Brewhouse and Kitchen in Portsmouth

Helpful staff, possibly a bit stand-offish. Shame the beef and pork roasts had run out, but we enjoyed our food. Liked the ambience. Don't like having the gratuity added automatically without anyone tellling me. Would visit again.

Lovely service however was not impressed with the roast dinner! Most of the food was rock hard such as veg and stuffing, potato’s undercooked and lack of variety did not have any beef or pork left

Had some food here before a concert at the guildhall. The restaurant does just as it says on the tin .. we were pleasantly greeted and shown to our table which was directly in view of the open downstairs kitchen. Boy can that chef churn out some good looking food single handedly!!! (Having been in catering for years I was in awe of his speed and presentation) Food was lovely, nicely presented and our waiting staff were lovely. Definitely a go to when we go to the Guildhall next!!!

Visited today , we had booked a table at 3 , we arrived on time not very welcoming by staff . We were shown to our table ordered 2 roast beef only to be told there was only chicken left . Roast was very average and disappointed that there was only chicken left having booked a table . Really like the Brewhouse and Kitchen in Southsea but will not be visiting the one in Guildhall walk again

Absolutely horrible food raw and uncooked, customer services horrible, didn’t ask how the meal was or clear the table for 20 minutes after we finished; dirty glass ware, and rude staff when it came to paying and eating. Not worth it at all, get better service at McDonald’s

Went there to celebrate Mothers Day with my daughter and her hubby . They had a fruitbeer which they thoroughly enjoyed then came the food. It was a plate piled high with proper roasties, fresh veg, lovely meat and the hugest Yorkshire pudding I have ever seen. This was all finished off with a very tasty thick gravy. The Chef and the waitresses were working so hard as well. I would highly recommend anyone to eat there.We also had a pudding but I shan’t go on about that as running out of room.

Could do with some more bar staff on nights where there are big gigs at the Guildhall. You only hav to check the Guildhall website to know this :-)

Was very pleasantly surprised as not being local had no prior knowledge. From the welcome, to menu, beer choice, food quality and service, all perfect!

Probably the best roast I have ever had in a pub. Very generous portion, well cooked and fresh. Loads of meat, loads of veg, crisps potatoes, extra pot of gravy on the side. Friendly staff too. Highly recommended.

Bobby was great for our beer tasting. Had a delicious burger as well as some flavoursome beers 🍻

Shout out to the Chef, I think his name was Ivon or Ivor, he was on his own and clearly rush of his feet. But he still provided great food. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Great beer too.

Paige was so friendly and accommodating, with a positive attitude and welcoming demeanour. She made the whole experience enjoyable for me and my mum on birthday celebrations. Excellent service This girl deserves a raise !!!!!!

Food was over cooked, yet greasy, spoilt the evening as it made my wife violently ill.

First visit. Nice atmosphere and a choice of beer. Tried the Tropical beer. Yummy. To confirm I did not eat at the pub.

Booked for food was seated and not told they didn’t have much food left found what we wanted to eat tried to order and everything we wanted they didn’t have so when with the roast only to be told 10 min later they had no roast left so went with the Pie food good beer was amazing and fresh but lack of food on the menu would put me off going back for food if I been told when we sat down would of been happier

Fantastic. Great atmosphere, great service, great drinks. My husband and I have eaten here twice in the last week, whilst staying in Portsmouth. We have been so impressed by the friendly and professional service, given how busy they are. It feels like home. We were given the time of day, in the fleeting moments service staff have to interact with their customers. That is a rare quality, so sorely missed in customer facing roles these days. The food was exemplary. It arrived quickly, even after being told there was a 30 minute wait, (of which we were happy to wait. We walked in on a busy Saturday night). It tasted amazing and was clearly made with pride. The beer and cider were "absolutely incredible". My husband appreciates a good quality pint, and these were his words. The beer brewing experience sound's great gift for a beer conasur. As a business model you are doing everything right and the fully booked restaurant is testament to that. Whatever you are doing. Keep doing it. It works.

Came in today after classes, service was amazing and so was food. The two who served me was Paige and Bobby, both lovely people, absolutely sweethearts. Would happily go again and recommend to anyone who had long day and just wants good food n drink.

Absolutely fabulous food staff and the pilsner larger, all perfectly balanced. Only issue travelling to Portsmouth We need a brew house in Chichester.

We were really looking forward to this meal as not eaten out for ages. First I ordered a cocktail but an ingredient had run out, so I ordered a different cocktail to be told there was an ingredient missing from that too. I gave up and ordered a beer. Ordered our food, we both wanted a steak but there was only one left. When 70 minutes had passed and our order had not arrived, it transpired the order machine had not transmitted the order to the kitchen. The chef rushed our food through. My medium rare steak came out rare and it was not a good cut of meat so I couldn’t eat it. To be fair on the chef was unhappy with how it cooked and didn’t charge us. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and apologetic. My husband’s chicken was good. All in all a disappointing dining experience though. I know it was a Sunday but it was full in there so the stock levels should have been better

The staff are so helpful and friendly especially the manager! When we had a bit of an issue with the beer we ordered they sorted it really quickly and no issues. We had a great time.

Beer was lovely. The red beer was like licking honey off a butterflies wings.

Eat here regularly before Guildhall events. Food and service usually excellent, and good value. On this occasion, not so good - table booking not on system, then menu choices reduced and prices raised. Chicken wings which are normally excellent were disappointingly undercooked and soggy. Hopefully better next time.

Had an amazing time with Bobby, he really knows his stuff and a lot about whiskey too, so much about whiskey and beer couldn’t keep up but thoroughly enjoyed it. Keep it up and looking forward to the gin tasting or rum tasting, maybe both. lol

Lovely Christmas dinner. Shame we couldn’t finish it all! Brilliant service with a smile! Enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere. Nice table where we could be on our own and away from the crowd. Excellent!

Went for a quick pre-show meal, and they did get our food out to us quickly. Unfortunately too quickly as the two Fish & Chips were undercooked and the replacement was even worse. The burgers were great, and the triple cooked chips delicious, just a shame about the undercooked fish, had that been good my score would have been much higher. Great atmosphere and we would give it another try

Rustic bar and good atmosphere. Roast was just warm but was near cold by the time I finished. However it was a good tasting roast and the beef cooked to perfection, and I did eat it all 👍 Service a little slow and had to go to find staff to take order, however they were all friendly.

We popped in post-panto, and - as ever - the place was rammed, loud and boisterous, and yet - somehow - the single chef turns out food quickly, well-presented, and full-of-flavour... and all quickly too... and, when bearing in mind that the menu is large and diverse, we have no idea how he copes: he is a very talented, multi-tasking, fella!

Micro brewery serving a good selection of non commonly available drinks.do not expect bog standard lagers etc. Good food as well,but a small menu. Good staff nice setting ,enjoyable place to eat and drink.

Unusually, we experienced poor service this time. Lots of confusion about table booking, drinks order amd deposit refund - no fault of very new staff, more a lack of management oversight. Food and atmosphere great.

Was given a rum tasting experience, Bobby and Sophie were amazing, full of knowledge, and very personable. They made the whole experience enjoyable. Will definitely go back for the atmosphere and the food which was exceptional. Can't fault the Brewhouse and kitchen!. Totally amazing.

Absolutely perfect burger with a side of perfectly cooked chips ( I personally don't like burger sauce but I do now) Edit: came again and had the spicy Mac n cheese burger, Hella underrated it was amazing Would give it 6 stars if I could

Saturday night pre theatre dinner table for 2. Excellent service and the meal arrived very promptly. Good atmosphere although quite noisy. Good to able to book on line as it was very busy. Overall a very good experience. I would recommend it.

Firstly, the food was very good. The bacon/chilli Jam burger was great. The service however was way below what you would expect. Taken to the table with no explanation of how to order, ordering at the bar took 15 minutes+ to get served when the line had barely 4 people in. Open concept kitchen with a chef that wouldn't stop whistling obscenely loud was insufferable. Even if he did make a nice burger.

Craft beer was excellent, my husband loved his steak and our burgers were very tasty. Servive was lovely and prompt. Thank you ❤️

Hard copy menu didn’t match that of the online app, disappointing I couldn’t have my first choice! Otherwise a nice pre gig meal & drinks

Food & service & ales all good, but I really hope that the linear queuing for the bar (starting a metre and a half away from the bar!!) wasn't pub policy, and that it was just a madness implemented by some demented customers

Great place. Definitely book in advance as it way busy! But despite not booking they squeezed us in and we had a lovely pre-show meal. Hats off to the chefs too... We were sat opposite the open kitchen and they were working super hard getting all that food out! Also, the beer is lovely of course (I had the IPA)

Have never eaten here before and we were really impressed with the whole experience. It was a Saturday night, very busy but the staff were so helpful and efficient, very friendly and observant. There was a young man who was particularly helpful and provided such good service. The food was delicious and well presented - highly recommend the place.

Georgia, our gin sherpa was really knowledgeable on the gin history and the tasting experience was great fun. Will recommend 👌

We had great service throughout our family lunch gathering today and were so impressed with young bar supervisor ( blonde hair, so sorry I did not catch his name) who even came over a number of times to check if we would like more drinks etc. The lunch/work space offer of £10 for a meal plus unlimited soft drinks was also excellent. We shall visit again!

We booked Brewhouse after a previous visit and weren't let down. The chicken schnitzel burger was great, service too and atmosphere was as you'd before a gig at the Guildhall

We have not been here for a while and was pleased to see that it was still the same. Good choice of drinks and food. Friendly staff. Best pub in the area.

Such poor service on a Friday night. Must be some issue with shortage of staff, but really better to prioritise serving to rearranging the glasses.

It is a very busy venue, with the staff run off of their feet, but - crikey - they do put in a shift, and somehow maintain a smile throughout! The chef - just one fella on his own - somehow coped, and was getting out a very diverse menu on time, and at a great quality, and... he also knows how to flavour food, as - for example - my innocuous sounding mac-and-cheese with shiitake mushroom was an absolute flavour-bomb! WE all blooming well loved it!!!

Very glad we'd booked as the pub was pretty full of diners. My Wife enjoyed the BBK Burger and my Pie & Chips was accompanied by plenty of gravy. Many thanks to the staff and in particular the attentive young male Waiter. Coming back - we always do!

None of the food was fresh and even the chips were poorly fried/heated. That says it all really. Floor was sticky, although I’m sure it’s a nice place for Sunday afternoon drinks and watching a game of football

Exceedingly over-priced for a far below average place. The place isn’t that clean, the food was terrible, especially considering the price. The waitress forgot multiple items and was nowhere to be seen for the majority of our meal. Back to the food, 5/9 of our party became sick after eating here, the place should be ashamed and frankly closed down they’re that bad Will never go back

Found this place as was going to a concert at the Guildhall and wanted a place close by, great choice it turned out to be. Excellent food, great beer and excellent service.

First choice wasn't available so I ordered nachos with side of spicy mushrooms. I let the server know that I didn't want any chillis. When the meal came up it was covered in slices of red chilli. It was taken away, and returned too quickly for anything other than the chillis to have been removed from the dish and given back. Once I started to eat I realised that there were also lots of green chilli slices, I picked these out. Chillis give me an upset stomache nothing worse. In the current climate it was worrying that my request wasn't adhered too and could have far more serious consequences for someone else.

A little dark to eat, but when food came it was AMAZING!! 😋 Thoroughly recommend the Krakauer Bacon Frankfurter. £14 very well spent. Pre-Guildhall dinner did not disappoint 💖💙🙂

Not a good ambassador for craft beer. Probably the worst craft beer I have ever tasted. Dead, too warm , tasteless and cloudy when not meant to be.

We did the beer tasting experience at Portsmouth Guildhall. It was a lot of fun and we tried a range of beers. Food was good. Highly recommend!

I visited in my capacity as CAMRA Brewery Liaison Officer. I spoke to the Brewer and received the information I required. During my visit I enjoyed a pint of Mucky Duck.

Great place to eat, good food, very nice steaks and all cooked as requested. I would recommend.

Very poor service from the bar maid this evening - unpleasant to a lady customer who enquired about their wine and was undecided what to drink. When the customer asked for a small sample (as good craft beer houses allow), the barmaid flatly refused and didn’t explain why. Needless to say the customer left and didn’t purchase anything. I was appalled at her treatment and I won’t be returning here again. (I had previously thought it was a decent enough place but clearly I was mistaken if they can treat anybody like that.)

Fantastic Nacho starter, not just plonked on a plate, it was beautifully presented and tasted amazing …. possibly the best nachos ever!! Fish and chips were great too!

Stopping out of town and looking for somewhere to eat and good beer. We came across the Brewhouse and Kitchen and could not fault the service in here. The food is amazing and their home brew beers are a real treat. Big shout to Adam and the staff who looked after us all night. Definatly recommend

Brewhouse & Kitchen is a perfect example of how to do things properly! A great selection of drinks (their own and guests) Brilliant service. Very personable and engaging. The food was also excellent! I had fish and chips and couldn’t finish it all….it was a monster! Great job. Highly recommend here for drinks and food! 👌😝
