This establishment was recommended to me by a friend for my Birthday lunch. Our whole experience was excellent, from the communication before our visit (had to keep changing elements and asked lots of questions) through to the day when we were greeted warmly, the attention to detail was great and we had a lovely afternoon. Our waiting staff member was excellent - attentive, friendly and huge fun (shame she was retiring that day). She was extremely helpful and made suggestions to enhance our lunch (we all had the Sunday roasts at £26 for 2 courses). We booked the snug room and the acoustics in there are great so we could all hear each other without a lot of background noise. Both courses were presented beautifully and were very tasty. We moved into the garden at the end of our table booking slot and staff helped us move our drinks and bottles of wine. All our guests were impressed and we will all be back. Cannot believe we have only just discovered this restaurant. It is in a woodland area and very pretty with great decor and ambience. This place with their great menu will become our new 'go to' restaurant.

Callum and the team at the Brickmakers did a superb job catering for 25 hungry walkers. We'd placed an advanced food order 3 days before and booked our time slot but it was still impressive how all the food was delivered at the same time and to such a high standard. I asked my rambling group later if everyone had enjoyed their meal and it was 100% agreed the food had been delicious. The serving staff seemed 'on it' with their attentiveness and manner. The range of food on the menu is admirable including the vegetarian options. Despite the pub being by a busy main road the interior is welcoming with a light and airy feel. We spent a full 2h there having indulged in desserts too. I'd thoroughly recommend the Brickmakers as a place to eat/drink.

Much better than the norm for pub food, as my rating implies. I had the Devonshire Crab (from the specials) which was beautiful and a 'special' banoffee dessert (fabulous) . The others on the table had equally great food. Our waitress was efficient with a great sense of humour. She went that extra mile to make our visit special. We will definately visit again soon

We came here at the weekend for dinner, our first visit since its refurb over the summer. First impressions were good- the layout has not changed but clearly the restaurant part has had a hefty makeover. The place was very busy and had a really nice vibe to it, definitely a slightly older crowd. We sat in the small nook area to the right of the bar, which was a little more relaxed. Food was excellent - I highly recommend the chicken schnitzel with gnocci and mushroom sauce, it was excellent. My wifes seabass was also very good indeed. Lots of decent beer choice too, with reasonably priced cocktails available. Staff were friendly, attentive and numerous. Pricewise, it was definitely cheaper than previous incarnations of the restaurant, very reasonably priced - similar level to the nearby Surrey Cricketers. We really enjoyed our experience here, and will definitely be coming back!

Popped in today for a late lunch as we had a couple of hours to spare.. arrived at 14:15 and the garden was fairly busy.., ordered drinks after summoning someone to serve us… after that it took at least 25 mins to get a drink… service was just very average, no real urgency and there was plenty of staff around.. food wasn’t great either, my wife’s monkfish was warm ish and my steak was underwhelming.. i expected a lot better but it just seemed tired and average.. if the mgr needs more feedback please contact me

Great food, great pub, attentive staff. Good transformation from the previous establishment- look forward to dining indoors. The covered garden at the back looks beautiful and very well done. Good seating at the front of the building also. Recommend Steak tartare and the chicken and chips.

Without doubt this is the best local Italian restaurant in the area. The food the atmosphere the staff everything tip top. Every meal always absolutely delicious, please do yourself a favour and get involved and soon you'll wonder why you have lived this long without becoming a regular visitor there. Five stars all the way. I dine in, I get takeaway and they never let me down. Big love for this establishment. Dinner, lunch, you name it, always fabulous.

Had a wonderful time, lovely service from Katie and the team. Will go again, food was delicious, more than enough to go again. Highlights were prawns, paella, and sauce from the meatballs. Outside small dining area I saw was super cute. Great ambiance, always busy. Thanks!

After many stays at Penny Hill we finally splurged and dined at the Latymer. We are glad we did. The restaurant has a Michelin Star so the expectations were high. We had the seafood prix-fix offering. The starters were all delicious and creative. My wife and I agreed that the sea bass and scallops were first rate. Regretfull, the crab was fishy and the John Dory seemed overcooked and relatively bland. All the desserts were winners in my book. My wife is not a huge pastry fan so one of the offerings fell short for her. The service was classic Michelin star quality. The team was professional, friendly and crisp without the slightest bit of stuffiness. The sommelier was a total pro. We commented on but did not order a wine from our hometown, and he later treated us to a glass so we could try it. We love that. Also, the young woman who served our cheese course was a delight. The decor of the dining area is going for an old English estate county feel. And while the decor nails the look, it felt a touch dated and could use a refresh. As one would expect, the experience comes at a price, but we knew that going in, so I’m not complaining. The meal took over three hours but the time seemed to fly by, a good sign. In the world of fine dining, there are Michelin starred places I would never revisit, there are ones I’d revisit if invited, and ones I’d rush back to (Amalie in San Sebastián and the 2010’s Guy Savoy in Paris come to mind.). We are happy we tried The Latymer, we had a memorable experience, but we would honestly not rush back.
