The 1815 Bar was nice tight and clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately the meal was at the other end of the scale. My wife’s meal was just swimming in grease and my fish and chips (£19), was a frozen piece fish in batter. When you cut it all fat came out of it. They were both terrible. We both left about 3/4 of our meal. We did mention or complaint to the staff, but nothing happened. I notice that there are no recent reviews, maybe it has all changed since last year. I would say it does now not deserve the 4star review trip advisor shows and it should be recategorised as a 1 or at the most 2 stars.

Restaurant is clean, airy and full of light if you're not sat facing the back wall. Staff friendly but congregated at the back chatting, which is off putting when you're trying to eat. The menu sounded delicious.. the garlic prawn and sourdough was lovely.however the slow roasted lamb, 1 fatty sinued chewy leg slice about a centimeter thick needed another hour at least slow roasting... The piri piri chicken was tasty but again needed cooking longer as to fall off the bone not sawn off. The toilets were up a tall flight of stairs and had obviously not been checked recently as they were a mess. When so many staff seem to be hanging around or sat down, these are simple checks to be done regularly. It is NOT value for money.

08/10/22 Ordered our first takeaway from this restaurant and enjoyed a first class meal at home. We ordered on line during the early afternoon prior to the premises opening at 18.30 and selected a variety of dishes choosing delivery rather than collection. Our food arrived promptly at the selected time delivered by a smart friendly young man in a clean car. The food was piping hot and excellent. My wife and I both agreed we couldn't fault it. We have dined in the restaurant previously and enjoyed good food in pleasant surroundings in a very pleasant location at the side of the River Trent in Gunthorpe, Nottinghamshire.

Having stayed in Betws-y-Coed for four days I was relieved to discover Bridge. The menu featured both vegetables and fish items uncommon in the village unless one counts in the numerous fish, chips and mushy peas outlets. (Nothing wrong with fish of chips of course if one is in the mood.) My wife and I were conducted to a large airy dining room. It was comfortable enough but I was immediately worried by a shortage of fellow diners. Perhaps only 10 or 20% of the seats were occupied. Other restaurants in Betws-y-Coed were busy and at least one was fully booked. I sipped my wine as I waited for my lamb main course to be served. It was a fairly long wait and I might have become a little annoyed had beautiful smells not been emanating from the kitchen. When my dish finally arrived I quickly realised that it was well worth the wait. The meat was cooked perfectly as were the accompanying carrots, peas, and courgettes. A side dish of brocolli was also tasty. The lamb was presented with a sweetish gravy. I loved it. It might have contained a little redcurrant jelly. My pudding consisted of just a couple of scoops of icecream and three tiny meringues. It was a longish wait for my pudding as well. When it arrived I again realised it was down to the cooking. The meringues were sticky inside and still a little warm. How many chefs in Betws-y-Coed take the trouble to cook their meringues fresh? I have already booked a table for a return visit.

The mains were lovely my husband had the lamb & mini cottage pie which he raved about, I had chicken schnitzel which was nice. The place was a bit empty, no ones fault, so lacked atmosphere. The service is still developing with a number of new team members. Awen was very good, so hopefully the others will follow her lead. Would recommend and would return

Visited tonight on the last night of our holiday and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. I understand with what is going at the moment there are no tables set nicely so it looks more like a canteen but it had no atmosphere at all. A party of 3 we were sat at a table obviously meant for 2 so one of us was facing the wall, I did ask to move tables which they did thankfully. On ordering the lamb we were told it would be served pink.......that would have been nice but it was actually over cooked and to be honest all 3 meals must have been out in about 10 minutes so I would suggest that the lamb was cooked beforehand and maybe reheated along with the veg. The fish and chips were hot and the fish obviously freshly cooked. The 2 desserts were very nice though. No I didn’t complain when at the restaurant as to be honest I didn’t want to embarrass the staff or myself but at £92 it was a complete rip off and after other meals in Betws-y-coed where by far nicer and a better value I was very disappointed.

Having a few days away, we decided to eat at the hotel. Covid restrictions made for a strange atmosphere as the tables seemed very bare. Temperatures were taken and staff were all wearing mouthguards low on their faces, which looked more effective than the usual face shields. One of us had the Welsh lamb. This was delicious, as were the accompanying red cabbage and dauphinoise potatoes. The burger was very nice too, although the chips could have been a bit crispier. Reading the previous review, I can't help wondering whether those diners were suffering from the virus as everything on our plates was nicely cooked and tasty. The banoffee dessert was enormous and very enjoyable. The staff were efficient and attentive enough without rushing you. All-in-all a very pleasant meal though sadly missing a little something due to the current situation.

Started off by being seated in a swift manner, unfortunately like any other restaurant still having to adhere to covid rules. They also have a reduced menu at the time of writing. We began by ordering the olives and bread. This came promptly however... the bread was burnt and smelled like it had been handled by as 40 a day smoker. The other bread was a little like chewing a rubber band ball.. the addition of 'balsalmic' was a tiny bit uninspiring. As we are in Wales we then ordered the Welsh roast lamb with dauphinoise potatoes, red cabbage and veg. To be fair the presentation was nice, the taste didn't match. Nothing really tasted how it should. My girlfriend described the carrots as gone off and the green beans looked a little sad. The word awful was also thrown around for the cabbage. The lamb in parts was really nice, and in others really not. I finished my meal and I was starving after our hike and everywhere else was booked. My girlfrend didn't finish hers. Following this we chose not to get dessert.

We went to the Waterloo for an evening meal. There were 9 of us and got a large table. The restaurant is large and spacious, which is reassuring during Covid. The kids meals were good value and looked tasty. The adult meals were also delicious especially the lamb which was perfectly cooked. Even though it was quite busy the food didn’t take very long to come out. Nothing to complain about. Would return.

Unfortunately I had a bad experience at this restaurant. We rang to book a table in advance, sat down and a waitress came to take our order. She rudely asked if our order has been taken yet and proceeded to ask if we knew that they had no pizza left that evening. We ordered and our drinks came but from that point on was totally ignored for over an hour with no updates and no apology for the delay. We were not even asked if we wanted another drink. We waited and waited for our food to come and watched others in the restaurant have the same problem - making the atmosphere quite awkward and a little odd! It was not until another couple complained that we were acknowledged and a young man came to assure us he would find out where our food was. 10 minutes later, our food came out. We asked if we could have a free drink due to the wait - in which he agreed and kindly arranged this for us. The food was nice but by that point we were very much annoyed at the service and wait. Bad communication and service all round except from the young man who helped us out. We were in the restaurant for way longer than we wanted to be and were very upset that it had cut into our short break away as it did. I understand it is a tough time although it would have been so much better if we were not ignored!

Ordered from server and asked for tap water to drink. Food arrived in about 15 minutes, but had to re-ask for the water. Food was well presented and tasty.

Visited Sunday last , 2 pensioners 2 under 8’s,a vegan and a gluten-free. 5 of us chose the Sunday carvery .the leek and potato soup was absolutely delecious , as was the accompanying warm roll. The meats, choice of three were absolutely fine , but the vegetables, oh dear ...undercooked leeks in bechamel , well over cooked carrots, salty red cabbage , done to death Yorkshire’s and roast potatoes . gravy was acceptable. My son’s vegan main course ,was very crudely put together and underdone, to be fair, there wasn’t a vegan option on the menu , and chef “conjured up” a meal for him

We stopped here while on a tour, for a place to stretch our legs and have a bite to eat. It's a lovely picturesque place, even though it's quite commercial. We were here before the summer crowds, and had a chance to explore the area a little. Lots of hotels for the tourist trade, and loads of places to eat. The river meanders next to the main street, and offers some very pretty vantage points. Lunch at the hotel was interesting. We had no idea what was being served, so when a plate with a fresh salad and cold salmon was presented, along with fresh rolls, I thought it was an odd but interesting choice. Not all people like cold fish and I am not a huge salmon fan (caught way too much of it), but it was actually nicely done. When they cleared the plates away, we thought the main course was finished. We were surprised then, to be served a dinner plate with chicken, potatoes, carrots, stuffing and gravy. So we dove in and consumed as much as we could. It was followed by a dish of fresh strawberries and whipped, clotted cream. It was way more food than we needed, but was prepared well. Needless to say, we didn't have a huge dinner that night.

Great service. My girlfriend is allergic to onions and they were happy to cook it without for her. Had 2 fantastic steaks and a good bottle of wine. Can't ask for more. Staff were great :-)

We stayed for 1 night after the Betws trail race and it was great. We were allowed to check in early which was fantastic. The staff here are all lovely and always go out of their way to help. The lodge rooms are brilliant for families and very nice. The pool and and spa are a great bonus to have after a walk. In the restaurant the food is well prepared and very very nice. We love it here. Thanks

My husband and I decided to try the bar for lunch, as it is just outside the main tourist area, with good parking and a lot quieter. The menu covered everything from pizzas to roast dinners and our meals were extremely good, well cooked and presented. When my meal was placed before me I realised that I had forgotten to bring my insulin, and so had to send back a lot of the beautifully cooked linguini uneaten with my apologies to the chef. I was amazed when he appeared at my side to offer me an insulin pen and needle, after the waitress had passed my message on. That was very much appreciated. All your staff were very courteous and polite and made our visit memorable. Chef, thank you, your help was great, as it meant I could enjoy my fantastic tiramisu guilt free. My husband really enjoyed his meal and dessert as well.

The Bridge Restaurant was a very pleasant surprise, A walk in the dark on a damp night when all else in Betws-y-coed was quiet. The staff were welcoming and the restaurant was nicely decorated and well set out.The food was excellent clearly prepared by a chef who knows what they are all about. The produce was great and treated with care - portions were generous and value for money. Wine and other drink choices were good.

I came here a few weeks back with my family. The food was excellent. I normally go for fish snd chips but I decided to order from the specials menu. I even asked my server for a recommendation. Even she couldnt decide . I had a chicken salad for starters and I had a gammon for my main. The portion sizes were EXCELLENT! We didn't have room for dessert so we asked our waitress for coffee instead. I couldn't fault a thing. Thank you Alice for your wonderful humour and welcoming behaviour ! We hope to see you and the Waterloo very soon!

I couldn't fault the Sunday lunch here at all. I would give full marks but my husband always tells me nothing should have full marks, always room for improvement! In this instance I'm not sure what they could improve on. Venue very pleasant, Staff all attentive. Produce fresh and perfectly cooked. Choice, plenty. Carrots tasting of carrot which is a miracle in itself these days! Gravy to die for. I hasten to add all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our experience here and if we are ever back in the area we will be returning (oh and if one serving isn't enough I did notice others going up for seconds. I'd say you have to have an exceptional appetite to do that though!) Thanks to the Chef and all the lovely Staff at Bridge Restaurant it was a perfect ending to a perfect weekend at Betws-y-Coed

We stayed here in October half term last year. We had booked this hotel as it showed on the Great Western Hotels site so had a rough idea of what to expect. Imagine our surprise when we find out it isn't a member of that group! The accommodation was in lodges in the grounds, which were nicely equipped for us as a family, no problems there at all. The food served in the restaurant was very good indeed, as were the breakfasts! The only issue we really had was with the swimming pool (which was why I chose this hotel). On the first night we went to use the pool, upon arrival their were other guest families using it and causing a lot of nuisance, no 3 year old likes being targeted for splashing and dive-bombing. No on poolside to supervise. The pool itself was very cold and I'm afraid we didn't use it again. However the actual hotel was lovely and for that we would stay again.

They said not a problem and booked the table for us and emailed me a copy of the menu.We turned up and they had booked the back room out for us and and set the tables up beautifully.I thought getting 37 different main meals coming out at the same time was a mean feat but they delivered and some!! All meals were well presented, hot and lovely. Every single person commented on how lovely the food was and it was!!The waiting staff were lovely in particular Becca Lloyd who went above and beyond.Thank you so much to all involved it an was amazing experience and we will be back!!

Travelled here with some friends to climb snowdon, but us Londoners were not prepared for the early closing times of around 8:30pm in the local restaurants. In a mad rush to find food we called here (2 of our friends were staying). Rebecca was extremely helpful and speedy in finding us a table for 6. She and the staff were very welcoming and even though they were near to closing we received amazing customer service from the staff. The food was amazing and had a good selection. Great drinks too and I would love to return. The atmosphere was lovely for dinner and j would recommend you to go here if you stay in the area. Keep in mind the closing times ;-)

Welcoming staff and nice surroundings with outside seating weather permitting. We had the trio of pork which was really delicious. The tiramisu was a bit heavy with too much cream and not quite enough flavour, However everyone's taste is different. Would certainly eat there again if in the area

Wonderful setting too. Highly recommended.

We stayed in the hotel for a week and were never disappointed with the food other than that they only did the king prawn and chorizo risotto just the once. If you are there and it is on the menu, have it!! But don't order starters as it is amazingly rich and you will not be able to eat much else afterwards.

It was my first visit, for a family Sunday dinner with my new mother in law. The staff were very friendly, polite, the restaurant was bright and airy thanks to a large conservatory making the most of the sunlight, even though it was heavy drizzle and cloud outside. There was a mix of customers, locals, tourists, couples and families. We had a starter and a carvery main, all beautifully presented and very tasty - the lamb was thick cut and pink, and so tender it melted in your mouth. I'd definitely go again.

Looking for an evening meal for two we accepted a recommendation to try The Bridge Restaurant in the Waterloo Hotel. I think eating should be as much an emotional experience as a tasteful one. The first impression of this restaurant was one of modern style. A large room, clean cut lines and an interesting decorative effect from a wall of angled mirrors. However it lacked that welcoming spiritual warmth. It also lacked customers (which may be the resultant effect) There were some, like ourselves, but they were widely scattered. The night before we were in the Royal Oak, just up the Road and the place was buzzing! Perhaps a bit of commercial spying is necessary to assess the comparison. The food was OK but nothing special and we only stopped for the main course. However a major disappointment for me was the unimpressive choice of drinks. I was looking forward to a pint of local beer, preferably real ale. The waitress was unsure what they had and went to ask. Surprisingly there was no local beer of any kind offered. There were only four pints on offer, all well known, but rather standard, national brands. An Irish stout, a German lager, An English bitter and a cider. (Compare that to lunch in Capel Currig with a choice of 4 pumps of local beers, etc. etc.) The Waterloo Hotel needs to look to what it offers if it wants to increase its customer base.

Delicious food and staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We arrived for lunch in a fluster with a hungry baby and an elderly dog on a very wet Tuesday. From the moment we walked in the lobby the staff were lovely, finding us a table in a suitable area and giving us the time and space to get sorted. There was no hurry to order and they bought us coffee and water to heat the baby’s food before we ordered. Once calm was restored and we ordered the service continued to impress and the food was delicious and fairly priced. Credit to all at the hotel.

2 of the main courses were unavailable. The vegetables for the lamb course were unavailable. Alternative vegetables were given which were undercooked and cold. Potato was tasteless and cold . Did mention it to waiter whose response was sorry. £24 for a piece of lamb is unacceptable as I didn't eat the vegetables or potatoes.

Eight adults booked a table here last Wednesday and from the second we stepped into the place we were in love with it. The elegance and charm were extraordinary. Then came the 3 course meal ! Everybody raved about every course. The service was impeccable and if I lived nearer I’d be a regular! Cannot fault one detail .
