Bridge End Hotel in Denbighshire

Absolutely wonderful since the refurbishment. Food was excellent and good value, bar service exceptional especially from Paris

We booked a table over the phone one week before we travelled.. for Saturday 12th October we asked for 5pm but were told they could only do 5.15pm which we gladly accepted. We arrived and spoke to the Lady at the desk saying we had a booking for 5.15.. she trawled the pages .. but NOTHING !! To her credit she did organise tables fairly quickly to seat eleven of us. Here began the slippery slope, the service was very poor. All food arriving at different times, Plates slatted down onto tables like the whole thing was a damned inconvenience, one waitress was asked for additional drinks for the children within our group, returned several times to the table with no drinks. Shortly followed by another waitress asking would anyone like more drinks ? On one occasion I asked for another pint of that ...pointing to the label on my glass with the remains of an IPA .. the drink she retuned with was in a completely different glass and was a completely different colour and not the same drink.. Plates and glasses were removed from the table at the wrong times, some glasses still containing drinks . Having being instructed to collect the Serviettes and cutlery from the tables ... they did ... But the used serviettes and cutlery ... The instruction was clearly the remove the now empty vessels that had contained those items prior to use.. Shortly after to bring over new freshly filled versions.. which were plonked with a thud on the tables by an obviously disgruntled waitress.. shortly after again having been corrected they were collected and removed by a now at the end of her tether waitress... We chatted to a lovely couple we had met on a nearby table, who told us they had made their booking 24hrs earlier but like us were told on arrival they had no reservation. That conversation was interrupted by the team leader asking if they were ready to order, when they asked for a couple of minutes were told, "We are on a tight schedule so I need to hurry you along" The whole thing was a very disorganised mess , with a complete lack of leadership. The Hospitality industry is allegedly on its knees guys, don't fall by the way side , Take the time to train the staff and I'm sure it will pay dividends because the décor was lovely, location is lovely and without exception we all thoroughly enjoyed the food.. so well done to the Chef. A 50th Birthday meal to be remembered for all the wrong reasons.... OUCH !!

Stayed here after the refurbishment and we had an amazing time, the room was beautiful had the best nights sleep ever and the service and food were top quality. Will definitely be back

We went to the bar, not restaurant, mid afternoon. Attentive staff. Fair prices. Clean, spacious and modernised in a comfortable way. Would be interested in returning to stay in rooms.

Had a steak meal and gammon meal here both very very nice ..nice pub inside and out..it was getting refurbished the day after we had been..will be going back for a nose and for food again..barman really nice cant remember his name..he used to work in the pheasant inn..pleasant chatty guy😃

Have eaten here 3 times since new couple took over. Fabulous food. Cooked with care and pride by a proper chef. Good quality food. A real gem.

Wouldn’t recommend here at all purely down to one lazy server. We got to the pub at 7pm yesterday we were greeted by two lovely bar tenders who quickly sorted us a drink and explained a server named Charlotte would have us seated. After half an hour I started to become uncomfortable. The man on the bar said he would chase Charlotte up another 10 minutes she rudely pushes past us to get to the kitchen, and then refuses to acknowledge us. We carried on standing and being patient when another customer or maybe manager on a break storms over to Charlotte and tells her we’ve been waiting ages and it was acceptable. Charlotte then rudely comes over to us tells us there’s an hour wait on food and whether we wanted to stay or not her attitude clearly couldn’t be arsed to serve. We accepted the hour wait on food remained polite and asked to be seated. Charlotte sits us down and riddles explains how she won’t be taking our order for at least an hour which confuses me as she could take our order and send it to the kitchen and we would wait however long it would take. She’s extremely rude and storms off we appreciate there may have been a wait but the restaurant was barely even full there was around 5 empty tables she just gave us the impression she couldn’t be bothered. So we decided to leave we appreciate there may be a wait but her entire attitude made us leave what was a lovely pub and lovely bar staff not sure what her issue was with us but there clearly was one. And we didn’t even complain once again as we didn’t want to inconvenience anyone. So to whoever reads this from the hotel please train Charlotte on how to speak to people like human beings before you lose more customers

Didn’t eat here because straight away we were met with £9.80 for a glass of wine! Why oh why do people charge extortionate prices for wine when beer, wine etc is at a normal price.

Not the greatest experience. Its a pub with very average food. Price are low, seems to be quite popular right on the bridge in Llangollen.

We didn't eat here, only used the pub, but it was lovely and definately worth a visit (or 2!) The decor was nice, the staff were friendly, there was a good selection of drinks and music, all in all we liked the place very much. Highly recommended.

We were on a day trip to Llangollen and were looking for somewhere to have lunch We came here as it looked so lovely and after seeing the menu we were glad we had We both had the steak meal which was cooked to perfection as my girlfriend wanted medium and I wanted medium rare - the chef bought them out to make sure we were happy ( and we were )No time for dessert but managed a couple of drinks Would definitely return

Stopped here for a lunch with a dog. I think what was the car park turned into an outdoors eating/drinking area which was perfect for us. We just had burgers and drinks and found it good value for money and ample amount of food (served in an enviro friendly cardboard box). Ordered on the app, very small menu but order was spot on and staff exceptionally lovely making sure the dog was looked after with water too. Hope to visit again this holiday.

Stopped here for some lunch, beer was good and so was food. Had a long wait, which were told it could be, but it didn’t seem busy ie lots of empty tables. Pub interior seemed a bit sparse in all honesty, and in need of a bit of TLC.

Enjoyed a couple of drinks on the front people watching. Then roast smelt so delicious had to sample one. Opted for roast beef and my was there plenty of it !! Roast potatoes lovely cauliflower green beans and broccoli and an amazing Yorkshire pudding. I’m a fussy eater the gravy was a tad thin for me but didn’t spoil the meal all the same. And I would return here again. 9.95 per person was quite reasonable in my opinion. Young bar lad was very friendly a credit to your establishment.

This is the first out you come to if you've walked from the Chainbridge hotel down the tow path into Llangollen which is a lovely walk. We choose a selection of small plates, halloumi chips, chicken bites, etc along with a couple of drinks. The menu was varied and service was quick. The chef even came out with chicken pieces for the dog. All covid requirements were being met and overall the service plus food was good.

Another greet pub in town which has suffered with covid and hopefully. Staff very good ( including the landlady ) but can be quite sharp if you dont follow the rules

If you like Robinson ales then you will like this place. Took care with Covid rules and staff were pleasant

Stayed at the Bridge End Hotel for three nights from 23/02/20 following our Granddaughters Christening. Small car park but we found a space and the car stayed put until we came home! Arrived at a very busy time due to a 6 Nations rugby game but we were able to check in with our two dogs reasonably quickly. The only problem with the hotel is two flights of stairs, Annie & Lily managed easily enough but us humans struggled! We were offered Sunday lunch but declined as we had food at the Christening. Breakfast was extra and we decided to stay in bed! Staff were friendly and informative and drinks prices were no dearer than elsewhere. Dog friendly and Sky / BT sports. Unfortunately, due to the stairs we are unlikely to stay again. That is not the hotel's fault but my wife struggles with stairs! Otherwise an excellent stay.Mike Hull / Susan Hawkins

Came here for Sunday late lunch - didn't realise they stopped serving at 5pm and we arrived at 4:55 but the two of us were accommodated and the roast was delicious. Plenty of roast beef, crisp roast potatoes and extra gravy.It is only a pity that dogs are only allowed in the bar area. The bar gets very busy and noisy as there is usually sport on the TV and even if there were space to sit (which there wasn't when we went) I don't want to sit and eat my Sunday lunch with all the football roaring and cheering going on and the dog wouldn't like it either. It would be great to have another part of the restaurant set aside for dogs.

I booked this Hotel for its location. But it was far better than just a location. Our room has a stunning view over Llangollen. It has recently been redecorated. Plus new bed etc. The room is warm, cosy and comfortable. The breakfast superb. Brilliant for us vegetarian. With plenty of choice of yogurts, cereals, juices and a full English or Welsh Breakfast. New Owners very warm and welcoming. We will defiantly book again next time we visit llangollen.Wendy and Michael

Shower leaked, black windows and slithers of glass on the carpet by the window. Loud springs on the bed. The only good thing was it was in a good location. The views would have been good if we could have seen through the windows.

Great food. Good service. Was here for Sunday early evening. Was just what we needed We had pork and apple bap which was amazing. Lovely warming welcoming pub. Was here with about 10 people which they were great with.

Callled in on a Tuesday afternoon after a long walk.The beer was superb and a snack of toast, pate & salad was excellent, which prompted us to take a look at the restaurant for the evening, the restaurant looked nice and we spoke to the chef who was a nice guy but told us there was no food on that evening. Pity, but will try again another time. Full marks for the beer and snack.

We arranged to go to the Bridge inn for tea as we were in Llangollen later than we usually are (lunch time) and weren't expecting our usual haunts to be open, on arriving in Llangollen,they were but we thought we would stick to the plan and try the Bridge, we were really pleasantly surprised! The food was nice pub grub freshly made and at a very reasonable price, The lady serving us was lovely and the chef made a couple of appearances to serve and do a check back. We all ordered a home made pud and the cheesecake was lovely! We all enjoyed our dishes which were:Steak pieCheese and ham omelette Chicken linguine Sticky toffee puddingLemon spongeLemon cheesecake The chips were homemade and very nice !Would definitely eat here again.

Food was so terrible, we didn’t even attempt to eat it. We asked for a refund and were given one immediately with no quibbling. Barman said the management was changing and they were aware there were problems with the food. They need someone who can cook or to have closed while they sorted things out.

We went in for a family meal on Saturday with 4 adults and 2 young children, the food came quickly and was really nice, Beef and Guinness pie was cracking. friendly staff and the prices were fine.. nice pub inside looked recently decorated but in old fashioned style tastefully done.

Stopped here for Sunday lunch, bar full of iokals singing to 80s music at 11.45 am. Ordered lunch and waited 45 minutes, only us and two other tables there. Food came out stone cold, the Sunday lunch was was a joke, bland. One young lad serving the food and the view into the kitchen was enough to make you throw up. Never again, avoid the place.

Booked a table for 3pm, arrived early due to the weather, we were seated without any problem.

A very strange experience here, we were considering dinner, but they stopped serving at 5pm ?? The atmosphere inside is dated and tatty, the bar staff were not particularly friendly. On the plus side, a good selection of beers.

We had an excellent meal here on Saturday night. We were a large party and all the food arrived together and was excellent. Great value too. Only downside was when a local got served ahead of tourists at the bar - bit disappointing.

Called in for a drink whisky around there. Nice enough, was a football game in in the pub, we sat in the quieter restaurant bit to relax and unwind.

We enjoyed drinks on Bank Holiday Saturday at The Bridge End. The place was packed,however the service was fast,and we managed to get a nice outside table,and watched the world go by.

Visited on Sunday Feb 17th. Thought I'd treat myself to the chef's special of chili and rice. Big mistake! £10 for something that I could have bought in Aldi for £3 at far better quality and larger portion. Will not visit again!

Comfortable friendly pub with good food. Less crowded on busy days in Llangollen and short distance from Canal and beginning of the walk up Dinas Bran.

Nice meal for four, two adults and two teenager. Four clean plates at the end. Nice food, good price.

We tried to dine here yesterday, but on asking the lady at the bar if we could have a table for 2, she shouted the question to another woman who simply said “no”! They both then just walked off. Very rude.

Was in Llangollen for the weekend and after a 2hr trip on the horsedrawn boat trip we was hungry so called in by chance.

Visited on a Friday night. The bar area was busy but we found a seat and conversation flowed around the pub and they made a fuss of our 2 greyhounds. The food was home cooked and good value. The cheeseburger had real cheese on it and the vegan sweet potato curry was really nice. The beer was from the Robinsons range and well kept

Lovely friendly staff and meals came promptly. Hubby had rib eye steak which was perfect and I had a gorgous st davids chicken and bacon in cheese and leak sauce. too many onions for hubby and too many peas for me though. hubby,s chips and my wedges were perfect and meal was piping hot even at the last mouthful. we really enjoyed every bit of itl. the only thing I did,nt like was the chipped dish that my chicken came in. the pub was a lovely airy and comfortable atmosphere and very clean. When a table became empty the girls cleared and cleaned the tables straight away. this is the 3rd time we have eaten here and would highly recommend it.

Ordered a jacket potato with cheese. Result was an overdone potato with burnt skin, the latter usually associated with carcinogenic acrylamide. Hiding underneath the top layer of cheese were loads of baked beans. I had not asked for these, knowing that usually baked beans are strongly adulterated with unecessary sugar - the latter encouraging Type-2 Diabetes. There was very little salad with the potato. Admittedly, this was the first night the restaurant had opened after closing for two days because of not having a chef. However, my experience, at the end of a nice time in Llangollen, was very disappointing. This was sadly an unfortunate experience.

Decided to eat here for our evening meal, we were slightly put off by the drinkers standing outside as it was very noisy but when inside it was ok. We both chose the St. Davids chicken and this was delicious we were served by friendly staff and if in this area again we would return.

Good ales , not the best place in town , just in a good spot.i would go in for a beer , sit on the outside seating area if their are not too many inconsiderate smokers , & admire the world going bye.

The Bridge is just across the road from the main street and was a little quieter and more relaxed than some. The pub itself is nicely decorated, clean and the staff were very good. The food was above average for 'pub grub' and the portions were generous and all 7 of our party were pleased with their meals. The review is purely based on the pub as we did not stay here, we were on a canal boat holiday.

This pub had a comfortable atmosphere in the late afternoon when we went in for a drink. The restrooms were very well presented. Drinking straws available - yay!

I found this hotel online looking for a hotel that was close to a bus stop, train stops, or activities. It is 20 minutes by bus from the closest train station-Ruabon. The #5 bus does not go to the train station but a nice local person posted a sign to walk down to Station Rd.

We used this pub twice in one day having arrived in Llangollen at lunchtime. The staff are exceptionally welcoming and friendly. Great Robinson’s beer and the food looked good as well.

We drank here on Saturday night and staff were really friendly. We then came back for Sunday Lunch which was very reasonably priced and nice. Sat outside and it is a sun trap. Lovely pub.

Only popped in for a pint but was lovely and clean, interesting pictures on the wall and just an all round pleasant pub. Didn't have food on this occasion but would certainly consider next time.

Stayed a few nights for business and liked it for near to town and heritage railway, not too much to stay in the main town for if just shopping but this Is good place to stay and have food and drink. Need to stay again in winter as quieter time so more availability to stay.

Nice staf especially Sian on the bar,one staff member with purple hair wasn't very customer friendly and was actually quite rude....basic room which wasn't very clean ...all empty shower bottles left from previous guess left on shelf in bathroom bedding sheet clean but throws on top lacked lustre and not appealing..shower not powerful.. lack of parking .Lovely and warm rooms ,beautiful views .Strong smell of damp on corridor leading to the rooms.It was ok but I wouldn't stay again

Spent an hour here nice staff cold beer and a good atmosphere great location on the edge of town a two minute walk from more pubs and cafe's

Decided on the spur of the minute to visit Bridge End for an evening meal - the menu was excellent with a great range of food on offer - the food came and was lovely - very tasty, well presented and great value for money too!

This is a nice establishment with good honest meals. The landlady was a little techy on both our visits and...

Always appeared busy. Reasonable priced bar. Good covered area outside for smokers. Didn't eat here so cant comment on that.

Nice Olde pub with B&B;, fine good ales and beers and good pub grub which all looks home made and not "lasagne ding" like you get at some places.

Had a few drinks here on the sunday before the bank holiday, it has recently been refurbished and looks great. Prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was very good, the menu looked great but we had already eaten.

Just came in here for drinks great little pub they also have sport on if you enjoy that. They do food but we didn't have any but what we saw of it it looked lovely. Reasonably prices too would recommend

Nicest Sunday Roast in a long time ... lovely food great friendly service even though it was very busy. Happy for us to sit in corner of bar area with dogs. Recommended.

Clearly got the staff on a bad night, tried to engage in a conversation, barmaid very rude, turned her back and walked away. Quickest drink we have ever had. Will not be retuning and when we discussed it with some locals in another pub, they said, 'ah she is always like that' Nice, not!

A well kept pint and a good choice of menu. A large group of friends and we were all well fed and watered here.

We usually stop here for a drink on our visits to Llangollen but this time friends had booked a table for a meal . The first thing you notice is the smell of sewage coming from the kitchen area!!! We ordered our meals the week before because of the size of our party but still things didn't go to plan with some of us finishing our meals before others even had theirs. I ordered a steak with salad and it was shocking, My steak was over cooked and apart from lettuce and onion my salad didn't contain much more.. I won't be eating here again.

We came here yesterday we had a drink and waited half an hour till they started serving food at 5pm as we realy liked the menu. We ordered some starters which were OK nothing special however we should have realised then at the fact that they were in no way home made that the lamb shanks we ordered for mains were going to be a let down, and so they were. The worst lamb shank we have ever had! Somthing we always choose when we see it on a menu so somthing we have often. To start the gravy the lamb shank was sat in had a film over it which made us think straight away 'mirowaved'. Then the meat its self you couldn't even get off the bone?! Literally could not cut it, it was so full of fat and gristle... lamb shank is just supposed to fall off the bone!When the lady came to take the plates she didn't ask how the meal was she just said 'oh has it beaten you' (we didn't eat any of it) to which we replied 'yes it has as it's just so fatty and we can't eat it, it's the worst we ever had' she just said 'Oh dear' and walked off... what was worse is that she never even came back for the 2nd plate! She was clearly embarrassed by the food they serve. We sat there for 5 mins to see if she'd come back offer us a refund or somthing but no. So we got up and left. Shame they make you pay at the bar before you eat otherwise there was absolutely no way I would have paid for that.So upset with this place we had been out walking all day and we're starving and realy looking forward to our dinner, what a waste of £40.Food crap and staff that could not careless... what a shame.

The family...all 10 of us, invaded the restaurant with no previous booking.... and tables were put together to accomodate our large party with no trouble at all. The food was fabulous and the Christmassy atmosphere was so lovely. We always eat here when we come to Llangollen......we love it!!

Always excellent service, nothing is to much trouble very clean and great rooms with a view if requested.At one point the staff came from behind the busy bar to open the front doors so that i could go outside with my drinks, its the attention to such small detail's that really makes the difference.Possibly had one of the best steaks to date Cant wait to go back it was a break we needed, and we certainly got that

felt that stranger stare from the locals as we walked in, chose a table in a quiet corner and ordered. staff serving the food were very pleasant and friendly. food was average. i had chicken which unfortunately was almost inedible as it was dry and had no taste. would not recomend a meal there

Cozy hotel with basic rooms. Great location, by the river/railway. The bar/restaurant was very popular, with a good range of reasonably priced food.

Value for money , fantastic choice of roasts on Sunday...liberal amounts of tasty meat and veggies served up in separate dishes...their carrots made me fall back in love with the vegetable. Puddings good old fashioned treacle sponge etc ...friendly staff and served all day

The pub is very cozy, right in the center of Llangollen. The food is promptly served, the portions are for my taste a little too big but for others this would probably be a positive aspect. They serve the probably best kidney pie in Llangollen. Very authentic. We'll visit again for sure.

The pub area looked a bit dated but the restaurant area was more up to date. We found this venue to be both child and dog friendly. The staff were very welcoming and friendly too. The food was just basic pub food but was great value.

I visited the Bridge End hotel in July 2016 and was immediately impressed by the warm welcome and family feel to this hotel. The rooms were clean, none of this stingy towel nonsense and plenty of tea and coffee making facilities. The food was nice and the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. It was a lovely relaxing time and is set in the heart of the town. Visiting again next month! Can't go wrong :-)

As every year we turned up and decided we were going to the bridge end hotel for lunch as its tried and tested for us. On arrival to a very busy pub as football was playing we also found food service was busy too the lovely lady who served us and took the food order explained there would be up to half an hour's wait which we were not at all bothered by and decided to stay, I am very impressed when eateries do this and are honest about any waiting times she took our order quickly and we sat down with a drink.Honestly the food was out within about 15 minutes so not as much of a wait as we were informed which was a bonus my meal was a good size cooked as I asked and piping hot so we're everyone else's meals the girl that served us was extremely friendly indeed. It is well with a visit here if you want a nice meal at very reasonable prices with a friendly atmosphere.

We had the Sunday lunch, there were 3 in our group so we had Turkey, Roast beef and Lamb all were very tasty. The veg is good and plenty of gravy served with the meal, meals delivered hot cannot think of anything bad, would make a special trip to eat there.

We ate at the Bridge End Hotel one evening whilst staying the other side of the bridge at the Royal Hotel. Bridge End Hotel seemed very much like a "local's" pub with a friendly, busy atmosphere. We ate in the restaurant section and were able to book a table, howeve the menu was the same as the bar menu and we had to order at the bar. There was not much atmosphere in the restaurant and there was a lot of noise from the bar area.

Great value and quality food and service plus good beer. A thoroughly well-run pub which is ideally located if you are dining either side of a visit to the railway.

Great food choice, lovely surroundings, a nice clean friendly environment, excellent service and it didn't cost the earth, we will definitely go back there, top place!!

Walked in, pointed to the area where there were tables, each of which (amazingly out of so many) were sticky, uncleaned (covered in salt, grime or food) or looked like they had recently been picked up from a pound jumble sale. The chairs were something you would not want to sit on in fear that something may stick to you (with all sorts of unknown substances lingering on them - we checked over 10 of the tables), once I could bear to sit at one, the menu was also sticky all over - hence leaving and going to a restaurant opposite.

Called in by chance and enjoyed some excellent draft beer with a good pub lunch. Good welcome lovely atmosphere and good service.

We where traveling home and because of the weather we decided to stop and have a break in Llangollen and found this nice hotel at the top of the town and decided to have a drink which turn into a very good meal after seeing the level of food coming out of the kitchen for other people So we found a table sat down looked at there menu and ordered

I visited with a group of about 15 people. The restaurant was separate from the main Bar which was showing the England v Wales rugby match. This gave a lively atmosphere, which personally, I enjoyed. The menu was varied and everyone had pre ordered. I had trout with almonds which was delicious and nicely cooked. The dessert menu was pretty basic, but each dessert was only £4.00 which is a lot less than I would normally expect to pay in my home area. I didn't drink alcohol, as I was driving, but I would say the meal was good value.

We went as a party of 12 so reserved a table and they sent through a menu before and we pre-ordered starters and mains.Table all set up and ready and on a busy Saturday night - with the bar area packed. Everyone enjoyed their selection, and the puddings that followed. All meals very good value for money with decent portions.Staff were helpful and accommodating.The restaurant area is separate from the bar so we could all talkAll in all a very successful and enjoyable night out.

Huge portions, tasty foo. Very accomadtive of my 2 year old and I liked thT the bar was seperate for adults.

Had lunch here at a very busy time of day, and unfortunately paid the price as our wait for food was very long, and when it came wasn't really worth the wait.Very average microwave food with frozen awful chips, and having looked around the restaurant pretty well everybody as well as us had left their chips uneaten. Lasagne was like rubber and the Kiev was very dry, we would not revisit.

Stopped here to have an evening drink with the hubby, friendly quick bar staff. Toilets very clean. As a smoker, I was delighted to find benches outside, were we could have an evening drink & watch the world go past.

This pub is a lovely place to go great atmosphere and the food is great and very reasonably priced always friendly staff that are happy to help, the food is always piping hot and very well presented.

My partner and I go here every Sunday for a roast having tried many places over the years. They're roast meat is to die for, perfectly cooked and the veg is served separately as is the gravy. Many times we have come out waddling having over eaten lol. The only part of the meal we don't like is the roast potatoes, they're too big would rather have two small roasties.The only major problem is parking, the hotel has a ver small car park which is for residents only, so you have to try in Llangollen itself, this can take up to 40 mins to find a place!

We had Sunday lunch here, they offered smaller portions for OAPs which was great for my parents. Normal portions were huge and the meat was lovely tasting. Our only criticism was that is was not as warm as we would have liked, they did take the food back to warm up, but it didn't come back much warmer..
