My daughter and I created a lifetime memory because of Charlie’s beautiful horses. We rode through an amazing variety of open expanses with wild Exmoor ponies in close view to the intimate valley setting for the novel of Lorna Doone. We saw the ruins of a medieval village and wondered about life so long ago. Charlie is in love with this wild place and will give you a delightful tour. She is fun and makes you feel special!

We arrived to a very warm welcome by the gentleman of the house. On asking if we could sit inside was shown to a very outdated and tired dinning room . Where the lady of the house greeted us with very bad manners this continued throughout the service as though she did not want the custom. Took our order did not even ask if we would like a drink we had to call her back to order these. She made us feel that we were putting her out. We have lived here in north devon for 23 years and never had such bad service. The only good thing about our visit was the excellant food probobly the best scones i have ever had.

We did not stay here we had lunch not a enjoyable experience despite the fact the info on their menu states we aim to make your visit an enjoyable experience definately not the case. No greeting just grunted can I take your order when the food arrived one of the forks was dirty(looked like egg) when pointed out and asked for another yet another grunt no apology. You would think being a tourist desitination they would make the effort to be at least pleasant to encourage more trade. Everthing seemed as if it was too much effort and couldn't be bothered. Food was nothing special.

Outstanding food and a brilliantly hosted evening. The food was delicious - the best I have ever eaten. Sharon was a perfect host, engaging the guests in conversation and creating a lovely atmosphere. If you are going to Ilfracombe book ahead - it is worth planning for!

Lovely lunch from the £5 menu . . . I imagine they will soon be able to get back to a more normal access as the Premier Inn extension work is finished !

Good location in Barnstaple with lots of food and drink choices at excellent prices. I like the cooked breakfast especially with a choice of small, medium or large - also traditional or vegetarian.
