon and it was burnt, poached egg had just a yolk and no egg white. We did get the egg replaced but why did they serve it like that anyway. Overall the food is not worth the money and wasn’t the best quality.. The staff were lovely to be fair but we didn’t feel like complaining as we were only there for a quick pit stop.

We visited for an impromptu lunch on Tuesday. Friendly and welcoming staff. Tasty food and very filling. Loved the decor and the music choice played in the background

Amazing veggie breakfast with fresh avocado and sourdough toast. Really unexpectedly very good. Lovely staff. Quality ingredients even garnished with fresh parsley.

This is a wonderful roadside diner…not a phrase I’ve ever written before! The aesthetic is pure 70s nostalgia whilst the food is 100% 2024. Excellent.

Visited another Brightside diner as we had a good experience before and this did not disappoint. Same excellent food, service and atmosphere, always great for a brunch. We will return to this brand!

Wanting to try somewhere new for breakfast we ventured to brightside knowing it was taken over in February when it used to be an American diner and not great! We were treated at the door by a friendly lady who showed us to our seat, we quickly ordered breakfast and there was great choice for the gluten free options Breakfast is superb quality! Herby sausage, maple honey bacon, the brightest of eggs and sour dough bread! To top it off the manager came and spoke with us sharing a bit or what she was about! This was as a result of us engaging not pushed on us in anyway! Really good experience made by quality food and great hosts, thank you

We had great food and great service at a reasonable price- nothing to grumble about- lovely staff who made us feel welcomed and checked all was ok- we both had the big breakfast which is served all day which was so great! Enjoyed the potato rostis and my husband is gluten free which was catered for really well.

First time at a Brightside diner with my husband and brother. Greeted warmly on arrival and menus quickly followed. My meal - Shepherds' hash - was very tasty, more so than I was expecting. The service was excellent throughout. One suggested improvement would be to improve on the cappuccino. One named waiter - Ryan - was particularly friendly. He has good people skills.

Extremely courteous staff. Lovely food, freshly prepared. We will definitely revisit. My grandson only wanted scrambled eggs on toast, which didn't feature on the menu but the staff were happy to oblige.

Food was fantastic. Service was top notch and we will be back for an evening meal next time. Very unique style and brings back that feeling of nostalgia.

Very disappointing, food was not as described menu says ham egg and supreme chips, I get given belly pork strip and frozen waffle fries, very dark and unappealing place

Car parking easy, nice and clean when you enter… ordering was easy. It was very busy when we entered and the food did take a long time in being cooked, but on saying that when it did arrive it was simple and tasty. The toilets are very clean which is a good sign. Now would I go again…….yes Would i recommend…… yes

We came for breakfast and where by super friendly staff. The booths are super comfortable and the 70/80’s feels is nicely nostalgic! The food came quickly and was delicious. Great ambience and great service
