The nonsense of limited carbs for children mean that often the child cannot choose what they want to eat, i.e. no macaroni and chips (too much carbs?). Parents/guardians should be able to decide what their child can eat not restaurant staff who say the government makes the rules and they have to follow them. Brewers Fayre will lose business over this silly rule. It’s time they listened to customers and common sense prevail.

Never one to moan about food, first impressions were alright with the waitress who served us, gradually as we all requested meals to pop out together as we attending in a large group this didn't happen, one of the waitress was quite rude slamming a plate down towards my 3 year old, my friends little boy found a black hair in his dinner ( he has blonde hair) I ordered a large mixed grill and my pork was undercooked and looked raw, my girlfriends fish was harder than a brick, other friend asked for extra cheese and recieved less than a sprinkle. The toilet facilitys are deplorable The manager was extremely understanding with us and explained they are understaffed however this matter should have been sign posted to make all customers aware, I normally enjoy my experience in each brewers fayre however on this occasion I must say I'm very disappointed. The standards need to be higher especially whrn1 person at the table out 14 finished a meal nearly £200 between us all in food and very little value for money especially with the appalling service. I'll add the manager offer a 90% refund

Hubby and I had lunch in this brewers cause today and were very happily surprised. Brewers fayre have a bit of a poor reputation and no one expects too much, however, our lunch today was lovely. I had the club sandwich, which was full of tender chicken, nicely cooked bacon and fresh tasting salad. My husband was full of praise for his chicken tikka.

First of all, restaurant was far too cold on this February night. We sat near the entrance to the soft play. Not sure if it’s a problem throughout the restaurant or just in this area. Food was ok. We know not to expect too much from Brewers Fayre as it’s cheaper than most places. My Chicken wings as a starter weren’t great & my partner wasn’t impressed with the chicken burger. Everything else was ok for our party of 4. When it came to deserts, I had to get out my seat to approach a member of staff to ask for our deserts which we ordered at the start. I waited another 20-30mins and they still weren’t here, so I got out my seat to find another member of staff to ask again. Eventually they came. The restaurant was fairly quiet at this time so they didn’t even have that as an excuse.

The food is pretty simple. When we went I ordered the gammon steak, was half the size it used to be, but obviously more expensive. Was nothing to rave about. Staff were standing about speaking to each other while there was a queue at the bar to be served. Food also took a while to come out even though the restaurant was pretty empty!

Spent two nights with my partner n kids in the premier Inn attached to this restaurant so seemed ideal for us for convenience. Went here for the breakfast the first morning, good value, £17.50 for all you can eat for all four of us and the cooked brekkie was lovely along with choice of cereals etc but the setting itself had not been cleaned from the previous evening. (there were peas and potato wedges on the floor beneath our table). We noticed they had a softplay so decided we would return for dinner after our day out where the kids could have some more fun n tire out before bed! Was very disappointed with the staff in the evening. It took 25 minutes for two kids soups to arrive. My partner and I had the Italian buffet but it seemed staff had no intention of clearing our empty plates, with one person walking past repeatedly totally oblivious to diners needs. Also it appeared as though the kitchen would only replenish the buffet when an item was totally finished as opposed to keeping it topped up. I had a refillable soft drink although it was only Pepsi that worked on the machine. The staff serving me at the bar did not have the decency to tell me this despite it being brought to his attention twice as I waited in the queue. I saw other diners also complaining of various things at the time. The one positive was the member of staff in the softplay. There was plenty of room.for the kids to go wild in there but she also took the time to sit and colour in with any children who wanted to do something different.Overall it was pretty average, food was fine, you get what you pay for, but the service was disappointing, especially as it was not very busy. Would hope that they could improve customer service in future.

I was staying at the Premier Inn next door and apart from driving out there was not eating option. The first night was not good, starter took 15 minutes to arrive, main course another 40 minutes, even after a reminder, the starter was good but the main very variable, luke-warm chips and cold Garlic Bread. I went to breakfast with a lack of anticipation but being as I had already paid did not have a choice, what a difference, freshly and well-cooked, hot plates, good buffet selection faultless. The evening meal was also good, delivered quickly and well-cooked as was breakfast the following day, perhaps my fist meal was a one-off

I've been using this Brewers Fayre for many years when staying at the Premier Inn next door (See my review) and like the Inn, it feels home from home.Gordon and the staff are always helpful, always attentive and the food is freshly cooked, none of this buffet style breakfasts (Brewers Fayre do not change this!!).Evening meals are Brewers Fayre which means a menu from which you will find something of interest, theme nights and there is a specials board as well. (BUT please Brewers Fayre let's have some local food on it too - when in Scotland I would expect at least Haggis on the specials board menu!).Gordon is a great host and, even though I only get up there a couple of times a year, he remembers me as he does with other customers as well. There is a children's play area (which my daughter expected to play on regardless of the weather - she is now at university so it was some time ago!) which is easily visible from the restaurant I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

The eatery was okay. Much as others of this type, and can be quite good value. There's quite a good range of choices that should suit most tastes. Some of the chairs were 'neat' and I am not exceptionally sized, I also found them uncomfortably hard to sit on. Fortunately, it was possible to rearrange things or change tables to where another style of seat and comfort was available.

We booked for sunday lunch recently. You dont really need to book as you can mainly just walk in and get a table except at the busiest times but we had one of their cards that gives 10% off if you book so we did! The carvery was our choice and I have to say it was a really lovely meal. Choice of steak pie, vegetable pie, roast beef, roast ham or chicken breast with ample supplies of roast and boiled potatoes, cauliflower cheese and a host of other veg all helped down by a tasty gravy ( with a veggie option) and a couple of tasty yorkshire puddings. Well satisfied, we were glad we hadnt had a starter although we had been tempted! The staff were so friendly and helpful and couldnt do enough for you. The surroundings have been refurbished and are pleasant and comfortable and the tables are far enough apart that you are not in everyone elses conversation. This was our first visit to Harveys but it wont be the last. Good honest tasty food, great service and very resonable prices. You should try it, they deserve to succeed in business.

This chef can cook! Restaurant can be very warm if the sun is shine and can be blinding if you sit in the wrong position. I tried the chicken terrine was was ok but not the best. The steak and haggis pie is to die for as are the chef’s soups of the day. Breakfast in the main was fine however bacon too salty and had better potato scones but the best poached eggs ever. The food in this restaurant is the highlight of the hotel and would recommend eating there if your staying or passing.

Ate here for 4 nights whilst away with work. Staff were lovely and very attentive. Food was good, some dishes better than others, I had the lamb shoulder, beef burger, steak and a sea food linguine. The steak was ok but really overpriced and served on a Wetherspoons style plate, one sorry looking mushroom and tomato served up with it! The Burger was tasty if a little underdone (no issue for me but maybe check people are ok with served pink!) The lamb was amazing. Seafood linguine wasn’t to my taste. Deserts had plenty of choice but only the sticky toffee did it for me, the rest were mediocre and seemed defrosted. Again expensive for what they are. Atmosphere was ok each night, didn’t spend long in there. I wouldn’t say it’s got a lot of charisma about it though! 4/5 all in as the staff where great!
