Due to the Muni in Pontypridd closing , several gigs have been moved to The Colesium Theatre in Aberdare. Wanting a pint we decided to stay overnight. Far cheaper than a taxi home. I can't fault the Premier Inn. Book early enough and the rooms are cheap, the room is always clean and reception staff always friendly and helpful. Breakfast in Brewers Fayre next door was ok/ adequate but I do prefer the buffet style breakfast where you can see the food and help yourself to what you want, but it filled us up for the day ahead

I work as a cook. I wouldn’t have been happy with the food quality that was served today to me and my family. The place was freezing cold had to keep our coats on. My starter of the pulled pork was burnt and no taste, the gammon was very salty eggs were burnt and hard, chips where freezing cold. Will never be returning

The restaurant was really cold, me and my friend didn’t take our coats off. The starters we had were burnt and had no taste at all, and then the main was very standard with cold chips. Really disappointed, I myself work in a chain restaurant as a cook and would never serve the food we were served. We were looking forward to desserts but decided to give it a miss because of how awful the starter and main was, prices weren’t cheap either. Will never return and will let people know how bad and cold the food was. We ate around 6pm on 11/03/19.

We have been going back and fore to this pub for years mainly because it sits conveniently next to the Premier Inn. Whilst the Premier Inn is clean and tidy, Brewster is not. The toilets are dirty. The food has gone rapidly downhill over the years and is now inedible. The staff seem disinterested. Glasses and plates were left on the tables and the once cheery demeanour behind the bar seems to have disappeared. Every time we visit we think it surely can’t be as bad as last time but sadly not. This pub needs a serious review of management and a competent chef who can at least poach an egg correctly.

Called in as someone had said there was a buffet style breakfast available here. Walked in and was approached by a loud accented man who asked is if we'd booked (the place was empty but for 2 tables). He then said we have to pay first...£7.50 for continental (not a vast choice on display) or the full breakfast was £11.50 !! We tried to see the hot choice but didnt get that far... he asked us if we were staying or leaving ... we opted to leave...and had a full grilled breakfast of our choice including hot drinks for £4 in a small cafe a stones throw away ...

Tried ordering drinks at the bar and they had run out of guiness, opted for another beer that had to be taken back due to it being flat. Tried serving ourselves soup only to find that there were no bowls available and had to wait An age for them to turn up... there was no ice available in the machine nor was the water working on the drinks dispenser.

My father and I do like a bargain. We stayed at the excellent Premier Inn next door. On our first day we thought it might be cheaper to breakfast at the nearby Asda. As it turned out the cost savings were neglible compared with the cost of the breakfast at the brewer's fayre. Really well cooked (not overdone) AND you can order as much as you like! The large breakfast set us up for the day - so much so we didn't need to have lunch on our outings. The only down side was a very weak coffee - according to m'father. The fact that the breakfast kept repeating on us throughout the day had nothing to do with the quality but due to our overindulgence.

Have to admit have not been to this establishment for quite a number of years so really did not know what to expect. Kept my meal simple 'Fish and Chips' though there is quite a good menu range available. It was a passable meal I would certainly not call it the greatest Fish and Chips I have tasted but it went down well with my lager and lime. The meal was hot and reasonably tasty but I am surmising it was frozen fish which most of these time of establishments use.Did not have any desserts apart from a cup of coffee.Price paid was about average for these type of food outlets. I visited on a Monday so it was reasonably quiet and food was served quite quick.

This restaurant is a go to place for us. We have used this on numerous occasions including family get togethers and just as a pop in after shopping. The food is nothing special but it always manages to satisfy us. There is never usually a long wait to order or for the food to arrive. If you are looking for a quick easy meal with a good variety of drinks then this place is ideal. As there is a Travelodge next door there is always ample parking and I think the Travelodge use this restaurant as their breakfast offering. There is a large soft play secured area for children with an outdoor section that is fenced off. I have not used this for a while as my nephew grew out of this a few years back.We use the bonus card on offer and have always had money off our meal when offers are due on the card. The only reason I have not given the rating top marks is that sometimes, when it's busy, it can take the staff a little while to clear the tables and replenish cutlery, but otherwise a nice place for an easy non expensive meal.

Visited for lunch as we were in the area. As we're both doing Slimming World, there was only one meal on the menu that worked to plan - a salad, but it turned out that they did have jacket potatoes as an alternative to chips, so had that with a steak and other half had that with a gammon. He said the gammon was nice. The steak was over-cooked and tasteless and the baked potatoes were nuked, mine beyond eating. They did get me another, but overall a very mediocre meal, badly cooked. Won't go again.

Visited here recently, wasn't expecting Michelin star as it's a brewers fayre and you'd usually know what to expect but this was awful. We arrived early so you would have thought the selection would have been ok. Beef was tiny and so over cooked it looked like it was processed, hardly any turkey left and what was there was surrounded in jelly so had to opt for the gammon (I always find gammon strange in a Sunday lunch) then there was the choice of veg, absolutely pathetic. Parsnips, roast potatoes, sprouts, carrot and sweed mash and peas, that was it. When your paying £10 for a cavery you expect more than that. To add insult to injury when I added the gravy it was probably the worst I've ever seen or tasted, so thin, bland and see through it was horrendous. As cavery' go this probably has to be the worst. So bland and tasteless no amount of salt could revive this. Don't understand how you could get this so wrong. Came from there and had to have a McDonald's because I hadn't eaten a thing, I actually dislike McDonald's but this was amazing in comparison. Don't bother going there!

Had booked to see Gerry and the Pacemakers at the Coliseum in Aberdare so thought this may be a good spot to have a meal before. Booked a table for 5.30pm just in case. When we arrived it was quite full and a sign said "find a table and order at the bar", we looked about but couldn't see any tables for 2 so asked a guy at the bar, he took us to a table which was set for 4, that is ok. It was curry night but we didn't fancy that so placed an order at the bar and got ourselves a drink. The meal took 45 mins which we didn't really mind it made us all the more hungry but we were disappointed to find it luke warm, the cheesy garlic bread was cold which made it greasy. We did tell the guy who was walking around clearing dishes that we were disappointed the food was not hot and he said "Oh sorry about that". I watched to see if he would head to the kitchen to tell the chefs but he just continued walking around. We also witnessed another customer asking where their one childs meal was when they had already all eaten theirs, they were told "It wot belong, you were advised it would be an hour wait". I thought this was poor customer service and would not return because of this.

We came for a meal for our 2 year old sons birthday, expecting that it would be busy on the day we booked a table in advance, that unfortunately did not stop us having to wait for a table! After a 15 minute wait we were seated at a very small table (for a party of 6) and myself and my wife had to get our own highchairs for the two smallest in our party! Despite putting a note on our reservation stating that we would need them on arrival. As we had been saving ourselves in anticipation of the meal we ordered very quickly and bought our drinks at the bar, the glass for the unlimited refill of soft drinks was disgusting! I cleaned the glass myself (please see attached picture) we then continued to wait 50 minutes for our meals! With 4 children to amuse! This as you can imagine got very fruaght,we also had to ask for sliverware to be brought to us! Not sure if they expected us to eat with our hands?! when the food did arrive it was cold but palletable after finishing it which was very quick due to the long wait, we awaited the children's desserts (ice cream) you would have thought this would be very quick getting to us, but no another 30 mins after the table had been cleared we could wait no longer and eventually left with the desserts refunded and to be honest a piss poor disengenous apology. And as a side note the brewers fare website promises a "free" children's soft play area, a facility that they wanted £3 per child for here! It would have cost our family an extra £12 on top of our over priced meal.

Me and my boyfriend popped over to Tirfounder fields on a Sunday afternoon for some lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal despite it being very busy. I've been trying to understand the bad reviews for this place as I've never had a bad meal and I've come to the conclusion that people just expect too much; you cannot forget that this is a Brewers Fayre and is a restaurant aimed at family's with a play area. There are children running around, it is noisy and the food is not Michelin starred but for what it is it's got top marks from me! We enjoyed a sharing platter for starter which was absolutely beautiful; everything was cooked to perfection and piping hot! Top marks for the chicken skewers in particular which were gorgeous! For the main we both enjoyed the new burgers off the Jack Daniels range and wow! It came out exactly as it appeared on one of the TV screens advertising their specials around the restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. My only complaint was that the portions were so generous we couldn't fit in one of the amazing looking desserts!

We purchased the breakfast and evening meal package as we stayed at the Premier Inn in Aberdare, next to this. The breakfast was good, took your order for the cooked food, asked which eggs we'd prefer, scrambled, fried, poached etc. I opted for the poached and it was soft in the middle, so happy! Good coffee, good selection of breads (crumpets too) and granola. We ate a good breakfast. The second day the coffee machine was broken, so it was sachets of coffee, disappointing, as the coffee from the machine was excellent.i did ask if they had turned it off and turned it on again, jokingly, and was met with a stoney face, "Of course we did" :-(As it was quite busy the hot food was laid out buffet style for us to help ourselves. They did cook some quorn sausages for us as we are veggie, and made up porridge for my husband. Can't fault that. The evening meal was ok, as we had been travelling all day and didn't fancy negotiating the mountain again. It was warm, we weren't ill, it filled a hole. The next night we popped into Aberdare and went to La Piccola, I'd recommend that! You don't expect much from a brewers fayre really, the breakfast I'd pay for again, any other meals I'd it a miss.

We went here because it was close by and we fancied a nice place to sit and relax. We order the gammon and I will say now and forever that it was by far the worst gammon i have ever seen --and I am a uni student !!it was dry and overcooked, the chips were not done enough and the fried egg was seriosuly overcooked. The bar staff were also rude and impatient and gave me the impression that they'd rather be doing something else. Which I know everyone would rather not be working but portraying that to paying customers who just want a nice meal is rude and unpleasant. I was very disappointed and will not be going back.

I have been here a few times on different days and I I must say the Sunday dinner that I had recently was very good however this review is about the "Chefs Counter".The Chefs Counter is basically all you can eat from the hot plate from 5-8pm each week day for £7.49. Sounds a good deal but the food is awful. It's dried out from being left out too long, the choices are not topped up often enough, dough balls were like golf balls, the burger options were left to you to make up, serving spoons were boiling hot from being left under the hot plate (Take Care, HOT HOT HOT) not very save in my opinion. Staff could do with some training in hospitality. I do know you just find a table and sit then order at the bar but it would be nice to be asked if everything is okay or have you been here before type thing. All in all that's my last visit to this place.

Went here for a breakfast before going out for the day with my family (2adults 2 children ) man at the bar wasn't very welcoming he was very blunt telling to us to just go and find a free table. my daughter got herself some chocolate spread and pancakes but luckily before she ate them I noticed green mould on them and they were hard ,stale and cracked when we approached the manager he was very defensive telling us they were fresh out that morning but quickly threw them in the bin he then said his kitchen is very clean. This clearly wasn't the case!! This place has an awful reputation locally and we thought we would give them a chance. Never ever again ! Please please avoid this place like the plague it's a dump and I wouldn't take my dog there to eat. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED AVOID AVOID AVOID

We were booked into the Premier Inn next door and had brought the '£23.99 meal deal' as part of the overnight accommodation package, so we found ourselves eating at the Brewers Fayre on the last Saturday Saturday night, of our holiday. The staff quickly showed us (2 adults & 3 children) to our table, bringing menus, and drinks. However, that was when the dining experience quickly went down hill. The tables and menus looked like they hadn't been cleaned properly, this is especially poor, when the menus were plastic coated. The chairs were filthy with stains and black marks - please see attached photos. My knife had dried on food from a previous customer - even though it had been through a dishwasher - it was obvious that the staff hadn't check to see if it was clean when laying the table - please see photo as well. The restaurant looked like it need a complete refurb, as several of the rails were missing, marks on the walls and windows. All in all, not a good introduction. The toilets were very small with very tight access. The food took a while to arrive, as did the drinks, (they were very under staffed) but when it did, while it was good sized portions, it wasn't overly tasty. Also, the staff did manage to mess up our meals - i'd specified Gluten Free bread with my prawn cocktail starter, but they brought out ordinary wholemeal bread. If I hadn';t of spotted this, i'd of ended up being quite ill. Whilst the staff did quickly rectified this, it should never of happened in the first place and simply shows a lack of allergy awareness by the staff / either that or a complete lack of training. My Ribs were OK, if a little lacking in substance, however the wife's ice-cream did taste good! The only redeeming feature with the restaurant was the large, children's play area inside, of which we had a good view from our table, so at least the children were entertained. However, they do charge a lot extra per kid for this, and its only for 90 minutes - but at least it kept them entertained.Whilst the food was ok, as well as the children's play area, I cannot forgive the cleanliness and general maintenance - well complete lack of inside the restaurant. This is unforgiveable for a establishment serving food, putting peoples health and safety on the line.It felt like, that everything in the restaurant was being done to a cost, trying to extract maximal profits for the owners - not a nice experience. After breakfast in the morning, again with no redeeming features, we were glad to leave and be on the way home!

Ate here several times and the Thursday curry was particularly delicious. Tied in with the Premier Inn next door, I thought it was worth the one price all you can eat breakfast. Plenty of choice and good quality. Friendly service, nice decor and the usual selection of ales.

Waited ages for bar and food order. Lady next to me was agreeing with how many staff on duty and only 2 behind the bar. I was served by a rude obnoxious gentleman called Alex who turned his nose up at me for using a voucher. Your company gave us the voucher so what's the problem. I'm glad I used a voucher as the food is not very enjoyable, I had the New Yorker burger. This was very meh!Ok. The staff in the kids den are amazing, happy, friendly outgoing people. If only these guys ran the joint it would be far better. Will come again but without using the bar and restaurant.

We used this Brewers Fayre as part of the meal deal with the Premier Inn. The service was slow and very disorganised. They got our order wrong and when we informed the waitress she swiped the incorrect meal away whilst huffing. Lots of staff just hang around chatting we counted 5 of them at one stage. Breakfast was better than the evening but we would recommend the Asda restaurant over the road on the retail park.

We decided to eat there before going to see a show what an terrible experience too along a await to order then we were told there was a "possible wait of over half an hour or more for food to be served" Staff were stood around chatting rather than serving and clearing tables and breakfast was just as bad ...... never again

Went here last Friday for hubbys birthsay with our daughter and her boyfriend , we all had main courses and 2 soft drink & 2 alcoholic drinks and came to £36 in total as I had an email code for 40% food. It's not the best but for what we paid was a nice few hours out!

We went here with the kids and a few of their friends! The first issue I would say was the expense of entry into play area, three pound a child I feel is steep!!! Food was ok but I ordered salmon but it was really hard and cold so I sent it back, they refunded the meal with no problems! Staff however were really good and pleasant and very helpful so I would go back again

To start with, it was extremely busy here and there was only one member of staff at the till. Waited a good 20 mins to place an order then to be told there was a 1 hour wait for food.I have no problem with the amount of time it took for our meals to arrive but what we had was absolutely shocking! I had the sausage and mash which was cold, the Yorkshire pudding it came in was so tough it needed a steak knife to cut. My partner and his friend had the chicken and rib combo it was extremely dry and had no bbq sauce on it! My friend ordered a medium rare steak and received a very tough well done steak which was supposed to be 8oz rump. I will never eat here again.

Been to this pub a number of times ad it has a lovey play really for kids other than that I would never return. Staff friendly but the pub is not managed well at all, the manager dose not take complaints seriously. I'm sure this pub would be a lot better if it was managed well and improved o it's food. Every mealour family have had has been very poor. Not quality produce just frozen.. wish this pub would improve its food as I would go there a lot more.

Ok sort of place if your in a rush. Food is ok, staff are friendly. Called a couple of times with my wife but wouldn't make it a regular destination for food. This one is no better or worse than all the Brewers Fayre's throughout the UK. They all provide exactly the same meals so at least you're well aware of what to expect beforehand.

visited early on a Sunday for the carvery.ordered two coffees for 5 ound with unlimited refills and met by lovely friendly bar staff.waited until mid day to order two meals which were 9.95 each which included a starter.first course was sou which was cabbage >.it was vile. watery without any flavor even after my own seasoning salt etc. the rolls that we also had were stale. by this time i am so hungry and looking forward to my lunchi had one slice of turkey and 1 slice of beefall i can say is that it was one of the worst meals i have ever ever had. the gravy was like dishwater and once it was added to the food looked like it had been blended.the whole meal was frozen. frozen Yorkshire puddings. frozen and over cooked roasts. the only fresh item on menu was mashed oatato i tried the slice of beef which was so tough i couldn't chew it. i tried the turkey and that i think was the only edible item on my late. myself and partner didn't complain we just left vowing never ever to return .

I come here quite regularly as it is the only place nearby that caters for children and also has the play area for children.Although the staff are very friendly and I have no complaints there. Also the play area has recently been decorated and it's had an over haul which is great. The restaurant area has started to look dirty and shabby, the chairs and carpets are full of stains and could do with a good clean. As for the food very disappointed. I'm a fan of quick service of food but when you food is being delivered to the table five minutes after ordering it has obviously been microwaved to within an inch of it's life. Ordered the vegetable curry which was extremely dry and tasteless. Also the people standing smoking right outside the entrance area so you have to walk through a plume of smoke to get into the restaurant and them walk through it again to get out. Surely there should be a designated smoking area elsewhere other that right in the entrance area.

went here today for a meal, was a bit surprised as at 1pm on a sunday this place was empty. Wanted to have a carvery but when I went and looked at it, changed my mind. The food was disgusting, it looked cold and stale. Hardly any meat there and the meat that was present looked old. The roast potatoes were burnt and the veg looked stale. I decided to have chicken and chips instead. Well what can I say, the chips and peas were obviously heated up and the chicken was not fresh and tasted awful. Tasted like a cheap frozen piece of chicken. Left most of it. Needless to say I will never return to this place.I go to the Brewers fayre in Caerphilly a lot and the food is really nice and fresh there.

Just had a pint of Leffe (£4.22), service fine, it was half full on a Wednesday afternoon. Toilets tidy and clean, as usual for Wetherspoons.
