Dinner for a party of 4... A little on the expensive side but you get what you pay for ! Absolutely outstanding meal, staff were friendly and attentive, will be visiting again !! Steaks cooked to perfection, entrees were generously portioned and drinks flowed throughout the very enjoyable meal in a lively but cosy atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this eatery. Fantastic ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Visited this restaurant for a birthday dinner and was amazed with the great food quality. We had calamari and thei king prawns and chicken wings as starters , then we had burgers and pork ribs as main course amd it all tasted so amazing. Staff were very friendly and outstanding, great value for momey.

Lovely food and drinks but quite pricey

First visit after hearing how lovely the food is, so we booked to celebrate with our friends for their upcoming special birthdays. We had a great evening company wise but were disappointed with the standard of food unfortunately. If you are going to charge for quality you have to deliver on every meal. We all ordered steaks & sadly found them chewy & not easy to cut baring in mind they were cooked medium rare, a steak knife should just slice through, not on this occasion! (Miller & Carter steaks are far superior & better value). The staff were nice enough but again just ok service & not as expected, we asked one young girl if we could order another drink and her reply was ‘yeah what?!!’ not really service with a smile!. The mains arrived literally as finishing starters too which felt all a bit rushed, when ordering the dessert we had to ask for them to give us at least 10 minutes after the main meal. All in all it was very average food & ok service thrown in and sadly I don’t think I’d recommend the restaurant based on the food quality. Such a shame as had high hopes beforehand & definitely feel our friends birthday meal should have been more special! Starters ordered pork belly (nice) lobster Mac (no lobster & tiny portion!) & scallops (nice/small) Mains 4 sirloin steaks 3 of which cooked M/R all a bit chewy & 1 cooked M/W not cooked enough, sides onion rings, mushrooms, spinach (all ok) Desserts banoffee & choc fudge (both nice) Sorry no photos!

Went here with the Mrs just the 2 of us and while the food was at best MID the biggest slap in the face was a £37 or so service charge they added on for 2 people! I will now continue to stick to Miller & Carters as the food is simply superior and the pricing is fair, Miller & Carters don't have a service charge unless there's over 8 people so who this place is disgusting. Don't disappoint yourselves go elsewhere I will never ever visit this awful place again.

First time eating at Brettingtons, and it exceeded our expectations. We were greeted by a young lady named Grace,who escorted us to our table, and provided friendly attentive service during our stay. My wife had the Brettington burger, whilst I had the ribs, and we were both highly delighted with the quality of the food, which was served nice and hot. Too many places serve up luke-warm food, but not here. Portion sizes were deceptive; they did not look huge, but we were both pleasantly full after eating our mains. The fries were superb: to me they somehow tasted like chips at the seaside, in Rochester High St.

Went here for a date night and had a great time. The food was amazing and the drinks were more than affordable. The staff gave great service, we’ll definitely be coming back. The Confit Pork Belly and the Lobster Thermador were the stars of the show. The Thai Prawns were cooked perfectly.

We had a day trip to Rochester , and booked this restaurant to celebrate my birthday . The staff were lovely and super friendly. We had the set menu. The food was delicious especially the ribs .

Probably my favourite restaurant in Kent. Excellent food, friendly, professional service and a lovely atmosphere. You must try the pork belly starter and the crispy beef. The burger is amazing if you're not having a steak. The local wine they sometimes have is also excellent. Highly recommended.

Went to Brettington’s to celebrate a special occasion. Food was good but not spectacular. The steak was “medium well” instead of “medium rare”. Noticed it and called the attention of the wait staff. They quickly sent it back and got the order replaced. This time it came out exactly how I wanted it. My only let down was the mashed potato which came out quite stuff. Not creamy like you’d expect in a fine establishment. I must add that the king prawn starter is a must have. Very delicious. The staff were also very nice and lovely.

Incredible restaurant. Best service we had in the UK, and food is to die for. We were also surprised how reasonably priced everything was.

Went for Sunday roast . Meal 1 . Lamb roast . Delicious. Meal 2. Not as should have been. However this is not a negative post. The staff are lovely . And could not have dealt with the issue any better than they did. Professional courteous and kind. Will definitely return A really good establishment that can all have a one bad moment. I visited this restaurant based on the reviews and I was not disappointed! The food was incredible, starters, main and dessert all cooked to absolute perfection, hats off to the chef. The service was exception from Klodian, so friendly, efficient and helpful. Highly recommend.

Actually I was expecting a way better experience, the food was average we had a steak and a lobster, the lobster was below average to be honest. We went on a mid week day, no one was there at all Certainly not deserve the price tag... Not to mention that we went to try the Tomahawk steak but they didn't have it at that day

We visited for my partner’s birthday dinner and had the best service possible, and the food was incredible - Claudian & Finn (I apologise if I’ve misspelled the names!) couldn’t do more for us; will absolutely be returning here in future, not only to have more of the beautifully cooked steak & lobster but to enjoy the perfectly made cocktails!

Large steak but not cooked as well as one would expect for the price. Service was reasonable but the card machine wasn't working and had to take cash. Atmosphere was not great with fellow guest at the restaurant very loud and crass.

Very fancy place for a date. Very attentive service. It's not cheap but you get very good quality steak. I could take or leave the lobster, it didn't have much in it and tasted a bit powdery. The steak was absolutely delicious though. We got a sharer and had leftovers to take home. Very quiet atmosphere. Nice cocktails

Our table of 4 had seemed to be wedged in between a works do and a hen party making conversation between our friends very difficult. Drinks order wrong on two occasions and our steaks weren’t cooked how we asked. I can only assume the waitress couldn’t hear us properly due to the noise created from the other tables. When leaving the restaurant, the other half seemed like a nice place to be and much more in keeping with a respectable restaurant and not with the office Xmas party / ‘knees up’ vibe we had to put up with. Massively disappointing after a first decent visit last year, a right shame.

I would never go there again! We went there as a group of for to celebrate parent's 50th wedding anniversary but unfortunately it was a let down. Atmosphere: A table for 15 people was booked at 5 p.m. o'clock! a month in advance and the staff was informed that this was an important event. We came from another city to celebrate such a grand event, ordered a taxi. The first thing that disappointed us was the place where we were seated. Small tables were placed next to each other right at the entrance to the restaurant. They wobbled and it was not comfortable to sit. If you are not able to receive guests in the number of 15 people because you do not have a place, you must inform the customers about this!!! Food: There are no comments about the food, it was tasty and corresponded to the price-quality ratio. Service: The service was also at a good level. They constantly approached and asked if everything was okay. But let me back to atmosphere! You must be ready when you book table for 15 persons! that you will be kick out in few hours! When we finished our main courses and were ready to order desserts, we were reported that we had to vacate the tables by eight o'clock because they were booked by others. The bill was more than 1000 pounds and it was without desserts!!! Even thought waitress apologise for the mess up and gave a free bottles prosecco we felt the evening was spoilt.

Incredible food! We drove 45 minutes to visit the restaurant for my birthday and we were not disappointed! If you love steak then you have to visit. Their tomahawk was 10/10. Service was also incredible thanks to Klodian! He helped us pick and gave some really great advice on everything from the menu. Even the way you are greeted at the door is warm and welcoming. Would most certainly be back.

Please don't be fooled by the 5 star reviews, this was 4-6 years ago when this place was good. Went a few days ago, front staff was blah, took one look at the menu and realised it all changed and prices rocketed, but I thought let's give it a try. Ordered steak, friends ordered rack of ribs. The steak was over cooked and chewy, ribs was half the size with no flavour. Then ordered sticky toffee, there was no sticky or toffee about it!! I have had better food in a pub and for what they charge one would expect a fine dining experience. Very overpriced and nothing special about it, just a dingy, dark and cold place. WILL NOT BE RETURNING!!

We love going to Brettingtons, the steaks are always cooked perfect, the food and service is top notch! When ever we have family in town it's our number one go to restaurant!

One of our favourite restaurants in Rochester - lovely food and atmosphere, and friendly service. We've had a couple of times where our steaks have been slightly overcooked, but otherwise always a great experience.

Visited for dinner on Saturday night. Food was fantastic, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We opted for three courses and each course did not disappoint. Would definitely recommend and will be returning for a meal soon!

The food was tasty but I think a little expensive, I was pleasantly surprised at the portion size you certainly didn't leave still feeling hungry. that's a bonus. We went on Sunday around 5:30 p.m. Lucky for us there were seats available, their lunchtime rush was clearly over. For the five of us without alcoholic drinks The bill was £230. That included gratuity. 3 starters 5 mains 2 desserts. Would I go back again... yes I would!

I was sceptical of this place due to all the recent negative reviews, so much so, I was going to cancel our booking, however this scepticism quickly changed when we were greeted by our waitress. Our waitress was very friendly, especially considering we had twin new born's who were about to wreak havoc on the place. We placed our drinks order and it was served promptly, our mains did take a bit longer than expected to arrive, but it was definitely worth it. Except for my youngest, we all had steak. The steaks were thick cut and flavourful , they were seasoned perfectly, as were the chips, I actually felt they might have put MSG in them -They were that good. The biggest surprise of the night was my son's kids meal burger, it was huge, I think it would have been too much for me. All in all, we had a great time and the food was great. Will definitely be back.

Just spent over £170.00 for 2 of us and very disappointed with the over main dishes. Prawns for starters we're the best dish of the night.

Absolutely top notch!!! Service was on point and the food was perfectly cooked. The scottish scallops were divine, i had the sirloin med rare perfect and the half baked lobster I had on the side was amazing! Even the steak cut chips were morish! The waitress recommended dishes and cocktails which were all superb and I had the lemon pie for desert, just writing this I could eat it all again!!!

PUBLICLY SHAMED. Turned up to the venue and was told we cannot be served as we don’t look smart enough. For reference I was wearing CLEAN black and white converse, black suit trousers, Hugo boss black jumper. The girlfriend was wearing a Harrington jacket with a grey knitted jumper underneath, also wearing converse. This was embarrassing and was said loudly infront of customers. We have been to many establishments that specify “Smart Casual” and have never been made to feel this way. Shame on them - we will never be returning. The member of staff did not even look very presentable herself.

Very very disappointed! Had table booked for months for my birthday, lady called in the afternoon to confirm our booking and to let us know about the dress code, I asked if if boots where ok, she said that’s fine, went to our booking and was refused entry and was very rude and didn’t really have an I treat in listening to what we said! I was so disappointed and upset and we travelled especially and forked out for a hotel just to come here, one star! Do not visit

Came here today For lunch. Service was good to start with then it went downhill. It was absolutely freezing cold and wasn’t enjoyable eating dinner. Manager said all the heating is on but no hot air was coming out of the air-conditioning unit On the ceiling. We was never asked if our meal was okay and we had to call someone else for another drink and then ask for the dessert menu. There was enough staff, so this is not acceptable. I could understand if it was a harvester, but it’s not it’s an Expensive Restaurants, so there is no excuse. The side door was left open as they had a delivery and it was freezing cold, It was the poor young girl who kept shutting it. It’s not a cheap restaurant for lunch as our bill came to over £90. They even had the cheek to put 12 ,1/2% Service charge which I would have asked them be removed it but my partner didn’t want to cause a fuss. I would certainly not recommend it or go back there unless they buck their ideas up. There is so much more better restaurants with better service. This is how businesses go under From bad reviews, I hope the manager sees this and sorts, the heating out and the service

Had a decent dinner here the other week. My friend had lobster and I had the salmon. Both were tasty and well priced.

Lovely steak, a bit of confusion over running out of burgers that wasn't communicated. Other than that service was polite and friendly.

Amazing food as always! Staff are always lovely! Other tables always very loud so sometimes end up shouting when trying to have a conversation. Lobster mac and cheese was fantastic!

I had the Sirloin, which was lovely and my wife chose the Lobster which she was equally impressed with. Good service, but it was a midweek early evening so not busy. Would definitely return for the quality of food alone.

We were celebrating our 57th wedding anniversary. They gave us a complimentary drink which was a lovely touch. The food was amazing enjoyed every course! Such friendly staff - thank you !

Went with family for my mothers birthday. We were a table of 10 including 4 children. The service was poor considering the restaurant was not at maximum capacity. We were left without our mains for 45 minutes. Steak was over cooked, Lobster was anwful and the starter of prawns were smothered in lemon. I did not eat either. I will complement the staff as they were friendly and I was offered a refund. The other meals were okay but I wouldn’t go here again personally. I’ve been to cheaper and had far better quality.

3 of us went. 2 Fillet 1 sirloin and 1/2 baked lobster. Stakes all came out aboutvthe same time. However my lobster didn't. Probably about 5 mins later... Was very tasty but would have been easier to eat with lobster fork rather that having to use my steak knife to get the meat out. Food was lovely apart from my steak having cooled whilst waiting for the lobster..... When paying we all paid 60 each for a 167 bill. They didn't even attempt to bring change back or ask of the rest was a tip. Which it was, but would have been nice to be asked. The lighting on our table meant I had to ask my friend to lean back so I could use the light on the window cill to see my food.... Lovely food. Just not a great experience.

Loved the lobster 🦞 and our server was amazing in difficult circumstances ie. 10 drunk comedians as customers, but he added to a great night.

I bought my wife here for our anniversary and was pleasantly surprised. The food was outstanding. We were greeted warmly and helped to our seats - not great if you’re disabled (luckily my wife wasn’t in her wheelchair and just using walking sticks that day as there are stairs down to the dining area. I didn’t see a lift but also didn’t ask we just took our time). We were given a complementary glass of fizz each which was lovely and unexpected. Our starters were fabulous and mains insane. We had the côte de boeuf sharer which was big enough for 3 and bought home enough for pampered puss. Something we did appreciate when we asked for the leftover steak to take for the cat the chef made us aware of what had been put on the steak as some animals (ie cats can’t have onion powder). Nice touch!!! Puss still enjoyed the inside of the steak. Everything was lovely and will be back after the refurb in January.

Lovely place and great food. One of the waitresses was a bit abrupt....but the others were absolutely lovely and we had a great time!

This is a nice restaurant serving good quality food, although they have a new dress code which is a little annoying since they have to (politely, to be clear) explain this to every group who are not compliant, and on our visit, I'm not sure any of the tables were complying. If they really want to cultivate a refined atmosphere they should do something about rowdy tables of lads having a night out, which is far more ruinous to a slap up meal than the sight of someone in a polo shirt.

Have been here a few times and the service never drops. Always polite and friendly and there when needed throughout your meal. Have had quite a portion of their gorgeous menu over my visits and have always been impressed! The lobster roll is the only meal that has left me disappointed...more bread and lettuce than lobster on my last visit. Other than that it is a fantastic place to eat and will be returning no doubt in the near future.

Visited tonight for 1st time with my husband for my birthday! Reception - not friendly. Upon entry we were advised my husbands attire wouldn’t be accepted on any future visits! * Starter- king prawns which were tiny, over cooked & very chewy. Not fresh. * Chateaubriand - fatty lumps & dry, not medium rear as requested. Whilst paying the £130 bill we advised the lovely, but young & clearly new, waitress it wasn’t what were expecting, we didn’t want to complain but would like a word with someone higher up, that didn’t happen & we then were ignored until we left. 3/10 from me!! Won’t be revisiting.

Having previously visited Rochester for another experience my partner and I discovered Brettingtons and decided to book for a birthday celebration. Having booked a table we arrived slightly early to be seated where we wanted by friendly and very helpful staff. Throughout the evening they were all attentive , polite and helpful, however, Zara in particular was exceptional. The food was simply ...amazing! We booked purely for the lobster main course and we're not disappointed....in fact, the size of the lobster blew us away! It was delicious....couldn't recommend it enough. We are looking to go back soon.

Steak was average nothing compared to the last time I was there Dessert was a disappointment ordered lemon pie with clotted cream NO clotted cream so changed to lemon sorbet ended up with vanilla ice cream Hopefully it will be better next time

Food was fantastic, our waitress Liv(her first day) was brilliant and really helpful. HOWEVER, the manager Maja came over to us after 20 mins and asked us to keep quiet. We weren't being overly loud and the table next to us a large group for dinner were much louder. We had to specifically ask her if they were being too loud or its just us. A really nice meal ruined by rude management.

So this place seems to have good reviews, but the food was a bit disappointing. Starters were good, but the main steak wasn't the greatest and wasn't cheap expected better probably won't be going back again.

What a fantastic find for our anniversary dinner! We were greeted with a surprise glass of prosecco while deciding what to eat from the very exciting and extensive menu. Our waiter Josh was extremely knowledgeable and helpful throughout our meal, he really did make our evening that much more special (thank you!). The food was amazing! Glad we had the chance to tell the chef on the way out. Everything we ordered was delicious, the portions were generous and cooked to perfection. We can definitely recommend Brettington's and will be back soon.

Absolutely amazing service extremely kind, welcoming and that's just before we got to the food. The Pork Ribs were just fantastic and the Reserved Ribeye Steak was cooked medium rare and amazingly tasty. I'd been surprised with a hand written chocolate happy birthday with excellent truffles and raspberries. Would very much recommend and would love to return !

Had an amazing meal here tonight. We booked for our anniversary and it didn't disappoint. All the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, food was delicious and timely and the general atmosphere is nice and cozy. Everything you'd want in a nice steakhouse.

From booking the table, to eating the food was a great experience. The Food was amazing and the kids portions were just as good. Lovely touch for my eldest daughter as it was her birthday to get a gluten free dessert with a candle. Thoroughly recommend the sirloin steak and lobster 🦞.

Most racist restaurant i’ve ever dealt with. I a black person, walked into the restaurant, they placed mr in the back next to the toilets and gave me what felt like the scraps of other customers. I ordered the Sirloin Steak and could see the flecks of spit still lingering upon the top of the meal. This was all because i was black. Because of this when i tried to complain they couldn’t even see me because i was in the corner. Would NEVER order from here again.

Celebrated my birthday here with the girls last week after reading good reviews, and we were not disappointed. The price for the quality of the food was outstanding, the cocktails were delicious (I recommend the Pineapple and raspberry one) and the staff were so helpful and friendly. We didn’t plan to stay for dessert but following our meal it wouldn’t have been right not to! Book yourself in asap

It was ok, starters all good , mains no so good , Risotto not cooked enough and Lobster so small it should of been thrown back in the sea . I like a nice atmosphere and it is but a bit of extra lighting would of helped to see the menu.

Staff friendly and good cocktails. Tables too small however. We had the sharing steak, but have had better, though would say fair enough price. It was very tough and a lot of gristle one side. Nice chips

Many visits to this awesome restaurant Today I had fried teriyaki beef for starter followed by fillet steak for main and it was cooked to perfection Amazing staff too !

The food was excellent, we had a Cote du beouf, it was cooked to perfection along with the parmesan & truffle oil chips and the green beans with pancetta. But the one thing that made our night special was our server, Kayleigh. She was attentive, conscientious, apologetic when asked about timings of food and, above all, so friendly. She was a breath of fresh air, by far the best server we have ever had, and we have had hundreds of meals over the years. Brettingtons, be very proud of this young lady, she is upholding your reputation to the fullest. We will be back on many occasions!!!

Staff here are super attentive and very friendly which adds to the experience. I had half a grilled lobster for main which was super tasty and a cheese board modified to suit my taste. I have to admit however that I was a little put off ordering the steak as the menu was a little too descriptive of how the cows are looked after...

3 course set menu. Pate - very bland, crisp bread (dehydrated to within an inch) green olives, peanuts, pickle slices and a spicy chutney. Sirloin steak, thick chips (bagged) and a salad. Nice enough steak Ice cream (forgettable)

Host needs to understand more of the business. server was lovely, wine waiter was lovely, menu choice was Ltd but this could have been due to time of year, two out of 3 of us had sub standard chips/fries It was fair enough but not the best of places and I'd question whether I'd recommend

My food was exceptional 😋, beautiful and tender steak cooked to medium, starters were fantastic 👏, couple of others had a slightly over and under medium, service i feel let's the place down, table near us had there steak dropped onto the table and my friend had his chips dropped onto the table also, they did bring other chips out to replace. Paying was also an issue with their card machine playing up, paid cash in the end and waited ages for the change as service charge of 12.5% added , they couldn't find my change and gave me more back than my original change. The male restroom was too hot and ran out of towels to dry your hands. For the money per head I expect better service and whilst the food was exceptional, hats off to the chef I doubt very much if I will return.

Beautiful tasty meal, really delicious. Thank you chef/s. For starter I had beef carpaccio (sorry if not spelled right), the horseradish kicked, tasted fresh. Partner had soft shell crab, was whole; I tasted and loved the crunchiness (although I don't like crab/the taste of it lol) For mains I had short rib of beef, melt in the mouth. Loved just as much the tasty crunchy snap peas and broccolini. And the mash and jus/gravy, SO full of flavour. Partner had the chicken fricassee which he also loved; again, the vegetables so tasty. We had ordered a cheeseboard between us which looked amazing but we just didn't have room so the lovely waitress boxed up for us (our lunch tomorrow now!) To my shame I didn't ask the name of the waitress (dark hair, black blouse), who is obviously very experienced and gave wonderful service. Indeed, she was very helpful with local knowledge for us to use the following day. We also had a trainee waiter I think called Sunid or Sunad (apologies, we are 'oldies' and a bit deaf) who was very sweet and we wish him well. But biggest thank you goes to the great chef/s, really enjoyed.

Great place for a date night the food is lovely! Probably my favourite restaurant in Rochester. If you’re after a really good steak this is the place to go and I’ll definitely be returning.

First time visit. My son is a chef and recommended this restaurant so I have wanted to go for a long time. Went on Monday this week with a party of 10 and was feeling really underwhelmed when I walked in. The restaurant is really welcoming in the front section with cosy armchairs and booths but because of our party size we were in the back section which is very much lack lustre. None of the tables were dressed on arrival and there are lot of tables in this area. It looked like a closed cafe. The decoration is drab in this area, we were by the fire exit and the door was open letting in a freezing draft. The radiator was freezing too and there was a standing floor fan blowing freezing cold air directly at us. Before we even sat down we were told how much was not on the menu due to supplier issue. 2 of our guests did not eat red meat and sadly the meals with chicken and scallops were off the menu. If I wasn’t there for a large gathering I would have left at that point. The food however and the waitress made up for everything. The food presentation and portion size was perfect and the waitress gave her full attention and solved how cold we were by putting the radiator on and made sure we could choose from the Al a carte at no extra cost to compensate the fact some set menu choices weren’t available. To improve the environmental factors I suggest you dress the tables with table cloths, cutlery and glasses and more than one candle across a table of 10. Simple things like this would really improve the first impressions.
