Brewhouse and Kitchen in Portsmouth

Great place. Definitely book in advance as it way busy! But despite not booking they squeezed us in and we had a lovely pre-show meal. Hats off to the chefs too... We were sat opposite the open kitchen and they were working super hard getting all that food out! Also, the beer is lovely of course (I had the IPA)

Great night lots learnt and good fun

Have never eaten here before and we were really impressed with the whole experience. It was a Saturday night, very busy but the staff were so helpful and efficient, very friendly and observant. There was a young man who was particularly helpful and provided such good service. The food was delicious and well presented - highly recommend the place.

Georgia, our gin sherpa was really knowledgeable on the gin history and the tasting experience was great fun. Will recommend 👌

Fantastic staff, service & food, cannot fault the place!!

We booked Brewhouse after a previous visit and weren't let down. The chicken schnitzel burger was great, service too and atmosphere was as you'd before a gig at the Guildhall

We have not been here for a while and was pleased to see that it was still the same. Good choice of drinks and food. Friendly staff. Best pub in the area.

Such poor service on a Friday night. Must be some issue with shortage of staff, but really better to prioritise serving to rearranging the glasses.

Very glad we'd booked as the pub was pretty full of diners. My Wife enjoyed the BBK Burger and my Pie & Chips was accompanied by plenty of gravy. Many thanks to the staff and in particular the attentive young male Waiter. Coming back - we always do!

Excellent service from Jasmine, the atmosphere was good, the food was ok and the local brews could have been a bit more interesting.

None of the food was fresh and even the chips were poorly fried/heated. That says it all really. Floor was sticky, although I’m sure it’s a nice place for Sunday afternoon drinks and watching a game of football

Exceedingly over-priced for a far below average place. The place isn’t that clean, the food was terrible, especially considering the price. The waitress forgot multiple items and was nowhere to be seen for the majority of our meal. Back to the food, 5/9 of our party became sick after eating here, the place should be ashamed and frankly closed down they’re that bad Will never go back

Found this place as was going to a concert at the Guildhall and wanted a place close by, great choice it turned out to be. Excellent food, great beer and excellent service.

First choice wasn't available so I ordered nachos with side of spicy mushrooms. I let the server know that I didn't want any chillis. When the meal came up it was covered in slices of red chilli. It was taken away, and returned too quickly for anything other than the chillis to have been removed from the dish and given back. Once I started to eat I realised that there were also lots of green chilli slices, I picked these out. Chillis give me an upset stomache nothing worse. In the current climate it was worrying that my request wasn't adhered too and could have far more serious consequences for someone else.

A little dark to eat, but when food came it was AMAZING!! 😋 Thoroughly recommend the Krakauer Bacon Frankfurter. £14 very well spent. Pre-Guildhall dinner did not disappoint 💖💙🙂

Not a good ambassador for craft beer. Probably the worst craft beer I have ever tasted. Dead, too warm , tasteless and cloudy when not meant to be.

We did the beer tasting experience at Portsmouth Guildhall. It was a lot of fun and we tried a range of beers. Food was good. Highly recommend!

I visited in my capacity as CAMRA Brewery Liaison Officer. I spoke to the Brewer and received the information I required. During my visit I enjoyed a pint of Mucky Duck.

Great place to eat, good food, very nice steaks and all cooked as requested. I would recommend.

Very poor service from the bar maid this evening - unpleasant to a lady customer who enquired about their wine and was undecided what to drink. When the customer asked for a small sample (as good craft beer houses allow), the barmaid flatly refused and didn’t explain why. Needless to say the customer left and didn’t purchase anything. I was appalled at her treatment and I won’t be returning here again. (I had previously thought it was a decent enough place but clearly I was mistaken if they can treat anybody like that.)

Fantastic Nacho starter, not just plonked on a plate, it was beautifully presented and tasted amazing …. possibly the best nachos ever!! Fish and chips were great too!

Stopping out of town and looking for somewhere to eat and good beer. We came across the Brewhouse and Kitchen and could not fault the service in here. The food is amazing and their home brew beers are a real treat. Big shout to Adam and the staff who looked after us all night. Definatly recommend

Brewhouse & Kitchen is a perfect example of how to do things properly! A great selection of drinks (their own and guests) Brilliant service. Very personable and engaging. The food was also excellent! I had fish and chips and couldn’t finish it all….it was a monster! Great job. Highly recommend here for drinks and food! 👌😝

Lovely team, professional and welcoming. Food (roast dinner) was cooked really well, but too much thyme (personal taste) for me and the hubster.

There was a group of 8 of us for a reunion. 2 of us come one monthly basis. It's a great pub staff are always helpful and friendly

Die brauen eigenes Bier und das war vorzüglich.Gegessen haben wir BeerCanChicken.Das war wirklich sehr gut , sodass wir am nächsten Tag direkt wieder dahin sind . Diesmal habe ich DryAged Steak zu mir genommen , es war sehr gut, zu einem Preis von 21 Pfund , wirklich sehr anständig. Sehr loben muss ich noch das Personal , sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Hervorheben will ich noch unsere Bedienung welche auf den Nahmen " Karolina " gehört hat. Sie war eine echte "Perle" Rundum zu empfehlen!👍👍

Outstanding service; our server really knew her stuff about the beers available, hugely impressive. We were a party of five and had a range of dishes including wings, calama ri, bacon fries and more; nicely cooked and went well with the range of beers we enjoyed. Note that our price range was inflated by our indulgence of the IPAs over 4hrs, easy done.

spur of the minute choice for dinner when collecting daughter from University, for a monday evening there was quite a few people in there due to a conference being held in the university, but that didn't impede our enjoyment, the food was very good, my rib-eye steak was wonderfully tender, and it had a great chimichuri sauce with it

My daughter and I went here for the Gin tasting Masterclass. Georgia who was our host for the time as excellent. We had 5 different Gins and all the history about them and about Gin in general. It was very informative and to top it off we were given a Double measure of our favourite Gin and also food at the end of the experience. It was thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you Georgia for being our host.

It was a rocky start to our experience Booked for 1700 Ordered drinks but they didn’t have the beer my husband wanted Then told that the chef was busy preparing a buffet so no orders could go into the kitchen for 10 minutes or so Eventually at 1730 we could order and the good when it came was good .. hence the mixed review We were there at 1700 because we needed to be elsewhere at 1830 so no time for what we wanted I have no problem with a restaurant which doesn’t offer food until 1730 but not when it confirms your booking for 1700 For that reason I cannot really recommend

Always Amazing food and outstanding service

I come here very often and always happy with the quality of food. However, I’m disappointed with the bar. The menu states some cocktails come with seasonal fruits or a slice of orange. Ordering Pimm’s lemonade, I’m told they don’t have fruits… Ordering Aperol spritz, there is no orange. As a result, the cocktails looks poor for the price. Also, it would be nice if waiting staff put their hair up at least in pony tails when serving food :)

Previous visits have been better! 2 hot chocolates served just warm and rainbow salad very lacking for the price! Just a few roast veg and hummus. When asked to add chicken there was none available although still serving chicken burgers. Staff pleasant.

Just finished a beer experience tour with Ollie, had an absolutely fantastic time. Beer is fantastic, especially when you learn the process behind it.

Here night before our ferry crossing, 6 of us food was perfect and great beer too. Super service too

Terrible service when asked for compliments walked away then she came back and never asked how my meal was and just picked it up and took it away I suggest they learn to ask folks if they happy with meal that way I could least had chance telling them personally but manners was well bad here

We came here for a drink, food and a Gin masterclass. The welcome from all staff was friendly; the venue was extremely flexible about the day. We were introduced to the Roof Terrace, which was wonderful and ate up there. The Gin Masterclass was generous in "samples" and Georgia who ran it was enthusiastic, fun and knowledgable. We could have stayed there all day and all evening. Recommended.

Myself and daughter had a roast dinner which looked lovely and a decent size meal unfortunately it was cold, returned the food and was given a much smaller roast with hardly any vegetables which was disappointing.

We love going to brewhouse when we are in Portsmouth. The service and food was excellent. Would recommend to anyone.

We’ve eaten here a few times over the years and always been good. However this time I came in before a show at the guildhall, we asked about food times due to the show (they have a sign saying let us know if you are going to the theatre) she said there’s no current wait, and that everyone in there was going to the show “so we should be fine”. After 2 of us choosing the “beercan chicken” we were then told it was off the menu. I opted for the schnitzel instead, asking if they could use BBQ sauce , she said they’ll bring some on the side. Food took 50 minute wait (we were planning to be in and out in 1 hour- 90 minutes). The 3 other people ordered burgers and food came at the same time. My schnitzel followed 5-10 minutes later, minus any bbq sauce I quieted it by they just seemed confused, so I left it. It was evident it had been over cooked by its colour. But when trying to cut through it, it was so tough I couldn’t. The whole piece was hard. No staff had come past the table since dropping off the food so I walked to find someone. I explained and they offered to cook another, but I said I didn’t really have the time. They did say if they had another already cooking they could potentially bring one out. The waitress came back to my table and took my food, advising they’ll take it off the bill. They never came back. I never had any food, so I went without dinner before the show. We were never offered any more drinks (after ordering initially) no staff came to clear the plates. The table next to us couldn’t flag down staff to pay their bill, so both us and the table next to us went to the bar and queued to pay. That was that! We paid up and I left hungry. Had we had more time I would have spoken up more, but at this point it was too late and we needed to get off. Disappointing as I regularly go to a number of different brewhouses. They seemed quite low on staff, and wholly absent through the time in there, Hopefully this was just a one off but I won’t come back to this one,

Was not able to book online, phone was not answered. Should have known Decided to walk there and try our luck with a table. Got there at 18.45 to be told the kitchen was shut. No explanation just kitchen is shut. There was an ambulance outside so who knows.

Beer is always great here as was the food last night. Cheeseburger was delicious.

My friend and I visited for a pre-theatre meal. Excellent food….we had burgers and fries which were hot and very tasty. Reasonably priced and a great experience!

I’ve been here recently and couldn’t decide what to have to eat and Inez recommended a chicken burger and it was a great choice, it was so good. Also the beer selection was great 👍

Was here for lunch today and it was lovely. Welcoming staff and Inez helped us to pick good beers. I had tropical IPA and my friend had apa, was very good.

Food initially served was cold. Had to get it replaced.

Went here on the weekend to have some food and the staff was so welcoming and lovely , helped me with everything I needed. I had chicken burger and tropical IPA and I enjoyed it so much. Quick service from both sides. Well done guys as it was so busy but you still kept the smile on the faces.

It was so loud and extremely busy as two local venues were hosting shows on the same night. But it didn't stop staff being friendly and helpful. Food was amazing. Portion sizes were just right.

I've heard by someone there's jealous foods, I want to highly recommending to go to this restaurant. On someday if I will be visiting Portsmouth I will be going this restaurant to eat and drink.

Can’t fault the food or service but elements to our visit were disappointing. It is dark, which I get is mood lighting but could have done with bit more to eat. Also, toilets were not in a great state, not that clean and had to use again in dark as the one in light had either a leak or wee on floor and other locked. Toilets could use some attention.

Nice pub, friendly service, and the food was good when it arrived. Unfortunately, due to a 'system error', our meals didn't arrive at the table until an hour after being ordered.

Didn’t bother staying. We had booked a table. Went in. Was packed out, stupidly noisy with ridiculous loud music. We could see the one table for two that would’ve been ours, which was right out in a walk way. Couldn’t hear ourselves think. No one bothered to greet us so we turned around and left and went to a much nicer calmer establishment down road

We ordered steak (none left) at 5pm on a Saturday really!! So we ordered 1/2 roast chicken less than 10 mins later it arrived one piece was really hot but the breast was stone cold ❄️❄️ So we took it back to the chefs as the service staff where running around like nutters Told them it was stone cold and not happy They refired up another one and sent it back to me Again it was cold but it was slightly warmer than the last one Would I eat here again? PROBABLY NOT!!!! FOOD NOT UP TO GOOD STANDARD!!!! service staff where really polite, friendly, and helpful Couldn't fault them Food I would say avoid when it's busy,As the chefs don't seem to care 😔

The food was nice, but let down due to unavailability of House wine, and Bacardi.

We arrived on time, advised staff that we were going to the theatre, waited 45 mins for food to be served, 2 of the 6 of us had "cold" food (should have been hot), we were offered ice cream because service was running late but we didnt really have time to eat it because we had to leave for the theatre.

Booked a table for a friend and I prior to attending a show at the Guildhall. We were both very happy with our experience. There was a choice of veggie options and the one I had was very tasty and well presented. My friend had a burger which they said was very good. Our waitress was excellent, she was very busy but was very friendly and attentive. Would definitely return to this venue.

Brilliant day. Out brewing some beer for the first time ever .it was fun

This isn’t quite as impressive as Chester’s branch of Brewhouse, but nonetheless still very good. Not difficult to pick a pint from their wide selection of beers on tap.

As has been stated on previous reviews, the food isn’t bad, but it isn’t great for the price you pay. My wife had Mac and cheese with garlic bread and the portion was small - more like garlic bread with a Mac and cheese dip. My fish and chips were okay, but the piece of fish was small and the batter was only average. The beer was again okay but nothing to write home about. The staff were very attentive and the pub was pretty busy.

Unfortunately this time they didn’t have any Steaks or Sticky Toffee pudding, but George Anson beer is spot on. My favourite waitress wasn’t in either.

The waiting staff were very attentive and friendly, however, the food was massively disappointing. We ordered a macaroni cheese main, brisket burnt ends, fries and buttermilk chicken wings. After a couple of drinks each and the compulsory service charge, the total bill was £65. The brisket burnt ends were neither crispy nor burnt. They were chunks of cold diced beef in a BBQ sauce which tasted really similar to canned hot dogs. The buttermilk chicken was just tiny wings coated in BBQ sauce with a few sprinkles on top (was that supposed to be the buttermilk part?!?). The fries were great and the macaroni cheese was nice, but small. There was nothing particularly offensive about the food but for the price it was very underwhelming. The waitress recommended a lager which wasn't on the menu and it ended up being £6.30 a pint which was pretty annoying as I didn't realise until we got the bill, considering the others were £3.95 during happy hour. The ladies toilets absolutely stank and were damp and dirty. Presumably a known issue as one cubicle remained locked all evening. The hand dryer didn't work either. Unfortunately we wouldn't recommend the food but the beers were good, just be careful about what you're being sold.

Despite the night of a Guildhall show and being packed with a warning of 45min wait for food, we were served drinks really quickly and had food on the table within a further 10 minutes after choosing. Really can’t complain, on a busy night we had a warm greeting, great servers and the food/drink was great

Booked for pre-theatre dinner. Very good service right from the start from a very attentive waitress. I had fish and chips - some of the chips were hard, but not enough to send back. The fish was okay, but batter could have been crisper. The peas were also a bit hard. My husband had half chicken, but it was a quarter that was served up. All of his accompaniments were nice. Had coffee after which was hot and good quality. I would eat here again, but maybe make a different choice with the food.
