Brewers Fayre Meadows in Barnsley

Very VERY disappointed. Meal was Greasy tasteless over cooked rubbish. Waitress very friendly. A nice day out spoilt.

Can’t give 0 stars. Food lukewarm when pub was nearly empty. Waitress only interested in been felt up by the junkie old enough to be her father who was sat at the bar. Remember to remove your work uniform before heavy petting at the bar. Won’t be back.

I stayed at the premier inn on business so are at the Brewers Fayre on two nights. Positively the staff were lovely, welcoming and friendly. However, the food both nights was either cold or lukewarm. My chicken fajita was cold. The chicken must have been cooked earlier and left to stand. The second night my lasagna was bubbling round the edges but barely warm in the centre. I was offered fresh chips when I mentioned it but staying on business I was on a tight time schedule to eat.

We stayed few nights to run an event in Mexborough. Had a meal deal that we twice missed (luckily it seems) but on third night arrived early enough to enjoy it. This highlights a problem with the company: they close too early. Second problem across Brewer's Fayre is that they push the staff too much, cutting this and that. Spending 50+ nights a year at Premier Inns, we visit quite a few restaurants adjacent. Smae problems all around. This place has good waiting staff, but a major problem in the kitchen. The cook was absolutely unable to cook a steak, and the meat qualit was terrible. I left steak uneaten for the first time in my whole life, after sending absolutely bone dry piece (I ordered medium) back to the kitchen, only to receive a sinewy, gristled, almost round lump that was all grey, had no sear, no salt, no pepper on it, and was medium only in the very middle.

We Visit our local brewers fayre on a regular basis. The food is ok and value for money. Our kids enjoy the play area. But what makes us regulars to the meadows is we are always treated like royalty especially our kids and our kids absolutely love the experience. They are on first name terms with Andrea who runs the play area and they adore her. Andrea turns our visits from good to really special and enjoyable for our kids. Which makes us visit more than twice a week every week

I had woken up starving and in the mood for a carvery so you know what I thought I'd give this place a try , we'll what can I say to explain my disappointment of my experience I arrived with my large carvery ticket at the carvery with my extra 🐖 in blankets ticket For some reason im not sure if the guy on the carvery needs glasses or something but he clearly only gave me a standard size even when I complained to the chef Harrison, his attitude was ridiculous tbh he didn't care at all and said he doesn't care what I ordered I've got my food now go and do one Honestly I'm extremely disgusted in my experience here and I will be making this very public knowledge so you now get nobody coming anywhere near your pub for food anytime soon disgraceful service Ohhh and on another note not bring funny but I'm pretty sure the meat on my carvery was freezing cold like it was warned up from the evening below Lastly I ordered a strawberry and apple old mount cider and for some reason it was like you'd booked the kettle it was that warm

NEVER AGAIN. Once a true national treasure and an iconic Barnsley landmark. Now nothing shy of awful and the new manager John did nothing but speak to me in the most condescending manner it left a bad taste in my mouth, then again that could be the leather shoe of a steak that I was served. I thought a dessert would cheers me up after the dry, lifeless meal I had prior only to be presented with a brownie that looked like a microwaved stool sample. I could go on but the memory of that meal has near traumatised me. Definitely wouldn’t recommend and will not be coming anywhere near this place ever again.

As a family we’ve always come to this pub as it’s local to us, over the passed few years it has gone down hill, but over the last few months it has really gone down hill I don’t know if the management has changed but there is a awful atmosphere, it feels like as soon as you walk in your just not wanted and that your a inconvenience to be served, the lady on the bar the last visited that we went she was draped over the bar talking to what I presumed to be her partner talking holding hand and when I asked if anyone as serving she said abruptly yeah but it’s this till round here the eye roll that I had interrupted her conversation it just made me feel like I wasn’t wanted, the food was absolutely disgusting it was cold and barley cooked, I can honestly say that I will not be returning to the pub my family once loved it really disheartening hopefully the management can sort this

what an awful experience i had the food was absolutely awful, i had a chicken tikka curry it was disgusting it was watery and the rice was barley cooked i went to ask for a fresh meal i went over to the duty manger which her name was jessica she was wearing glasses and a dress she stated that i had had my food for 20 minutes and that i wasnt going to get a refund i find this absolutely ridiculous and will not be returning

Came in fancying a drink after finishing work. Connor who was serving at the bar was extremely friendly as soon as we walked in. He asked if we had a table booked and we explained we just wanted drinks. Now, I'm what my wife calls indecisive so Connor started going through the different options of drinks and the ones he thought were good. This helped me make my choice. Then to my wife, she wanted a wine and he helped her with this too. He helped us join the bonus club and then made friendly conversation each time he saw us as he was cleaning.

Excellent service all round, staff are outstanding will definitely be visiting again. Thank you to Robyn for the great stay

Very relaxed atmosphere. Staff were funny, yet professional. Meals were good. Enjoyed the visit, and will return when next in that area. However, ladies loos smelled of urine, one door lock was broken off, and the hand drier didn't work! I was going to mention to a member of Staff discreetly, but they were all busy with other customers.

We went as a party of 7 to celebrate my birthday. The staff were amazing and John, the manager went out of his way to make my day more special. Huge thanks to you all

Came here for breakfast and was very disappointed, The breakfast was cold and the eggs were very rubbery. We've been to afew brewers fayre s and this is up there to be the worst. We won't be returning .

Had a lovely last minute booking here last night. Cannot fault the service and food. A big shout out to Connor, our host, who looked after us very well. Thank you we will be back.

Came here to celebrate a friends birthday. Service was fantastic. Big thanks to Connor who was brilliant! Super friendly and nothing was too much! Had a great laugh also. Definitely will be back again. Was first time trying and has made a lasting impression!

Used to come here quite a lot Tuesday dinner times . Always had the smothered chicken 2 for £ 11.99 but last time noticed slight change with menu in that it now doesn't come with salad and caulslaw which makes it a very band meal...

Nearly £30 for 2 meals that clearly were just warmed up as they took longer to walk from kitchen than to make them. I will never be eating here again.

Friendly, but very poor service, food was slapped together, we had a fly in the dessert and they tried to charge me twice for kids dessert. They say when you order a kids meal ,you have to order the dessert the same time. I questioned...

It is clean but that’s about all that’s good about it. Steak was so chargrilled it tasted burnt, burgers small, hot dog 2 breakfast sausages? Eldest enjoyed his Margaret’s pizza thought. Would you would have called cheap and cheerful … except nothings cheap these days!

We had a very enjoyable couple of evenings in this restaurant having based ourselves in the Premier Inn next door. The staff work extremely hard and are always smiling and chatty. Our thanks goes to Connor, Em, Vez and Kathy for ensuring we were well...

We came in at breakfast time, was expecting Buffet but it was table service. Could still have all you can eat - just had to order it. Felt guilty ordering seconds but it was ok Sophie was good and friendly so didn’t feel too bad...

Beautiful food , fantastic service just like to say we were served by a young gentleman called connor he was really friendly and helpful, fantastic social distancing felt really safe .

We stayed overnight in the Premier Inn next door with out 2 young children (2 and 4 yo). Had our evening meal in The Meadows which was very nice with great service, nothing too much trouble. The following morning we had our breakfast and again great service, lovely food and lovely staff made us feel very welcome. Katie and the staff were lovely with the kids and helped them settle down and feel at home. Credit where credit is due as during these difficult times (CV) for everyone the staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful and this added to the enjoyment of our stay. The food and drink were spot on as well. Thank you.

We would definitely recommend here for food. Pre-covid we were regulars for Sunday dinner. This is the first time we have been since lockdown and after having carvery at a few different places since lockdown, I can honestly say this felt the safest. All staff follow procedures. It is clean, comfortable and food was great. Staff bring food to the table on large trays and you take it off the tray. Great customer service as always. We will definitely be regulars again.

Absolutely dreadful would not recommend. Came here for a Carvery and honestly I’ve had more satisfaction out of a ready meal. None of the food was fresh and the meat was as dry as Gandhis flip flop. I’d have have more satisfaction out of licking a carpenters work side.

We went here the first day of new restrictions, staff were very informative and efficient. The place was spotless and we felt very safe. The food was lovely, freshly cooked, very tasty and excellent value for money. Well worth a visit, might be best to book.

ate here recently, the restaurant is using a reduced menu with very few non-meat options. Food all seemed microwaved, no salad or fruit due to covid restrictions. Depressing choices all high in salt, fat or sugar. Staff were lovely and tried their best and everything was spotless.

Went today with my wife ,my wife had a meal myself a few Shandy's ,bit apprehensive at first I very rarely go out due to a brain disorder but was made very welcome by the staff the staff are very friendly will be going again

Please, please dont waste your money in this place. Poor selection, poor service, poor food and inflated prices. Truly the worst place i have eaten in many a long year. You would be better iff at Morrisons, Greggs or the local greasy spoon. In fact, you would be better off getting a garage sandwich!

Arrived at the adjacent Premier Inn where I was staying 10 minutes after the restaurant stopped serving food, the receptionist spoke to the manager and he kindly went out of his way to sort food out for me even though the kitchen had turned off nearly all the comers etc.The staff were all really friendly and the food was nice.Returned for breakfast in the morning, again all staff were really friendly and gave great service. I only had a light breakfast but it was tasty and the Costa coffee was nice.

We ate here as we were staying at the attatched premier inn. We sought out this premier inn based on the fact they had an outdoor play area in this attatched pub as we knew indoor ones are closed so were very disappointed to find the outdoor one taped up and out of use. We had 2 very upset kids. Local parks and other outdoor play areas have been open for weeks so wasn’t expecting this so wished we hadnt bothered and gone to a premier inn nearer our destination. However food wasnt too bad. Brewers fayre can be a bit hit and miss with food and this one hasnt got such great reviews so we were pleased that our food was all served hot, without much of a wait and was quite tasty. The menu was vastly reduced as expected but still enough choices to suit everyone. My burger was supposed to come with coleslaw according to the menu but didnt, though i would have liked some i wasn’t bothered enough by it to mention it. Our server whose name wasnt visible was pleasant enough and we enjoyed a drink at the numerous outdoor tables after our meal. We will be visiting again when in the area.

Average food saved by great service. Katie was a star and sorted out some sandwiches and fruit for us to take for breakfast as we had to be on site, working, before the breakfast started there. She couldn't have been more helpful.

Quite simply the worst experience of a pub/meal ever. Nearly every table returned their meals for whatever reason. Felt so sorry for the front of house lady who was trying her best and obviously let down massively by the kitchen. Spend your money elsewhere.

Fast welcoming service from the bar when ordering However That is where it stopped Currently sat here in the restaurant writing this review ! Had to send my sons burger back because although the burger was hot the toppings were clap cold ! Now £11.99 for a burger you do expect it to be at least warm ! The Mac n cheese topping felt and tasted like it had come straight from the fridge & the bacon cold and rubbery ! So when a staff member ( no name badge visible so didn’t get her name ) asked if everything was ok my son just remarked that the Mac n cheese , onion rings and bacon were cold ( not warm ) ( actually cold) she removed the plate from the table to get another made! Without so much as a sorry or I’ll get that sorted for you, Much it seemed to her annoyance ! 15 mins later and a plate returns to the table with granted a hot burger and hot trimmings however that was it No chips had been returned nor had the untouched coleslaw, when the staff member checked back my son jokingly said yes it was fine but where’s the rest of my food To what she responded “ I’ll get you coleslaw if you like “ my son replied that it was ok not to worry. I then went to the bar On my return it seemed she had returned put a pot of coleslaw on the table and not said a word !!! Food was ok in all fairness I had the lamb shank and it was fresh and hot and the veg wasn’t overcooked Service however is dire Don’t come here expecting a welcome smile , friendly service and chirpy staff because you’ll be disappointed. This server ( short woman short hair wearing glasses ) swans about the place like she owns the joint looking down her nose at customers Sat here now and three tables around us have all sent food back cold !We won’t be back

Was a bit dubious after reading some reviews but thought we would give it a try. We quite enjoyed our meals, nothing fancy but well cooked, service was fine and at £8.99 for two meals excellent value. Would definitely go again.

We visited this restaurant just after Christmas. My grand-daughter was having a party there for her 5th birthday and we dined whilst the party was taking place. We were in a party of ten and were located on a table adjacent to children’s birthday party. We ordered an assortment of starters and Main courses which included Smothered chicken Mixed grill Chicken Curry and Grilled gammon. The food arrived promptly and as usual was excellent. It was exceptionally good value and even better when we had vouchers for buy one get one free. The children had a brilliant party.They had time in the play area and enjoyed a choice of hot food and ice cream afterwards. It’s an ideal venue where the adults can enjoy some food whilst the children have fun. We often visit the Meadows with all the family and always enjoy our visits.

Taking our friend to see her family in Yorkshire we visited the Brewers Fayre, and as we use them quite often we tried this one. Like the others it gave us good food in comfortable restaurant with nice staff. It was a special meal and the four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, all nice and hot and tasty.

Stayed in adjacent Premier Inn so booked dearly evening meal. Great choice on menu, food arrived quickly and piping hot. Steak ordered well done and it was perfect, not chewy. Reasonably priced, would definitely visit again.

Paid for two sunday roasts after dinner decided to order two desserts which said add for £2 only to find out that because we didn't order them when we order made dinner we had to pay £4.99each then had to wait 40min utes has they had forgotten about our order . I think it needs more organisation as staff were just wondering around doing nothing while we were sat waiting

Visited for my wife’s bday,, the food was spot on,, the service was utter crap,, waiter came out with 2 plates, and then took them back as he couldn’t remember if the steak was medium or medium rare,,

Huge pub restaurant next to a Premier Inn and close to the road network, with quick efficient service, an extensive menu - albeit some of it is clearly heated up in its dish (lasagne, fish pie) - of very good value. Plenty of tables of different sizes, and a decent range of drinks including a choice of non-alcoholic beers

I carvery yesterday afternoon really looking forward to it... anyways I was disappointed with the lack of veg they offered with only have 3 options to pick from and the gravy was watery too i know people has there own taste but it could had being thicken up abit... I ask one of the staff for some colours for the kids and he throw them at my friend (how rude)

I use Premier inn a lot as you know exactly what you are getting, 99% of the time, clean and tidy, this one was exceptional, not sure if it's new, even the restaurant, they can sometimes get very boring and the meals can reflect on this but this one was lovely, the breakfast was great and one member of staff stood out, didn't get a name but a short bubbly very pleasant young lady, well done.

“Giant Yorkshire pudding filled with fried onions, creamy mash, sausages, garden peas and gravy” consisted of a hard chewy Yorkshire pudding that hurt my wrist to cut it, peas as hard as bullets, smash potato and watery gravy that looked like dish water. (No fried onions to be seen anywhere) let’s not forget this was priced at £9.99. no one cleared our plates after the main so they just sat there. Think they were short staffed I think as the chef brought our food out and no one checked on us throughout meal. I wouldn’t return

The food is what it is. Basic. It's what I'd class as a "tea" pub. No complaints on food but..... ...if you like a gin don't bother! Served in a half pint glass with a choice of "slimline tonic" or "normal".

We chose the 2 for £8.99 menu which is good value for money, the portions are the same size as of the main menu. We had the chicken tikka curry which does not come with a poppadom on the 2 for 1 meals but you can buy one for 25p, we also had the smothered chicken both dishes were very tasty. We eat here regularly and have never had a bad meal. The staff are friendly and courteous

We ate here during a stay at the adjacent Premier Inn hotel. We had an evening meal and breakfast. Service was good - efficient and quick - menu has lots of choice.

Took grandkids for lunch and a play before going back to school, the meal deal is great value and the food was decent.

The food and prices are usually decent here. There has been the odd occasion over the years where I've had to send food back, but nowhere is perfect. If you get a discount voucher via email this place becomes very good value for money.

Visited with my cousin and our children, having never visited before but was aware it had a play area for the kids. First thing we noticed was the cold. The air con was blasting, but when we asked for this to be turned down this was done probably due to the place being pretty empty.

We were regulars visiting every Friday for lunch, but stopped going due to a fall in standards .Poorly prepared food, grease on plates from Gammon, chips instead of jacket potato, sauce on chicken instead of plain chicken.etc.

Nice meal but after waiting for 30minutes still had to ask for the plates to be cleared and for the dessert best part is the apple Betty pudding yummy

I was sent an email advising that the management had changed and offering half price main courses. As my in-laws were visiting for the weekend and also it was Father's Day I booked a table for 6.00pm on Saturday. We all selected the creamy mushrooms on toast as a starter followed by 3 fish and chips and 1 vegetarian chilli and rice. The starters were anything but creamy. It was like eating soup on toast! Not recommended. We then were subjected to waiting for 40 minutes for the mains to be served. The fish and chips were OK however once again the chilli was soup-like and tasteless, the rice was stuck together and the tortilla chips soggy! Thank goodness we didn't have to pay the full price, otherwise I would have complained bitterly

Very nice Pub/Restaurant at the side of a Hotel, Their Breakfast Buffet cant be beat for price if you are a large family like us, 2 Adults & 3 Kids All you can eat & drink for just £19.00, the choice of Breakfast items from Cereals to fruits & full English breakfast items, Juices & coffee & tea’s, everything you need. It’s all help yourself so just grab a plate & start filling it up, some items you can order like Porridge & eggs cooked in different ways (they have scrambled & Fried out). Everything is Fresh & kept fully stocked, the staff are very friendly & helpful. Plenty of seating is available but if your coming at a busy time its best to book online to avoid having to wait or it been full.

I revisited after this place following an adequate visit last November. The food on both occasions was well cooked pud grub. What made this visit so much better was the service. Last time it was pretty much self service, this time delightful serving staff looked after us really well. We were greated and seated, our orders taken at the table for food and drinks. Lots of friendly chatter and effecient service. Suddenly what was a pud that was a convenient location with good enough food has transformed into a great place to meet my friends. Congratulations to the front of house staff

Came here with mum at 10.45 on a Saturday morning expecting to be too late but pleasently surprised they were serving breakfast til 11.00. The buffet self service items were all really nice & still plenty left. I have known the food to dry up towards the end of service in other similar establishments but not here. Full cooked breakfast items & also pastries, toast, fruit, yoghurt etc were available & jam, marmalade, butter etc. As much tea, coffee & juice as you wanted. Lovely soft piano music was playing & overall it was a very casual & relaxed experience - all this for £9.50, brilliant value & will definitely come again, thank you!

The Monday to Friday up to 6pm offer makes it a no brainer, starters and puds £1.99 each and 2 mains for £8.99 it’s not worth messing up the kitchen. We have found we can get quite settled here for a few hours though. I have forgot the managers name but she is always running around making sure everyone is happy and sorted, nothing is too much trouble she is also very friendly and chatty but not too much. The rest of the staff are also a credit to her.

Came for meal with other half had mixed grill the chef was called Connor and I must say it was one of the best meals I have had also had dessert massive compliments to chef Connor

Our Party (Temperance 100 were stayingat the Premier inn (Duerne Valley) connected to the restaurant and had naughty but nice fried breakfasts at the restaurant onboth days of our stay -excellent.

A very warm welcome Katy KK went above and beyond to look after our group ‘the Temperance 10’ Not usually one for Brewers meals but the food was hot and tasty for both evening meals and breakfast . Cheers

The first member of staff we had contact with wasn't welcoming and didn't listen to what we said. The food we ordered was hot but delivered without a side that had been ordered. This was rectified immediately. There was no check back. The coffee machine appeared to run out of milk but when I reported the problem to the staff member I was told they would have to look at it - even though we had paid for coffee refills. There was a shift change just before we left and a very pleasant young man, who had not served us, asked if we were okay and could he get anything for us. This is our second use of this chain - the 1st was brilliant so we visited this place intentionally and it did not come near to the first experience of Brewers Fayre.

We spent two nights in the hotel connected to the Brewers Fayre ,and after a very difficult journey up friday afternoon/evening we had a great welcome from the manageress of the Brewers Fayre who reserved us a table for dinner and said once we have booked into the hotel and ready, come down to eat.The service and food we received was above what we expected on all four occasions .my granddaughter made use of the big indoor play area which was clean and run very well.

We had a family gathering of 11 people , at first we didn’t like the table as we were by the kids play area and toilets , however after asking to move the staff couldn’t have been more helpful . Nothing was too much trouble and Katie found us a much better table . The service Katie gave us was excellent and would highly recommend The Meadows purely because of her !

I must say as much as we don't use these places we were pleasantly surprised by the attentiveness of the waitress and quality of food. The cod loin was a wonderful dish!!

We go to this restaurant fairly frequently with a friend and are always made very welcome. There's a good choice of food, which is usually cooked well. We went here yesterday for a meal I got the Yorkshire pudding meal and my friend got the 3 bean chilli the Yorkshire pudding was that hard I nearly broke my tooth the meat was very dry as if it had been left out chips were cold my friend is an older lady and has not been off the loo since yesterday she eat her cold food I couldn’t we told the young girl with glasses about the food and she walked away thinking she was going to get a manager but she didn’t we sat waiting for nearly an hour nothing so we left

me and my partner came in to have a meal for a date night the server behind the bar was knowlegeable of what they stocked and was quick to advise as i have a Cheese allergy i had the mixed grill which came perfectly steak cooked exactly as requested and the gammon meal my partner had was the best shes had so far not too dry or chewy. beer was served in the correct glasses and at a nice cold temperature, one thing that made this better was the fact some of the glasses were in the fridge. All Staff were friendly helpful and professional id reccomend and deffinately come again

Having stayed for business trip with colleagues the choice of menu as well as the helpful staff in the hotel and restaurant made this a comfortable stay.

just been to this so called restaurant 4 my sons 17th birthday meal. Was truly awful, 2 meals came out cold, my sons birthday meal didn't even arrive. my uncles gammon meal looked like a childs size and also cold.When I had 2 bite of my burger I found what I can only discribe as a tiny toe shaped thing, after calling the manager who pretty much said we just cook what we're sent which is poor quality we were offered more food, er no one wants anything else from here, he just cleared the plates.the ammount of food left on our plates was a sure sign that the meals were not nice and reguardless of what ever was found it my burger i ate that food and should have been made to feel at ease not like a burden. my sons day was ruined. I saw few other meals being taken back to the kitchen while we were left waiting for something to be done. After sitting 4 half hour I asked 4 a piece of paper to write my details down so I can be contacted regarding what I have just eaten to which a girl gave me some then said she would be back n she never returned. no refund was offered, no attention was giving, no compasion. We were left feeling like a nuisance n not valued at all. Disappointed is not even close to how we feel. Discusting poor quality food shocking customer service. Avoid at all cost. Go mcdonalds

Visited the Meadows for lunch today with my Son, which was delicious.

We stayed in the Premier Inn next door and ate here on 23rd Feb (Sat evening).

Have stayed in the Premier Inn for the week and very impressed by the helpful staff during what was a hectic half term period. I feel not enough recognition is given when it can be a challenging time.

Great food great service all staff very helpful and friendly great place to stay and eat has vegan options ask in restuarant

We arrived before food service started and were told there would be a 30 minute wait on food, All tables marked as reserved until we asked, then the reserved marker was removed. Drinks order was not good, no large bottles of Prosecco, We anticipated the 30 minute wait for food but it arrived in 15 mins and was all very nice. We then waited and waited and waited for the table to be cleared which never happened so I did it myself. Then ordered desserts and waited and waited and waited a bit more. I asked a server who simply walked off, after 40 mins my daughter asked the manager at the bar, who through his super powers said they were on their way, After over 45 mins they arrived with dirty spoons and missing items, all brought to the attention of staff but not an apology in sight. My recommendation spend your money elsewhere.

Came here on recommendation from a friend...we all had a meal off the menu and was very surprised. The meal was fantastic! Kate the manager was such a lovely lady nothing too much trouble...Will definitely be back.

Went in for a meal with a few friends. Everything was fantastic. Speedy service, food hot, food tasty. All the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. The interior is very modern and comfy to spend an hour or so in. Would highly recommend.

As we arrived a the meadows we was greeted by a lovely young woman named kate she sat us down at the table and then went on to ask if she could get us anything else and we asked if we could open a tab and she politely said yes and took me down to the bar and then served me. She could do enough for us. Then things took a turn I then went a took my two children into the play area and the young woman on the counter named crystal. I asked if I could play for two and she said that my oldest child was two big and that she would have to sit out which I didn't mind because I thought she was going to be over the height restriction.I then explained the we had a tab open so could she just put the money in the tab and she again asked for the money so I had to repeat my self again. She wasn't dressed professional and she looked so unprofessional it didn't look like she had a clue what she was doing and she looked like she didn't want to be there. Our food then come and the lovely kate checked back and asked if she could refill our drinks which I thought was great. Apart from the lady on the counter we had a okay day out and would return because all the other staff was lovely and helpful.
